Tsipras Releases Statement Following Greek "Deal", Will "Fight To Regain Lost National Sovereignty"

Tyler Durden's picture

Just released by the website of the Greek Prime Minister is Tsipras' statement about many things but most importanttly how he plans to "fight" to regain the "lost national sovereignty" - sovereignty which one may ask was lost by whom exactly...

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ statement following the conclusion of the Eurozone Summit

We have been fighting hard for six months now, and we fought until the end to achieve the best possible outcome, an agreement that will enable the country to get back on its feet, and for the Greek people to be able to continue to fight.

We faced tough decisions, tough dilemmas. We assumed responsibility for the decision in order to prevent the most extreme objectives from being implemented—those pushed for by the most extreme conservative forces in the European Union.

The agreement calls for tough measures. However, we prevented the transfer of public property abroad, we prevented the financial asphyxiation and the collapse of the financial system—this was planned to the last detail – having recently been designed to perfection, and in the process of being implemented.

Finally, in this tough battle, we managed to gain the restructuring of the debt and a financing process for the medium-term.

We were aware that it would not be an easy task, but we have created a very important legacy. An important legacy, and a much-needed change throughout Europe. Greece will continue to fight, and we will continue to fight, so that we can return to growth, regain our lost national sovereignty. We earned our popular sovereignty. We sent a message of democracy, a message of dignity throughout Europe and the world. This is the most important legacy.

Finally, I would like to thank all of my colleagues–ministers, colleagues and associates who gave, along with me, a very tough fight. A fight, which at the end of the day, will be vindicated.

Today’s decision will maintain Greece’s financial stability and provide recovery potential. However, as we knew beforehand, the agreement will be difficult to implement. The measures include those that Parliament has voted on. Measures that will inevitably create recessionary trends. However, I am hopeful that the growth package of 35 billion euro that we achieved, debt restructuring, as well as securing funding for the next three years will create market confidence, so that investors realize that fears of a Grexit are a thing of the past—thereby fueling investment, which will offset any recessionary trends.

I believe that a large majority of the Greek people will support the effort to return to growth; they acknowledge that we fought for a just cause, we fought until the end, we have been negotiating through the night, and no matter what the burdens will be, they will be allocated – we guarantee this – with social justice. And it will not be the case that those who have shouldered the burden during the last years will be stuck footing the bill once more. This time, those who avoided paying—many of whom were protected by the previous governments–will pay now, they, too, will shoulder the burden.

Finally, I want to make this commitment: Now, we need to fight just as hard as we fought to achieve the best outcome abroad-in Europe, to rid vested interests in the country. Greece needs radical reforms in favor of social forces, and against the oligarchy that have led to the country’s current state. And this commitment to this new effort begins tomorrow.

there are so many things I am at a loss for words over; tsipras going against a referendum vote, IMF calling for resignation, EU admitting a country can leave the euro, the lack of anger from the greeks etc

what needs to be done to get these people to say no and mean it?

this ranks up there with UKIP getting 4m votes and 1 seat in the house when SNP got 1.5m votes and a shitload of seats in parliament.

He will sleep very well.  He accomplished much for those he serves, it is just not the greeks that he serves.  He has always been the agent of the EU/bankers/elite.

He has served up Greece to foreign forces.  That was always his job, intent and purpose.  When he needed to he was so obvious as to ignore and go against the vote (a vote he called for) of the greek people.

Rebel my rear.  You expect him to feel bad, even now he is selling himself and the bull to the greeks.  He tells them it's the best thing for them and will lead them out of the toilet.  He and Yanis have flushed the Greek people.

So essentially, a bankrupt country that is drowning in debt with ever declining revenues, has been given yet another loan to "fix" their insurmountable debt problems. You really couldn't make this stuff up.

He talked a good game at least.  It does make one wonder if any elected official in the world today (aside from perhaps Uruguay) can possibly represent the people over the central bankers.

Some on ZH commented that the Greeks would reach a deal and that it was the Greek way to haggle and that's exactly what Tsipras did.  Also there were many in Germany and the EU who made it sound lke a deal was not reachable.

I would love to see the trade accounts of those same people.  I wonder how many of these pundits got richer from convincing the people that the opposite was going to happen (Grexit).

What a freakin' soap opera.  Greece is the country who cried wolf (Grexit)... and in the end they totally caved.

Way to go Tsipras.  Way.... to... go...

Greece had a chance to do this the easy way... now let's see what happens when the anger of the Greek people spills out into the streets.  UN peacekeepers in the near future?  Probabaly.

zerohedge, you first pumped Mr. Tsipras and them dumped him gladly. I know you have not put your own opinion in this verbatim  news release. I see only one signal here that Mr. Tsipras gave: It is not sufficient to unite only in vote. The need is to be united indeed. If people are all too eager to line up at ATMs then that is one of the signs that the nation is ready to deliver on their vote. There is no need to be harsh on anyone. The need is to understand that almost all nations will cave to pressure like that.

As many have been pointing out,

FROM THE START,

Tsipras always promoted the fantasy

that it would be "reasonable' and "honest"

for Greece to continue on with the EU, the TROIKA banksters, and NATO.

