LinkedIn Pumps'n'Dumps As Revenue Growth Rate Continues To Slow

Tyler Durden's picture

Despite early exuberance at beating top and bottom lines (and users), it appears those looking for hyper-growth opportunities are selling into the machines. An initial 12% spike in the stock after hours has been completely destroyed into the red as investors realize growth rates continue to tumble, capex is rising, and organic growth is slow.

Pump... and Dump!

as Revenue growth rates continue to tumble...

LinkedIn would be worth a lot more if not for the destruction of the American job market by Obama's tranny-state economic policies and the unrestricted flow of welfare recipients and jail birds from south of the border.

In a (hopefully brief) job transition.  So far, the two interviews I've had have come from the Texas unemployment site and not from LNKD.

I joined the trial of their "premium" job seeeker feature, which costs $30 per month after trial.  There was an active thread about whether or not the premium feature was worth it.  It seems pretty clear most people think it is a waste of money.

I was paying for Premium for years, and finally I sobered up and realized it was worth jack shit.

Never received one job offer despite copiuous applciations.  Got all my jobs contacting employers directly.

Here's my thoughts on why LinkedIn is a waste of time, and their lack of growth is no surprise:

I have very good luck with LinkedIn.  I received offers to interview me for jobs, even though I was not looking and had a full time job.  I even had Apple and other reknowned companies contact me. When I was laid off I had great leads coming from LinkedIn.  One was a golden opportunity to work at Abu Dhabi will all expenses paid, no taxation and a big jump in salary!!

Better yet - I did not pay anything to LinkedIn.

On the other hand, if you don't have a marketable skillset, nothing in the world can save you - not even linkedin.  (ps. Day Trading is not marketable).

American Punditocracy

Credit for compliance and debt for non-compliance, measuring the resulting goods and services, is not an economy. If you look at media commentary, you will see that all the monkeys talk about is the past, and seek consensus to project the future, as the basis of decision, which can only result in replication and redundancy. With eyes, ears and projectors in every device, wall and satellite, to ensure a positive feedback loop, the only possible outcome is demographic collapse.

The apes are at least smart enough to recognize that the monkey economy is a virus, and to feed it accordingly, limiting their own demographic variability, to create “a race of thoroughbreds.” Refreshing the media hacks with a new dress changes nothing, but is sufficient to keep the monkeys occupied, occupying space to grow real estate inflation, noise disabling the monkeys with falling living standards, the Internet wealth effect.

All roads lead to empire real estate inflation, and the apes simply expand and contract the round-a-bouts to maintain artificial pressure, depending upon natural planetary processes and associated duration mismatches to reboot the ponzi for them. Religion, politics and science are just different dresses they pull out of the closet, depending upon which superstition is in vogue among the monkeys at the time.

In an environment that penalizes you for work, actually producing something of value to your family, and rewards make-work, arbitrary skills to project the something-for-nothing fantasy, no work is done. The monkeys collect natural resources and get in line, delivering them to apes, aspiring to real estate inflation themselves, and die along the way, only to be replaced by the next set of monkeys, when nature regenerates itself.

Trying to convince the monkeys and apes to behave otherwise is a waste of time because the behavior is bred into their DNA. As you have seen, to the extent that you try to educate them, they are simply going to twist your words to justify what they were going to do anyway, pretend to work, confirming their own biases.

That doesn't mean that everyone is a moron or that the system is evil. It's just gravity, from which life, that which is unique, is distilled out. The unions no more represent labor than government or non-profits. If the Democrats represented labor and the Republicans represented capital, the trade unions wouldn't be collapsing, only to be replaced by paper make-work unions, and Detroit wouldn't be bankrupt, replaced by a dc circuit in Silicon Valley, all floated on the margin by Congress printing money in the highway bill.

There is no point in entering the round-a-bout until the economic gears are re-installed – anonymous money, commercial lines of credit, blah, blah, blah. And if you think, all you have to do to traverse all the round-a-bouts simultaneously is to stand at the root node in the multiplexer. Trump doesn't need a plan. Without labor, there is no capital, and all the monkeys a can do is form a line.

For obvious reasons, capital is on a need-to-know basis and it doesn't need to know. Anyone can choose to join labor at any time, but the majority chooses the corporate path of least resistance every time. Paying entitlements, artificial generational warfare, with real estate inflation as an ATM, has only one possible outcome, economic discharge, and only you, as an individual, can choose to make a difference. Sending your kids to Yale is not the answer.

Funny, the US is importing best social service practice from Canada, Canada is receiving real estate inflation in return, and Saudi Arabia is employing tar sands as a pivot, collapsing the Chinese market as an intermediary, which Russia is competing to employ, along with Israel, all hoping to re-establish the Persian empire, as a counterweight. That should end well.

IN 5000+ years, the critters have not come up with a recipe to replace marriage yet, but that never stops them from trying, mimicking each other expecting a different result. An increasing percentage of make-workers voting to increase conditions on work in an empire experiencing demographic collapse isn't going to get the empire moving again, and a shark that cannot move dies.

All kids are not quite as stupid as the majority of their elders assume. Feeding the apes when they want to be fed is not more important than your family. Neither capital nor the middle class is the beginning and the end. “Be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed posses the gate...”

What is the trend line for homeownership, the empire dream of entitlement, among young people? Where are young people going to get the skills they need? What is an economy of artificial media mobility worth? What is a skyscraper full of Einsteins worth without Archimedes?

Having a child is far more important than fixing an elevator for monkeys, even if the apes threaten to close down their own skyscrapers. And if they really want their elevator fixed, they will stop shorting it out to confirm their own biases in the first place. It's easy for a single person, in or out of civil marriage, to mistake government for God, being credited in other people's debt, with increasing leverage on the margin, to do so.

Labor doesn't need an empire, but an empire properly placed is quite useful, and an empire can only replicate itself in place. If the perception of time only moves in one direction, where do you suppose the electron is?
