"It May Come To A Military Coup": Ukraine's "Nazis" Threaten To Overthrow Government

Tyler Durden's picture

"It may come to a military coup."

That rather ominous assessment of the political situation in Ukraine comes courtesy of a Right Sector fighter who spoke to FT last week.

Like Saint Mary (the militia which recently pledged to create a "Christian Taliban" and insists that "Moscow must burn"), The Right Sector is one of the many volunteer battalions fighting to rout the Russian-backed separatists operating in eastern Ukraine.

As discussed here on Sunday by Justin Raimondo, "the Right Sector and allied far-rightist militias are the core of [Kiev’s] military operation against the east. Right Sector provided the muscle of the Maidan revolution, standing in the front lines against the widely feared Berkut special forces loyal to Yanukovych. If these thugs must be reined in, then the success of the 'anti-terrorist' campaign is doubtful: yet Kiev is increasingly unwilling to pay the high price of appeasing their increasingly troublesome Praetorians."

To let FT tell it, these "troublesome Praetorians" may be set to overthrow the government in what Right Sector leader Dmytro Yarosh calls a "new phase of the Ukrainian revolution."

The problem, as the battalion leaders see it, is that the revolution simply didn’t usher in much change, and that's primary due to the fact that all of the "patriots" got sidetracked by defending the country from a Kremlin-assisted uprising. "The (Maidan) revolution was interrupted by the aggression (in the east) and the patriots left Maidan and went to the east to protect Ukraine. Only 10 percent of people in positions of power are new; the rest are all the same, pursuing the same schemes they always did," Serhiy Melnychuk, an MP and volunteer battalion founder recently told Reuters

But in some ways, Melnychuk exemplifies why the volunteer militias and their agenda are so dangerous. "The Aidar Battalion has been accused by Amnesty International of committing war crimes [and its leader] member of parliament Serhiy Melnychuk has been stripped of immunity from prosecution and charged with kidnapping, issuing threats, and operating a criminal gang," Raimondo notes.

Among the volunteer contingents, Right Sector stands out and indeed, its fighters are revered by some soldiers in the regular Ukrainian army. Here’s FT:

The troops are members of Right Sector, the far-right group that evolved from among the most militant wing of the protesters who toppled Viktor Yanukovich, the country’s pro-Russian president, in its pro-democracy revolution last year.

But fears are growing that Right Sector — the only major volunteer battalion Kiev has not yet managed to bring under regular army control — could turn its fire on the new government itself.

Dmytro Yarosh, Right Sector’s leader, called late last month for a nationwide no-confidence referendum in President Petro Poroshenko. He was addressing a rally in Kiev of up to 5,000 Right Sector activists, angry over what they say is the government’s slow progress in fighting corruption and excessive concessions to Moscow as it attempts to reach a settlement over eastern Ukraine.

And earlier last month, two people were left dead in a shootout between off-duty Right Sector fighters and police near Ukraine’s previously peaceful western border — 1,500km away from the eastern conflict. The group claimed it was acting to destroy an illicit cross-border cigarette trade. Some observers have suggested Right Sector was actually trying to take it over.

Russian officials and media have long demonised Right Sector as neo-Nazis who, they claim, were the real driving force behind Ukraine’s revolution. Moscow media’s obsession led some Ukrainian officials to suggest privately that Right Sector might have been penetrated by Russian intelligence as a subversive "project" aimed at undermining the government.

Popular support for the group remains low, although a poll found it had risen from 1.8 per cent last October to 5.4 per cent by July.

Yet as Mr Umland notes, the bravery shown in the east Ukraine conflict by the Right Sector battalion has earned it the esteem of many regular soldiers — posing a dilemma for Kiev.

While it's as yet unclear whether the referendum call will garner enough support to further embolden Right Sector as it ponders a military coup, it's certainly worth noting that Ukraine appears to be headed for a similar fate as that which has befallen many a state in the wake of US-supported "deomcratic revolutions." In short, it almost never ends well and on that note, we'll close with the following quote from a Right Sector "instructor" who spoke to FT:

"Having lived in [western] Europe, I realise that they often confuse Nazism with nationalism, which for us Ukrainians is more akin to patriotism. It’s not about considering your own ethnic group as superior, but being proud of it, and of defending your country."

The coup will not happen.  They will be immediately starved of western funds.  How are all the bills going to get paid.  People will take to the streets and hang the right sektor members.  These guys are not that dumb.  They would be completely isolated from the west and the east.

Also dont forget the regular army and all the NATO troops in Ukraine and on the border.  No way NATO will let this prize slip away.  Right Sektor does not have advanced weapons or skill to take on NATO troops.

