Nasdaq Opens With Biggest Gap Down Since January, Dip-Buying Panic Ensues

Tyler Durden's picture

With ugliness in AAPL and MSFT, Nasdaq has gapped almost 2% lower at the open - its biggest drop since January... So what else would one expect but an algo-driven buying panic at the cash open...

Biggest gap down since January...

Means BTFD in size...

So we have disappointing earnings, and - the Dow sheds... 0.11%? And this after several large moves up? Are you fucking kidding me?

And Marketwatch leads with the headline "Golden opportunity to buy Apple stock"?

Fuck me, the disbelief, the hopium, the distortion, fraud, and collusion in this market is just beyond believable.

Frankly, the Fed should just close the markets and telegraph the price of each individual stock once per day, and the market fundamentally wouldn't be any less "free" than they are now.

A proper set of audits will show that the Fed owns half the eminis and related futures and the Treasury owns 3 full vaults of gold and 19 empty ones.

In this "mark to fantasy" world who the fuck knows what the real value of any of this paper/digital bullshit really is?

(my guess is zero)

well, in a real world you'd expect there to be SOME reversion to mean - and given how skewed pricing is, i would be very surprised if we didn't overshoot to the downside.

what the hell is "efficient markets" anyway, when you at the pokertable have someone with infinite buy-ins?

Exactly.  Again there are no fucking "markets".   Theft of apples, pears, and pecans from some of my orchards is through the roof again.  Time to beat the fucking crap out of people again.  Calling the cops does nothing.

Put up some wireless cameras (battery powered), get the bastards on video, call the cops and show them the video while recording thier response (in secret and don't show thier faces).  Then post it on Youtube and make it a political nightmare for the elected public servents (not officals) that are supposed to be incharge.  The best thing you could wish for is a admission that the cops are told not to do anything about it from themselves.

Good observation. I learned never to trade before 11:30am; the day traders are trading early and often causing further distortion.  The institutional traders trade during the last 30 minutes and overnight.

I have noted that the plunge-protection team is struggling just to maintain current levels and the truth, as shown by poor revenues and earnings (dispite tricky accounting) cannot be upheld.  Between September 11 and October 5th; I fully expect theses markets will be "cleansed" and this time will be different.  Then again; we do not want to underestimetae the enemy of mens souls

Trading during calm periods (11:30am-2pm) was strongly suggested by William O'Neil in "How to Make Money in Stocks" which I read about 15 years ago.

OK, red pill, blue pill, I took them both recently.

The fraud of the markets will continue until TPTB decide to shut them down, or, maybe "Mr. Market's" invisible hand will eventually take control again, though that's a very doubtful outcome, near-term.

After watching stocks gone wild for six years, I've decided that enough is enough. Still have my silver, lots of inventory and a decent online business, plus many cash business potentialities.

So... I began playing stocks to the upside via options on Monday. Naturally, I got my hat handed to me on Tuesday, but, after what we've seen repeatedly, stocks will continue to go up, unless there's like a nuclear war, at which point, I guess we should buy defense contractor stocks.

Any gains will be plowed equally into PMs and more stocks. I have long-dated options, so daily fluctuations aren't very serious right now, but I do not want to take losses for taking the red pill.

In other words, I'm BTFD and still an Austrian junior economist.

I can hear the theme music to "Green Acres" playing in the background.

Is it possible to play both sides against the middle. I'm about to test it out.

Good luck to all, but, a note of refernece, don't avoid the obvious.

Let's just rewrite the FASB so we can say whatever we want to the idiot public.

Hey, Ban KKiller, thanks for nothing. I tried to reach out to you some time ago and got crickets.

I was in a foreclosure action, countersued for fraud, finally got out with a cash settlement, bank got the house.

I'm free, and freedom sings of reality (the Who, ~1965), so thanks for nothing.

Someday, somebody should say ZHers should have stuck together and stuck up for one another, but they didn't, and ain't it a shame? Now they're all wearing shackles in FEMA camps. At such a time, I will be compelled to piss on your cot.
