Central Banker Daily Bread:

1. Trick everyone into trusting you

2. Create monetary (or any other financial related) crisis

3. Tell everyone (because they trust you) you can solve the crisis

4. Make it worse

5. Assure everyone that seizing deposits, flooding the system with currency, having never ending meetings and summits will solve the worser crisis

6. Make $trillions

7. Ease the crisis

8. Renew trust

9. Repeat Steps 2-8

One thing I know for sure is if we get extreme volatility, it's because the bankers want extreme volatility.

The captain of a ship can make a boat go left or right, and manage boyancy to a degree.  The captain of a ship cannot always stop a ship from capsizing when confronted by the full force of nature.

The more of the 'market' they buy, the less difference it makes.  They have to keep the market going up to seduce the greater fools, but there's a limit - When they get 50.00[..]001% what's the expected ROI?

Rained like a bitch the last two days here in the high desert.  Monsoon season, flash flooding, dry lakes are full, standing water everywhere.  I've been turning in government locations for using water on the asphalt.  Good times.

i wish to offer my apologies for the above post, particularly to you ms miffed.  i sometimes forget the large numbers of people who will be reading this and i wanted to edit them out but that is no longer an option.

i can only say in my defense that the charts have no basis in reality and i had just come in from a hard track workout with track temps above 102 and i was a still buzzed from the endorphins.

again i sincerely apologize for my banal and carnal comments.

My dear stormsailer,

Now it is my turn to feel bad! I was only teasing you and wasn't offended in the least. Really! I wish I hadn't commented so you could have edited if that was your wish.

I realize ZH is primarily a blog for men. There are few places today where men can congregate, spin some yarn, let the testosterone flow and then dare each other to do something stupid ( working in the medical field, I've seen the results of " hold my beer" many times. my goodness, you men do know how to disembowel yourselves). It really troubles me this has been taken away from all of you. Women have private organizations, why not men? The inequity really troubles me and I do wish I could do something about it.

I decided when I joined I would always try to be a good female guest. Not complain or have any female melt downs ( not that I have those anyway, maybe that's a reason why my husband just beams in my presence after all these years. Or maybe it my 36D and voluptuous figure? Who knows what's in the heart and minds of men? At least here I can get a glimpse of you creatures unedited uninhibited and free ranged)

You know what I think? Just enjoy those endorphins coupled with a good old surge of testosterone. And once that is stirred up, it better have a focus of release or you shall go nuts. This is what makes life passionate and fun. And if this bothers anyone, they can just fuck themselves. Ok, not too lady like of me but hell, I'm on ZH!

In friendship,

Miffed;-)

Its been dry and hot here, mostly, since late spring. We have been getting a little rain in the last couple of weeks but Id say we are still under drought conditions. Im in NW NC and this is one of the driest and hottest spring/summer seasons in several years. Between the heat, drought, bugs, various animals, and me hating hot weather, my garden isnt looking so well this year. I plan for such occurences, though, and make sure Ive enough to last for awhile. The hayfields are only yielding half the usual grass and the pastures are so bad that the cattle are already being fed bales of hay. Its going to be a rough winter for the cattle if it doesnt start raining with greater frequency. Calves that were $150 last year are up to $400, now. I may have to get into the cattle bidness, if for no other reason than raising my own beef (and keeping the grass mowed on the cheap).

Was there, or was there not - right on this site, say about 6 - 8 months ago, (1) or (2) successive articles essentially putting lie to the VIX, as simply another manipulated index/measuring tool...?   Not that I disagree, but if that is/was the case, should any of this matter...?

This is the shemitah year. The new hebrew year that begins on September 13th is believed to be the jubilee year (although that is not a complete certainty). In Biblical times, the terms of loans included recognition that debt was to be cancelled during the year of jubilee. No need to be shocked if debt instruments unwind starting in September.
