Marine Le Pen, Anti Euro French Presidential Frontrunner, Applauds Greek Victory Over "EU Oligarchy"

Tyler Durden's picture

Ten days ago, before Varoufakis even announced his stunning break of negotiations with the Troika and proceeded to engage in a referendum which perhaps more symbolically than anything else just said a resounding "No" to the status quo, we said to Forget Grexit, "Madame Frexit" Says France Is Next: French Presidential Frontrunner Wants Out Of "Failed" Euro.

Because while the ECB could at least in theory contain the Grexit fallout with a few hundred billion in bond (and stock, since Europe is pretty much fresh out of bonds it can monetize) purchases, it will not be able to halt the contagion once it spreads to Italy, Spain and Portugal. But once it reaches France, and Marine Le Pen engages in the same type of negotiations with the Troika as Greece just did, it's all over.

Unfortunately for the ECB, that's precisely where it is headed because as Reuters just reported, "French far-right leader Marine Le Pen welcomed the early results of the Greek referendum on terms for a bailout from Europe as initial tallies showed the 'No' camp leading with results still being counted."

Le Pen, the leader of the anti-immigration, anti-euro National Front party, said in a statement that the anticipated result was a victory against "the oligarchy of the European Union".

"This 'No' from the Greek people must pave the way for a healthy new approach," said Le Pen.

"European countries should take advantage of this event to gather around the negotiating table, take stock of the failure of the euro and austerity, and organize the dissolution of the single currency system, which is needed to get back to real growth, employment and debt reduction."

Here is why we suggest the ECB panic: Le Pen's star has been on the rise in France and in Europe in the past year since her National Front party performed well in European parliamentary and French regional elections. Surveys suggest she could make the second-round run-off in the 2017 presidential election, if not win outright.

She has sought to capitalize on discontent over Socialist President Francois Hollande's handling of the economy and rising unemployment, and has made Europe's management of the Greek crisis a particular target for critique.

As a reminder, a recent Wikileaks NSA data dump showed that the French economy is in "Dire Straits", and is "Worse Than Anyone Can Imagine" which just happens to be music to Le Pen's ears.

Finally, Le Pen's platform supports the end of the common currency zone and a return to more national-based policies on everything from immigration to the economy.

Greece just made it that much easier for Le Pen to achieve her goal.

So she's a nasty fascist.  Look, I know you're a pussy-whipped nutless baby-hugging libtard and all, but please, try to think a little.  The entire west is fascist now, but like you, they call it progressivism. When the interests of government and corporations, particularly banks, are indistinguishable, that's fascism.  When government cooperates with false flag terrorism in the name of armed "security", that's fascism.  Funny thing, both the false-flag operations and the banks are run by the same religious minority.  Must be a coincidence eh.

If she's rejecting the bankers' line, she's rejecting fascism.

Oh baloney.  It's amusing that an allegedly "right wing" politician is a full-throated advocate of printing confetti money.  The only way the French franc promotes debt reduction is because the government could just print francs instead of borrowing.  The only way it ends austerity is by printing all the francs anyone wants.  The only way it promotes "real growth" would be if the French public quietly accepts wage and pension cuts through rampant inflation.  Which I doubt.  The franc would actually promote tornadic wage-price spiral, Frenchman by the million blocking the streets and making rude gestures, economic chaos, and no "real growth" to be seen anywhere.

It's important to distinguish bears who cheer Euro disintegration just because they hope it will finally make their bearish bets pay off; and morons who actually believe confetti money brings prosperity.  ZH seems to have both.

Er no. Vichy France in 1940 started a denaturalization program, no doubt similar to what Antifaschistische advocates above.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%A9volution_nationale

Germany forced none of these changes on France. The Vichy government instituted them voluntarily as part of the National Revolution

And I didn't mention racism.

@James_Cole

You forget a few things about Vichy France :

* Vichy was recognised by the US Government until end of 1942!

* Apart from the puppet government based in Vichy, there was a free government based in London under the authority of General De Gaulle.

* In all occupied countries by the Nazis, some citizens, driven by nationalism, ethnic hatred, anti-communism, anti-Semitism, or opportunism knowingly engaged in collaboration. But the LVF (Legion Volontaire Francaise), the French volunteer army that the Germans tried to organize, was a gigantic flop: Only a division was supplied to the German army, whereas the Netherlands (with a 4 times less important population) supplied 2 divisions.

* In all occupied countries by the Nazis, the Jews have been quite completely exterminated during WW2. In occupied France, “only” (if we may say) 25% of the Jews have been deported. Most of the Jews succeeded to survive thanks to the active and passive resistance of a large part of the population. This explains why France is now, by far, the country in Europe with the largest Jewish community (more than 600 000).

