'Trump'ing Political Success Through An Irate Silent Majority

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Ben Tanosborn,

Four years ago Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga rebirthed the musical-cicada of the 1937 song, “The Lady Is a Tramp”... which makes me think that maybe we could be facing in 2016 a reenactment of the 1968 presidential election, this time Donald Trump taking the role of George Wallace; a political musical that could appropriately be given the lyrical title, “The Politician Is a Trump.”

Alabama’s Gov. Wallace, unable to represent the Democratic Party in the presidential election, created back then his own party: The American Independent Party; a party that by embracing Wallace’s views on segregation gave Richard Nixon ease-of-entry to the White House.  Donald Trump, with his equally verboten stand on immigration as Geo. Wallace was on segregation, is not likely to receive the seal of approval from the old guard in the Republican Party, which brings the possibility that Mr. Trump, in boastful arrogance, might decide to invest a few of his many millions in a third party candidacy which could add a new chapter to his book, “The Art of the Deal,” if elected; or create fresh material for his television pseudo-business repertoire, if turned down by the electorate.

Richard Nixon made hay of the term “Silent majority” back in November 1969 to defend his Vietnam War policy.  It has since been used by American politicians to legitimize and expand the nature of a non-descript huge following they claim as their own, quite often asserting the existence of magnified populism and an implied democracy.  Nixon’s baton seems to have been now passed to Donald Trump, as he submits his candidacy for the highest political office in the land, and grabs the microphone to broadcast his unfiltered stand on immigration.  A message that questionably-qualified experts in the media are quick to devour, then defecate, on a public more receptive to shallow issues dealing with celebrities than anything of social significance or depth.

In truth, there is no silent majority in the United States of America, and there has never existed one other than that represented by the number of converted-to-dust ancestors.  A collection of vocal minorities, yes; but most definitely not a political silent majority! [Oftentimes, however, low voter turnout may confuse us to the possible existence of a silent politically-indifferent majority; a topic worthy of study by our social scientists.]

There are, nonetheless, silent substantial minorities bordering the majority rim on some specific critical issues that affect the body politic; their standing on those issues not adopted or represented by either of the two ruling parties openly because of political “incorrectness” or unsavory bigotry which politicians prefer to overlook or deny.  These days, the unwillingness, or incapacity, of the government to secure the nation’s borders from waves of economic invaders, negatively tagged as illegals by some, and positively by others as undocumented immigrants, is an issue not being properly, or directly, addressed politically by America’s Tweedledee and Tweedledum parties.

It should come as no surprise when a politician, or would-be politician, unceremoniously breaks ranks with the party to claim leadership on a specific issue that overshadows the rest, and immigration seems to be one in our current political cycle, that such individual is going for broke, either because of his moral standing on such issue, or because he is powerful enough, usually through wealth, where personal risk is minimal or nonexistent.  Enter billionaire Donald Trump.  He may appear as a clown to the more sedate segment of the US population, but he’s nobody’s fool and can also break the straightjacket of an imposed political correctness simply because his wealth and power permit it.

For all the polls taken on how Americans feel about almost any issue under the sun, a number of topics or issues seem out-of-bounds for pollsters; and how Americans in their diversity feel about immigration is one of them, remaining closeted so as not to create additional problems for an already fragmented society.  Trump, just like many others, senses that the majority of rank-and-file Republicans resent the do-nothing approach to resolve the ever-increasing number of illegal, or undocumented, residents, possibly exceeding 7 percent of the nation’s population.  And that the non-Latino rank-and-file Democrats probably hold a similar majority.

Piling on by the dozen-and-a-half declared Republican candidates against outspoken Trump who’s now leading the pack might not be the best strategy for keeping the GOP whole.  And a rebuke by the Bobbsey Twins, war hawk senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain, will only fuel the existing party dissension.

Much of Europe is facing the socio-economic-political reality of a Sub-Saharan economic invasion, just like the US is facing in its border with Mexico.  Politicians, whether in the EU or the US, must confront and resolve the problems created by such reality; and must do so at their career-peril… or a Trump-brand politician will replace them.

