Bitcoin Soars By 10%: Does Someone Know Something?

Tyler Durden's picture

Despite the exuberance in US and European equity markets, it appears Bitcoin is sending a different (avoid the looming capital controls) message... Does someone know something?

Bitcoin is soaring on heavy volume...

This is the highest level in 4 months...

There is some seriously insane volume coming out of China in Litecoin more recently.  Seems that they were bidding that up too.

Litecoin is pushed up with a desperate pump campaign, involving a litecoin ponzi scheme. That coin shows no real growth besides fabricated trading volume on $0 fee chinese exchanges (check the statistics of the litecoin blockchain).

It's best to stay away from the litecoin pump.

BTC is finishing it's rounded bottom and is headed back to its ATH.  Faith is what keeps people in fiat and Bitcoin will be there to capitalize on the loss of it.  Yeah, Yeah, btc won't be spendable if the power goes down, but that will be the least of your worries.  In a power down scenario, only 10% survive one year... check out the DOD war games reports if you don't believe it.

Yes.  I always wonder what the gold and silver horders would do if civilization ever went down the crapper. Pull out their 1oz silver coin and try to buy 15 loaves of bread with it? Physical money in any form would be almost meaningless in a SHTF situation. Holding it would probably get one killed.

No matter what the world throws at you it is best to be optimistic about the future. I see great social progress and a world of digital currency ahead of us.

And if the world goes to Hell I don't need a gun to protect my Bitcoins if I own the private keys!

If you find yourself in a situation where a gun is needed for protection from anything, the last fucking thing you will care about is your bitcoin that is floating somewhere out in the etherworld.

Great social progress? WTF? Have you read the news lately and not the spoon fed MSM version?

I am optimistic as well, but also realistic.

Bitcoin doesn't do it for me. I can't get past, "if you don't hold it you don't own it." and digital things are way too ethereal for me.

Exactly, physical gold and silver bars could all be represented by a bitcoin token and fully audited in real time and time stamped to prevent unallocated, rehypothecated securities.

Ironic that Bitcoin may end up being the best friend of the precious metals.

Beg to differ, but you can mix a few pre 64 silver and a couple of gold coins in your pocket "leave Dodge" and exchange them pretty much anyplace on planet Earth without too much trouble. Try getting some veggies in a market in the middle of nowhere with some BC. Or, during a power outage.

Nothing wrong with some diversification. Not as if you use all that bugout gold while the lights are still on and the water is still running. Go ahead and use good ol' YellenBux if that floats your boat but there's an alternative if you look for it.

I began to notice about 9 months ago that BC seemed to go up , when Gold and Silver should be going up (and actually went down when BC went up and vice versa). Might be a great solution. But I'm sorry I don't trust it.

Note. I doubled my money on run up 600 to $1000. But I haven't been back since. Although i admit I can't stop following it.

Will there ever be a time where people with goods ONLY accept bitcoin?

Will there ever be a time where people with goods ONLY accept REAL money?

Right now, theres only one answer, and the other is tulips.

The fact is this: BTC is a real, hard commodity. It provides a float for all currencies, and will survive as long as encryption survives.

In DC some time back, many politicians got together to discuss Bitcoin. Decided it was okay. Remember that??  Bitcoin was not at this meeting but Ripple labs was(and some former Bitcoin folks working for Ripple labs). XRP is the "coin's" handle. It is actually a multi currency converter digital payment measure, moreso than a cryptocoin. I decided I'd watch what they do and who's in the room.  Disclosure: I have some BTC, I have some XRP. that is all.

I know.

Bitcoin is free market private money.

It resembles gold in that the money volume is outside the control of any money manager.

It has better money qualities than gold, so paper substitutes and bank deposits and loans are to a lesser degree necessary.

I've never liked virtual anyting. Not a fan of bitcoin, you can virtually lose everyting.

What I did like was BitGold. New player in the field. You can take delivery of yoar metal if you wish, which is stored in a secure vault. They will be issuing debit cards for ATM dispensing fiat in the local currency of where you are.

So far I like what I see.

I've seen many XBT bubbles, here we go again!  One thing is for sure, there are people making money on the new fish.  Same as it ever was.

I knew XBT was destined for failure based on several factors, but probably the most prominent is the push for a cashless society.  That means the government plans to roll out some sort of digital currency, and it definitely won't be Bitcoin.  Adios muchachos ..
