Threat level orange-red! Someone sent us up the bomb.

Activate: Jesse Ventura GO! For greater justice...

In the interview, he says of the two major parties: “They’ve turned the whole business of elections into panhandling and bribery,” and “These two parties now have America $9 trillion in debt.” Ventura says people who work their entire lives to leave something for their children are actually just leaving an inheritance that will be seized by government to service the national debt.

One remedy Ventura sees for crushing the “two-party dictatorship” is the inclusion of None of the Above as an electoral option at all levels. Ventura says he believes NOTA would win many races across the country. He also said a “wasted vote” is when you don’t vote your heart or vote your conscience. Ventura mentioned a Larry King poll that said 88% of respondents, of which there were more than 15,000, said Jesse Ventura should be running for president.

Whoops... Make that the NOTA party.

Trump has been for years a HUGE contributor to the Democrat party.  Just saying- he plays both sides.  He's a statist and he loves his government buddies as much as any large businessman.  Yeah, he says truthy-sounding things, but I haven't met a politician yet who didn't know how to do that when they needed to, though rarely with his sharp tongue.  The comment above about his first words in any situation being "I'll sue!" is spot-on as well.

This is bordering on hero worship with this guy and, frankly, I think that's dangerous.  That's exactly how the Ds ended up shoving Obama down everyone's throat and look how lousy that turned out.

If however you don't want to be relegated to mere scraps from the wealthy bags who obviously don't give a damn about you, your family, or your country one way or another, then please have a good read and wake the hell up already...

But, if you think any of these wealthy bags will do anything other than what they have been doing for the many centuries, then you are obviously on the wrong forums all together. For those who lack an education, have a good watch here, it will tell you the real deal..

"The Donald" has an unfiltered brain to mouth connection.  This is a good and a bad thing for him. Good because he says what many people are thinking, bad because it isn't always the truth or based in fact.  His Hitler like Nationalistic retoric would push us that much closer to WW3, and I get the feeling that the Donald might have a quick trigger finger on the nuclear arsenal?  I can picture the Donald behind his desk in the Oval Office saying "Nuke 'em" to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Plus he is really not a big supporter of gun rights, he has said in the past he supports a nationwide "assault" weapons ban.

That said, I like the image of him saying "You're FIRED" to thousands of parasites in and around Washington D.C.

Parasitic fucks, yes. And pawns, yes. But socialist? How?

Redistributing crumbs from the capitalist economy to make sure the serfs don’t revolt doesn’t make you a socialist. Capitalism is defined by who owns the means of production – and not by how free the “markets” are, how big the government is or how regulated the economy is, but solely on who owns the shit-show. And it’s almost exclusively owned by a tiny minority (the 0,01%).

We’ve got fascism – the states of the western world have ben hijacked by the corporations/banks = corporatism = fascism. It’s still capitalism – just another version than the wet dream of ‘libertarians’.

And I will add: the version we see of capitalism right now is the natural/logical endgame of all capitalistic economies.

In a former thread someone defined capitalism as ‘a contest’ that would make sure the best got to the top. Yes, but what then? What happens after the ‘contest’ and the winner has it all and passes it on to the next generation? And the next? After centuries of capitalism you end up with everything owned by a tiny minority – voila, that’s what we got today.

Adam Smith saw this coming, and argued for substantial taxes on inheritance – inheritance is anti-meritocracy. By the way, he also argued for regulation of the market otherwise monopolies/cartels would arise per design.

As a businessman operating from NY, I would suggest if he did not support democrats, he would have hit a much greater resistance in his successes. Look at just the last two weeks. The blow back from the left wing is always severe. Remember, this is cronyism and if you want to win its the only way to play. Those who stand on principles alone will not get far. As such, everyone justifies the means to an end, but seldom do we find them redeemed when there time comes. Trump is saying the right things but we have every reason to be cynical. We have been fooled before and will be fooled again.

Wrong.  The popularity of Trump and Sanders is they are actually talking reality versus the papsmear crapola that comes out of the mouths of the corporate polititcians from both sides.  They also actually have policies that appeal to the majority of the people in their respective parties.  Most people oppose the crony trade deals that get signed that do nothing for the people yet enrich the CEO and the politician that passes the bill after they are out and get massive "speaking" fees.  Not the corporatists such as Bush and Hillary - never met a trade deal favorable to corporations they didnt like.  Quid, meet Pro and Quo.

