Gold Surges Back Above $1100 As Dollar Dumps After Wage Data

Tyler Durden's picture

Paper gold prices continue their extreme volatility ride, spiking $20 as the dismal ECI data hit this morning (as we pre-suppose weak data means moar money printing inevitably coming down the pike)...

GOLD FALLS BELOW $1100 AS WAGES GROWTH IS MEANINGLESS IN MANIPULATED MARKETS.

In other news...... Kim Kardashian's cat is still wearing a pink ribbon which she placed on it last night.

Guys ... this is just dumb. We all know the number on the screen is manipulated and has no connection with reality. It is all about perception at this stage, it will work until it doesn`t. Look at Greece, banks are still closed. The perception will change only after the fact. These numbers are at this point beyond meaningless. Reality for the masses is what they perceive, noting else. You have to give to the PTB, they are putting up a hell of a show!

Indeed, if they print more paper USD, you can be sure that they will print more paper gold to go with it. The gold price IS the monetary policy.

And which, in part, partially explains the aggressive take down of late. If there are known in advance (By the Cartel) reasons for Gold to rise, (Such as economic data like this) The Cartel will ALWAYS take it down first so that the rebound is from lower levels and back to where it actually started.

It has all become so painfully obvious and a total joke?

Popular or not my GLD trend line is still very negative so this little bump has a long way to go before anything bullish gets signalled.

I wouldn't put my name on a $350 bottom but I would definitely attach it on sub $1000 for sure.

Silver at $2-ish.

Gold at $16-ish.

Just remember when they print more money, (or at least give the indication that they are) they make more paper gold and silver to manipulate the market price.  They don't actually buy more gold or silver.  That would take work, versus pushing a button to "print" more gold or silver.

Appearently everyone is fine with more debt so let's see if we can improve the 7 out of 10 number posted this morning by getting billionaires to the point that they are eating cat food out of the can with a stick in a ditch somewhere.  Let's aim for at least a 5 out of 10.

Obviously there are still too many rich people and the only way to kick them off the ivory tower to run the debt to beyond hyper inflation so all their cheques don't cover shit.  In the meanwhile, for those that want to get out of the way?

BitCoin.  Get some.

From ZH: " spiking $20"...

I can only assume in our free and non-manipulated markets, that the media will be all over the sudden interest in gold and pro-gold articles which would take many hours to write will have appeared within moments of this spike.

Guests on mainstream TV today will laugh out loud at the "slaughter" of the gold shorts and editorialists will joke about how you need a pet rock to keep your paper money on top of your desk when there is a breeze.

Anything less would mean a coordinated anti-gold conspiracy in the west and we all know how crazy that idea is.

Thanks. WOW! Read about this fraud!

"[Bullion Direct] interpreted the provisions of the Terms of Service agreement such that when a customer placed an order, the precious metal was not actually purchased unless the customer agreed to take actual delivery of the product."

In other words, when someone bought $10,000 of metal and sent a check for $10,000, Bullion Direct would show the product in your porfolio. But they would not actually buy the metal. There is no sign that any hedging was done, either.

HFT probably contributes more to prices remaining the same, rather than resulting in fixing prices to advantage. The latest decline in gold was meant to arrange for a price fix before derivatives options expiry and monthly precious metals options expiry.

It doesn't appear that the buyback before the monthly close is presenting any problems.

These knee-jerk reactions to "news" typically last hours, and that's it.  Moves like this aren't even worthy of an article or report.  "Wage data" is not what drives gold price.  The volume of fiat floating around in the world... that's what drives gold prices.

Here's the way this is going to play out:  Commodity prices all over the world have fallen hard.  But they aren't even close to finished crashing... and that includes gold and silver.  The Chinese stock markets are giving us a glimpse of what's just around the corner for western stock casinos.  In order to try to avoid a repeat of the crash of 2009, the reaction from the bankers is going to be epic.  ZH covered that aspect only an hour ago:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-07-30/western-central-banks-have-set-...

In a nutshell, if you're wondering if this is the bottom in gold, just ask yourself this question "Have I seen an epic crash in the stock markets in the past month?".  If the answer is "NO", then there is no reason for more printing on the levels we're talking about here.  Without that catalyst of extreme fear and panic being set off by a global firestorm of burning stock prices... gold continues lower.

BUT, as soon as you hear them even pondering "emergency funding" or "QE", no matter what they call it... back your truck up and load it with silver.

Silver almost hit $15. Almost.

If you're worried about delivery, buy on ebay. Premiums are about 20-25%, but companies like Scottsdale Silver are well-represented and, because they don't want to get their feedback dinged, ship super fast.

I spoke to one of their reps a while ago and he said they ship ebay orders quicker than orders on their website because of ebay's feedback system.

The premiums I find not to be a problem, since, when you re-sell (like that's ever going to happen), you'll get a premium price paid. That's been my experience, anyhow.

Hi-o-silver! Away!

Gotta set up for a supposedly horrible price smash on Sunday night.

Don't care what it does now... when deflation kicks in it will keep dropping. In fact, that is why it is dropping now. Say hello to $800 by the end of next year. And US GVT bonds will keep going up, perhaps even pushing yields below zero. Gold will be considered dead by everyone not named Peter Schiff.

When all that happens.... that will be the time to buy gold.

Did you just say 'surges above $1100'? This isn't 2009.

The thing about this little surge is how quickly TPTB runs over and snuff it out.  Can't have people owning gold and leaving TPTB financial waters.  There'd be no hypothecating nor re-hypothecating. No being able to pilfer folks savings by lyin' and stealin'.  No monthy commission checks because folks not trading.  The TPTB would be out of business in a heartbeat if gold prices reflected honest trading of physical metals.  The biggest deal is that gold is mark'd to market instantly every tick, whereas many paper promises called "assets" are never mark'd to market.

Nothing to see, it's pretty much range bound at the moment.
