Friday Humor: The "Risk Profile" Of The Russell 1000 ETF
On Thursday, Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing CEO Charles Li said China’s stock market was the "safest in the world."
In light of recent events - specifically, the harrowing margin unwind that vaporized trillions in market value in just 15 trading days and prompted mainstream media networks to introduce terrifying "countdown to China open" segments - it’s easy to see why some folks might disagree.
One person who would probably contend that US markets are far less risky than Chinese equity casinos is BlackRock chief Larry Fink who, as we saw on Thursday, doesn’t think much of the notion that the proliferation of esoteric fixed income ETFs is endangering the entire financial system.
Speaking of BlackRock and safe investments, if you really want a refuge from today’s turbulent financial markets, the firm recommends the iShares Russell 1000 Growth ETF which, on the completely meaningless sliding risk scale which starts at neon green (100% safe) and dead ends at Caribbean blue (risky as hell), comes in at a comforting greenish-teal.
The visual is below, along with a bit about BlackRock's methodology. We'll leave it to you to assess the level of risk based on your own multi-hued sliding risk scale:

Greece has been living high on other peoples money for a long time. Now, realizing they may never get paid back other people have decided to perhaps not give Greece more money without collateral. Some how that makes other people the bad guys. Only in a collectivist utopia would this be true.
What, you mean unlike Germany which has benefited HUGELY from low interest rates and a low currency like the Euro, enabling it to export massive amount at competitive prices - it would never have happened with a strong currency like the Deutsche Mark.
Idiot.

Your socialist greed and envy are showing DavidC.
It is difficult to track Greece’s expenditures with precision, but multiple analysts say roughly 90 percent of the nation’s bailout cash has been eaten up by financial institutions...

When you can't print money like we do here in the USofA you should really try to live within your means so you do not become entangled with banks. If the Greeks were not trying to spend more than they make the banks would not be getting 90% of the bailout cash. Mother nature will reassert herself here in the USofA when she is good and ready and we will all suffer accordingly.

Obviously the Internet has introduced the age of enlightenment which has finally revealed the truth of our history...and it ain't pretty.
Don't even think about going head-to-head with the CoL (Cult of Lincoln). On second thought -- carry on...
There should be a one in front of that 8.86% standard deviation right?
If LIFE is getting you down......just GIVE A WHISTLE !!!!!

The Russell 2000, lol And some dumbass on this board was calling ME a muppet yesterday. lol Yea, Im a Muppet. Im that grouchy dude that lives in the trash can. And because I live in a trash can ,I don't like paper, I don't have any piece of paper at the moment other than a few moldy old Ford bonds that actually pay pretty good. That same dude will spend the rest of his life trying to get what I have piled up in just my front yard. (its about 1700 yards to the front porch) And, if I catch you poking around in the back yard, I won't even ask you any questions. Ill just get out of the truck and let you dust your ass off.
So get your little limp wristed ass back to your cubicle and close the curtain you little worm, you have'nt reached your trading quota yet. And since you told me to get my shine box, Ill let you lick some fresh cowshit off my Tony Lamas if Im feeling nice.

Negative numbers don't exist. /s
It is like ignoring all the debt ... treating debt as assets that will always be paid off ... kicking the can.
Risk assessments based on a rigged market mean nothing. Case in point is the smooth upward graph line of the markets last 5-6 year 'gains.' Standard deviation and risk profiles look low. Though it increasingly difficult I check to see how an index, and ETF, or fund performed during the 2008-9 debacle. Doing this, if its possibe, you will find just how 'debacle resistant' your investments are.
Now that stawks have been back stopped by the central planners, they're probably not too far off.
No mention of the weighting of the equities constituting the ETF?
No column showing the P/E aggregate negative ratios of the equities segregated from the aggregate P/E ratio column? IF the negative P/E ratio stocks are being omitted from the aggregate P/E ratio isn't this a form of fraud, or does merely disclosing that the aggregate P/E ratios are not in fact aggregated side-step the issue legally?
At a beta ratio of 1.02 to the S&P500 what are you really paying for beyond a momo pack sans any dividend coupon? -Which makes me wonder if the desk running the ETF are actually holding the underlying momo and are just skimming any dividends along with collecting their 'management fees'...
"IF the negative P/E ratio stocks are being omitted from the aggregate P/E ratio isn't this a form of fraud, or does merely disclosing that the aggregate P/E ratios are not in fact aggregated side-step the issue legally?"
YES and YES. Its all bullshit. So no mark to market. ALL NON GAPP, and just for good measure we won't count the major majority of stocks that have no earnings.
Fraud was legalized back in 2009. I can't even find GAAP estimates on my brokerage website. Everything is Pro Forma. Explanation of earnings are as followed.
Pro Forma earnings are Non-GAAP (un-official) earnings issued by the company based on hypothetical amounts to provide a view, by the company itself, of the company's profits if selected nonrecurring items were excluded.
That about sums up our financial world all fraud all the time.
