3-Year-Old London Child Deemed "Extremist"; Placed In Government Reeducation Program

Nursery school staff and registered childminders must report toddlers at risk of becoming terrorists, under counter-terrorism measures proposed by the Government.
The directive is contained in a 39-page consultation document issued by the Home Office in a bid to bolster its Prevent anti-terrorism plan.
The document accompanies the Counter-Terrorism and Security Bill, currently before parliament. It identifies nurseries and early years childcare providers, along with schools and universities, as having a duty “to prevent people being drawn into terrorism”.

A three-year-old child from London is one of hundreds of young people in the capital who have been tipped as potential future radicals and extremists.
As reported by the Evening Standard, 1,069 people have been put in the government’s anti-extremism ‘Channel’ process, the de-radicalization program at the heart of the Government’s ‘Prevent’ strategy.
The three-year-old in the program is from the borough of Tower Hamlets, and was a member of a family group that had been showing suspect behavior.
Since September 2014, 400 under 18s, including teenagers and children, have been referred to the scheme.
The fact that this story broke on the same day that chairman of the UK’s Lords Privileges and Conduct Committee, Lord John Sewel, was caught on video snorting cocaine off the breast of a prostitute with a £5 note, is simply priceless. You just can’t make this stuff up.

A personal story. I homeschooled my son 3 days a week because he was being forced to count segments on a snake even though he had mastered his multiplication tables and basic arthimetic by 1st grade. In addition he'd tested between 138-150 on various IQ tests. Well, I get a letter saying requesting a meeting with the Principal and School nurse who were well aware of my stance. It was a short encounter- I told them that the reason the school system is so poor is because they employed subnormal administrators and teachers. That night I got a call from child protection services telling me that if they didn't have immediate access to our house that our son would be removed BECAUSE OF EDUCATIONAL NEGLECT.
I won but it was a shitty experience. My son has skipped a few grades and is due to enter college at 15.
Hate to tell you this, but as a past university educator, your son is now going to learn even more shit.
Universities don't teach proper knowledge anymore they teach theories of the professors' interests, interests that are usually false and only there to beneft personal gain (all subjects are like that now, i come from physics, it is worse there!) I don't think your son is really going to benefit as much as you think.
I hate saying this, but its a fact.
I am sorry, very sorry that you had to endure what you did with your son. The educational systems today are all failing miserably, including universities.
What you did as a father is a wonderful thing. I applaud you, so much so, that I can honestly say you are a better man than I am. I salute you.
Be more focused on what your son interests are and focus on them, and if you can disuse the university system in anyway do so, he will be better off. Otherwise, I wish you and your son all the best.
To your son: when learning in university, do not follow the professors, follow your own ideas and thoughts but never divulge these ideas to them. But give the professors what they want, even if you disagree with them. Later after you have your degree(s) follow your own path.

Somebody once said the main purpose of education is to provide the child/young adult with a built in bullshit detector that will last for life. It is beyond obvious that our present educational 'system' from kindergarden thru college/university is not interested in that.
The fact that it is increasingly difficult to home school is a real clue of how bankrupt the 'system' is. Again, most rural areas are more amenable to home schooling than the major metropolitan areas (generality, but reasonably accurate).
We are really overdue for a major, major reset.

Damn. Sorry to hear that story, but good for you. I've homeschooled my kids for years without incident and am grateful to live in a state that has zero oversight of homeschoolers. But we have to be ever vigilant. They recently tried to make us all register & have home visits (this is in Michigan) because some crazy woman killed two of her kids and told the school they were being homeschooled, so the murders were not discovered right away. It was utterly absurd logic. But we're a well-organized bunch and the letters and phone calls poured in, until the head of the education committee in the Senate announced that no such bill would ever come to a vote in the Senate under his watch, and that put an end to it.
My 15-year-old is reading college textbooks and original research papers in her areas of interest, and I'm having a hard time justifying spending $15-25k a year at one of the local universities when she is doing it herself at age 15 right before my eyes. It's a lot of money to spend for a middle class ticket with no guarantees. But she will likely want to do scientific research and may be locked out of that system if we don't cough up. It's angering.

"Looking ahead, the outlook for the ruble depends on what happens to oil next," Ermolenko said in emailed comments.
"For now we expect oil to end the year at $55 per barrel, meaning the ruble should stabilise around its current level."
The central bank is expected to announce on Friday whether it will cut interest rates further, but the ruble's plunge could lead the authorities to decide against it to prevent inflation from spiralling out of control.
Last month, the Bank of Russia cut its interest rate for the fourth time this year to support the struggling economy.

But US fighter planes were not to be left out. They came later to machine-gun the running men, women and children in the streets. More than 135,000 people were killed, primarily civilians.

They didn't just bomb Dresden - they fire-bombed it. The roads were so hot the pavement melted - many people became stuck in it and were burned alive. People hiding in basements found that they were cooked alive but not before all the oxygen was sucked out to feed the flames. This was a truly monstrous act on the part of Churchill and the British. Now we learn from The Jerusalem Post that one of the most militant spying accomplishments is being rewarded by the American government in releasing Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard. And that’s not the half of it; it is likely that this long contested release decision is to help America defend its nuclear peace treaty with Iran. Anything that can be done to keep Israel from its constant aggression now includes giving up a dangerous spy.

The Parole Commission relayed the decision to Pollard's lawyers, Elliot Lauer and Jacques Semmelman. Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked was also told and broke the news on Twitter.

"I would like to thank the many thousands of well-wishers in the United States, in Israel, and throughout the world, who provided grass roots support by attending rallies, sending letters, making phone calls to elected officials, and saying prayers for my welfare. I am deeply appreciative of every gesture, large or small."
The attorneys have been told that Pollard must remain in the US for five years under the parole ruling but that US president Barack Obama has the power to allow him to move to Israel sooner by commuting his sentence to time served.