Trump is a funny character....but he is the only one with the balls to call our hypersensitive president on his wholesale sell out of average Americans....so yes...he may well have a silent majority.

It's the "I hate politicians so much I'm gonna elect a giant clown" vote.

And it's fully funded and commands plenty of free airtime.

It seems that it takes a billionaire egomaniac to break the establishments grip on power.

It will be interesting to see what Trumps campaign war chest looks like. I assume he doesn't plan to burn through his net worth in his quest for POTUS.

But Trump is a household name AROUND THE WORLD. He is a big draw for TV stations and he will enjoy more free press than any other candidate.

Exactly, Trump is a big balled American and that's what I like. Only problem is he let his daughter marry that jew con man Jared Kershner.

If i were Trump and the daughter brought Kershner home I would have immediately invited him for a trip on the yacht, had a strongman steal his cell phone before he had a chance to inform his tribe and killed that fuck about 30 nautical miles out. Scattering his remains about so some fish would get poisoned.

Then why does Fox continue to run anti-Hillary stories day and night?  They know with the endorsements and $$$ she has built up already that she is essentially unbeatable.  No Democratic since WW2 has had this kind of buildup or early support.

Doesn't matter that Sanders is drawing somewhat notable crowds or that O'Malley would start to get some traction if he had any public coveage.  They don't hae the endorsements, $$$, or machine to ding her and she learned from the mistakes she made in '08 in discounting Obama.  Didn't have the same people already lined up behind her though.

i think the others just hate him because he gets away with saying all the things they wish they could say and not only get away with it, but go up in the polls for it.

And lets face it, all those people know Mccain war story is bullshit, and know about his shameful treatment of POW families, and Mccain also knows damn well that we left behind hundreds of people, and he helped cover that up, so fuck him. And half of them probably loathe mccain anyway. And I can imagine most of them, privately, make fun of lyndsay graham all the fucking time, how could they not. He gets to destroy all of them, and since most americans despise those two, he goes up in the polls. Still wouldn't vote for him, but its pretty damn entertaining.

She's had a 'memory problem' since at least the 1990s. There was at least one parody song (with a line going "I can't remember, my mind's in a blender...") and conservative 'entertainers' often pointed out how often she couldn't remember shit when asked about, for instance, HillaryCare, or Vince Foster's Ghost, or other stuff. Maybe Bill will have to go get caught banging some sweet young(er) thing to generate a sympathy vote for her.

Nah he isn't even on the Bush radar yet and Bush hasn't even really acknwoledged him.  Both Walker and Bush are ignoring him but if he becomes a serious candidate through the early primaries the Bush machine will do what they did to McCain in '00 or threatened to do to Perot in '92.

Baby Bush has not ignored Trump.  He took a few jabs at him and Trump hit him back hard and Baby Bush shut up.

And the Bushes certainly achieved a great outcome with Perot in 92.  And the cause of Perot's rise?  Papa Bush had deserted the base for whom he has never had any love.  After his campaign "Read my lips. No new taxes.", torn up once elected.

And he got into office on the glow left by Reagan, not due to any great electoral competence by the Bushes.

Or maybe Trump picked up on all the anti-McCain vibes that one encounters right here on ZH. McCain is a frequent target here, and while Trump commented very poorly on McCain's heroism or lack thereof, I tend to believe that McCain is labeled a hero only because of the bad stuff that happened to him (POW and all) and not because of anything extraordinary he actually did. The term 'hero' has been greatly devalued these last few years, just as so many other words have been. Calling anyone a hero simply because they wore a uniform is like making the term equivalent to a participation reward. I spent four years in the USAF, 60-73, and never once did I consider myself a hero.

That said, I think Trump is more likely to be a Clinton crony than a pawn of Bush, Inc. He could get lots of conservatives all worked up, then get dumped by the GOP and form an independent ticket to draw conservatives away from some RINO nominee or at least get them to stay home. Just what Hillary Clinton would need to get a majority of the votes.

