It seems the early forecasts showing the No vote in the lead were right: according to the Ministry of the Interior, with over 31% of the vote counted, the "No's" have a resounding lead with well over 60% of the vote.

Looks like Varoufakis gets to keep his arm and the Tyler Durdens have only themselves to blame for being incredibly wrong.
You mean I would finally come across a ZH article that doesn't start with the words "as we predicted"?...LOL!!!
Yes, the Tylers got this one dreadfully wrong because they simly just repeated main stream nonsense. Repeating Kathimerini rubbish will get you every time.....LOL!!!
Thirded.
Kathimerini, Papaxelas, exactly!
I also thought it would go the other way, maybe like me they were just cynical of human nature and thought the greeks would just vote yes out of fear and a wrong headed sense of self preservation
My sentiments exactly!
????
To clarify, I'll quote from a half-dozen or so Tyler-authored articles on Greece: "If the latest [ECB extortion attempt] doesn't result in a deal on Monday, the Greeks have only themselves to blame."
This is what comes of getting most of your 'analysis' from one-sided MSM regurgitations of ECB insistence on the physically impossible.
I'll say it again: What cannot be repaid, won't be.
And that's true even if it's a socialist government who's saying it, and even if it's all of 'hard-working upstanding' Germany who's denying it.
Who cares what the Tylers think? Use your own brain, do your own DD, and have the courage to act on your own conclusions.
Fight club my ass. What are we, sheep here?
I follow no man.
Wrong about what?
They still need to seasonally adjust the vote......give it some time
It could be the weather has effected the figures, been happening a lot lately apparently
CONGRATS GREECE! YOU MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE!
LOOKS LIKE I PICKED THE WRONG WEEK TO QUIT...

No worries on this side of the pond.
A no vote will send the DOW sky high.... and a yes vote will do the same.
Jack Yellen has got it covered!
PM's will get wacked! SOS!
Just the start of super FUBAR!
It's been pretty difficult to 'whack' sub $16 silver......we shall see
NO 61% majority! Predicted. All hell is about to fall onto Greek heads! The EU will be outraged.
The EU elites, certainly. As for the German and other European peoples, I would never wish them any more misfortune. Their elites have made some Faustian bargains and I hope that those elites regret it. It may be a good time for the good Europeans to revisit some of their Middle-ages morality plays.
'The EU will be outraged.'
I hope so: 'Whom the Gods Destroy, They First Make Mad'.
The Portugese have apparently already organized street parties in support of the Greek OXI. I'd just like to point out that Continental Europe is in the grip of a really fucking horrible heatwave since the end of June.
Faustian bargains and "horrible heatwave". You have the sensitive soul of a poet, Ajax. Great moniker!
I recall, in junior high school, being frustrated that my hero, Ajax, was called Aias or some such in the Iliad. Doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely as Ajax. Later, I would grow more and more sympathetic towards Hector. I guess I am a sucker for underdogs and the noble losers of history. Let us hope that this is not a Pyrrhic victory over the banksters. The Greeks have my total respect for thumbing their noses at the Sword of Damocles hanging over their heads, no matter how this plays out.
Pleased to hear from you!
That reaction reminds me of Iceland. The SHEER OUTRAGE of the creditors. And after that... the country was left on its own, to sink or swim as a country.
I have no problem with that result, for Iceland, Greece, or any other country. Greece may not be left alone, however, since it has some strategic advantages over Iceland, that certain military groups want.
OUTRAGE is all these creditors have as a weapon, and that will be over soon enough.
The real-world consequences of trying to rebuild a nearly-failed economy, however, are just beginning.
At least Greece can soon begin this work. The rest of the 'west' has postponed even the beginning of this rebuilding, and will have that much more work to do when it finally comes.
Sunday night Dax cfd's off 400 points.
This is Thermopylae and Salamis all over again. We owe the Greeks a gratitude for democracy, and they are just doing the same again.
It was never easy and it won't be this time either, but it is the right thing to do. The EU is mortally wounded.
Way to go, and thank you!
"The EU is mortally wounded."
I'm soooo sad for Brussels...
"The EU is mortally wounded."
Follow the blood spoor and finish it off.
Never leave a wounded animal to suffer.
The Greeks have demonstrated that they are a strong brave people. I know that if the same sort of vote were to occur in the UK that we would vote to remain chained to the post and sucking at the teat. We (The UK) are a shameful shadow of our former selves. Just look at the Scottish independence vote, too scared to vote for freedom because it might cost them a few quid in their pockets. What price freedom?
Absolutely spot on.
Us Brits took the wrong turn years ago and surrendered to democratic tyranny. It'll have to get far worse before people wake up.
Valavani will open the vaults and there will be a haircut on gold, cash, and whatever the hell Greeks have stockpiled in safeboxes. Just in!!!
CORRECTION:
Slightly disappointing, she will open them so clients can withdraw documents only. I still think this opens the possibility for checks on bank vaults, considering that Nicoloudis, the Minister for Corruption, was one of the first to discuss the topic. Also Valavani is known for being radical in her proposal for scrutiny.
I support the vote because the outcome will destroy the European Union...a socialist regime.
I do not support the Government theft of personal capital.
If you wanted socialism, which it seems that you do, then you needed to have voted OXI, to stay in the EU.
Greece currently is EXPERIENCING the consequences of Socialism.
It seems as if you cannot identify the enemy.
You have got a long and painful road ahead of you which is very sad.
Government is the problem and never a solution.
Greeks grow a pair. Who-da-thunk it.
Note to Brussels: "How does that grab you? Who's next?"
This may be all faux drama. I've seen elections in the US where you were sure someone would win and then all of a sudden, they didn't. Wait for the final tally.
The problem with that scenario is the exit polls are there and show a strong NO lead. If that gets reversed it WILL be taken to the streets.
Remember, this is not the USA.
THIS. IS. SPARTA!!!!
Do Keynesians ever learn anything?
Note to Krugman: Greece Proves Keynesian Economics Wrong"Liberals are gearing up to use Krugman’s Greek fable of “Keynes has won” to justify further trillions of U. S. debt and growing government to ever greater heights, as Timescolumnist Nicholas Kristof reveals in his In Athens, Austerity’s Ugliness:
“Europe declared war on Keynes, and Keynes is winning…If you want to know how well (Republican budget cutting) works, come visit Europe — especially Greece. Yes, Greece needed a wake-up whack and economic reform, but Republican-style austerity knocked the patient unconscious.”

