Ok, what would make anyone actually believe this? When has Russia ever defended any of it's so called allies? Never. Iraq, Ukraine, Serbia, Syria, Yemen, Libya. The fact is that most often Russia (and Putin) votes FOR sanctions against their "allies". (Or Russia abstains from voting and thus gives approval.) Russia actually helps disarm the countries before the US/NATO attack, such as Iraq and Syria's chemical weapons. Russia approves no fly zones in the same manner. Russia has partnered with Turkey, who is key in the attack against Syria.
Russia still has not delivered any of the missiles to Iran that were agreed upon many years ago and refuses to even discuss delivering on fully signed contract to deliver missiles to Syria.

And why would the west need to use nuclear weapons against Iran or N Korea to destroy them? Neither have a weapon that can reach the US. There has been seculation that N Korea has something in theory but even if it did it would be so primative as to not be capable of penetrating defenses from that distance. The US would just do an Iraq 3 and 4 using convential weapons. Unless the military wants to play with tactical nukes of limited size.
Putin cannot/will no even stop the rag tag forces of W Ukraine. My guess is that it would be a sailboat on the Hudson or Potomac rivers. The material and physical constraints on a simple gun-type fission weapon are greatly relaxed when a long barrel is used. A sailboat's mast allows for a long gun barrel that reduces the peak acceleration required to reach a velocity that enables the proper assembly of a critical mass. The mast/gun barrel would be evacuated and a sabot would be used with the projectile mass. The target uranium mass would be in the sailboat's keel. The keel could thus contain not only the HEU required for critical mass assembly, but several hundred pounds of depleted uranium that would contribute to the overall yield through neutron capture by atoms at a distance from the critical mass. Of course, this would be a suicide mission, but considering recent history and the current state of affairs in the Middle East, I suspect that they would have more difficulty finding competent sailors than they would in finding somebody who is willing to arm and trigger a nuclear device from a bosun's chair.

Having sailed a bit, I knew that racing yachts had already used depleted uranium for keels. After watching a few documentaries on the Manhattan Project and seeing the specifications for "Little Boy" on Wikipedia, it seemed kind of obvious.
Edit: I failed to credit one other source of inspiration. About 40 years ago my brother and I picked up an old hitchhiker in Berkeley. He told us that the French had planted an atomic bomb underneath the Richmond-San Rafael bridge and that when the time was right they would detonate it in order to start a war between the USA and USSR. Years later, sailing under the Richmond-San Rafael bridge caused me to think about nuclear weapons in a context where they would normally be the furthest thing from my mind.