I've always considered the silent majority to be made up of generally conservative types - including blue collar workers, it isn't a class thing - who generally just wanted to live their lives peacefully and be left alone by busybodies. Progressives, by their very nature, seem to think there is nothing more important than to tell everyone else how to act, talk, and even think. Silent majority types are too busy living their own lives to have any desire to live or direct other people's lives. They think they can ignore politics, but fail to recognize that politics won't ignore them.

Trumps destiny number is 31/4, this may shed light on his personality...

31/4

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The number 31 is a fighter and with good reason. It is highly competitive and can irritate the other numbers if this anger is not focused and channeled in a constructive manner. Nothing is handed to it on a silver platter. Everything must be fought for every step of the way. Strength, determination and patience are keywords for this number. It must keep a check on its patience at all times, otherwise this number is highly volatile. Cooperation with others is a key struggle for this number as well, and the sooner it learns to work with others in its own way, the easier things will seem to be — at least for a while.

ANATOMY

+4
31
-2

One glance at the anatomy of this number shows the struggle it goes through. The 3, the creative spirit with a practical mind is focusing on the 1, self initiation and relying upon itself. This is a number that initiates battle wherever it goes to advance in life. This energy is difficult but practically constructive, and it does well in business and it has a practical financial sense. However, the -2 indicates a struggle concerning cooperation with others. At it fights to obtain what it believes it should own, confrontations with others is hardly surprising. But there is another element to this. When the 31 realizes that it is not alone in their struggle to achieve what they desire, they become more cooperative and work easier.

Otherwise, it will have to learn to be diplomatic with those that may get in their way. In the worst case scenario, a 31 can have their tempers explode in the faces of others, irritated for their seemingly constant nagging. Unable to get along with others, it faces a life of struggle, dispute and material hardship. Cooperating with others is the key to succeeding in battle

WHy do they come here in the first place? because they get: free housing, free healthcare, free schools, free food, cash assistance, etc, all for NOTHING. Take that away(which shouldn't even exist for anyone in the first place), and no more of them will come than the jobs market will provide jobs for. The free market at work. Thinking that a wall, fence, moat full of gators, etc will keep everyone out when HUGE economic inticements exist if they make it past the barrier is as foolish as thinking fighting a "war on drugs" is going to rid society of drugs.

Well here's something completely different that no one in the leftwing media circus is commenting on, when the SCOTUS ghey marriage "opinion" came down it took LESS THAN 24hrs for Commander-n-Chief Obama to bathe the Peoples House in rainbow lights.

However, it took FIVE DAYS after the massacre in Chattanooga before Commander-n-Chief Obama decided it was time to lower flags to half staff.

Not-a-fucking-peep.

"[Oftentimes, however, low voter turnout may confuse us to the possible existence of a silent politically-indifferent majority; a topic worthy of study by our social scientists.]"

It's easily explained by the fact that the USA is the land of rigged elections with predetermined outcomes. Voting is meaningless in a land where the rich oligarchy can swing an election to any outcome they want because all ballots are secret, hence there is NO audit trail. Secret ballots have been seized upon by the rich oligarchy to rig every election in my lifetime (59 years).

Fuck the rich oligarchy, the Republicans and the Democrats AND their families. But, they can all safely go into foreign exile IF they leave 99% of their wealth to the American People.

You are absolutely wrong about "there is no silent majority" in the United States. Like Obama you make statements completely devoid of facts. The silent majority marshalled the votes to elect Ronald Reagan after the disastorous Jimmy Carter years. Illegal immigration is a number one priority for our country. We need to marshall the resources to deport anyone here illegally.

Why is it so funny to some, so devastating to some and so entertaining to others when people attempt to save themselves by declaring their heartfelt fears of losing their country? Third World immigration is the most fundamental danger America has ever faced.

The more Trump’s numbers rise (reflecting the views of real people), the funnier and more shameful the establishment and the media see it. Just who do they think they are, disparaging what other people think, while staring right at the numbers?

These media and political types are the lowest, most disgusting humans on the planet.