Yes, this show is gonna be worth watching. Reactions could be drastic, but Fed intereventions may also be epic. These markets are the pride and joy of the Fed, they will defend these valuations with all their vigor.
There is now some chance that they will have to close 'their' markets to defend them.
Now Russia and China should step in with a major Gas distribution pipeline hub. China should invest heavily in a major tourism upgrade to lure Chinese middle class to vaction in Greece, bring billions in dollars and jobs. These two alone would provide jobs and provide transit fees on a permanent basis. These are two simple beginnings they can make. More can be done.
The EU has nothing to offer but debt and unemployment.
In my opinion, Jack, I think the Germans are now going to blow de € to pieces. They have no improvisation talent, so if things are not going according to plan, they go full destruction.
Have you ever dealt with waves of Chinese middle-class tourists? You don't want to. 'Class' ain't the word for it. They will bring money but will fight over the last lepton.
Amen brother.
And to you doubters: ever see a Chinese grandma spread out newspaper for her grandson to take a shit . . . in a 747?
Yeah, that's what we're talking about.
I see hordes shopping in fancy malls all accross US
Don't worry. I see Kurfürstendamm 1967 in Greece's future. Putin will back Greece and so will China. China is already their #4 trading partner. (The Chinese are crazy for Greek olive oil.) If Greece becomes a Kurfürstendamm, can Bulgaria, Macedonia, Hungary be far behind?
Is it just me or are these numbers odd?
23% reporting, and 1,098,990 have voted out of 1,913,063 registered?
At only 23% reporting?
Must have some serious high population centers that have already reported.
Nevermind, the number registered is going up lol
Ack, I'm no election specialist.
Election math = Obama gets 120% of the registered vote in PA districts
Yippeeeee!!
So, a vote that did not use electronic voting machines comes out the way the people voted instead of the way the banksters wanted. How can this be?
We need a vote in the west like this NO TO FED being private!!
"your and anti-semite, write?"
what is a semite?
It's part of a term made up by the Chosenite media to attack anyone who says anything negative about socialist jews.....it's similar to homophobia.....like anyone but some little boy about to be buggered by a moehoe perv is afraid of those pansies
oh them.... to them I say NEIN!
Se little tiny bug.
Shalommmm!!!!!HAHAHHAHA
Time for a Hitler Youtube video.
Yeah the one about eur/chf kicked me from the chair ;)).
More likely NATO will conduct some "unplanned, but very important" military exercises off the Greek coast. Gotta keep the mark under your thumb you know.

