Obama's Climate Fascism Is Another Nail In The Coffin For The U.S. Economy
Submitted by Michael Snyder via The Economic Collapse blog,
Is Barack Obama trying to kill the economy on purpose? On Sunday, we learned that Obama is imposing a nationwide 32 percent carbon dioxide emission reduction from 2005 levels by the year 2030. When it was first proposed last year, Obama’s plan called for a 30 percent reduction, but the final version is even more dramatic. The Obama administration admits that this is going to cost the U.S. economy billions of dollars a year and that electricity rates for many Americans are going to rise substantially. And what Obama is not telling us is that this plan is going to kill what is left of our coal industry and will destroy countless numbers of American jobs. The Republicans in Congress hate this plan, state governments across the country hate this plan, and thousands of business owners hate this plan. But since Barack Obama has decided that this is a good idea, he is imposing it on all of us anyway.
So how can Obama get away with doing this without congressional approval?
Well, he is using the “regulatory power” of the Environmental Protection Agency. Congress is increasingly becoming irrelevant as federal agencies issue thousands of new rules and regulations each and every year. The IRS, for example, issues countless numbers of new rules and regulations each year without every consulting Congress. Government bureaucracy has spun wildly out of control, and most Americans don’t even realize what is happening.
In the last 15 days of 2014 alone, 1,200 new government regulations were published. We are literally being strangled with red tape, and it has gotten worse year after year no matter which political party has been in power.
These new greenhouse gas regulations are terrible. The following is a summary of what Obama is now imposing on the entire country…
Last year, the Obama administration proposed the first greenhouse gas limits on existing power plants in U.S. history, triggering a yearlong review and 4 million public comments to the Environmental Protection Agency. In a video posted to Facebook, Obama said he would announce the final rule at a White House event on Monday, calling it the biggest step the U.S. has ever taken on climate change.
The final version imposes stricter carbon dioxide limits on states than was previously expected: a 32 percent cut by 2030, compared to 2005 levels, senior administration officials said. Obama’s proposed version last year called only for a 30 percent cut.
In America today, the burning of coal produces approximately 40 percent of the electrical power used by Americans each year.
So what is this going to do to our electricity bills?
You guessed it – at this point even the Obama administration is admitting that they are going to go up. The following comes from Fox News…
The Obama administration previously predicted emissions limits will cost up to $8.8 billion annually by 2030, though it says those costs will be far outweighed by health savings from fewer asthma attacks and other benefits. The actual price is unknown until states decide how they’ll reach their targets, but the administration has projected the rule would raise electricity prices about 4.9 percent by 2020 and prompt coal-fired power plants to close.
In the works for years, the power plant rule forms the cornerstone of Obama’s plan to curb U.S. emissions and keep global temperatures from climbing, and its success is pivotal to the legacy Obama hopes to leave on climate change. Never before has the U.S. sought to restrict carbon dioxide from existing power plants.
And we must keep in mind that government projections are always way too optimistic. The real numbers would almost surely turn out to be far, far worse than this.
In addition, these new regulations are going to complete Barack Obama’s goal of destroying our coal industry. In a previous article, I included an excerpt from a recent news article about how some of the largest coal producers in America have just announced that they are declaring bankruptcy…
On Thursday, Bloomberg reported that the biggest American producer of coking coal, Alpha Natural Resources, could file for bankruptcy as soon as Monday.
Competitor Walter Energy filed for bankruptcy earlier this month, and several others have done the same this year.
Barack Obama has actually done something that he promised to do.
He promised to kill the coal industry, and he is well on the way to accomplishing that goal.
Of course Hillary Clinton thinks that this is a splendid idea. She called Obama’s plan “the floor, not the ceiling”, and she is pledging to do even more to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The following comes from the Washington Post…
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton pledged Sunday that if elected she will build on a new White House clean-energy program and defend it against those she called “Republican doubters and defeatists.”
Clinton was the first 2016 candidate to respond to the ambitious plan that President Obama will debut on Monday. Details of the program, which aims to cut greenhouse-gas pollution, were released over the weekend. The new regulation will require every state to reduce emissions from coal-burning power plants.
And you know what?
The climate control freaks will never be satisfied. Since just about all human activity affects the climate in some way, they will eventually demand control over virtually everything that we do in the name of “saving the planet”. That is why I call it “climate fascism” – in the end it is all about control.
During the month of September, the Pope is going to travel to the United Nations to give a major speech to kick off the conference at which the UN’s new sustainable development agenda will be launched. As I have documented previously, this new agenda does not just cover greenhouse gas emissions and the environment. It also addresses areas such as economics, agriculture, education and gender equality. It has been called “Agenda 21 on steroids”, and it is basically a blueprint for governing the entire planet.
