The Population Bomb

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Adam Taggart via PeakProsperity.com,

In 1968, Paul Ehrlich released his ground-breaking book The Population Bomb, which awoke the national consciousness to the collision-course world population growth is on with our planet's finite resources. His work was reinforced several years later by the Limits To Growth report issued by the Club of Rome.

Fast-forward almost 50 years later, and Ehrlich's book reads more like a 'how to' manual. Nearly all the predictions it made are coming to pass, if they haven't already. Ehrlich admits that things are even more dire than he originally forecasted; not just from the size of the predicament, but because of the lack of social willingness and political courage to address or even acknowledge the situation:

The situation is much more grim because, of course, when the population bomb was written, there were 3.5 billion people on the planet. Now there are 7.3 billion people on the planet. And we are projected to have something on the order of 9.6 billion people 35 years from now. That means that we are scheduled to add to the population many more people than were alive when I was born in 1932. When I was born there were 2 billion people. The idea that, in 35 years when we already have billions of people hungry or micronutrient-malnourished, we are somehow going to have to take care of 2.5 billion more people is a daunting idea.

I think it's going to get a lot worse for a lot more people. You've got to remember that each person we add disproportionately causes ecological damage. For example, human beings are smart. So human beings use the easiest to get to, the purest, the finest resources first.

When thousands of years ago we started to fool around with copper, copper was lying on the surface of the earth. Now we have at least one mine that goes down at least two miles and is mining copper that is about 0.3% ore. And yet we go that deep and we refine that much. Same thing the first commercial oil well in the United States. We went down 69.5 feet in 1859 to hit oil. The one off in the Gulf of Mexico started a mile under water and went down a couple of more miles before it had the blow-out that ruined the Gulf of Mexico.

Each person you add has to be fed from poorer land, drink water that has to be pumped from deeper wells or transported further or purified more, and have their materials sourced from other depleting resources. And so there is a disproportion there. When you figure that we are going to have to try and feed several billion more people and that the agricultural system itself, the food system supplies something like 30% of the greenhouse gases we put into the atmosphere. Those greenhouse gases are changing the climate rapidly, yet rapid climate change is the big enemy of agriculture -- you can see that we are heading down a road that leads to a bridge that’s out. And we are not paying any attention to trying to apply the brakes

All environmental and resource issues are due to degredation and depletion over the years.  Long term, the only solution is population reduction.  This can be achieved in two ways....the easy way or the hard way.  If the population has not yet reach earth's sustainable yield threshold, I can't help but think it's close.  All of the world's population growth is occurring in the 3rd world. When it comes to getting their slice of a shrinking global pie, these populations don't have much to lose.  They're already on the move.

The progressive murder machine rears it's evil head again. How sick and twisted. Worse than ISIS. Waaay worse.

Progressives murder their own babies. (See if you can find a less crunchy way) :(

Progressives euthanize old people.

Progressive terrorist Eric Holder has murdered hundreds with his felony Fast and Furious crime against humanity.

Eco murderers mandate death by smaller and smaller cars. Talk about crunchy.

Progressives have launched a illegal alien invasion of America and they don't care how many American citizens die as a result.

Hillary Clinton destroys Libya and Syria, setting in motion a river of blood and death.

The list goes on and on. Progressives are stone cold murderers, the face of death for millions.

Oh and yet another little jewel of progressive murder is associated with this article. Progressive murderer Ehrlich complains that pesticides like DDT save too many lives.

http://www.thenewamerican.com/tech/environment/item/15583-ddt-breeds-death

"DDT’s life-saving properties are lost to them because the EPA’s 1972 ban sparked a global censure of the pesticide. The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) now classifies it as one of 12 “Persistent Organic Pollutants” (POPs), otherwise known as “The Dirty Dozen.” UNEP claims DDT is a danger to humans and the environment. Yet a closer look at the case reveals a terrifying reality: saving lives isn’t what policymakers are after.

“My chief quarrel with DDT in hindsight is that it has greatly added to the population problem,” complained Alexander King, co-founder of the Club of Rome, a global think-tank dedicated to population reduction. In his 1968 best-selling book The Population Bomb, Malthusian Paul Ehrlich warned that “every life saved this year in a poor country diminishes the quality of life for subsequent generations,” arguing against DDT as “exported death control.” Sierra Club Director Michael McCloskey explained his organization’s opposition to DDT in 1971, saying, “By using DDT, we reduce mortality rates in underdeveloped countries without the consideration of how to support the increase in populations.”

Progressives openly conspire to commit murder--- and then they do it, on a massive scale. One million die from malaria every year because of progressives want them dead. They lied about DDT so people would die.

Progressives are the face of death for millions. Murderers all. And it is never too late to prosecute for murder.

Not necessarily so, Maxter.

Not unless, along with that miraculous technology, we also had the political will to use it to engage in maximum recycling of material. Otherwise, miraculous energy technology, pumped into social pyramid systems controlled by backing up lies with violence, that were still operating through fundamentally fraudulent financial accounting systems, would only enable civilization to become even more criminally insane.

The bottom line for human civilization is always:

WHAT ARE THE DEATH CONTROL SYSTEMS?

Answering that question better takes a series of intellectual scientific revolutions, which would radically change the ways that we perceive everything regarding politics. I tend to believe it may be theoretically possible that some new energy sources could be developed. However, even with those kinds of scientific breakthroughs and related technological miracles, the bottom line would still have to be WHAT ARE THE DEATH CONTROL SYSTEMS? Of course, for enough human beings to become more genuinely scientific about that is not politically possible, and therefore, we are watching runaway systems of death insanities, developing into more severe social storms.