Why can’t Trump’s current success be interpreted as poll numbers rather than as for establishment Republicans, “instant horror,” and for Democrats, a gift that just keeps on giving, i.e.,  direct access to open borders to displace more of America’s workers and America’s white European culture?

As regards “the old guard in the Republican Party,” there is no paleoconservative element about the Boehner/McConnell Republicrats: they are neocons, the direct  invention of Norman Podhoretz.

This scenario is happening regularly , like this: Southern California Edison recently got rid of between 400 and 500 IT employees and replaced them with a smaller force of lower-paid workers brought in from overseas through the H-1B program…”

For those who believe the Trump phenomenon either to be an embarrassment or a comedy, this letter which appeared today from a ZH blogger, concerning American jobs, is enough to put them where they belong, at the foot of the class:

I guess we can all wring our hands and say woe is me. I just got a rejection email this morning from a PI firm for an insurance investigation position. This was a direct referral from a friend. They thanked me for my "impressive qualifications and experience" (meaning I was over-qualified) but had to go with someone else. I suppose it was someone younger, being that I'm 55+. And the position would only be part-time to start. And my primary skill set is IT (for the past 30+ years). I had a conversation in the process with the VP, Director of Operations, who was an Army airborne vet. I'm a Marine. Being a vet, interviewing with a vet, on top of a personal referral is still not enough these days. Agreed, we are in a depression.

I'm still waiting for results for another interview I had last week in Austin, for an IT position in Austin, from a NY firm opening a new branch. They are going to hire 2 to 3 out of hundreds of applicants. They conducted last week, in 2 days, up to 16 candidates face to face. I was one of the 12 to 16. I'm supposed to hear some news this week. I'm in Houston, where the economy is supposed to be peachy. Not from what I see, and have seen since the summer of 2012, my last layoff from an AT&T subsidiary.

I was watching Greg Hunter (the so-called former CNN alternative media free press) interview Nomi Prins (former Goldman Sachs). She actually got an audience with the FED. Supposedly the FED called her asking for advice. Here is the exchange:

I thoroughly loathe and hate politicians. They are all guilty of receiving bribes, influence peddling, treason, high crimes and misdemeanors.

I retired from the Aerospace Industry. I worked on a number of military aerospace projects, the B-2 Stealth Bomber amongst them. Military officers were prohibited from accepting so much as free can of Coca Cola. They had to pay the prevailing price for refreshments, snacks, lunches and dinners. Yet that piece of shit traitor and senator from Searchlight, Nevada, Harry Reid gained in net worth by at least $10,000,000 while serving in the Senate. Another piece of shit traitor and human garbage is Hillary Clinton whose net worth in 2015 is between $11,330,000 and $52,700,000. Her piece of shit traitor and human garbage husband, Bill Clinton, net worth is recently estimated at $80,000,000. The Clinton's combined net worth is recently estimated at $100,000,000 to $200,000,000.

Politicians can be bribed for pennies on the dollar of benefit. That is, the rich oligarchy can obtain a payoff of $1,000,000 for a bribe of less than $100. By that calculus, how much economic damage have the Clinton's wreaked on the American People? Somewhere between $1,000,000,000,000 to $2,000,000,000,000 is a gross understatement. That's due to the fact that the Clinton's treason transferred classified military technologies to Communist China, North Korea, etc., making the bribery cost-to-benefit ratio even greater than 10,000:1 noted above.

The Clinton's crimes against the American People far exceeds that of the Rosenberg's. The Rosenberg's were convicted of transferring classified nuclear weapons design details to the USSR. They were executed for their crimes. The Clinton's and their fellow travelers deserve the same punishment.

The one that did a good job with Trump three days ago was Rush Limbaugh: And I quote, in part:

It isn't complicated at all.  Here's the setup: The conventional wisdom in circumstances like this goes this way: You have a Republican public figure who says something that constitutes stepping in it.  In this case, it's Trump's supposed comments about McCain, but even those were distorted.  And whatever the perp (always a Republican, never a Democrat) says is something so bad, so beyond the pale that the entire media establishment and the Washington establishment immediately demand that the perp apologize.