Unfortunately, that is ultimately what the elite want.
They want to micromanage the lives of every, man, woman and child on the globe.
They will tell us that unless people everywhere are forced to reduce their “carbon footprints” that climate catastrophe is absolutely certain, but their “solutions” always mean more power and more control in their hands.
Barack Obama promised to fundamentally transform America, and he is doing it in hundreds of different ways. These new greenhouse gas regulations are just one example. Our nation is being gutted like a fish, and most Americans don’t seem to care.
What in the world will it take for this country to finally wake up?

sorry for wanting clean air, seriously ppl will get other jobs not in the 19th century technology of coal....another day another obama bashing article, i dont like the guy either but not everything he does is bad....blame it on bernanke
Yeah, there's always 1st century technology like windmills!
Yeah, too much friction (even from the bearings) for windmills to be cost-effective other than rare places in the USA.
Yeah, Obama IS trying to destroy the USA's economy. It is not clear to me WHY. Must be a "Master's Voice" somewhere I cannot hear...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreams_from_My_Real_Father
Maybe one of his handlers could convince him of bringing back silver and gold Constitutional money.
That took care of Kennedy in a snap.
Just sayin'...
Fuck Obongo and his jew bankster handlers!
That's right. Fuck Obama and fuck Clinton. I know I am on the .gov watch list so fuck them too. It sucks to live under this soft tyranny, I could not imagine how it was in the USSR. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VHIcmoY3_lE
Seems like it is about time to go Galt. Meet everyone at the Gulch?
Ah yes,
Galt's Gulch, a product of the amphetamine fueled delusions of grandeur that was to resurrect the Arian Master Race from graves prepared by that quaint Nuremberg Tribunal.
And, Galt himself; Ayn Rand's rapist hottie Super Man patterned after a proven bloody psychopath who traded a kidnapped daughter with reattached head and sewn open eyes lids to a father who paid good money to get his child back alive.
Yeah, let’s go Galt.
But wait! Galt’s Gulch had been filled in…, by six feet of dirt with Ayn Rand’s corpse at the bottom still yearning for a superman to satiate her amphetamine driven libido. Stimulants, cravings, money, sex, Ayn was way ahead of her time.., as the prototypical crack whore.
"The Republicans in Congress hate this plan, state governments across the country hate this plan, and thousands of business owners hate this plan. But since Barack Obama has decided that this is a good idea, he is imposing it on all of us anyway."
Can't wait for the Republicans in congress to swing into action on this. And in early 2016, I'm sure that President Jeb Bush will rescind this tragedy.
Like the Republicans recinded Oamacare?
None of y'all deniers are scientists, let alone Paleoclimatologists. You are all full of crap. Take a look at the chart of USO v GRN (carbon credits). The age of oil is over. You oil-heads are dinosaurs, just like the ones fosillized in crude. Good luck explaining all your so called "science" to your grandchildren when their coolest winters are hotter than the hottest summer we ever remembered. And you will remember all the "hippies" and environmentalist that were shouting at you over the next couple of decades before the effects of climate change go from obvious and destructive to catastrophic.
We need to more than what the EPA is regulating. We need to keep the carbon in the ground. Idiots like yall are preventing our leaders from making the right agreements to keep global warming below the 2 degrees celscius "tipping point" of even more catasprophe. Wake up sheeple. Learn about science. You can read the abstracts of peer-reviewed scientific papers for free. An abstract is it the summary of the research. Just look up a few. There are thousands that conclude dire consequences from man-made global wariming. There are only a few cooky fringe scientists that disagree and some of them have been shown to be taking money from the oil industry. I mean DUH! Tell it to your greatgrandchildren.
are you making this shit up? paleoclimatologist? wtf? is that like astrology?
Closely related to colonoscopology.
The guy is probably furiously Goggling "windmills" right now, not even realizing he's contributing to the destruction of the planet cranking up the server farms...lol.
Hey, are you really DoChen?
Fact: From Wired magazine.
1 "average" search consumes about the same amount of power as bringing one cup of water to a boil for tea or coffee.
It is NOT insignificant, but who the fuck cares because I can't see it, smell it, hear it ... oh never the fuck mind ........ I gotta find that interview with Catylin about the beauty transgenderism when all she really is is a crossdresser who says she still likes women....
It just comes right out of the wall...its like fairy magic! ;-)
Soooo... you're saying my porn searches alone could've powered the eruption of Mount St. Helens? Damn!...