What they can do is threaten to kill politicians who dont give them what they want.  Threat of selected individual violence is more effective.

Right Sector could eliminate those NATO troops in no time. It is not as if NATO has entire divisions in Ukraine. The other thing is that Right Sector would likely use partisan tactics not open combat. They are on their own turf. I know a lot of shit gets written about them here but these are pretty tough people. They lose in East Ukraine because there they are fighting equally tough opponents and ones who operate on their own home turf and are motivated by what is defended. If Right Sector took on an enemy on their home territory that fight would give them an advantage.

Redefining the word irony.

It's great to be an American.  Everywhere else in the world people have to live serious lives making serious decisions, but here a tough decision is what NFL game to watch during your team's bye week.  And we (as a people) don't worry ourselves that perhaps it's our tin-plated policies that are forcing others to live those serious lives.  No, we don't bother with that.

It IS great to be an American.  But it isn't EASY, living in the Land of Freedom and Liberty©!

Here's what each and every one of you Proud Americans can do AT HOME to defend The Homeland!

1.  DRINK alcohol.  Remember that "if a little is good, a lot is better, and moar is better YET!"
2.  WATCH television.  Remember that "if it's on television, it's sure to be true!"
3.  GIVE generously to your television preacher.  Remember that "America is Jesus' Favorite Country!©"
4.  TAKE your medications as directed.  Remember that "it's for your own good!"
but most importantly....

5.  HAVE FAITH IN THE SYSTEM.  Remember that "They Know Exactly What They Are Doing!"

You MUST do all five simultaneously and continually but then you can sit proudly in your BarcaLounger or LaZyBoy, waving your little American Flag and getting all tingly with Patriotism, and say to yourself "I am defending The Homeland!"

Let the Congregation say "Amen!"

Actually I think communism has more in common with fascism. In both communism and fascism, individual choice or preference matter less than society as a whole. In communism, religion and private property are both abolished, the government controls all labor and wealth, and individual choices such as one's job or education tend to be dictated by the government. While private property is permitted in fascism, most other choices are also controlled to increase the strength of the state.

Not even close. Capitalism is a voluntary exchange of goods and services. Fascism is control of all things. The State will decide how much freedom their is. Fascism allows some market activity unlike Communism, which in it's supreme arrogance seizes all means of production.

Capitalism and any forms of socialism are enemies. However, smarter socialists know they need the power of market activity. In 2015 the world understands the price of unfettered statism.

Fascism simply cuts favors for it's friends in industry. What countries does that sound like, today?

Mon, 08/03/2015 - 20:59 | 6387576 FreedomGuy

Fascism and Communism are cousins. It was National Socialists versus Soviet Socialist. The proper name of the Nazi's was "National Socialist German Workers' Party". Mussolini was one of the top leaders in the Italian Socialist party before moving to the National Fascist party.

The are both "statist" parties where the State is supreme. Here is a good quotation from Mussolini:

"The keystone of the Fascist doctrine is its conception of the State, of its essence, its functions, and its aims. For Fascism the State is absolute, individuals and groups relative."
Communists and fascists would both agree on the supremacy of the State. The both have a single party system with an autocratic ruler at the tope. The State is supreme in both. The State owns and/or controls all people for the collective(ist) good of the people which is the same as the good of the State. It is even directive is interpreting virtue and other moral issues. The only difference between the two is the Communist will actually attempt full state control of industries. The fascist will have some semblance of markets but control all things through regulation, including labor. Private property in the fascist state is a sort of relative term. If the State needed it, it would get it. Economically, most people equate Western government with fascism. The State has the ability to assert full control of any endeavor if it is deemd beneficial to the state or collective population. There are no practical limits. The State, like fascists closely allies with selected and favored private industries as well. It could be Krupps (arms maker) or J.P. Morgan, but the State decides. The two ideologies were usually enemies the same way monarchs were enemies. It is not because their ideologies are very far apart. It is because they are competitors to control the throne/state.

I'm a little tired of the word "Nazi" being thrown around and used as a cudgel to discredit anybody and everybody who is not an fellow traveler, aka authoritarian socialist/fascist like the EU.

'Nazi' is very specific -- 'national socialist workers party', mixing nationalism + socialism/fascism with some race theory mixed in for good measure as a way to demonize the opposition so it's easier to justify killing them. Socialists insidiously justify killing people for the 'greater good' of the collective, like Obamacare does.

tough to know who to root against the hardest in Kiev - the Zioligarchs, the US/NATO puppets, or the bona fide street nazis.

How about the United States just stop fucking around in Ivan's backyard?

