Eurogroup In Shock: Finance Ministers "Would Not Know What To Discuss" After Greferendum Stunner

Tyler Durden's picture

Just out from Reuters:

  • FINANCE MINISTERS "WOULD NOT KNOW WHAT TO DISCUSS" AFTER EMERGING GREEK 'NO' VOTE-EURO ZONE OFFICIAL

More:

There are no plans for an emergency meeting of euro zone finance ministers on Greece on Monday after Greeks voted overwhelmingly to reject the terms of a bailout deal with international creditors, a euro zone official said on Sunday.

Asked whether a meeting of the Eurogroup was planned for Monday, the official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters: "No way. (The ministers) would not know what to discuss."

May we suggest containing the fallout, whether in capital markets or in the resurgent mood in the other PIIGS, as a primary topic?

And meanwhile, while we symptahize with the Greeks officially telling the Troika to "fuck off", they may have other liquidity problems of their own.

Greeks cannot withdraw cash left in safe deposit boxes at Greek banks as long as capital restrictions remain in place, a deputy finance minister told Greek television on Sunday.

Greece's government shut banks and imposed capital controls a week ago to prevent the country's banks from collapsing under the weight of mass withdrawals.

Deputy Finance Minister Nadia Valavani told Alpha TV that, as part of those measures, the government and banks had agreed at the time that people would also not be allowed to withdraw cash from safe deposit boxes.

Surely the Greeks bought enough gold and/or bittcoin ahead of this outcome. Surely

"Would not know what to discuss" because it would involve/imply their failure.  The only thing they could discuss is what Greece did wrong.

Actually, it's more a case of the ECB kicking themselves in the balls, like in this song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkeohJYJKnA

"I'm going to kick myself in the balls" by Big Poo Generator

Lyrics:

I'm having a party.

I'm going to kick myself in the balls.

I'm a big bad boy, and I'm having a party.

Come to my party, come sing along

Come see me kick myself in the balls

A thing to do, a funny sight

and I wont be faking it, I'm doing it tonight!

Watch me kick myself in the balls,

watch me and you'll laugh.

I'm having a party, so please come along

We'll have a really great time.

I'm going to kick myself in the balls,

going to do it at hyper-speed!

I know how to party, just wait and see

Going to kick myself in the balls tonight at my party!

And then I'm going to kick my dog in the balls...

I thought that the vote would be definitive one way or another, maybe as high as 55%. Right now the 'no' vote is in wet dream territory at 60%. The lords and masters of the EU are likely either in 1) full panic, 2) deep denial, or likely 3) both. They will have to make a positive statement soon. Too bad it won't be "we fucked up...badly". There is only one possible outcome, the Greeks have to be made an example of to discourage others from following their lead.

A colour revolution, a new junta of neo-fascists. currency devaluation, then asset fire sales to western (globalist) interests.

there's no DB exposure to greece because the last 4 years was enough to transfer all the risky assets to the balance sheets of EZ governments, ECB and other muppets. all the loans to greek, at least to the extent of 90%, were immediately transferred to the german and french banks via the backdoor. and the taxpayers, greek and the rest, are the ones to pay it back. or not.

Soon, MH Flight 370 will finally land on Tsipras' head.

The Zios stole it and saved it for just this moment :)

The highest probability scenario is that the MH370 senior pilot deliberately dove the 777 into the ocean, maintaining the integrity of the fuselage and containing all buoyant materials, coming to rest on sea floor in deep water.

Go crawl back into bed with your Islamic brethren.

What happens if the debt isn't written down? Is there any claim on Greek assets? Can holders foreclose? Waltz in and take over Greece and say it is theirs? Hmm...I doubt it. Time to bend over and take your haircut.

Full faith and credit without the ability to print means nothing. With the ability to print it means you are buying a depreciating asset backed by nothing real. Earnings on savings? Fuggetaboutit.

You comment says it all “... containing the fallout, whether in capital markets or in the resurgent mood in the other PIIGS…”. There are plenty of other “Greeces” in the EU including Italy, Spain, Portugal and France- all plagued by stagnant/declining economies, high unemployment, austerity and increasing deficits. EU economic policy is largely dictated by Brussels and unelected officials at the ECB. This begs the question- how long will the EU survive in its present form?

Agenda:

(1) Decide how to cover up the fact that the German Banking system is insolvent if the Greeks force a haircut. Haircut, that doesn't sound too terribly bad, now does it?
(2) Decide how to cover up the fact that the ECB is insolvent if the Greeks force a haircut. Haircut, that doesn't sound too terribly bad , now does it?
(3) Decide how to cover up the fact that Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, and Ireland are planning to do the same thing. They have been doing a pretty good job at this.

My only advise is that you better start shopping at Sam's and Costco. Q

Nothing enrages a banker more than a spiteful debtor. Someone who promised they were 'ready, willing, and able' to pay you back. And then they don't. And then they laugh at you from their Cadillac and say, 'thanks for the ride asshole!'

You will want to crush them, kill their wife and kids, and burn their house down. You will bribe their lawyer to make you the sole beneficiary in their will. You will be made whole no matter what it takes.

I think you are all underestimating how angry the EU and their Banking Partners are. I promise you that right this moment there are plans being made in villas and castles and offices in Europe that would make Ghadafi and Saddam look like saints.

Nothing enrages a HOMELESS Man more than a spiteful and remorseless BROKER and BANKER. People who promised they were 'ready, willing, and able' to take care of your investment in your home. And then they don't. And then they laugh at you from their Cadillac and say, 'thanks for the ride asshole!'

The Homeless will want to crush them, kill their wife and kids, and burn their house down. They will create the FIREBOMBS to destroy the FRAUDULENT BANKERS and REAL ESTATE BROKERS who initiated the loan. The Homeless hordes will be made whole no matter what it takes.

I think you are all underestimating how angry the Homeless are. I promise you that right this moment there are plans being made in River Bottoms, tents and camps all across the United States that would make Ghadafi and Saddam look like saints.

AND I AM TEACHING THEM HOW TO DO IT.

DO YOU GET IT?

No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry.

'Cause - 'cause - 'cause I remember when a we used to sit
In a government yard in Trenchtown,
Oba - obaserving the 'ypocrites - yeah! -
Mingle with the good people we meet, yeah!
Good friends we have, oh, good friends we have lost
Along the way, yeah!
In this great future, you can't forget your past;
So dry your tears, I seh. Yeah!

No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry. Eh, yeah!
A little darlin', don't shed no tears:
No, woman, no cry. Eh!

Said - said - said I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown, yeah!
And then Georgie would make the fire lights,
I seh, logwood burnin' through the nights, yeah!
Then we would cook cornmeal porridge, say,
Of which I'll share with you, yeah!
My feet is my only carriage
And so I've got to push on through.
Oh, while I'm gone,
Everything's gonna be all right!
Everything's gonna be all right!
Everything's gonna be all right, yeah!
Everything's gonna be all right!
Everything's gonna be all right-a!
Everything's gonna be all right!
Everything's gonna be all right, yeah!
Everything's gonna be all right!

So no, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry.
I seh, O little - O little darlin', don't shed no tears;
No, woman, no cry, eh.

No, woman - no, woman - no, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry.
One more time I got to say:
O little - little darlin', please don't shed no tears;
No, woman, no cry.