Let's start a new meme and hope it goes viral: Google's server farms cause global warming!
I wonder if Google can run on windmill power. But won't all those windmills sucking energy out of the atmosphere slow down Earth's rotational velocity or something like that?
Suck the energy out of the atmosphere and reduce the rain storms and then we will all die. I would like to know who is going to make us shareholders whole with this intentional destruction of our property?
You're off by a factor of 72 (72 searches takes the energy of heating a cup of water from 70F to 212F).
.
It takes 0.0003 kwh of energy to do a search according to Google.
Heating 1 liter of water 1 degree C takes 1 kcal
4.277 cups/liter
1 kcal = 0.001163 kwh
From 70 degrees F to 212 degrees F is 78.9 degrees C
Do the math.
I went back over their numbers and found a flaw ;-)
"It takes 0.0003 kwh of energy to do a search >>>according to Google.<<<"
Yeah but have windmills ever done THIS! Omg, solar is murder!
http://ihatealgore.com/test-tonopah-solar-project-ignites-hundreds-birds...
Miffed;-)
A little lemon, a LOT of garlic and you've got yourself an Agenda 21 approved meal.
“US Fish and Wildlife Service officials are now waiting for a death toll for a full year of operation at the Ivanpah plant. The subsequent report may impact plans for future solar power towers in the United States.”
They prolly just scoop em up and dump them in a plastic garbage bag, toss em in a landfill without any thought of the starving cheeeldrun or Cecil the Lion (Sigh)... ;-)
How goes the recovery?
Gotta be DoChen, writing style fits..
Yeah, I seen Cosmo say something about it last week so I was curious.
I googled goggling.
Limiting the discussion to whether or not Obama is trying to destroy the USA's economy is far too narrowly focused. Obama and fiends are trying - with far too much success and far too little opposition - to destroy the entire USA as a functioning country. He didn't start it, as the battle against the main bastion of Western Civilization (and yes, Reformed Christianity) has been gathering momentum for over 100 years. Obama is but the latest in a line of activists aiming at this. The difference now is they (TPTB?) don't even bother to hide their contempt for the citizens of the country any longer. Indeed, they flout the law boldly and flaunt their immunity, as witnessed by players as diverse as the Clintons, Corzine, Reid, et al.
Total war is what it is. The USA has to fail before one-world government is feasible.
Your electric bill might go up a bit, therefore someone is trying to genocide you. Comedy gold.
Insulate your home and buy a few LED bulbs. You bills WILL GO DOWN.
Some bastard coal CEO is crying because his $10 million bonus is in doubt. Boo fucking hoo. Hang the bastard and reduce CO2 even more.
Polluting is another form of socialism, so ZH readers should be against it. When you pollute you are forcing your costs on to everyone else. Of course the Koch cock suckers are unhappy. They've grown rich by forcing their costs ON TO YOU.
We need shorter term limits badly. It took 6 years and being a lame duck for the kenyon to do this, because the rich fucks you fund him would never approve. One term for prez and each gov job. No pressur to be re-elected and they can do good.
This with Obamacare should put the brakes on the economy. Obamacare premiums are up 32% with no increase in goods and services.
The economic price of these lemming GW initiatives will be very expensive, as well.
Let's face it, the Left hates humanity.
Slaves did a great job building the Pyramids.
We've moved on to building our own demise.
You didn't build that.
windmills in the 1st century did not create electricity, does anyone actually bother to form an actual argument than resorting to "facism", "obola", etc.....my main point is that addressing climate change in a reasonable way is best for the long term public health, there's absolutely no reason for coal industry to exist with the amount of alternative energy available....also to the other comment about US coal usage "Coal’s share of American electricity fell from 49 percent in 2007 to 39 percent in 2013", eventually 0 when we modernize, countries like China are ramping up coal production and look what it leads to, smog filled cities where you need a mask to walk around
Unless of course we have to pay for it, or the wind stops blowing and it gets dark or cloudy. The thing that brought about our industrial revolution was electricity on demand, turning night into day. We can never be dependent upon predominantly wind and solar as they are not dependable sources and every place that tries to do so must still retain coal, gas or nuclear energy as a backup, a backup that takes days to ramp up, a back up that must be maintained and those costs layered on top of even more expensive alternatives. But of course we can just bury the costs into the taxpayer's bill and who would be the wiser?