In a saner world, the Ukrainians could have had an association agreement with the EU to allow for more trade and movement, while retaining a relationship with Russia.

Putin proposed this as an option, just as he proposed 'talks' to discuss some sort of autonomy for novorussiya within ukraine.... the US/NATO was not interested.

I'm not saying Putin is some saint or anything - but it's been largely Russia that has kept a lid on this thing.

This is squarely the fault and responsibility of the American Deep State - and it is too bad the military and spooks have let the Kagans and Nuland's and Brzenskis hijack our country's power for their needless warmongering fuckery.

Why Russia Shut Down NED Fronts
July 30, 2015

Exclusive: The neocon-flagship Washington Post fired a propaganda broadside at President Putin for shutting down the Russian activities of the National Endowment for Democracy, but left out key facts like NED’s U.S. government funding, its quasi-CIA role, and its plans for regime change in Moscow, writes Robert Parry.

ZH as putin regime propaganda asset is boiling again same soup on this same topic regarding events in Ukraine using same ingredients: Nazis, Fascists, coup, etc.

So again here is my reply to that.

Ukraine was a satellite state for putin regime. That means it suffers great deal of same problems as in Russia under putin regime. The main problem is corruption at all levels and deep in every citizen way of thinking. It’s hard to get out if it is so rooted still from USSR times. So what happened here is that there where corrupt border patrol personal and local police officers who smuggled from Russia illegal weapons, alcohol, drugs, etc. As local authorities responsible from stopping such crime where corrupt (now they are fired from their job) didn’t do nothing – those militia took this situation in their own hands. It’s not how it should be done under normal situation but it was only thing they could do to stop coming those drugs and weapons from Russian side. Than when they turned weapons against local authorities who where corrupt – things went out of hand quickly but in the end they gave up them self and laid down arms. Of course putin regime propaganda made a great deal of this and I see that Zero Hedge as putin regime asset continues to invest in this story to twisted as loony as it can get.

I won’t go down to each of the lie in this article – because it would be like anyone saying to you “You are a donkey” and then you have to invest time to prove it you are not a donkey – that’s just idiotic and was of time.

But when you think about Ukraine than know these facts:

1.) Ukraine had free democratic parliament and presidential elections (far right sector got super small minority seat) – that where recognized as legit from whole world including Russia Federation.

2.) Ukraine government signs deals and their representatives shakes hands with all leaders from other countries in the world – including with putin.

3.) People from east Ukraine that are occupied by pro-Russia putin regime terrorists – can and are traveling both from occupied territories to west Ukraine and back – bringing their pensions, products, relatives etc.

Now, if there where Nazis / Fascists in west Ukraine – none of this would be possible.

This is an information warfare – it’s easy to become a victim. Only thing is you can do is to look at facts you can check your self and do your own conclusions. Look at map of DNR & LNR and ask a question how come such a small territory can sustain war for 2 years. Russia 5 day war in Georgia costs 12,5 billion rubles that’s 2,5 billion RUB for one day.

Both Raimondo and this article skillfully avoid the proverbial elephant in the room:

The widly disproportionate Jewish role in both the coup [Nuland - Pyatt {who spent most of his time as our ambassador meetign with Ukraine's Jewish community - less than .2% of the Ukrainian pop.} and at the UN Feltman

http://www.un.org/sg/management/senstaff_details.asp?smgID=164

To a situation where

- President Petro Poroshenko
- Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk
- Chairman of Parliament Volodymyr Groysm

IN A COUNTRY WHERE 0.1 percent follow Jewish religious practices, and ethnic Jews are certainly under 2% of the population

the president, prime minister, and parliament chair are all of largely Jewish background and sympathies

not onlt that - but so were the 2 other contenders mentioned by Nuland in her phone call - Klitchko and Tymeshenko.

most made substantial efforts to hide their Jewish background, but it seems quite clear for all of them, especially Yats and Grosym.

Add to that IDF soldiers at Maidan and there is a heavy Jewish question here

Which no one will talk about

[of course, someone may now suggest they just "happen" to be Jews - or that the Zios/Bankers/Lizards are merely "using Jews" in some way, and Israel and Zionism and Judaism have fuck all to do with it - and hey, maybe thats true for all I know.

It just surely doesnt seem so.]

There was a time some months ago when I had a nagging feeling that jewish people were trying to retake the Ukraine as their historical ancestral homeland. Genes Suggest European Women at Root of Ashkenazi Family Tree
http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/10/09/science/ashkenazi-origins-may-be-wi...

The Irish - commonly thought of as "Celts" - have significant pre-Celtic DNA, and share a lot with notonly the Scots and Welsh, but the Basque.