IMF rescue package with super senior status incoming (rendering mostly German-issued loans to Greece worthless). The Germans once again tried to fight the law (Talmud), and the law won.
Keynes, the proponent of fiat money prosperity by debt: The new Oxi-Moron.
LOL!
Prepare for the sneak attack....
ooops "HUGE SURGE of Elderly Greeks voting late"
Too early to celebrate Greek independence.
Won't happen until Greece quits the EU and NATO.
ObamaTrade will enslave them.
The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is a proposed "free" trade agreement between the European Union and the United States.
The Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA) is a proposed international trade treaty between 24 Parties, including the European Union and the United States.
No Oxi-Morons here.
Soon to be Oxi-Contin-ent.
OXIDIZE the EU!
Schäuble said to be suffering from Hypoxia.
Had to make the OXI hook up to get that... took more than one read.
har har! looks like they got the war reparations they were asking for... Germans better fire up the money making computer for DB!
Oxi means Oxi.
qe infinity lives! btfd!
Sixty ways to leave your deutsche lover...and Martin Schulz has to eat his hat!
OXI = 60 % !!!
"Schulz, Schulz where arrrr the usual suspects?" asks Schauble!
12% counted. No leads by 20% in all regions.
Too bad the vote doesn't actually do anything but cover the socialist govt's ass slightly.
1:02 EST I'm callng it for OXI.
30% of the vote is in at 60% OXI, yes would have to capture 55-56% of the reainder to win.
Great, now I get a fucking 75 % haircut on my Greek savings account
maybe their are some young, beautiful Greek women who wanna fuck....
Well, they probably won't want to see their families starve, so I guess that'll work out for you.
good for the Greeks.
let us hope most survive the coming 'regime change' and collectively agree to forget if any bona fide nazi thugs are used to take over government buildings.
hopey changey.
Everyone is hedged for this so no problem, right?
germany has a proposal ready for release as we speak. they will not let the market open without a solution to this insurgent, terrorist horror.
That would be multiple divisions of Panzers headed southbound?
Southbound would be a lot safer for the huns than eastbound into Russia, although a one-way eastbound trip would be more fun to watch.
First stop, Tel Aviv! LOL. End the YidReign.
I have 3 cans of spam, a beet and half a turnip. Wanna trade?
I'd eat the neighbor's cat before spam.
I'm shocked and offended. You don't need to discuss your sexual proclivities here on ZH. This is an economics blog!
Is there a website for that fetish, btw?
What the hell? As far as I'm aware spam is a canned animal by-product manufactured by Hormel.
She's rattling your chain, LOL. So much locker room humor, sexual innuendo, outright vulgarity, and double entendres here, that she can't help it if she excels at that, too. She's just being silly with you, and as usual, not in a mean-spirited way. I'm sure she wouldn't tease you if she didn't like you. ;)
Vic is right I am horrible.
If you eat your neighbor's cat, are you not "eating pussy?"
I tried to be subtle.
I've always thought I am a little slow, guess I was right :D
aw, man - you aren't going to enjoy your spam if you fill up on cat first.
I mean - it's just common sense.
They may be doing stuff like that for a while.
Yep! Got this guy named . . . Corzine as my counterparty. I just called him up to gloat but he didn't answer. Probably because it's Sunday, right?
What term is more thorough than vaporized? I think that is what we are going to need...
I hope this will be the end of NWO. Have nothing against other nations, but we do not need world or collective nation governments.
Yeah cause OWN-ed sucks....Fry em all or Hang em high!

