Tyler Durden's picture

Greece is "fixed" - so no need for safe havens, alternative currencies, or any hedges...

Bunds...

Bullion...

and Bitcoin...

I expect they might/could push it down further, but I don't care - still buying these slamsdowns.

The question is, was anything solved by the bailout? If not then this sounds like a buying opportunity.

When Greece is in panic mode PMs don't move.  When Greece is "fixed" (as in castrated) PMs crash.  OK got it.  It's so logical.

How is it that the S&P falls 13 points and its "insanely" oversold. But when it skyrockets 70 points higher it's "moderately" over bought and still has some room to run. Wtf. I've heard that was the "bottom" and now we are cleared for new all time highs at least 100 times this week. 2% is a massive correction?

Bitcoin consistently rebounds. Karl Dettinger once tweeted "Bitcoin is going to zero!" and to me, that carries about the same zinger value as the assurances that Dear Leader gave regarding his love child, ObamaCare.

I'm still ahead from my early-month purchase, but even those later to the dance than me should do well if they don't have weak hands. I'm losing no sleep over it, and best yet. Bitcoin doesn't require my Social Insecurity Number, nor does it pay any interest!

p.s., I've stated on these forums that I'm into both PM's and BTC. Both are unloved by the masses now. Both will have people running to them in due course.

BTC is just returning to the price that it should have been at before the unreasonable spike that occurred last week because of the Grexit scare. It looks like Bitcoin price is being manipulated by speculators just like stocks are, which is a good sign to me. It means that big investors know that it exists. It's just the beginning for Bitcoin.

No one said ultimately being proven correct would be easy. This is the capitulation phase of PMs when the endless pounding causes weak hands to tremble. Been there done that....not this time.

Those selling precious metals to us are doing so largely due to economic circumstances.  They are selling out of duress as they require funds to cover living expenses.  The real economy is not all unicorns and rainbows.

We don't get many sellers doing so as capitulation.

The only panic we see is that from buyers on large price declines anxious to lock in lower prices.

Looks like BTC is back up.  Unlike Bullion or Bunds.  Only one currency is going to be used year zero, if you don't have any.  You aren't coming.  A single satoshi is worth more than the gold or bunds going forward.  Right now leaders of the pack for year zero are Nordic Nations, First Nations, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Argentina, Mexico, China, Japan and Russia.  And of course the Celts and cousins, the keepers of the keys.  It's much easier arranging retrieval of people that have an IP address to a location.

\\The rest can burn, they've got until the Sept 28th as the deadline.  One minute after, let her rip and "wash whites separately".

Nothing to see here.

If you only look at the Gold/USD correlation this may be true.

However looking at the Gold/EUR correlation, Gold has been moving pretty much sideways in June / July within a 20 EUR band.

see http://www.finanzen.net/rohstoffe/goldpreis/euro

It sort of seems overlooked that Gold , as much as it is manipulated one way or the other, still acts as sort of an independent currency.

Other than that: yes- PM are a pretty ugly shitshow... until they aren't.

Given the prospect of some more carnage in the Eurozone based on the utter incompetence of all parties involved (they seem to have forgotten how to operate a pockect calculator for the most basic operations) we shall see how this plays out on the long run.

my few cents...

Bad advice. Two weeks ago I went "old school" and bought some gold for myself as a "safe haven." Instinct told me to immediately sell it back as soon as it was delivered, because I've been burned by gold and silver before and I knew that in the current environment of DEFLATION the prices of PMs would plummet. I was right to trust my instincts. Look at the price of gold today compared to it's price two weeks ago.

I took that same money and put it into Bitcoin, and while Bitcoin price has dropped over $40 in the last week, it is still way above it's low for the year. Bitcoin outperforms PMs.

The US Dollar will be king for the short term now the the Euro is contaminated. Don't expect gold or silver to go up anytime soon. I'm not touching gold until it is below $1000 an ounce.

The rise of Netflix is bigger news than the global debt crisis and what is happening in the global markets right now. And at a P/E ratio of 208 I think people are about to lose a lot of their money. The market is way overpriced. A crash or major correction is imminent and they are just roping in the suckers at this point.

So stay on the sidelines with your money until the opportunity is right. Patience is very important. Patience and realistic optomism.
