Perhaps not Orwell's 'thought crime', per se, but just how far are we from losing our freedom, being drugged up, and tormented by some psychopathic progressive psychologist? Even if you win your freedom, you will likely never be able to keep and bear arms again.

This is an organization that is essentially dominated by mental health practitioners and it did not ban the presence of members at interrogations on the theory that their presence protected the interogatees. Ho, ho , ho.
Of course other professionals were inplicated in the torture program. Lawyers for example. But everyone expects that kind of behavior from lawyers.

Which points to a question raised by the Germans in relation to the Nazis. Why did so many people go along with a program that was so obviously gainst their personal interests. I think most people on this website understand what a struggle it is to be different and not to be able to act on it.
There are people who can genuinely benefit from the ability to vent steam by talking to someone. Unfortunately the whole exercise has been turned into a gigantic method of conformity inducement and mass inculcation.
All the neurosis created by refusing to acknowledge that people are unhappy with the course of their lives and feel trapped also feeds into the drug industry. How convenient.

Pharmacologicals and electro convulsive therapy fall under the pervue of the other APA, the psychiatrists association. Psychologists are not doctors and can't prescribe drugs.
But as is indicated by my post below, the psychologist organization is controlled by doctors.
The American Psychological Torture Association is controlled by various forces, and logic, that the American Psychological Torture Association, and their numerous PhDs, don't quite fully comprehend, and likely never will, believe me. I could tell you stuff that would curl your toes on the level of ignorance in Experimental Psychology, and the bureaucracy that governs it. It is really a dangerous discipline when one gets to the top of the bureaucracy, and I once did, unfortunately.
Bottom line is that I own Experimental Psychology, and it is my bitch, and always will be.
Unfortunately it's a common misconception. Pyschologists wage a constant battle with psychiatrists on a daily basis. Psychiatry's interpretation of mental illness is one of a biological and disease based nature. For confirmation see their bible, the DSM-5. They diagnose and prescribe "cures" with little to no input or say from the patient. We strive to formulate cognitive based therapies with clients. What you're describing are the MIC, NSA and CIA pyschopaths and contractors. It's doubtful more than one or two even have a formal education in psychology. What they practice is far from what one would call therapeutic assessment.
The AMA/APA are pretty protective of their fiefdom re: Rx. Of course, that's great for everybody but the patient: at least two different office visits to pay for, or two separate insurance claims to be made.