Almost everything that we call "birth controls" are actually forms of death control. By and large, there are extreme contradictions and intense paradoxes with respect to human civilization, since the actually existing combined money/murder systems developed to become more socially successful through being the most fraudulent and deceitful possible systems. A lot of the various comments above were superficial reflections regarding aspects of the paradoxes with respect to militarism, which includes manifestations such as "suicides," as well as approaches to "family planning." Human civilization has developed in ways which operated its actual murder systems in the most dishonest ways possible, and thus, the history of social successfulness based upon that history makes it now be politically impossible to change in any better ways than runaway death insanities being the defaults.

The human species internalized natural selection pressures to become intelligence that developed artificial selection systems. However, the history of that was based on warfare which was most socially successful when it was the most deceitful and treacherous, while then that became the foundation for political economy based upon enforced frauds. Generally speaking, it is currently politically impossible to have any more genuinely scientific society, because doing so necessarily has to admit and address the actual death controls, backing up the actual debt controls, which turn out to actually be operating according to the principles and methods of organized crime.

Since I was a teenager, several decades ago, when I recognized that I had been born into a civilization that was based upon presuming endless exponential growth, while it backed that up with weapons of mass destruction, I have been developing theories regarding artificial selection systems that could possibly cope with those problems. I continue to do that now ... However, the current conclusions that I have come to are that nothing can prevent the established systems from going through overshoot in a nutshell, which will result in runaway death insanities. It continues to be that case that the only theoretically genuine solutions would have to be the development of better death control systems. However, since the actually existing systems developed to be based upon the maximum possible deceits, and there is almost nothing but a core of organized crime, surrounded by controlled opposition groups, both of which stay within the same deceitful frame of reference regarding the death control issues, I can not realistically imagine any other actual outcomes than for there to develop way worse death insanities in the foreseeable future.

One of the INTENSE PARADOXES at the present time is that any more progress in basic science, and the possible technologies that may emerge out of that, would ONLY pump up the criminal insanities of the already existing civilization, being controlled by integrated systems of legalized lies, backed by legalized violence. What exists now is almost nothing but a core of organized crime, surrounded by controlled opposition groups, both of which make it politically impossible to develop better death control systems. Therefore, we are headed, by default, towards the existing, deceitful, death controls, becoming much more insane death controls ... while it continues to be politically impossible to prevent or prepare for how bad that will get for future generations.

If one was serious about "The Population Bomb," then one must go through radical changes in the ways that one thinks about the death control systems. Without such series of profound intellectual revolutions in political science, then any more progress in basic science and technology will only end up enabling civilization to become even more criminally insane than it already is ... IF human beings are going to survive the progress in physical science that they have already achieved, and might continue to achieve in the future, then human beings would have to become more scientific about themselves. However, any such better political science are obviously politically impossible achievements at the present time, since the INTENSE PARADOXES revolve around human civilizations necessarily operating according to the principles and methods of organized crime, because what must be the most central and crucial issues are the death control systems.

The only overall real political resolutions to our real problems would require developing radically different death control systems, which ideally should be "better" in the sense of enabling greater use of information and higher consciousness, BUT, which continues to be politically impossible, since the actually existing systems, with their core of organized crime, surrounded by controlled opposition groups, developed be run by the best available professional liars and immaculate hypocrites, due to the real history of warfare being based upon success through backing up deceits with destruction, which morphed to become financial successfulness based upon enforced frauds. The existing death control systems operate through the maximum possible dishonesties, and thus, "The Population Bomb" automatically keeps of ticking, while it constantly gets pumped up and UP, bigger and BIGGER!

Ok I've listened to Ehrlich. I do not like that person. I don't like his attitude and I don't like the way he tries to associate credibility by tying it to elitism. In other words he is not scientific in his expression and that is even without the problem that the elite fund the projects and determine the results ahead of time. Peer review today simply means that you get paid if you agree with what the elite wish the results to be and you don't get paid if you disagree. I mean the guy takes a sickening approach to evidence for what he says. This is not the same world that it was 30 years ago and things do not work the same way. And that is a serious problem because Ehrlich is a very bright guy and yet he is so off base because of his biases.

I'm going to recommend a new rule on Q99X2 where nobody over 30 are allowed to have money or voice their opinions. Their minds have become too corrupt by the time they reach that age.

Total rehashed progressive eugenics bullshit!

Cram the people into cities, buy up all the land and claim your preserving it for future generations, and then broadcast the crowded masses as if there's no more room.

Get off your couch and take a plane ride across the country. Have a look around from 10,000 feet. It's mostly covered with vast uninhabited wilderness.

Countries with shrinking populations die, usually from economic collapse and then starvation!

This is about the Elite complaining about the rest of us using up "their" resources....

This is where Capitalism and Free Markets fail. there are some things that shouldn't dogmatically be ruled by profits. Food and housing are prime examples. There has to be a balance. There was a time when building a new home or barn was a neighborhood affair, not just another financial transaction motivated by the bottom line.

There was a time when farmers around the world reserved a portion of their crops from the markets, leaving the corners of the crops in the field for the poor to harvest for themselves.

Everyone who thinks the world is overpopulated has nothing stopping them from helping the NWO's agenda, but they, like the Elite, point to the nameless faces when looking for a solution. How very hypocritical!