The Irish {and some Welsh and Scots} get Tay Sachs - normally thought of as a "Jewish" {Ashkenazi} disease.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052702304458604577488842861558400

This isnt because the Irish had a lot of Jewish gene introduction - the Jews came with [and funded] the Anglo-Normans, and later Cromwell... and always remained a parasitic merchant class.

And it isn't because Jews are simply/mostly "Khazars" - a term for a blend of Turkic and Mongolic peoples hemmed in by Islam and Byzantium.

Its because along the matrilineal line the Ashkenazi, like the Gaels -come from an ancient, pre-Indo European population in europe.

That is - there is some Khazar/Caucus, definitely non-Semitic/Canaanite blood in those red haired fair skinned Hasidim who claim a "birthright" while denying it to the most direct descendents of the people who lived there for eons...

But there's also very old, European genes - the link above is manifestly NOT KHAZAR - but it is European and not-Semitic.

There's a lot of dancing on pinheads in some of those articles. EG:

"The finding should thoroughly debunk one of the most questionable, but still tenacious, hypotheses: that most Ashkenazi Jews can trace their roots to the mysterious Khazar Kingdom that flourished during the ninth century in the region between the Byzantine Empire and the Persian Empire..."

Truth is, the Khazarian Emperor mandated that Judaism was to be the state religion in Khazar. When the Empire imploded, the people migrated all over the place, including Russia, Eastern/Western Europe which explains why there are/were so many jews right across Europe etc. A lot went to Spain and when they were kicked out, went on to the Island of Ireland. In later years, many migrated to the US.

The origin of the Ashkenazi may be determined by which era one takes a snapshot of the DNA. If one goes back far enough, one finds that it originated in Khazar but appears to be European in later periods.

The one thing everybody can agree on is that the majority of jews who claim that Israel is their ancestral homeland are Zionist/Ashkenazi jews who have no more connection with Israel than the goy does. IOW it's a false claim.

The Delicate Genius's picture

well as to the first article and paper

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/10/09/science/ashkenazi-origins-may-be-wi...

the point is that matrilineally, it is not Khazar -which is not European for the purposes of these dna studies.

It's European - but - in fact, its very old European - pre indo european....

Irish {and Basque and a few other small groups} are also - edge of europe, largely pre-indo euro with a Celtic overlay, right

its why I mentioned tay sachs....

they arent getting it because they are "really khazars" - they are matrilineally ancient european.

its the ashkenazi that get tay sachs, not the sephardim {to any significant extent anyway}.

The Khazar hypothesis is, from what I can tell, partly right but overstated. Theres no question the royals converted - but its less clear to what extent the peasants did.

The point is that what you have is a mix. there also middle eastern origin.

But the punchline is that no one is more related to the ancient inhabitants of Canaan than the people who were living their pre-zionism - that includes mizrahi jews, and it includes most of the "Arabs"

like the "Celts" the Palestinian Arabs are not "just Arab" - but pre-Arab with an arab overlay. The Irish speak english but are not majority anglo-saxon dna wise.

The "Arabs" of Libya are heavily Berber/Moor with an Arba overlay.

Anyone claiming ashkenazi jews "are khazars" simply doesnt undertsand the genetic studies done.

Thats part of the explanation - but not all of it - and the matrilineal side is NOT KHAZAR!

I'm not aware of any definitive study and there's a lot of people who interpret the results in different ways to suit their own agendas. I find it difficuilt to believe that the 13th tribe originated from "Europe" (what is Europe?). Their human characteristics alone indicate they originated from the Turkics who migrated to Khazar centuries ago.

"The Khazar hypothesis is, from what I can tell, partly right but overstated. Theres no question the royals converted - but its less clear to what extent the peasants did."

It might be overstated, but doesn't that prove the point about how difficult it is to drill down into the origins and how easy it is for multiple interpretations of evidence? Given that the Khazar Emperor mandated judaism as the state religion at a time when Khazar was riding high on the trade routes probably indicates that the people went along with it.

The Maidan 2.0 already started in Kiev last week.

Interesting development was also that the levy imposed on Poroshenko's candy factories in Russia was dropped just after Ukrainian court dropped charges of illegal landing of Russian airliners in Crimea. Things are happening.

Here is a quote from my yesterday's comment of Ukraine for those who missed it.

Everything in this post is true. The problem is that it is actually worse.

Ukraine as a state does not exist anymore. Right Sector even took over police functions and custom duties on the border with EU.

Ukraine's been de facto divided into districts run by local oligarchs supported by those "famous"  fascist battalions with their tanks, APCs and anti-aircraft missiles including stinger missiles they overthrew legitimate local governments.