And usually the perp does.

The conventional wisdom is, "The perp apologizes, begs forgiveness, says (sobbing), 'That wasn't me! I don't know who that was, but that's not what I really think.  I really didn't mean it,' and they apologize, and they slink away, never to be heard from again."  And the key point... This was not talked about all night and even today on CNN. The key point that was not mentioned that makes all of this come together, as far as I'm concerned, is the element of all of this conventional wisdom is an assumption that the outrage expressed by the media and the Washington establishment echoes national outrage.

So you have the networks, Drive-Bys, the newspapers, all the media people, the Washington establishment, and they're all telling everybody how horrible it was what Trump said. "How over the top! How this is beyond the pale! This is the last straw. He's gotta go. This is not who we are. This is not what our politics ought to be." You've heard it all, and the assumption is that everybody in America feels the same way.  The assumption -- the presumption, in fact -- is that the outrage you see in the media is reflective of a majority of the American people. …

It's too soon to know, folks.  It's too soon.  We don't know yet.  This is the point.  The last day of the ABC/Washington Post poll was the first day of the Trump-McCain contretemps, and the day before Trump was at 30 in this poll.  The next day he fell to 24. He fell six points, and then the poll ended. The poll period ended. So we don't know whether Trump's comments have elicited a similar level of outrage and opposition with the American public as they did with the media and the establishment.

We will find out because Trump is staying in. He's doubling down.  He's in South Carolina.  He's not apologizing, and he can't apologize now even if he had a change of heart and wants to. He's gone too far; he can't.  Even McCain is saying, "I don't want an apology. I don't want one. We just gotta move on. I'm tired of this," and so forth and so on.  So we'll find out.  None of this was offered in support of Trump.  I was simply offering cutting-edge analysis, and I was observing something that I thought was a teachable moment that we don't see much.

. Even McCain is saying, "I don't want an apology. I don't want one. We just gotta move on. I'm tired of this,"

The teachable moment  here is to question why McCain is saying this. I don't think its because he's a magnanimous and cultured gentleman. Its probably more likely that he fears the next things out of Trump's mouth may be the things about his past that he has been so determined to bury. Like the fire on the U.S.S. Forrestal ( ask any surviving crew member if he thinks McCain is a hero), or his squealing like a pig to his North Vietnamese captors.

And Trump will have a shot, riding the coattails of a newly-coin and long-lasting revulsion among the electorate for politics as usual. Otherwise I expect to see either Bush or Clinton in next, probably the former.

Silent?  Majority?

Maybe neither.

Majority or not, there are a LOT of conservatives out there who are damned angry.  They are beyond angry at what Obama is doing.  Livid, and more than a little scared.

But really and truly seriously ticked off at the Rep establishment.  Tea Party candidates won back a Rep majority in the House, and the establishment fought the Tea Party as hard as they fought the Dems.  Conservatives then gave Reps a majority in the Senate too.

And what have they done with those majorities?  Zip.  Zero.  Nada.  Even while Obama runs roughshod over the Constitution on a regular basis.

THAT is what Trump has tapped into, and why he LEADS IN THE POLLS.

Unless other candidates get that, they are not going to get the support of the angry mob that has formed, Trump or no Trump in the race.

They may not be a majority, but it is a very large block of people.  Huge.  No Rep is going to win without them.

South African Dan Roodt, November 9, 2012

The Republican Party is poised to adopt the attitude of South Africa’s liberal opposition party, the Democratic Alliance, which has forsaken its core white support and practices affirmative action in its own ranks. There are three women on its election posters: one white, one colored or mixed-race, and one black, at once expressing the party’s diversity and its disdain for the white male.

Lest we forget, the rank and file of the Republican Party rebelled against Ronald Reagan’s veto and passed sanctions against South Africa on Sept. 29, 1986.