"Capitalist free markets" actually included the de facto free markets in fraud and murder, which have resulted in paradoxical "capitalism." There is no way to have any idealized "free market" without some idealized "rule of law." By and large, those who promote one tend to take the other for granted, without addressing the inherent paradoxes with the enforcement of any "rule of law." The history of warfare was the de facto "free market in murder." That is what explains everything else regarding how our political economy actually operates, with governments as the biggest forms of organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals.

Of course, most of the bogus, bullshit, regarding human ecology deliberately is as anti-scientific about itself as it can possibly be. Money is measurement backed by murder. However, the combined money/murder systems operate as enforced frauds which tend to get away with being the most socially successful by being the most dishonest about themselves. The resolutions of those dilemmas are theoretically possible. However, since all the established sociopolitical systems are run by the best professional liars and immaculate hypocrites, there is barely any ways to entertain the kinds of intellectual scientific revolutions which would be necessary to reconcile the ideals of "free market capitalism" with human beings and civilizations operating as entropic pumps of energy flows. Rather, all of the established sociopolitical systems have their social successfulness upon continuing to operate through integrated systems of legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, which are able to continue to do that, by continuing to be as deliberately dishonest, and/or ignorant, about that as they can possibly be.

without the rule of law, free markets become a greed fest that feeds corruption and breeds wealth inequality, which inevitably lead to war, both civil and international.

repealing the Glass Staegall Act in the name of free markets was a boon for the rich and a nail in the coffin of the middle class. It was a step toward lawless markets and unbridled greed.

Allowing Bankers to become your investors and insurers is probably the biggest mistake of the last 100years!

The resulting push to deregulate and thus bloat the Financial industry has led to such inhumane practices as allowing them to speculate in food prices and so many other commodities, where the producer to manufacturer to consumer chain has now grown to include multiple layers of middle men skimming these industries of profits they haven't earned.

The same for the deregulation of the mortgage industry. What used to be a transaction between producers of building materials and consumers building a home with the help of Family and Friends has become a Leviathan of the financial industry. With their myriad of mortgage products and Securitization they have robbed millions of people and billions of dollars have disappeared into the hands of the super rich through their Mortgage bubble machines.

We could go on with the destruction of the patient to Doctor relationship, and pupil to teacher. All of these essential parts of life have been hijacked by the elite, in the name of free markets, through manipulating the rule of law.

Food, Housing, Education and Health Care should only produce a profit for those directly involved in those services and no law should be made that would hinder the consumer's ability to shop for the best provider of those services.

If I want to buy raw milk from a local farmer there shouldn't be a lawman standing in my way to "protect me"!

 Kings insist on things

& I agree,

Yen Cross:

The dictionary defines "insist" as "to be resolute or firm in a demand." Those who are relatively stronger can insist, while those who are relatively weaker could only demand.

Serfs were less able to back up their lies with violence than Kings. Similarly, the vast majority of debt slaves are less able to control governments than banksters. War Kings morphing to become Fraud Kings, while the serfs became debt slaves, was indeed due to the degree to which those with the most powerful demand were those who could insist.

The Fraud Kings make the public "money" supply out of nothing, while the rest are the serfs which have to "borrow" that. Of course, more than 99% are the serfs, which can not legally counterfeit "money" like the less than 1% of the Fraud Kings could. Meanwhile, money controlled food, and food controlled people. The social pyramid systems are supposed to enable the Kings to control the serfs, so that the Kings continue to be able to eat, even while the serfs are starving.

The political economy more and more more only cares about those with the most "money," while those with less no longer matter. Those with the most "money" (and especially those who are most able to make more "money" out of nothing) can continue to insist, while the ability of those who are poorer, (and especially those who can not legally make and "money" out of nothing) have to demand.

Demand destruction appears due to the debt slaves' demands becoming too weak. On the flip side, the banksters are becoming more able to insist. However, it is no longer clear than any human beings are going to be able to insist enough, anymore, due to the systems of being able to back up lies with violence having grown at an exponential rate, until nobody can control that anymore. In my view, the demand destruction will surely start at the bottom of the social pyramid system, but eventually that will destroy the power of the pyramidion people too.

At some point, the formal illusion of "supply and demand" can not create the "supply" out of nothing, no matter how much demand, or even insistent demand, there may be. The Population Bomb explodes at that point. As long as the human population can continue to grow, then The Population Bomb is also growing ... When the most insistent demands of human beings can no longer create enough supply out of nothing, the corrections to those systems based upon "paying" to strip-mine the planet's natural resources at an exponential growth rate will result in the biggest ever boom becoming the biggest ever bust, in which case the change from the human population being able to double every few decades will even more quickly result in the human population being cut in half, and in half again ...

Women that have less than 2 children are committing suicide, while those who have more than 2 are declaring war on their neighbours.

Overall, the rich are committing suicide, while the poor are declaring war on them. However, at the same time, the richest of the rich are preparing to start more genocidal wars, and impose martial law, in ways that could mass murder most of those who were less rich and/or much poorer.

Before Paul Ehrlich and John Holdren there was Thomas Robert Malthus (b. 1766) who wanted to rid the streets of the poor.

Today's Malthusians are starting to see their dreams come true. Obama's science Czar Holdren, wrote that he wanted to see forced abortions and put things in the drinking water, secretly, to sterilize populations. Now that we have hormones from birth control pills circulating in our water supply and sperm counts and birth rates falling, he is starting to see his dreams come true. Of course, the frogs and fish (call them "Caitlyn") are already becoming sexually confused and hermophroditic, too.