Jeffrey Sachs says Greece will be able to service their debt

This crisis will not happen
Greek FinMin seen in Athens sex shop. Big black strap-on in one hand. Plane ticket to Brussels in the other,
if its true, I'm sure they will be in a very happy place after 1yrs or 18 months. Just look at Iceland, they said it would be zombie zone, but look at how quick they were back on their feet.
Plus, you already have Russia and shadow china ready to assist through trade, not economic, shadow wars etc. I say OXI, but the banksters will do whatever they can to change it.
Greece is a show case for the whole EU right now.
assasination of Syriza leadership is very likely
be too obvious, they will do coups, cause major chaos and dry up all financial instruments. It will be a fight between the BRICS and the banksters to keep things going until they can stabalize the whole event.
Short term, pain is going to be there.
But you are dead on the money on their usual MO.
or shoot down planes
Yup. Ukraine is the template.
Now that it's too late, they say no.
Oh well...
This will cut the bankster's losses in the long run.
This didn't go the Troika's way now watch for the assassination (attempt?) on key members of the Greek government. Straight out of the John Perkins book "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" . . . .
Maybe polonium-210 in a modified umbrella?
So that's what the cartoon at the top of the article shows!
The Phony Litvinenko Murder William Dunkerley
media dumb you down much?
Troll for putin much ?
Parrot MSM much?
If Putin wanted someone dead, he would not leave an obvious trail. Fall for the African yellow cake, too?
Ahh here you are, took your time, I guess it was someone else with access to polonium and such a good reason to want him dead
I am not certain if it is fair to automatically rule out other radical players with skin in the game.
So you reject the very obvious answer in favour of vague intimations of 'other radical players with skin in the game' ?
Sorry for the belated reply. I suppose that a conspiracy theory is a cop out. Not offering a particular agent, that I feared could be easily refuted, I have a weak argument, I know.
I suspect that Russian ultra-nationalists did it without Putin's knowledge or blessing. Putin is fighting an intractable foe. Even if he was Machiavellian enough to have ordered it, the ends may justify the means. The ramifications of that assassination may not be fully known for 50 years or more. If my culture and country was nearly encircled and I believed we were fighting for our very existence, I can't say that I wouldn't do the same to slow the enemy's advance. It doesn't make it right, but name a major power that hasn't used assassination.
No problem, btw I like Harlan Ellison as well.
So now we move from vague conspiracy theory to maybe it was done by ultra nationalists without approval to finally even if it was an assasination making weak apologies for it and pointing out that others have used assasination as well ?
OXI vote a nightmare in the making for EU Technocrats and Banksters. You really think they aren't taking notes in Madrid, Dublin, and Lisbon?
about time too -60% OXI! - and this with the banks closed as a threat - this signals a new generation of politicians coming into the EU mainstream
Fuck Debt - wipe it out = all of it. that's what this vote means
There were no large debts until banking started in San Marcos Square in Venice, circa 500 A.D.
Only monarchs and a few nobles had riches.
Good times...
C'mon Germans--it's your turn. Make your gov't. puke up all that bad debt right back to the banksters.
Duplicate.
Greek refugees have been spotted in boats headed toward North Africa.
Crash this bitch!
No one owes the yids anything anywhere. Yes or No?
Now that's a referendum.
I've been bashing Democracy for awhile now as its become a mirage event. I will be very happy to be proven WRONG here. Come on people, lets move on and get to the next chapter and less suffer for the people. Down with the Troika and their masters the global elite banksters.
Eventually, this Greek dra(ch)ma may end up in a coup d'état or NATO intervention.