Southpark said it best regarding voting and elections: But Stan, don't you know, it's always between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.  Nearly every election since the beginning of time has been between some douche and some turd. They're the only people who suck up enough to make it that far in politics."

That's clever and all, but the result of people of principle not battling more for the soul of the US by serving in office, is that we're now pretty far down the path to a grinding police/MIC state.  I suppose some small percentage of principled people actually do get elected - but even they almost always get beaten down into politicos who will tow the party line.

It’s a very good point, JRobby. The country isn’t what the media says it is. Otherwise, the people wouldn’t be voting for Trump. And people like Ann Coulter wouldn't be selling books like hotcakes and showing up as a preferred guest on Fox and other outlets. She says what the Republican base wants to hear:

On immigration, Coulter describes how both Republicans and Democrats are attempting to avoid the immigration problem, countering Chris Christie’s recent remarks that fences don’t work because humans can overcome them with the quip, “Of course fences work. That’s like saying buckets won’t work! Americans aren’t stupid — why doesn’t Christie tell that to Israel or China, because their fences work just fine.”

And one more thing: Coulter has become one of the hottest talk show guests lately because...she's praising Donald Trump!!

Anyone who would dare speak truth enough to inflame the leftist press will be destroyed by them. That is their job.

Republicans live in absolute fear of the press. Even the hated Fox news has become so centrist in their primary analysis that they dare not speak in offensive tones. They want to interview Obama. They want to moderate democrat primary and general election debates. They crave acceptance by the left and will lick their boots to get it. They only care about holding power, and will lie to achieve it, simply telling us that while they "appear" to be capitulating, they are only forming another cunning plan to trick the democrats and Obama. The fuckers are simply cowards. They have refused to make anything more than an illusionary stand immediately before capitulating. Now they are even admitting they are delirious that Obama is siding with them on things like this "fuck us in the ass" trade bill. They are furious at the likes of Trump or Cruze for daring to speak the truth. They claim it is inflammatory and stifles the conversation about reform...something they know nothing about except to take a bad situation and make it worse.

These fucking republicans will sell our ass so far down the river we will never find our way back. They have a cunning plan of victory through retreat. They want us to believe if we give the progressives enough rope they will hang themselves, that people will see the foolishness of their ways and put a stop to it, but it won't. Just watching them twitch over the possibility that SCOTUS would kill Obamacare was enough to show their colors while also proving their theme incorrect. The subsidies that government is providing are already so sacrosanct that the republicans were in complete terror that they would be blamed for their loss. Progressives are addicting the public to dependency and every inch they gain in this will NEVER be turned back until the whole damned thing collapses. The "people" will never blame the left for their dependency, and will try to destroy anyone who tries to take the goodies away.

Trump and Cruze will make lots of noise but they can't win against this, and any "main stream" republican will only slow, but do nothing to stop, our acceleration towards the drain.

Beyond that a President can do far more to prevent things with vetos and EO than to implement them.  I'd trade what legislation Bernie would Nuke for whatever piecemeal stuff he could get passed a GOP Congress.  Take your victories where you can get them...

Which is why I posted the Ventura piece - it has nothing to do with him running for president (it was in 2008). Ventura knew his election was useless - HE would have rather seen a NOTA choice than get elected as a protest vote. The Minnesota voters wanted Team Blue/Red to hear "YOU SUCK" loud and clear. Instead, it became the "Why MSM hates Jesse" story.

I WOULD actually vote if None Of The Above was a choice for every race, it was accurately counted and reported in the results. I would support it even if there was a candidate I did want to vote for (and presumably win) in the race. It will never, ever happen in my lifetime, though.

"House Republicans investigating the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya, on Wednesday released a March subpoena issued to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, one day after she said in a nationally televised interview that she "never had a subpoena" in the email controversy.

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., chairman of the Benghazi panel, said he had "no choice" but to make the subpoena public "in order to correct the inaccuracy" of Clinton's claim.