Obamacare is going to increase the death rates through denial of treatment and there will be forced abortions (do not doubt it) after required prenatal testing identifies 'defective' genomes 'prone to disease'. At first for things like cystic fibrosis, but then later for things like high cholesterol and types of arthritis; and then for behavioral traits, etc.; that's where it is all going. Think "Gattaca" and eugenics -- the socialist fantasy short cut to their utopia.

Oh and I forgot, the British Empire loves chaining their lies together.  I also forget to say they changed arithmetic into mathematics.

So they use their bullshit mathematics in an attempt to prove their pseudoscience (like say climate change) and their answer is to utilize their rigged markets (Wall Street/The City).  It's a scam all the way.

The problem with the world today, is that there is consequences to following complete and utter bullshit.  That's what we're facing, and specifically, the United States has ditched it's far superior ideology, and has been recolonized ideology wise by the British Empire.

So we push their bullshit, and everyone bought in because we were the great America, and now after decades, the rot that comes from following bullshit, has consequences, and we see it everywhere.

It's not a population bomb, it's following the ideology of the British Empire, which is fucking us.

An honest capitalist cannot succeed when the British Empire is fucking everything up.  So ditch it.

Ditch the ideology, before their Nazi's/Al-Qeada/ISIS start WWIII.  Or they shut down industry with their climate change.  Or their derivatives take out everyone's deposits.  Or their control over Obama via fuckups like Tony Blair succeed in getting the Obummer to take a step too far, and it all ends with mushroom clouds.  Don't forget to her and her Nazi husband such an outcome would be magnificent, because their stated on the record policy is for there to be less then 1 billion humans.

So the next time you see the bitch queen on the television, or the 'telly', give the woman responsible for more deaths then Hitler, Pol Pot, and Stalin combined, with plans for about 6 billion MORE, the big middle finger.

I am not really afraid of death but the suffering of children I find completely intolerable.  This screwed political and banking system wants us to think that we have to keep breeding to keep the machine running (or at least they have up until this recent movement), that just adds another reason to refuse.  Since they are all pschopaths maybe they just want a big orgie of death and suffering, who knows.

Better check the sources on "Population" before making such spectacular claims. Who is counting the people again? THese numbers wouldn't be inflated to get more government money would they??? This has much more to do with the rich elite hoarding resources and technology than the population growing out of control... which if one looks into to it... one will find very questionable practices when it comes to calculating the number of people.

https://damnthematrix.wordpress.com/2015/07/27/human-domination-of-the-b...

this is just part of the opening paragrah.  It's a mind opening read.  See the whole article at the above link.

"Earth is a chemical battery where, over evolutionary time with a trickle-charge of photosynthesis using solar energy, billions of tons of living biomass were stored in forests and other ecosystems and in vast reserves of fossil fuels. In just the last few hundred years, humans extracted exploitable energy from these living and fossilized biomass fuels to build the modern industrial-technological-informational economy, to grow our population to more than 7 billion, and to transform the biogeochemical cycles and biodiversity of the earth. This rapid discharge of the earth’s store of organic energy fuels the human domination of the biosphere, including conversion of natural habitats to agricultural fields and the resulting loss of native species, emission of carbon dioxide and the resulting climate and sea level change, and use of supplemental nuclear, hydro, wind, and solar energy sources. The laws of thermodynamics governing the trickle-charge and rapid discharge of the earth’s battery are universal and absolute; the earth is only temporarily poised a quantifiable distance from the thermodynamic equilibrium of outer space. Although this distance from equilibrium is comprised of all energy types, most critical for humans is the store of living biomass. With the rapid depletion of this chemical energy, the earth is shifting back toward the inhospitable equilibrium of outer space with fundamental ramifications for the biosphere and humanity. Because there is no substitute or replacement energy for living biomass, the remaining distance from equilibrium that will be required to support human life is unknown."

I wouldn't be too quick to jump on Mr. Ehrlich's bandwagon.

I forget the name of the guy who challenged Ehrlich to name five commodites (or so I recall) of his own choice that the world was going to run out of in the next 20 years. Or was it 10? Anyhow... In order to win his side of the bet, Ehrlich's opponent would need for there to be both a drop in price and a rise in reserves of all 5.

Wanna guess who had to pay off?

Julian Simon

Simon challenged Paul R. Ehrlich to a wager[11] in 1980 over the price of metals a decade later; Simon had been challenging environmental scientists to the bet for some time. Ehrlich, John Harte and John Holdren selected a basket of five metals that they thought would rise in price with increasing scarcity and depletion.

Simon won the bet, with all five metals dropping in price.[11] Supporters of Ehrlich's position suggest that much of this price drop came because of an oil spike driving prices up in 1980 and a recession driving prices down in 1990, pointing out that the price of the basket of metals actually rose from 1950 to 1975. They also suggest that Ehrlich did not consider the prices of these metals to be critical indicators, and that Ehrlich took the bet with great reluctance. On the other hand, Ehrlich selected the metals to be used himself, and at the time of the bet called it an "astonishing offer" that he was accepting "before other greedy people jump in."

"Current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class - involving high meat intake, the use of fossil fuels, electrical appliances, home and work-place air-conditioning, and suburban housing - are not sustainable.” - Maurice Strong*, opening speech at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit

Fear is the weapon used by the Greens from Hell, the cap and trade profiteers and global controllers, to render the American people pliant enough to carry the yoke of global governance without complaint.

However, they don’t intend to restrict the causes of climate change—as if they could—they intend to restrict the peoples of the world.