If Brussels and the troika were a listed stock, it would now be halted.
Molon labe, bitchez!
No to evil bankers who create BS money from nothing and then expect countries and people to borrow it. Then seize the assets and real resources with this fake BS money!
Who in their right mind could imagine that nations like US, Canada, Russia etc would have to "borrow" from private entities?? It makes no sense at all. The state should issue its own money, it should not come from these evil money changers. NO to them!!
Jesus turned over the money changers table, Greeks have done it again today.
Funny funny funny..especially with Greek music like in the Monte Python "Cheese Shop" sketch.
Sorry-was referring to Mr. Panos link below-must see!!!
Well now either the EU caves and gives them more money with no hope of ever being repaid... Or they kick Greece out of the union. Personally I'm hoping for a grexit for several reasons.
So... Opinion poll manipulation then.
It is a measure of how much I dislike the Brussels regime, the Western banksters, all their phony paraphernalia and everything it stands for, that I am rejoicing the win of a strong left political party in Greece's referendum.
What is the world coming to?
why are they defined as left?
seems another place same would be denigrated as some other negatiive,
by those who throw handy words to demonize
They nothing fit definition of leftists that i understand
A fair point. I know there's a lot of muddle and confusion about Left & Right, but Syriza are widely seen as Left due to their hard core Statism.
See the latest article here on ZH about plans to nationalise the banks.
My own yardstick is how dedicated to Statism a party is.
NATO being sent to the Greek boarder?
Greece is member of NATO.
You are saying like - France army being sent to France border.
/I guess putin regime can't afford to pay trolls who has at least 9 class eduaction.
Boy, you should talk!
I've seen 3rd graders with better mastery of English than you.
Yes, NATO is being sent to the French boarder for not paying his rent. It's tough out there.
not a bad bird's eye...
"Greece did not fail on its own. It was made to fail.
In summary, the banks wrecked the Greek government and deliberately pushed it into unsustainable debt so that oligarchs and international corporations can profit from the ensuing chaos and misery."

You nailed it, Delicate. TPTB will profit from this....they always do.
Greeks, do not stop, keep going. Others to follow soon. The last in EU turn off the light.
Next week vote for this platform:
Fuck EU. Let Russians and Chinese build brand new navy bases on few out of thousand of islands you have and now subsidize.
Drop EU and euro for drachma, Default on all the debt. Put oligarchs in jail. Make pace with Turkey. After south stream join silicon road from which collect toll on everything EU and German mofos need and enjoy your great culture, literature, philosophy, wine and plenty of R&R and let Germans sweat.
Europeans would beg for drachmas backed by massive gold of Russia and China and their commodity and economic power. You will eat EU lunch just in few years.
Make a stand against your EU slave masters, do not let them plunder your rich and beautiful country.
Drop old corrupted recalcitrant political structures organize from ground up new Hellenistic movement, first international movement of de-centralization and de-globalization of the world power as a sole purpose.
Open peoples eyes to horrible human and material cost of globalization.
Quit imperial power project once and for all, embrace your nation, embrace future of your children.
Let the eternal fire of Olympus be the spark of new XXI century world revolution of ordinary peoples's against western state/private tyranny and financial enslavement.
A revolution, first of all, of mind and soul, free of greed, betrayal, social alienation and atomization.
A revolution condemning fascists' disregard for individual human dignity and solidarity of mankind.
After you voted NO to exploitation and intimidation of EU bankers' mafia now vote YES for your future.
Greece makes 2% from EU GDP.
2% are not much... not much at all. They have great beaches but thats about it. Is Greece in EURO zone or not - really makes no difference to EU economy.
But your call to join corrupt putin regime was really funny. Especialy when it goes worse every day.
You are funny in your ignorance of what's going on. West recently tried to destroy Russia and failed. Western investors flocked to Russian as bets performing Market in the world.
With all this fascist propaganda, US & EU made Russia stronger instead. Now they're pasturing against China to have their nose bled soon. They are getting weaker and weaker cruising for bruising to cover up their impotence and to hold on to dying illusion of imperial power.
Open your eyes man, look around you. Most EU governments have 15% approval or less, people even in Germany are fed up paying Deutsche Bank debts, that Merkel loaded on them in 2010.
Germans are on hook for 130 billions euro if Greece defaults, there is no way they can pass bill to pay it otherwise Merkel is out.
Even MSM media admits, this is not economic problem it is political problem of power, the straggle of wills of recalcitrant EU power structure and enslaved nations. If this was about money why the support for bankrupt non-EU Ukrainian government.
This is all about politics an its not funny unless your comedian.
BS weak troll

Blah, blah,blah...platitudes for the nonthinkers. This type of talk puts Hitler types in power. Yes, the banksters and they're crooked money is the source of the problem. but corporations are also a major source of the problem. not to mention the ignorance of the people.