He always contended that what was best for Greece was

to remain in the EU despite pending EU agreements for TISA/T-TIP Obamatrade,

to make an indenture and privatization bargain with the TROIKA, and

to participate in NATO belligerence from the M.E. to Ukraine.

He never argued for anything different because he never wanted anything different.

His endorsement of such false premises has led to the predictable outcome.

Here is the best way for the Greek people to reject further bailouts (the details have yet to be released) and reclaim their soverinty over central bankers.

1) Stop paying taxes.  The government cannot continue if they cannot collect money from the people.
2) Take ALL OF YOUR MONEY out of the bank.  The banks cannot continue if they cannot use your deposits to maintain the fractional reserve lending ponzi scheme.
3) Get as much as you can locally via small business. Do not shop at large multi-national places as this only feeds the beast.
4) Stop working.  Have the nation go on strike.  The government cannot continue if the people stop feeding the machine.

Here's something that the banksters don't want you to know.  The power has ALWAYS resided with the people... if they UNITE and make their COLLECTIVE voices heard as ONE.  Now is the time to say enough to this unsustainable global debt bubble.  We are enslaving the people and future generations by refusing to say NO MORE.  The global banking cartel must be broken up and the criminals must be held accountable.  If not, it will get a lot worse for the working class and we will see more social unrest and our collective rights reduced to a pure Orwellian society where you can't take a crap without someone watching you.

Sad times we live in.

What a coward, and disgusting.

If this is not an alarm bell to freedom loving people everywhere then I don't know what is.

I was going to say the exact same thing.

BTW...I just watched Terminator again yesterday while working actually...and to Jack burton on here, I rewatched Big Trouble in Little China the day before.  Hotter than hell here right now...hunting mushrooms in the morning before BTLC and mowed in the morning before Terminator, but you can't be in heat indexes of 102-106 long.

Those are some great characters.  In retrospect, the 80s produced some classics.

Tsipras ... what a fucking loser.  Even Greeks aren't stupid enough to buy the line of bullshit in that statement.

Anyone else catch this line? ...
. . . "the collapse of the financial system - this was planned to the last detail – having
. . . recently been designed to perfection, and in the process of being implemented."

Of that I no no doubt, whatsoever.

Tsipras is the trojan horse. He works for the international black hand of Europe.

There simply is no Sovereignty for any entity that borrows that amount of money.

No Alexis...the way to gain national soveriegnty is to take it back and you had the chance.  It doesn't get easier the longer you are without it or the more indebt you get to those who are claiming it for their own now.  Few Greeks who can critically think (which are usually the most motivated as well) are going to buy this line of BS.  What a seriously silly statement you put together here...I doubt you could have included anymore contradictions if you had tried.

Now nothing says the Greek people have to go along.  I know this story has already dragged on and on, but I just don't think it's over with quite yet.

Should have sold stuff when first had trouble, before the subsequent damage to economy and books was done, and avoided all the interest.

Would be in better shape today.

But moral courage and prudence are to government as garlic to a vampire.

Start with making no more debts. It was the Greeks decision to live beyond their means. So bear the costs -otherwise you deserver what you got.

the Greeks "decided"?

Did you miss the articles how the TBTF banksters & Goldman Sachs KNEW the loans could not be repaid?

Did you miss the article how they then transferred most of their debt exposure to the public sector?

Are you aware that the banksters can bribe and dupe government officials?

Aren't you wrongly blaming the marks in a confidence racket ?

The responsibility for committing the crime lies with the fraudulent con men and their shills. They have deceptively taken advantage of the gullibility, trust, ignorance, and vulnerability of others.

The observation that we get a limited choice of crime bosses is a pointless and misdirected blaming. Vetted and subsidized sociopaths become liar politicians, thanks to legalized racketeering, secretive government, even more secretive corporations, and a servile mass media which combine to insure that the majority of voters remain ignorant about issues, or ignored when informed.

Debts need two sides. One to give the credit one to get it. The Greeks did get credits, way too many and way to cheap and so markets do not have spoken, that was alone a decisoin of the ECB to manipulat the intereste rate. If you do not get that right, you can not come to the proper conclusions.

Is it not possible to you to see that Greece problem is way to much polticis and too less econimics? Way to high expenditures in comparison to their income?

I really just an suggest to all Greeks to never ever pay any tax again. I just can suggest to send all the politicians and bureaucrats on some of the islands. Don't ever return to this island, let them live the "happy" live of moochers. Ob this islands they may hopefully no one who earns an honest living, he will get kiiled by Tsipras and it's gang in no time after that they will starve to death - and they deserve that.

And you should take you lessons with you. There's too much debt. And it's breaking everyone back and neck - sooner or later. No it's Greece which is broken, do you really believe the USA will get away with their way of live without any harm? If anyone believes that you are even more stupd as the Greeks and Germans.

We are in much worse shape than Greece, but we cover it up because the dollar is still accepted as the global reserve currency.  When we go, we will take half the world with us.