We know what the real alternative is, the one they really want and that is negative growth, the reversal of our quality of life. Smaller homes, less air conditioning and heat, mass transit and a general downsizing of everything in America. If we can't afford fuel or electricity, we will be forced to reduce usage. We see the oil industry being gutted by a collapse in prices. Once those sources are wiped out, there will be shortages that will not easily be met. Coal gone as well with no alternative but to reduce consumption. Obama has stated clearly his agenda. Push costs for energy as high as possible to FORCE reductions in consumption. And once we are all living in little ticky tacky boxes stacked five high and subsidized by government, we will have no other choice.
Obama says we can no longer afford freedom, we must be forced, driven to their agenda...all for our own good.
Well done, Oldwood. Go one step further. Because wind and solar are so unpredictible you have to build, man and maintain two power grids. Let's even suppose major success with wind and solar. You still need to pay and entire infrasture of fossil fuel power workers for the many days the other two systems will break down or be insufficient. Their systems also require huge storage abilities and you cannot dial up just the right power amounts. So, you need enormous vast arrays of very dirty and energy inefficient batters.
I can go on but the model of inefficiency is the hybrid car. You now have two engines, not one in a car. The electric engine is still completely dependent upon the power generating characteristics of the combustion engine. You could dump the electric engine, save the weight and materials and just use the combustion engine. However, if you only look at one number, MPG and do not look at anything else you can claim success. As long as no ugly smoke comes out the tailpipe, twit enviro's claim success.
We waste most of our energy resources because they are too cheap. This is econ 101, so I'd expect ZHers to understand. Part of the reason they are too cheap is we socialize the waste disposal. It blows out a smoke stack or dumps into a waterway and becomes someone else's cost.
If you don't like higher bills, insulate your house. You'll see drastically LOWER BILLS. We need higher energy bills to change behavior from waste to common sense. I have nothing but contempt for the legions of greedy assholes who drive gas guzzlers or leave lights on day and night. Time to grow up and be an adult.
You really need to do your own research on "climate change". There was much more climate variation before civilizations could light a fire. 40 years ago we needed to clean the air and we did, we are now in overkill or should I say nation kill.
Son, at this point, the country is done, we just have not hit the Wille E. Coyote moment yet. You know, where we look down and realise we are running on air.
Coal has allways been used as a source of heat. Throw in a bit of air, it heats iron, plus it imparts carbon into the iron, which produces steel. Steel makes sharp, pointy objects. Sharp pointy objects make humans leak.
Get it?
I have nothing against you, but stay away from my carbon.
Solid snake you cannot hold a candle to Flak, where are you Flak, I need an explanation for 17 years of no warming and the manipulation ohh the manipulation of the data...
SS, Gosh I wish I could sentence you to the world your intellect truly deserves a cold, dirty nasty brutish world.
its all good until the EPA shuts YOUR stuff down right?
"I'm sorry those solar panels are going to have to come down. This isn't about 'green energy.' It's about corporate fascism and you paying for it. Sorry suckers."
the big squeeze to poverty. i mean really. evey fucking thing the gov touches cost the majority big percentages of disposable income. some are already locked into poverty with virtually no hope. i mean back to dirt poor hand to mouth existence.
the irony of the democratic party for the "little" guy. fucking joke. oh, and the repucks strongly oppose, fuck yea, i believe that.
and don't even get me going on healthcare.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
"i dont like the guy either but not everything he does is bad"
Going along with TPTB's plan to irradicate the middle class IS BAD.
I'm starting to understand alcohol and drug abuse..
You can help by going to your electric breaker box and pulling the main breaker. Don't know how environmentally friendly your candles will be but maybe you can convince us that life in your world is superior to those who remain plugged in.
Here's a good laugh from my friends in Seattle. The city is allowing homeless people to camp on public property near a wealthier neighborhood. The NIMBYs are out in full force even though it's a commercial area, not residential. So those uber liberals are only liberal until it affects them. Comedy gold.
Same with you energy NIMBYs. You're too lazy and stupid to think of conserving, so you cry cry cry about rate increases that haven't happened yet. No sympathy here. You can insulate you home and buy LED lights, then watch your rates drop off a cliff. You can rent an SUV/truck the one day a year you actually need to haul something. The smaller car you drive every day would save you a couple grand a year easily.
Maybe you need to talk to the 50% of American people on public assistance about the bountiful not 19th century jobs in this country.
19th century - like picking cotton by hand? What are you a doctor of, womeon's studies. What a fuck tard, zero IQ. End of discussion.
Don't worry, your monthly electric bill increase to $400 will be offset by all your savings on Obamacare you dolt.
LOL
You have american jobs building and maintaining coal plants. Instead, you want government subsidies paid to the chinese for wind and solar.
Wind kills birds and is an eyesore say the tree hugers
solar isnt practical on a large scale.
