NYSE Hopes To Reopen At 3:10 PM
Just out from the NYSE:
NYSE and NYSE MKT are planning to resume trading on the following schedule. Based on consultation with the industry, trading will resume without a re-opening auction.
MARKET RE-OPEN TIMES
We will begin accepting orders and resume trading according to the following schedule:
- 3:05pm NYSE MKT - Primaries only
- 3:10pm NYSE
Closing auctions will continue as normal.
Customers with connections to BCCG gateways:
Customers should set the last sequence number received to -1 before reconnecting
Customers may continue with the next Client Order ID. There is no need to reset the Client Order ID.
Customers with questions may contact the NYSE Trading Services Desk at 1-212-896-2830.

Vote - my vote is they reopen to clear out the shorts & stops.
They're taking a heluva risk if they reopen 50 minutes before the close. I know all the good reasons they have for hitting the close in normal operating fashion, but what if it doesn't reopen smoothly? What if it falls over again? They're completely fucked. I wouldn't reopen with so little time to react if there's a problem.

the outage this morning was a chaos event - trust me, an unexpected technical issue. They test system functionality and code releases continuously. And they would never release code during the trading day.
This morning was some kind of Boolean violation - an event happened that shouldn't / couldn't and wouldn't happen (but it did).

I played EVE for 8 years, decided I had enough. CCP kept nerfing anything with an advantage. They have created a world where nothing can be accomplished well or quickly by an individual. Doesn't suit my Libertarian tastes.
Despite all its faults, and they are many,I keep playing because in the end there's no other game that even comes close.
