Record debt – I’m no fan of the debt but its been “record-er” under every post-war president. That said, its worth pointing out that the rate of growth is now about as low as its been since the 1970’s.

I would give Tricky Dick half a break. Yes, he took us off the gold standard, but that was more of a reaction to being forced off the gold standard by several things: paying for the Great Society, paying for the Moon landings, paying for the Vietnam Nam War, and the energy crisis. The only argument against this would be if Tricky Dick would have ended these things sooner he might have saved us. Instead he continued the overspending through his first 4 years and by then it was too late.