* During the Italian campaign of 1943, 130,000 Free French soldiers fought on the Allied side (under General Juin)

* By the time of the Normandy invasion, Free French forces numbered approximately half a million regulars and more than 100,000 French Forces of the Interior (FFI).

The FFI in Normandy and the Île-de-France region surrounding Paris began to harass German forces intensively, cutting roads and railways, setting ambushes and fighting conventional battles alongside their allies. This caused the death, arrest, or deportation of 90,000 resistance fighters  -  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Resistance

General Eisenhower estimated the value of the Résistance to have been equal to ten to fifteen divisions at the time of the landings  -  http://voices.yahoo.com/the-french-resistance-world-war-ii-400073.html

* The Free French 2nd Armored Division, under General Philippe Leclerc, landed in Normandy, and, in the waning days of summer 1944, led the drive toward Paris, and later Strasbourg.

* 3500 French pilots served in the RAF  -  http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Air_Force

and others in Russia in Normandie-Niemen Squadron  -  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normandie-Niemen

* 6 Free French divisions (230 000 men) did contribute hugely to the Provence landing - under command of General De Lattre de Tassigny (Operation Dragoon). They held their ground in Alsace during the battle of the Bulge, disobeying Eisenhower’s orders to retreat.

* In 1945 the Allied Forces on the west front consisted in:  US: 45 divisions  -  UK: 12 divisions  -  France: 9 divisions  -  Poland: 1 division.  In total, not a lot compared with the Soviet forces on the east side, the main winners of WWII.

Sun, 07/05/2015 - 18:32 | 6274021 The Delicate Genius
The Delicate Genius's picture

I did not say analogy is ad hominem.

I said analogy is not argument.

And it isn't.

You strongly implied, by referencing Vichy France, that it is racist to be opposed to immigration as it now exists in/into France.

"The question I always wonder is, when these losers run out of people to blame, who do they turn on?"

In essence, apart from summoning the Nazis, you essentially assert that resistance to open immigration is "hate" or Nazi-like because Vichy {Nazi} France did it.

The point is, this isn't an argument. You haven't addressed why wishing to limit racism is "hate". I'm fully aware you didn't explicitly mention 'hate' but it is the obvious thrust of your post.

By linking 'the desire to control immigration' with the Nazis, you merely use analogy to achieve a tacit guilt by association... HAVING NOWHERE ARGUED in support of the proposition that resistance to open immigration is, per se, racism/hate.

Now you can answer if you like, or you can try to be pedantic, as you see fit, but saying A is bad because B did A and B was bad isn't an argument - it is a fallacy.

http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/guilt-by-association.html

Since I nowhere said or suggested that analogy "is" ad hominem, I have to wonder how carefully you actually read things to which you reply.

You chose to use Vichy {i.e. 'Nazi'} France 'qua' cherry-picked effectively ad hominem reference.

"controlling immigration is bad because French Nazis controlled immigration" is not a valid argument. It is a *kind* of argument in a broad sense, sure, but here, it is not a valid argument. It is a fallacy.

I expect this thread is mostly how you roll though, so...

No, i was responding to a SPECIFIC comment with a SPECIFIC reference. In this case a comment was made that France should retroactively strip citizenship, I made the comparison to vichy france.. who did this very thing in 1940.

Whatever else you're bringing to this is your shit.

It is a *kind* of argument in a broad sense, sure, but here, it is not a valid argument. It is a fallacy.

Wiki is helpful:

P and Q are similar in respect to properties a, b, and c.
P has been observed to have further property x.
Therefore, Q probably has property x also.

>> Vichy is well known to have been fascist, my implication is that FN is also a fascist organization based on shared properties between the two. Inability to acknowledge what FN fundamentally is (fascist) is a long running theme on zh.

Further, I pointed out that these types of organizations typically employ hatred on convenient scapegoat minorities to consolidate power. On the topic of immigration itself I have made no comment in the above.

You have a point, from a tourist perspective.  I remember as a student, staying in a pensione in Rome for $12 per night, back in the days of lira with lots of zeros.  If European countries "revalue" themselves, I and about 60 million Chinese tourists would appreciate the bargains.

I was in Strasbourg a couple of years ago, and the typical shopping mall crowd seemed like a tea break at a UN conference.  A solid majority were Russian, Polish, Arab, African, or anything else but French.  If France reverts to confetti money, perhaps some of those immigrants will say what's the point and go home.

This will be the first test:  after the Grexit, what currency do property owners use to quote prices for their rentals on Airbnb?  If they stick with Euros, will the prices soften at all?

"anti-immigration" is a term used to lump in sensible, moderate, reasonable calls for restricted immigration with a small {<5%} "far right" call for the same.