And, now, it seems that decisive moment has arrived.

As Project Mayhem said November 30, 2009, on The Week in Mayhem (ZH), “[T]he issue at hand with the Cophenhagen global warming treaty atop the background of 'failed states' in the West is the construction of an entirely new quasi-corporatist global system, based around "global warming", where carbon-debt forms a core component of international trade.”  PM’s gripping summary deserves serious attention; it is comprehensive and insightful, a clarion warning in the global governance debate.

Herman van Rompuy, the first European Union President leaves no doubt as to the  agenda: “2009 is also the first year of global governance with the establishment of the G-20 in the middle of a financial crisis…The climate conference in Copenhagen is another step towards global management of our planet.”

Even  former Govenor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who couldn’t balance a budget, got into the act. According to a December 2009 issue of the SF Chroncle, he “has set an ambitious agenda to combat climate change…to prepare for the worst if human action cannot stop global warming and the rise of sea levels.” How?  He is creating a panel of 23 California leaders to make recommendations.  LOL

As to capital destruction, the author of The Green Agenda wrote in 2009: “One of the first targets of the green movement was the nuclear power industry.  Even though nuclear energy offers enormous energy potential with no C02 emissions they still revile it. They also fiercely oppose any proposals to build new hydro-electric dams based on perceived negative environmental effects. The same argument is used to oppose any proposals to develop new oil fields. They intend to starve the beast not feed it. The only sources of power that the environmental movement is willing to allow are wind and sunlight. Humans will just have to adapt to living with very low volumes of unreliable energy.

”Of course the big prize has always been to find some way to control, or even eliminate, the use of fossil fuels. After all, it is fossil fuels that have allowed the human population to blossom from a mere one billion in 1850 to more than six billion today. A single barrel of oil contains 23,000 man-hours of energy. Hence the 20 million barrels that the USA consumes each day is equivalent to 15 billion additional human workers. Oil has empowered each American worker the equivalent of 45 ‘virtual slaves’. Globally it provides us with the equivalent daily energy of more than 70 billion human workers. Try pushing your car for a few miles to see just how much work oil does for us…

“The fact that modern ‘industrial’ agriculture would collapse without fossil fuels, and as a result hundreds of millions would starve, seems to be of minor consequence. It’s just a bit of short-term pain for long-term gain. Ted Turner, who donated over a billion dollars to the United Nations specifically to fund the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) thinks that ‘A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal.’

“Hence for the green movement Global Warming presents an opportunity to finally and completely destroy the voracious beast of capitalism. They are demanding the imposition of a massive reduction in global emissions of carbon dioxide accompanied by a freeze on such emissions at the sharply reduced level. This would immediately result in the elimination or radical reduction in the supply of all goods and services that depend on fossil fuel consumption. As Al Gore says it would be a ‘wrenching transformation of society.’ Every aspect of daily life would be dramatically altered…”

"Isn't the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn't it our responsibility to bring that about?"
- Maurice Strong*, founder of the UN Environment Programme and on board of Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX)

"No matter if the science of global warming is all phony...climate change provides the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world."
- Christine Stewart, former Canadian Minister of the Environment

"A massive campaign must be launched to de-develop the United States. De-development means bringing our economic system into line with the realities of ecology and the world resource situation."
- Paul Ehrlich, Professor of Population Studies and Obama’s former Science Czar

"The only hope for the world is to make sure there is not another United States. We can't let other countries have the same number of cars, the amount of industrialization, we have in the US. We have to stop these Third World countries right where they are."
- Michael Oppenheimer, Environmental Defense Fund

"Global Sustainability requires the deliberate quest of poverty, reduced resource consumption and set levels of mortality control."
- Professor Maurice King

"We need to get some broad based support to capture the public's imagination...So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts... Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest."
- Prof. Stephen Schneider, Stanford Professor of Climatology, lead author of many IPCC reports.

"Effective execution of Agenda 21 will require a profound reorientation of all human society, unlike anything the world has ever experienced — a major shift in the priorities of both governments and individuals and an unprecedented redeployment of human and financial resources. This shift will demand that a concern for the environmental consequences of every human action be integrated into individual and collective decision-making at every level."

Best thing for the earth and the other species on this planet is to have no humans on it. We murder and place in bondage so many other species just for our food supplies and amusement. Can't wait for the earth to strike back and put the humans back in their place. Three forces at work are coming to the human race this century.

1. Economic collapse

2. End of crude oil

3. Massive global heating that will create temperatures that destroy our abilities to grow food thus eliminating the human race in a matter of years.

Once the 100,000 gigatons of methane trapped under  the artic floor  gets released into the atmosphere by the melting surface ice it's  GAME OVER HUMANS.

Scientists predict we will have the first ice free artic this September.

Perhaps someone can explain: for the last 30 - 40 years we have been sending aid to Africa. You know, to build wells, schools, etc. Despite all the money sent there over the decades, the situation does not seem to have improved one bit; all I ever see on TV are charity ads painting the grimest possible picture of life in Africa - disease, chronic hunger, lack of clean water, lack of education, lack of opportunities, environmental depletion. So this is the first question - WTF has been happening with all the funds, all the help on the ground and why do we keep pouring the same level of help into societies which seem prevented from taking advantage of them.

Secondly - with things being as bad as they are, population across Africa is exploding:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/10305000/...

How is that possible despite all the chronic problems which exist there?

". . . WTF has been happening with all the funds?"

". . .population across Africa is exploding . . ."

