Germany Approves Third Greek Bailout By Wide Margin Despite Surge In "Nein" Votes

Tyler Durden's picture

Following Wednesday's Greek vote approving the draconian terms of the Third Greek bailout, the next biggest hurdle for the implementation of another round of Greek aid was Germany's parliamentary vote whether to endorse the terms cobbled together over last weekend. Moments ago it did just that in a vote which had been widely expected to pass without complications, when 439 members of the lower house of parliament voted in favor Berlin to starting negotiations on a third bailout program for Greece, 119 voted against and 40 abstained. A total of 598 votes were cast.

The passage was assured when Chancellor Angela Merkel essentially gave German MPs an ultimatum, and called on German lawmakers on Friday to back negotiations for a third Greek bailout or face chaos, saying suggestions Athens might temporarily leave the euro wouldn't work.

Schaeuble himself has suggested that Greece might be better off taking a "time-out" from the euro zone to sort out its daunting economic problems, although this morning he too said the vote must pass and Greece has a chance of success with the latest bailout package.

Nonetheless, the size of the 'No' vote was far larger than when German lawmakers voted on the extension of a second bailout package in February. On that occasion, 32 lawmakers voted 'No.'

This unlocks the process on finalizing what the Third Greek bailout will look like and grants passage of the €7 billion Greek bridge loan, the bulk of whose proceeds will be used to repay the ECB and the IMF.

How much time does this buy the internet-driven world? All these things are just buying time and like QE, it's buying less and less every day.

From the article: "when 439 members of the lower house of parliament voted in favor Berlin to starting negotiations on a third bailout program for Greece, 119 voted against and 40 abstained. A total of 598 votes were cast."

There's your problem right there. A little country like Germany has too many politicians. What a corrupt system! The US (no bastion of political purity) has less in the House of Representatives and the Senate than little, tiny, baby Germany which has a population of approx. 83 million -- less than one-third of 'Murika.

Actually, that is probably a more optimal system.  Fewer politicians means more concentrated power and fewer people that need to be bribed.  Check this out:

The Bundestag has voted in favour of starting negotiations with Greece over a third bailout.

Ok, if you read this carefully all they did is vote on 'starting negotiations' with Greece.  How about that can kick?  We can expect more discussions, last minute deadlines, and more can kicking until Christmas, when we all sit down at home to take an hour out of our busy schedules to watch the "Katlyn Jenner AssStar Christmas Special" brought to you by your Southern Ford Dealers.

The Latvian parliament has also reportedly given the green light to begin negotiations on a third Greek bailout.

Many German economists published editorials this week advocating raising the "Solidarity Tax" (a tax used to pay for re-unification, and which was never eliminated after re-unification) to 8-9% to pay for Germany's contribution to the 3rd bailout.    And yet none of this has enraged the German populace.

Because the German populace is completely brainwashed re; anything to do with the European Union.   Its evident everywhere you go -- Euro Eyes, Euro Clean, Euro Reifen, Euro Cars, Euro Anzüge, I challenge you to go to Google Maps, pick any Germany city, and search for the word "Euro" and hit enter.  Your mouth will fall to the floor.

In every major German city, you are having "Europaviertel" being built, in Stuttgart, its near the Haubtbahnhof, in Frankfurt its near the financial district, in Berlin, its North of the Haubtbahnhof, Munich, near the Haubtbahnhof, etc., etc.,

You cannot have a government building here without an EU flag on it.

Shoot, in every single "European" Country there is an anti-EU party consisting of 20%+ of the vote.  Germany? Less than 5%.

A toxic mix of war-guilt, political correctness & brainwashing has been executed here to such an extent -- I see it existing for decades to come.  However, Germany has a long & proud history of having poverty screw its head back on correctly.

I think Germany is one of the few countries in the world who will benefit greatly, in the long run, from the coming collapse.

Off the topic, but does anyone know where Schäuble's feces go when he poops himself in his wheelchair?  Does he have colostomy bag, or does he wear adult diapers, or is there a hole in the seat where it just goes down into a receptacle?

For those people who have more than a few brain cells trying to remember how much drama each time Greece getting a bailout. The condition is getting tougher and tougher, people getting angrier and pissed off, the negotiation process getting longer. I have absolutly no doubt next time will be much worst because NOTHING HAS BEEN SOLVED.

Politicians are now totally disconnected from the people making wagers on tax payers funds that they know is already lost. Votes or accounting no longer mean anything. Bankers rule and the ensuing chaos inevitably shall follow.