As it becomes clear that a major goal of the EU project is to destroy [via change via mass immigration] the ethnic and cultural identity of even small, non-colonialist European states {e.g. Ireland, Sweden} the question becomes - "why"? and do people *really* think that it is "racist" to not want to become demographically replaced by another ethnic group or groups in one's own homeland?

Perhaps ultimately this immigration will be a good thing - I'm not claiming it is certain disaster.

I'd just claim that the demographic metamorphosis of European nations is an open and obvious goal, and without any real debate at all, opposition to this is thoughtlessly, and effective dismissed by the term "anti-immigrant" which emanates from an actually racist {or at least racialist} quest to make europeans minorities in their own nation-states, and it is not done for their benefit.

The point being that totalitarian statism is "left", of which both Hitler and Stalin were proponents.

What the "left" media and politicians love doing is equating fascists like Hitler with libertarian, small government, personal freedom loving constitutionalist, if you get my drift.   The "right" as defined by Hitler couldn't be more opposite than the so-called "right" of personal liberty and individual responsibility, yet the latter are thrown in with the former by the current "progressive" totalitarians.

The revolt has already begun.

It is not Hot War here, yet. It is not a Hot War in Greece, yet.

The next major slavo fired will be from an assassain gun's into Tsipras' head and chest. The CIA most likely has already arranged the hit.

Since TPTB did not get the result which they wanted at the election then they will resort to violence. Then Greece devolves into a Civil War.

But by that time the ripples from the tsunami of Bank Failures will have hit our shores and Credit Freeze II will shut down our Banks. And America is prime for violence. That is the reason for Jade Helm 15. The troops will already be deployed in a vain attempt to ameliorate the consequences of systemic Financial Failure.

It may devolve into a Hot War here.

Store cash. For six weeks it will be king after the ATMs stop working and nobody can get any goods without cash. There is not enough cash to supply the US Economy during the shutdown..

Buy up Gold and Silver during thse six weeks with the stored cash as Gold and Silver will be going for bargain prices.

The Federal Reserve will print massive amounts of Physical Cash in order to get some flow back into the system.

But concurrently as Foreign Central Banks will also become insolvent due to the tsunami of the ECB failure they will be liquidating the massive stores of the $12 Trillion in Physical Cash which they hold in their vaults. That will make its way back to American shores roughly at the same time that the Fed has released the cash.

That will ignite the Hyperinflationary Storm of which the likes have never been seen.

And if I am wrong...You can always deposit your cash back into a Bank. Better to be prepared One Year to early than not be prepared one day too late.

"European countries should take advantage of this event to gather around the negotiating table, take stock of the failure of the euro and austerity, and organize the dissolution of the single currency system, which is needed to get back to real growth, employment and debt reduction."

Austerity means "live within your means". That means keep your trading promises. Don't stiff your trading partners.

If they gather around the table they should do some introspection. They should realize:

  • All governments have gotten too large and invasive
  • All Mediums of Exchange are mismanaged to the benefit of the 0.1%
  • The Euro has succeeded beyond all expectations ... for the 0.1%
  • If governments don't progressively pare down, they will rapidly become disemboweled.
  • Dissolving a failed MOE and replacing it with another improperly managed MOE does no good.

Welll if they want weak currency, let them have it. Having a strrong currency with socialism built on it doesn't work as well. They need to print money and hope things won't turn to shit. This is to be expected. People want a scapegoat for their problems, so they want to blame the currency, or Germany, or whatever. If they want a weak currency, because they can't compete, let it be.

France devalued 15 times since 1914 the truth is that we were never competitive so we resort to devaluation and stealing savings.

The economic history of France is bloody, (Search after the Assignat collapse after the French revolution).

Either way, we are fucked a non-reimbursable debt of 2000 Billions € will go full monetizing via devalued Franc or just plain default bonds (Treasuries) which French detain massively via their Livret A, Assurance Vie (Life Insurance) and other structured product.

Tomorrow will be bloody for sure ,then people will vote again for statism and centralization (Jacobinism) policies who never worked in the first place...

We are fucked, RIP.

toward both Libya and Russia.

Her opposition to both the warmongers of NATO,

and the global financial criminals outweighs whatever

other faults she allegedly has.

[also note, to describe her policies as "anti-immigration" is deviously false.

The "immigration" problems of the US and Europe are caused by the wave of emigrants attempting to flee the so-called wars of terror,, drugs, apartheid, and exploitative finance being waged by the US and its "allies". It is irrational to claim that the self-made "immigration" problems can be resolved without remedying the cause]

Here's the fundamental problem: The purpose of the EU is to keep Germany from economically dominating the European continent. Unfortunately, Germany is the only country with an economy big enough to pay for this effort.

Essentially, the EU is about Germany ratifying its own servitude to the rest of Europe.

This isn't a recipe for economic stability, and once the economic stability goes, well, there goes the political stability, too.

Won't be pretty.