You answered your own question.  With more health care, better facilities, and clean water, more babies have been growing to adulthood and producing more babies (the birth rate itself hasn't increased; it just hasn't decreased).  Now the entirety of Africa and the Middle East is at war over the remaining resources.  And the population is still growing.

If you want to control population growth, it's simple.  Build a wall around Africa.  Send in no food, no medicine, and no infrastructure assistance.  Allow NO ONE OUT.  The situation will rebalance in about twenty years.

But of course, that would be Wrong.  Pity.  We may be the first species to go extinct from altruism.

The so-called Aid and Charity only exists in deceptive ways, where way more is plundered out of Africa than is given back. There tends to NOT be any genuine "altruism," just better disguised self-interest, some of which is so good at disguising itself that it does not recognize that even about itself.

My overview would require looking at death control systems holistically and historically. Africa became colonies of exploitation, and still mostly is that, although the ruling Africans have ended up becoming their own colonizers. Of course, as kchrisc has often pointed out, Zionism is basically cleverly concealed colonialism, which now similarly operates within NATO countries generally, so that pretty well everyone is controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals, including the Africans. In a sense, the divergent population problems of some groups decreasing, while other groups are increasing, can be traced back to the same mechanisms of organized crime controlling civilization, working in different ways, depending upon the area, but still working through the same basic mechanisms.

It tends to be that if one looks deeper into the population control advocacy groups, and immigration policy groups, and similarly pretty well everywhere, there are the same manifestations of the best organized gangs of criminals, surrounded by controlled opposition, so that pretty well everything that is done is done by the best available professional liars and immaculate hypocrites. The manifestation of Aid and Charity in Africa is merely another one of the facts of the deceitful pretense of altruism that is pretty well a universal characteristic.

The real world was necessarily controlled by applications of the principles and methods of organized crime, which become more socially successful the more deceitful and treacherous they were able to be. The DEEPER levels of those predicaments are that there MUST be some death control systems, however, the existing systems work through the maximum possible deceits about themselves, which that includes that those deceits also dominate the ways that the controlled opposition perceives, thinks about, and publicly discusses those kinds of issues.

However, sirik, nothing like that can actually be done inside of a MAD Money As Debt system except by more "money" being made out of nothing as debts ... BUT, the world is already drowning in debts. Furthermore, that system exists due to those debt controls being backed by the death controls. EVERY THEORETICALLY POSSIBLE Alternative Energies & Society Adapted to Them WOULD STRUGGLE TO MANIFEST INSIDE OF THE ESTABLISHED SYSTEMS, WHICH ARE COMBINED MONEY/MURDER SYSTEMS BASED UPON ENFORCED FRAUDS.

There is no doubt that there are plenty of creative alternatives which are theoretically possible. HOWEVER, none of those could be integrated into workable systems without there being alternative death control systems at their core, which then would back up alternative debt control systems, in order that it would become possible to actually develop those other alternative technologies, in any ways which did not merely make the established social pyramid systems even more psychotically unbalanced.

The real issues with respect to The Population Bomb are that any realistic resolutions to those problems, by definition, requires different human death control systems. Every possible alternative system MUST exist within some human murder systems, as the central core of the overall human death control systems. However, generally speaking, those problems are deliberately denied, since to discuss changing those systems first requires admitting and addressing what the currently existing systems already actually are, as well as then better understanding how and why those are the existing systems. Of course, those who now dominate those systems would NOT like that, (and, as well, most of those who have adapted to living inside those systems would also not like to wake up to those facts.)

Pretty well nobody is able and willing to do that. Rather, it is much nicer to focus on some of the possible lower levels of creative alternatives, without thinking about how the death control systems would necessarily have to be the lynch pin of any workable, integrated system of such alternatives, with the human murder systems as the keystone of any such system of possible creative alternatives. Generally speaking, human civilization does the best it can to deliberately misunderstand itself in the maximum possible absurdly backward ways! Therefore, every attempt to consider plausible alternative technologies tends to be based upon continuing to deliberately ignore the ways that there would have to be alternative death controls, to back up alternative debt controls. However, since that appears to so obviously be politically impossible, the defaults would NOT be to develop creative alternatives, except that FIRST the established debt slavery continues to drive its numbers to become debt insanities, which then provokes death insanities.

At the present time, the only reasonable expectations are that The Population Bomb will continue to grow bigger and BIGGER, until it explodes, in the sense that overall human population will finally stop growing, which will then becoming the beginning of it shrinking more and more drastically, for quite a while, (and perhaps even going extinct.) That is especially the case due to that the ONLY genuinely alternatives to that would require the development of better death control systems. NONE of the possible technological fixes could work without sufficiently radical revolutions in the philosophy of science in general, which then applied to political science.

At the present time, the ways that we think about the human energy systems are as absurdly backwards as possible. Hence, it is practically impossible to assemble any workable integrated system of alternatives. The lower level alternatives surely exist. Indeed, there appears to be a creative abundance of those possible. However, NONE of those can be sufficiently implemented without changing the human death control systems, and the difficulties with respect to doing that are the real reasons why nothing much is being done that works enough, and nothing more could be done, as long as the actual death controls continue to be most socially successful through the maximum possible deceitfulness, being able to continue to back up debt controls based on the maximum possible ENFORCED FRAUDS.

The audio recording above mentioned the importance of the public "money" supply being made out of nothing as debts. However, the approach of those speakers never gets remotely close to deeper understanding of how and why human civilization necessarily operates through the applications of the principles and methods of organized crime, due to the deceitful death controls, and the increasingly insane human murder systems, being central to everything else, since those must be central to everything else!