Since that time, the U.S. has consistently pursued an anti-white foreign policy. In Southern Africa it supported black Marxist movements such as the African National Congress (ANC) and the South West African Peoples Organization (SWAPO). In Europe, it has called for a large Muslim state—Turkey—to be included in the European Union. Would the American elite ever adopt a pro-white policy domestically while pursuing the opposite of such a policy externally?

There are three forces that are likely to determine the Republican Party’s position on white interests. The first is the wishes of its own electorate; the second is the corporate sector that funds the party, and the third is the mainstream media. America’s large corporations support affirmative action and diversity, while the media support multiculturalism. The GOP will follow their bidding and betray its voters.

Like the whites of the former Rhodesia, South West Africa, and South Africa, Republicans will embark on a forlorn search for conservative allies “of color” whom non-white voters will reject as traitors. Even if a black woman such as Condoleezza Rice could be fielded as the next Republican presidential candidate, it is doubtful whether many blacks or Hispanics would vote for her.
Patrick Buchanan and others have already chronicled “the death of the West,” but we need to understand the laws of this process, because it follows a pattern of false hopes, interspersed with successive betrayals by white leaders.

American whites could become a minority much sooner than they think. That has been our experience in South Africa; people appreciate the enormity of change only after it is too late.

trump has awakened the usa populace with his political incorrectness. the public has long known there was something wrong with the argument that illegal aliens can't be stopped so they might as well become citizens. the media declared any opposition to this bit of nonsequitor logic was racist therefore politically incorrect so people didn't say anything. the same tactic has been used on 9/11, the iraqi war and the confederate flag not to mention the decades long assault on the religious opposition to gay marriage. the bottom half of the class bought the bs so it became the truth.

this is the truth. illegal aliens' sole function is to put pressure on wages and keep the usa population from declining.

In an issue of The Social Contract, a group of experts assembled by Brenda Walker believed that the U.S had reached its optimum size in 1970 and should grow no larger. It discussed the significance of the United States’ population passing the 300 million mark:

“The American public did not choose to go in the direction of India and China. On the contrary, by 1970, America’s population was near stabilization, thanks to a voluntary reduction in the fertility rate. Demographers were optimistic that the United States population would peak at around 247 million by 2030 and then start to decline.

“Against the public interest, at the very time that Americans were adopting population stabilization in their personal lives, Congress opened the door to massive population growth by the 1965 Immigration Act. Historian Theodore White, an admirer of Lyndon Johnson, confessed that the 1965 Immigration Act was ‘probably the most thoughtless of the many acts of the Great Society.’ He went on to admit in his book, America in Search of Itself (1982), the changes brought about by the 1965 Immigration Act may end up being key contributing factors in ‘What could become a catastrophe—the tide of immigration, legal and illegal, pouring into this country. For the under swell, neither the census nor any other authority can provide fully reliable measurements. One starts with the obvious: The United States has lost one of the cardinal attributes of sovereignty—it no longer controls its own borders....’”

The 1965 immigration Act, conceived and promoted by Jewish groups, limited immigrants of European descent and opened America’s borders almost exclusively to the Third World. It was opposed by the American people two-to-one. It has been one of the most major and destructive changes in American prosperity and stability. It has been the force behind the destruction of America’s middle class family, behind the destruction of America’s white European Christian culture, behind the destruction of the nation built by America’s Founding Fathers.

The course that the Founders set was attacked and altered principally by international interests in 1913 with the establishment of the Federal Reserve. Then, armed with fiat money and a printing press, the Congress and Presidency were corrupted and in 1965 Americans lost their country to the international bankers and Third World immigration.

WE ARE UNDER INVASION soon to be OCCUPATION unless we 1) seal the border. 2) repatriate everyone who is not supposed to be here back to FUXICO, or SHITHOLEISTAN, or the FUCKING SUB CONTINENT 3) turn off all of the freebie magnets our government promises them to lure them here in the 1st place. and 4) LINE UP ALL OF THE CORPORATE LOBBYISTS AND MAKE THEM ALL FIGHT EACH OTHER DIFFERENT VENUES AROUND THE COUNTRY GLADIATOR STYLE UNTIL THEY ARE ALL DEAD.