Nobody can touch them though Washington insists to disarm them in vain. Poroshenko is just a mayor of Kiev.

Economic chaos, two power plants just ran out of coal, that Kiev will not import from Donbas. Half of NPPs are shut down while Westinghouse is trying to fit their nuclear fuel rods into soviet made reactors in attempt to repeat Chernobyl disaster since it won't work.

It had to happen, but you can hear the gritted teeth..

Ukraine is holding talks with the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic to buy coal, the republic's prime minister Gennadiy Tsypkalov told journalists on Sunday.

The country faces a heating crisis as it lacks the amount of coal needed to last the winter, according to Ukraine's prime minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. The country's energy minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn told Ukrainian television on Saturday that Ukraine would buy coal from "problematic directions." "The thing is that they are today holding talks for purchases. This actually exists. But for now Ukraine is not ready to recognize us as a business partner. We are ready and holding talks on this subject," Tsypkalov said. Tsypkalov did not make clear the nature of the talks.

Shipments from coal-rich Donbass largely ceased as a result of Ukraine's military conflict with independence-seeking local militias. The head of Ukraine's national electric utility Ukrenergo said on Friday that it may begin electricity shut-offs as long as 2.5 hours at a time if the country is unable to maintain adequate coal reserves.

Ukraine refused to continue buying natural gas from Russia in July, instead opting to buy "reverse" flow natural gas from neighboring EU countries at a smaller volume.

Regarding the earlier WSJ BS story about Putin selling out Syria:

Here is a conflicting story:

If Putin really said this to that piece of shit erdogan then I am an even bigger Putin fan.  The Turkish people hate Erdogan.

Russian president to Turkish ambassador: "tell your dictator President he can go to hell along with his ISIS terrorists, I will make Syria a 'Big Stalingrad' for him!"

The ongoing situation in Ukraine is a class act from the Russian perspective.

Every month that goes by some us on here probably look with admiration at the unfolding strategy being deployed by Moscow (I intentionally do not credit Putin) to delay as long as possible any face to face stand-off with the US enabling them to gain strength. The window of opportunity for the US to put one over on Russia is closing fast. Just look at these Russian areas:

- military production has really come on stream in the last 18 months, there are regular deliveries of new, and in many cases updated, missiles, ships, subs, aircraft and vehicles. In addition, serious changes are occuring in the structure of their military, both on the Western and Eastern fronts. The days of a demoralised, ex-USSR, military are long gone along with the heavy conscript army.

- financially they have survived the oil price war and the sanctions. It has hurt and is hurting but the impact is mainly on the public and they, as we know, are solidly behind Putin. They even, together with the Chinese, now have an alternative to SWIFT, which was a real weak spot. As insurance they are still exchanging dollars for gold every month. This is no longer an economy on which the plug can easily be pulled.

- on the oil/gas front they will be facing two ways with new pipes to Germany and China (TurkStream is just to poke Brussels) and a huge LPG plant just contracted in the East.

- politically they have powered ahead, in conjunction with their best mates in Beijing (they thank DC for bringing them closer together), rounding up all kinds of countries into new alliances.

- US financial strength continues to morph towards mirage status (don't mention the French helicopter carriers).

Whilst Ukraine, Syria, even the South China Sea, keep bubbling along demanding attention the strategic goal is slipping away.

Meanwhile, China is heavily involved in the Ukraine fire sale, using some of their huge stockpile of US$ to make huge land deals (building massive amounts of cheap housing, probably with big displacement of local contractors) and buy so much grain (at huge discounts) that Ukraine has overtaken the US as their biggest supplier by volume. Must make the Mid-West voters real happy. Law of Unintended Consequences again.

Kiev will struggle to get enough food, gas or coal this winter and all the West seems able to do is refinance existing loans (the IMF looking after its mates, like in Greece) and utter comforting words. Moscow is just going to sit back and watch Ukraine consume itself. If Kiev decides to use the well worn tactic of having a war to distract the population, any advance will probably go nowhere as a hell-storm hits. When hundreds of shells and/or missiles decend out of the sky it can be difficult to identify what they are or how far they came from, know what I mean.

The Right Sector are well aware of this, so will be well away from the action, waiting to pounce in Kiev.

Vice News used to be good. Their reporting on Ukraine took a turn for the worse after Simon Ostrovsky was allegedly detained and roughed up by one of the DPR militias. That was about the same time that Rupert Murdoch bought a minority stake in the business.

After Vice scored the behind the scenes footage and interviews with ISIS, you knew what the real game was and Vice News was just another zio-propaganda outlet for a younger audience.

Baloney, everything worked out well ... the US flew all of the gold out of the Ukraine the day after the revolution.
