An European Parliament with power would evoke an impressions to the conditions in the Yugoslav Parliament shortly before the outbreak of the Balkan war: An gathering of national clans, Malta and Cyprus with the same power like Germany (look Europes most important (ineligible...) Parliament: The ECB), watching how to form alliances to get the neighbours money. Without any sense of togetherness - logical: Nobody is understanding the language of each other (...that's more than just pure translation...), but everyone knows about the mental differences and how to revive prejudices "vindicated in centuries" when needed - look Greece and Germany.
Talking to the people most of them like to maintain (...or more concrete "return" to) democratic structures within their countries. Almost all "projects" similar to the so-called "European vision" went from bad to worse like Ex-Yugoslavia, the former Sovietunion and even within Irland or Spain showing that you can't overcome thousends of years of traditions, development, moving stones.
Those, who keep up the idea of the "United States of Europe" don't mean "give up power" but merely mean "money", access to EU-coffers, communitization of debts (...which from the perspective of the elites (in Germany mostly in export-business) have the effect of subsidies at costs of their - doesn't matter - own people...), corruption etc.... That "benefits" to some elites are the reason why we have antidemocratic structures within the EU-cartel up to the European Comission, European Court of Justice, ECB, ESM etc.... meanwhile the European Parliament remain a theater of functionless extras and puppets without any power. The issue of the EU-parallel government is to bypass the will of the people and - whenever bills or new regulations are unlikely to pass the national parliaments without harming the local politicans or reducing their chances of re-election - this decisions are transfered to Brussels. According to estimates of the German Federal President (part of this system itself) almost 80 percents of laws and regulations in Germany are bypassed this way.
This way our political leaders are allowed to shrug their shoulders blamelessly when people doesn't agree with unpopular decisions.
Fact is: I don't vote for a mayor to coopt next day the state president in my name: Subsidiarity upside down. But this is what is going on in Europe. Discarded politicians are disposed to well-paid jobs in Brussels - if they are characterizised by a finer susceptibility of corruption or similar complaisance to lobbyists they seem to be qualified for better jobs within the puppets-apparatus called "EU" with the consequence that they suddenly appear (in record time) e. g. as department chiefs in the European Commission ("the untouchables") more powerful then ever. So it happend for example to the former prime-minister of Baden-Württemberg/Germany - also well-known nuclear- and shale-gas-lobbyist Günther Öttinger who was kicked out from his voters due to several suspicious facts ranging from collaboration with the nuclear-industry up to contacts to the Italian (money laundering-)Mafia. Just a couple of weeks later and without any cooling-off-period he suddenly holded the post as (never-elected) Europes Commissioner for "Digital Economy and Society" after five years in the post of the energy commissioner. To German people nowadays he remain an ineligible candidate - but what does a Sicilian farmer know about German politics let alone politicians/scandals or the other way round (e. g. Goldman Sachs Draghi...)? Google Translator to "read" (but not to understand...) the local press? It's not be worth, because it isn't possible to vote him out anyway...
Your final words, "...it isn't possible to vote him out anyway" struck me as the core of our issues here in America. We are facing a mess as an economic system; manufacturing is nearly non-existent, so we have masses of the Uneducated, capable of only mass production, walking around drunk, stoned or whacked. We have a Capitalist Structure which depends MOSTLY upon NON-LABEL readers who buy this shit, made of plastic/additives/sales/high sugar content, so those out of work are also OBESE. We have an education system reverted from a public model and now a CAPITALIST MODEL; so, the costs of being educated are ramping and there are no jobs for those kids anyway. We a an ELITIST political structure, essentially oligarchic, which "presents itself" as elected, but we all know what that answer is: we are not fucking sure of anything any longer, but the choice is between PIECES OF SHIT and TURD PILES. I CANNOT by definition VOTE for any of them because by definition, a person who seeks office is there for a money grab, not representation as we like to think of this mess we call Congress. In the end, America is doomed.

This tells a lot about the negotiations....and explains why Mrs. Merkel did already "thank" Mr. Schäuble "for his achievements in the past" after yesterdays debate in the German Bundestag about the opening of new negotiations with Greek in terms of a new "survival package". Schäuble could not refrain from explaining the necessity of a Grexit - better for the Greeks, better for the rest of Europe.
As the Euro was a politically inspired project : to challenge USD hegemony, protect the EU financially, bring France and Germany closer in economic and political terms, it stayed in that limbo once the Delors federal proposal got shot down; aka giving the Maastricht monetary union a fiscal and economic cohesion further down the road.

If those in power would risk war to keep power then let it be so. Let's get this over with. The people vs. the criminals. My guess is that most of the military will go to the side of the people. This, in and of itslef, would be devastating to the criminals in power.
Their failed dreams should end with all their heads being cut off. That's what they have to look forward to.
Many of us would prefer to avoid conflict, especially violent conflict, at all costs. However, at times we may not be presented with a choice. There is always the potential mentioned in this post for a violent conflict breaking out into civil war. Ironically termed since war is never civil but will always be deadly and destructive. And many countries right now continue to experience this every day.
The destructive financial situation is creating new opportunities for increasingly violent conflict each day. And there are those that seek to prevent this from happening. The current planned track could possibly eventually lead to a mutually assured self-destruction. Those that seek to complete the path for a new paradigm of truth and freedom for everyone will need to stand up, unite soon and come together in order to prevail. Skirmishes of many types, even large battles, may occur right in front of many of us and we aren't even aware of them. There is always something happening but not everyone sees it.
Please join me is remembering both the seen, the unseen, those above and those below that have made the ultimate sacrifice before us to prevent this escalation. Honor them with your own respective cultural or spiritual means of thanks and remembrance.
I'm going to take some time outdoors this afternoon in the Sun and reflect on those that have gone before us. Experiencing the Sun above and the Earth below seems the most appropriate place to pay my respects to all the seen and unseen everywhere that have made and continue to make their contribution. It also seems the most fitting place to revere all those that have made their selfless sacrifices in the hopes of building a brighter future. They are truly inspiring.
Most Greeks (...I'm convinced....) know within themselves theirown economic contradictions - that's why things turned know into an broad attitude of willingsness to preserve the Euro as national currency. Greeks know that by their own economic and currency management the money would fastly melt down at any rate.
No to the apportionment of blame and yes to shared responsibility in Europe will be the only way to get out of this downward trend. Greece will never find again bank(st)ers giving them credit by (on balance) highly negativ interest rates (including inevitable new haircuts etc...). Tsirpas changed his opinion because during the "very very very very last hard negotiations" he was told to believe in a solution within the "fiscal integretion process" (...wich means communitizations of all debts in Europa and a commun budget) - with other words: The presented and "enforced" modalities of redemption are finally a big sten grenade for German taxpayers. Greeks shouldn't care too much about it: Remember the camera footage und sound recording during a break of an Eurogroup summit meeting in February 2012 when Schäuble on a smalltalk-request of his Portugues counterpart promised on the way a new bailout for Portugal (...which was not in the focus of the summit...) - the only problem would be how to communicate it to the German voters... Thats politics....