Clinton told CNN on Monday that she "never had a subpoena," adding: "Everything I did was permitted by law and regulation."

That's the way he won in Kentucky for senate against alot of big money going for his opponents in the republican primary and main election. It matters two shits what label you put on an economy.  Socialism, Capitalism, Fascim, Communism... etc...  What matters is how the pie is divided and is it getting bigger or smaller?  It can happen under all of these "models".  What matters is how the laws are set up, how the courts work (or dont), trust in the system and its "fairness" (or at least peoples belief that it is fair or rules based).  All of these systems can be corrupted to deliver the fruits of an economy to a chosen few and screw the average person.

Fri, 07/10/2015 - 04:49 | 6294091 Memedada
Memedada's picture

You’re right and you’re not.

It’s obvious that all economic systems can be abused.

However, it’s also a good idea to have a language to describe different economic systems.

We’re living in a CAPITALIST economy: “Capitalism is an economic system and a mode of production in which trade, industries, and the means of production are largely or entirely privately owned”.

You can have many different forms of capitalism. Free markets are NOT DEFINING of capitalism – some argue that free markets are more efficient (for the economy as a whole), but it’s not defining of whether or not it’s a capitalist economic system. The size of the state or the interference of government is likewise NOT DEFINING of capitalism. You can have a huge state and massive government interference and still have capitalism – like in fascist states.

Many on ZH – I guess mostly proponents of the US version of ‘libertarianism’ (I’m a Europe based libertarian = I’m a left-wing anarchist) – see all statism or all form of government as equal not capitalism (= socialism/communism/crony-capitalism etc.). That’s not true. Capitalism is basically just whether or not the economy is based on private ownership of the means of production or not. Since just about everything is owned by a small ‘elite’ the system fits perfect with the definition of capitalism. It might not be the version of capitalism that some are dreaming about but it’s still capitalism.

Everything the US state does is on behalf of it’s corporate (capitalist) masters.

Fri, 07/10/2015 - 05:05 | 6294108 Memedada
Memedada's picture

And before some ZH-libertarian goes berserk in a Rand(t) about the impossibility of a left-wing libertarian: “Remember that the United States is out of the world on this type of thing. Britain is to a limited extent, but the United States is on Mars. So here, the term 'libertarian' means the opposite of what it always meant in history. 'Libertarian' throughout European history meant 'socialist-anarchist.' The worker's movement--the socialist movement--sort of broke into 2 branches, one statist, one anti-statist. The statist branch led to Bolshevism and Lenin and Trotsky and so on; the anti-statist branch, which included left-Marxists like Rosa Luxumberg, kind of merged with a big strain of anarchism into what was called 'libertarian socialism.' So 'libertarian' in Europe always meant 'socialist.' Here, it means ultra-Ayn Rand or Cato Institute or something like that. But that's a special US usage having to do with the--there are a lot of things special here."

And what do you call a 'system' where the production of 'capital' is by a select group tied to the gov't? You definition of 'Capitalism' is obsolete. What you have when central banks create capital' without any labor and distribute it unequally is not 'Capitalism'.

Sounds perfect. We have a long line of assholes who have made it their goal to piss off every nation and religion (including former allies) in the world, and now we will elect someone who will insist the best defense against the rage is sticking our head in the sand and promising we will never do it again.

People better figure out we are fresh out of friends and regardless of our past, and especially of our past, we had best keep our knuckles fisted and ready. But this is not to say we should continue as we have, saving the world and intervening in other people's business. I want to waste tax money on national defense to protect OUR soil....just like I have wasted it on filling my safes with guns and ammo....hoping I will never be forced to use them, but never letting anyone think I will hesitate to use them. I sure as fuck won't extend my life span by walking around waving guns at everyone I see, but I neither want them to see me as weak. America currently looks still relatively strong militarily but stupid and clumsy. We are watching, as is the rest of the world, while we strip our military of its soldier leaders and replacing them with political stooges. We are fucking our vets at the VA, and firing another 10%, with no plans as far as I can tell for any real defensive strategy...other than to lead from behind...drone a few folks from time to time and try and bribe them with US dollars that are quickly losing their international appeal.

Nope. Things are fucked up enough without Bernie.