This is BS. There is no "we". It's Africa, and, Latin America and that are overpopulated. Population of Venezula 5 Million in 1950, 30 million Today. Africa 200m in 1950, One Billion today.

"We" should be under no obligation to continualy feed countries that make not even the smallest effort to control their population of feed themeselves.

The more people there are the better provided they are rational, productive and free to think, work, produce, and keep what they earn. And the Universe is a really big place.

China was poverty stricken until it began to move toward a market economy. Right now the people there and throughout the world are learning the hard way that socialist policies restrict prosperity.

I graduated from high school in 1959. If someone had said then that we would have men walking on the moon in 10 years, nearly everyone would have thought him crazy. In just the last 20 years computers and the Internet have completely changed my life. The world is a much better place today than it was when Erlich was writing his BS. His view is that of an animal that lives primarily by consuming without producing and of a socialist.

We are rational and have free will. We can choose our future. It can be as good or bad as we choose. We can have the kind of future that one like Ayn Rand envisions or return to primitivism, suffering and death.

It's a choice.

You REALLY don't understand the Universe, Prometheus.  One begins to understand the vengeance of Zeus, if not appreciate it.

Did they not teach you basic mathematics in the School of Eternal Arrogance?  You CANNOT map infinite growth onto a finite sphere.  And if you think you can, you belong with all the other inventors of Perpetual Motion Machines.

I understand where you're coming from.  I am after all only one year older than you, and sopped up the same propaganda in my cradle.  I did, however, learn to go beyond my primitive beginnings.  The song you're singing was popular in 1963, but it's a bit worn out now.

Abortitoriums, HIV, and gay marriage will soon exact more deleterious effects on the growing population bomb.  One obvious answer of neutering all Blacks at birth, both male and female, would probably forestall a problem of over popuation for the next several centuries.......and help to re-institute more civil societies.

Lets do the numbers.

PreShitStorm:

Total pop = 7.5*10E9

0.1%/Elite/Illuminati/Deep State etc = 1% of 7.5*10E9 = 8million.

As shitstorm approaches infighting power struggles etc will reduce this by say 50%

So say illuminati down to 4million.

Add to each of these a personal retinue;

lets say for each illuminati you have a 5 PA's a 15 strong security detail a family of 10 = 30

Therefore the elite + entourage = 300million(A).

Include USX:

this is my definition of likely remnants of Imperial US which will reduce to a core of special forces (say 50,000 figthing force with most of this global pirate army operating from former US overseas bases and heavily supplemented will UAV & UGV care of MIC & Boston Dynamics. And addtionally include a technocratic class of say 1million to service the 3d printers automated molecular manufacturerys churning out Bugatti Veryons etc.

USX+Technorati = 2million (B)

USX will murder/subcontract say half of elites personal security so USX will say reduce figure (A) by say 25%

Therefore (A)+(B) around becomes = 260million

In order to get the post shitstorm pop below the critical 500million there is left a total population of 240million.

Excluding pockets of fat men setting bear traps for each other in Northern Idaho the vast majority of the survivors will somehow have to address an attrition rate of 97%.

Now this can be achieved either through a Mad Max /The Purge type scenario on a global scale or alternatively those people that are actually aware that there is a problem in the first place (about 1% of the population) there are far more civilised ways to survive.

My proposal is therefore for those people who give a shit to form an alliance with the elite who send all the fuckwits packing.

When I was born there were 2 billion people. The idea that, in 35 years when we already have billions of people hungry or micronutrient-malnourished, we are somehow going to have to take care of 2.5 billion more people is a daunting idea.

Wouldn't it have been useful to tell us how many people were actually malnourished when he made that statement. Now with over 6 billion people there may actually be fewer malnourished people than then. Anyone got the numbers?

Further, there is an "obvious" negative feedback system involved here. If it gets to the point that people can't get enough to eat, they die and become fertilizer. The entire poplulation can be reset to zero in less than 100 years. So the Earth is pretty safe regardless of what humans do.

Correction:"Paul Ehrlich released his wind-breaking book The Population Bomb, ..."

Various Malthusian composers of this kind of crap have been blaming excess people for future cataclysms that have not come.  The fact that we need to be more efficient and responsible with the resources God has given us is a separate matter from blaming the incarnation of souls for our current and future woes real and imagined.  Purposeful and accidental Gaia worshipers think Mother Nature is more important than the people who occupy it.  Upsidedownbackwards thinking like that leads to the kind of human-commoditizing horrors that science fiction could only imagine.

People who think they want freedom should avoid this junk, as it leads to the most horrific fascism.

I was under the assumption that the Gulf of Mexico came back and was not ruined. The crude that was spilled there was not like the crude in Alaska by the US Valdez. Different kind of crude. Now that was a disaster. This is why you can't believe or trust the greenies. They seem to never tell the truth or throw out a statement that is at best misleading.

The idea of a "Population Bomb" is B.S. But some really misled, creepy people, including Obama's Science Advisor unfortunately, believe this B.S. Don't believe me--watch this presentation, and read the books it discusses. This sort of thinking--that we have a "population bomb" leads to the elite hatching "clever" plans for soft-kill genocide and Agenda 21, to "cull the useless eaters" (that would be YOU and ME because we are NOT members of the elite). I'm not crazy--they are. Watch this:

Webster Tarpley The Elite's Plan for Global Extermination; Please Circulate

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0UiDfalbpo

Webster Tarpley has been studying the writings of these people--who believe as the author of this "population bomb" does--for decades. ZeroHedge, don't fall for this B.S., please don't publish this sort of anti-human swill again. I was so disappointed to find it on your site.

