The 'Smart' Money Has Been Dumping Stocks Since Greferendum
Despite the ups and down of the last few weeks, 'relative' stability in US equities has confirmed talking heads' bias that 'Greece is contained'. However, Bloomberg's Smart Money flow indicator suggests that the big money (that trades at the open and close) is anything but believing and has in fact been selling since Greferedum...

Smart money my ass. Crooked money maybe.
Of course, but crooked doesn't mean stupid......
You are correct. On the other hand is Goldman and all who follow their suggestions considered smart money? Or crooked? Or dumb? Inquiring minds want to know.
Green bitchezzz!
You mean the crook insiders
there is no such thing as the smart money (either you are in the innercircle or you are not )
...and all who follow their suggestions considered smart money? Or crooked? Or dumb?
Clients are called muppets and generally don't mind losing money because they are often foreigners buying into the usa protection racket or else it isn't their money. In other words, not necessarily stupid. Anyone on the outside who reads a squid prognostication and then acts on it is definitely dumb money.
GS is smart, their suggestions are simple manipulation. They will tell you the truth one day and lie to your face the next, whatever benefits them most.
You have to remember, GS makes their money by getting a cut of the bets. It doesn't matter up or down to them, but they are big in derivatives and really does scare them.....
Yup and it is kind of hard to be stupid when you are told in advance what is going to happen and what to do when it happens.
BTFD before the market goes green. Don't matter what the smart money is doing. FED software controls this market.
Lots of buying going on since GS reported "no signs of buyers" report.
+100 agree. SnP moves 24 pts. in like half an hour, - yup no sign of buyers here.
Don't suppose you actually watched volume. There was very little volume in the walk-up.
Meaning it was just a computer price re-set higher and not real buying.
US Mint sold out of Silver Eagles until August

Thanks. Now move along...
audit the fucking piece of shit fed and banks right fucking now. fucking 23 s&p pts down and brought back to green within an hour.
these bastards must be audited, i want to see wtf these assholes r buying.
fuck the fed!!!!
tmir - still angry after all these years. awesome.
That audit will come after the markets collapses and the guilty has fled the country......
They will find a HFT computer in some dude's Mom's basement and claim they found the source of the collapse.
Yeah and it will turn out to be the dude making those posts saying "my dog's best friend's owner's hooker makes $3000..."
+1000
"Says they have nothing and aren't buying anything either, sir.
Any other questions?
"these bastards must be audited" If not by congress/doj/fbi/local citizens, at least by Scientology
I'm more interested in what the dumb money is doing (AKA poor unsuspecting US taxpayer)
"On behalf of the taxpayer the Government is buying stocks ma'am. Can I get your coat for you?...
dumping stocks and buying what?
Sshh...don't shout it out. I think it might start with a "G".
Phyz, BTC, anything the media tells you not to buy.
The smart money hasn't done a GOD DAMN THING.
(Note to self: just sit there and sleep all day like all the other rich guys I know.)
Seriously (tm) I wish I was levered 1000 to 1 on treasuries right now.
"Next up: Chicago! And I ain't talking the Band!"
the s&p is turning japanese. how funny!
bad sushi breakfast, good sushi lunch.
You really think so..?
Smart = Dumb in the "New Weirdo" Genius will be playing catch up with idiot tomorrow.
Welcome to Zero Cost of Goods policy folks ... don't worry repacked greek debt is SAFE and SOUND . China is doing splendidly given the state of its economy at the moment and the rest of the world does NOT have a debt problem at all. Only through a ZIRP can the debts of different nations/institutions can be maintained at all ... but there is always a point where you can lose control of a no depth market. ZIRP is only brillant as long as bons find a buyer and i wish CB good luck finding just that ... a buy side to CDO's that have made a great return in the US. I am not bearish though , this show can go on for a whle longer , may be not in the EU , the german exposure to Credit Derivatives containning repackaged collateral is starting to show and it DOES look uglier by the day.
Topping phase, distribution taking place. It's a slow process in the beginning and it will accelerate from here. The manipulation of the credit market has created abnormal behavior in the other markets, but in the end the markets will do what they have to do. Unfortunately this will bring nothing but misery and depression. But the talking heads of BNN and CNBC will be the last to see it, so don't worry, be happy.
Leaving the rest of the crowd to MSNBC and CNBC. Buy! Buy!
PMs up slightly...
Maybe, but the computer market control been keeping the prices up with low volume walk-ups. It is the best way for the insiders to maximize returns.
The question is: Who is buying at these inflated prices? We are not China and people here have more experience with banker market manipulation.
when we have control again we will ddo it right, just have to be very careful now til it gets better
Not sure how Bloomberg calculates the "Smart Money Flow".
The "Smart Money" does not leave an easy trail to follow.
Gee, when I look at that data, I don't exactly see how the 'smart money' is doing anything smart...
If they were really smart and wanted back to cash they would wait till we are making new highs in a couple weeks. This bull market is far from over though. If you are not buying this dip you are doing it wrong. Central banks haven't given up yet.
Draincocks opening... sucking sound in 3..2..1.