In the audio interview linked above, Paul Erhlich discusses the issue of feeding enough people, especially the billions of poor people, who are already seriously malnourished. IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THAT PROBLEM IN A MORE PROFOUND WAY DEMANDS PERSPECTIVES UPON POT PROHIBITION. That the cultivation of the single best plant for people was criminalized for decade after decade, on the basis of huge legalized lies, backed by lots of legalized violence, ILLUSTRATES the ways that everything else follows basically the same pattern regarding the production and distribution of food.

Money controls food, which controls people. That money is based upon ENFORCED FRAUDS, and therefore, the food supplies are controlled by ENFORCED FRAUDS. Thus, the deeper problems are due to the ways that backing up lies with violence has WORKED to control civilization for thousands of years, at a roughly exponential rate, due to profound progress in physical science, and its related technology, WITHOUT any matching progress in political science.

The DEEPER PROBLEMS are that any real solutions must be based upon changing the human death control systems, and especially the human murder systems. It is because of those DEEPER PROBLEMS that we have ended up with a civilization controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals, controlling the governments which are the biggest forms of organized crime. Those are the real political problems, and those have no genuine solutions outside of that frame of reference, because there must necessarily be some death control systems. The background political problems have been that the actual human death control systems, with the human murder systems as the most extremely obvious forms of those overall death control systems, were selected to become most successfully successful when done through the best organized crime, i.e., done through the maximum possible deceits and treacheries.

That is the background of The Population Bomb. The changes in the death control systems are practically guaranteed to be done through the maximum possible death insanities, due to the psychotic breakdowns of the established systems of backing up lies with violence, and especially due to the psychotic breakdowns of the monetary systems based upon ENFORCED FRAUDS,  which are controlling everything else through the basic abilities to back up legalized lies with legalized violence. The DEEPER PROBLEMS are that civilization is and must necessarily be controlled through the applications of the principles and methods of organized crime, because the death control systems control everything else. Therefore, PARADOXICALLY, The Population Bomb is due to the ways that the human murder systems were driven by natural selection pressures to develop artificial selection systems whose social success was based upon being able to back up lies with violence, despite that that system never is able to stop those lies still be false, although the violence that backs up those lies keeps those lies being the most socially successful systems, in each short-term increment, regardless of the longer term consequences. (For instance, cannabis was criminalized, despite hemp being the single best plant on the planet for people, for food, fiber, fun and medicine.)

Of course, one can also observe the attitudes of deliberately ignorance towards the death control systems, which then includes proposing bogus "solutions" based on continuing to deliberately ignore how and why there must be death control systems, presented in the political approach promoted by people like Paul Ehrlich and Chris Matheson, as well as generally presented by those mentioned in that interview, The MAHB:

https://mahb.stanford.edu/welcome/the-mahb-mission/

There is now unequivocal evidence that humanity has seriously reduced the ability of the planet to support civilization indefinitely.  The cumulative knowledge from the natural sciences has clearly shown that the global ecosystems upon which humanity depends have been significantly degraded.  Without a fundamental shift in how people perceive and use ecological capital and services, the indefinite continuity of societies around the globe, an unchallenged assumption of past thinking, is now seriously in question.  With this decisive diagnosis of the ill-health of our life-support systems there is the clear need for remedy.

The MAHB’s core commitment is to develop that remedy.  We propose to do so by fostering collaboration among the millions of concerned citizens, organizations and institutions who share our concern and want to see significant changes in policies and social norms. We propose to complement this by growing a global network of natural and social scientists, humanists, and scholars in related fields whose collective knowledge can be harnessed to support global civil society in shifting human cultures and institutions toward sustainable practices and an equitable and satisfying future.

Various groups that are superficially aware of the basic problems tend to not want to engage in deeper levels of analysis regarding how and why civilization actually operates according the the principles and methods of organized crime, and that there are NO genuinely realistic solutions that can actually work outside of that context. THE PROBLEMS WITH FAILURES TO RESOLVE THE RUNAWAY POPULATION BOMB GETTING BIGGER ARE DEEPLY RELATED TO THE POLITICAL PROBLEMS WITH RESPECT TO THE EXISTING DEATH CONTROL SYSTEMS. THOSE PROBLEMS ARE EVEN MORE DEEPLY RELATED TO THE WAYS THAT PEOPLE CARE BARELY THINK ABOUT AND DISCUSS THOSE PROBLEMS IN ANY WAYS WHICH ARE NOT EXTREMELY EUPHEMISTICAL.

Humans are a virus and it is obvious they are going to cause themselves to go extinct, not to mention many other species that they will kill off by eating up more land. But hey, all the people who criticize those who say that can just keep smoking their hopium and think the population gaining more billions will work just fine.

Here is something I want to know...it is obvious that automation is increasing every year requiring less humans to produce things. So how exactly is increasing the population by billions going to make this better?

How about the fact that there are already well over a billion people living in horrible conditions. How is adding more people going to improve that?

The problem is the "oh the world isn't over populated and won't be" idiots are those who live in cushy conditions and have nice jobs and have no concept of the actual world instead of what's just their little bubble of their life. Apparently if you live a comfortable life and can provide for your family then everyone can as well and everyone should keep popping out babies like there's no tomorrow.

I will say bringing up climate change and implying humans are the main cause of changes in the climate is a bunch of bullshit.