NEITHER ARE ECONOMICALLY VIABLE WITHOUT GOVERNMENT INVOLVEMENT.
Can you provide a rounded estimate? Renewables are the way to go. This is the technology developed since WW2 that has never gotten to grow because cheaper fossil fuels at the expanse of environment (let's say just SO2 if GHG is too much). Once these technologies were established their growth was minimal in large thanks to developed oil interests. If BP invests a few billions in a new project, they actually expect it to produce more billions. The entire network built around fossils is gigantic which reduces its cost, but has to change now while enough cheap oil is available. I would even call it one of the greatest misallocations of resources ever at the least since WW2. Solar, wind, waves, geothermal can all work and be quite a bit cheaper if a massive industry is built behind them that reduces the prices of running. These will require less and less energy to produce a higher and higher output over time unlike the fossils. One last note - 300 000 km2 (size of Arizona) of crappy solar panels (cheapest now, much better are available) in a moderate zone would be able to power the entire world last year. Than add hydro and nuclear, disperse the 300 000 km2 to each highway in USA and you got the best and cleanest source of energy and quite a bit of jobs with it.
Sorry, but when large tracts of public land are closed for wind farms , I have a problem. What, NIMBY? I am all for using what we have in a better way, but when I have to move a dead elk out 30 miles, do I want a wind powered prius, or a petrol pickup?
So rather than actually allowing supply and demand to work, where increasing shortages of carbon based fuels actually incentivised alternate energy forms, we instead create false shortages by taxing or directly eliminating existing energy sources. Especially special given our decrepid economy and exacerbated punishment of low wage, no wage workers, one must wonder about their timing. Why not just mandate that no auto gets better than three miles to the gallon? That would sure as hell limit our driving. And unless you have worlds biggest battery or we simply go to bed a dark, solar will leave us in the dark. People are not all that stupid. We have had lots of energy crisis and many opportunities to develop and market alternatives and even with oil over $100/barrel it still didn't happen on any scale that did not have massive taxpayer subsidies.
So we simply will FORCE everyone to pay whatever our enlightened leaders demand. No one will EVER be held to account for the damage done when the whole thing turns up to be a fraud...of course that will NEVER be proven....what sane person would say such a thing? This is the beauty of the thing. It cannot be proven or disproven. No matter what happens they will claim it worked better than expected or failed because they did too little too late. Meanwhile they will try to destroy any person stupid enough to speak out against the fraud.
We are all praying for the survival of that poor polar bear on the melting ice flow. Whatever DID happen to all those dire predictions of ten and fifteen years ago. Rising oceans, devastating hurricanes, mass famine? Like Dan Rather told us about Bush, the facts presented were all lies and forgeries, but that does not diminish the truth. Just because global alarmists have repeatedly lied about almost everything doesn't mean it's not true. As a now famous politician once said, sometimes you just have to lie?
Sorry, fail.
Energy production WAS NEVER CAPITALISM. You should already know about the subsidies and cheap credit. Few consider that the waste disposal has always been socialized -- meaning the pollution blows out a smoke stack or is dumped in a waterway to become everyone else's problem/cost.
Yes, it's high fucking time we raise the cost so modern alternatives get a chance. Too fucking bad if your coal mining job went kaput. You can thank a liberal for saving your health.
Perhaps no one explained to you what is obvious to most people. Solar only works while the sun is shining and wind power works only when the wind is blowing. Which means that both forms of power generation operate only a minority of the time and they are both unpredictable.
Wind is more unpredictable than solar, since we can say with absolute certainty solar will produce electricity only during daylight hours. Consequently wind is often producing power at those times of the day (early morning hours) when demand is least.
Unless you are prepared to have random blackouts for extended periods, solar and wind have to be backed up by ondemand capacity, i.e. either hydro, nuclear or thermal fired stations. In other words you have to pay to have that capacity sitting there ready to go, so you duplicate capital and many operational costs.
It does not matter how massive your "renewable energy" industry is, or how cheap it can make wind turbines and solar panels, you are still stuck with the uncertainty of supply problem.
In fact it is worse than that. Even when wind is blowing or the sun is shining, it still fluctuates (you know, clouds, wind levels rise and fall) and that puts stress on the grid because other sources have to be instantaneously adding or reducing the amount of power they supply to the grid in order to match demand. And those fluctuations actually damage the distribution equipment within the grid (the costs, incidentally, being borne by someone other than the wind/solar power operator, though ultimately it all comes back to the consumer). The larger the proportion of power from solar or wind, the worse this problem becomes. So the more solar/wind output the more massive blackouts.
You and Obama will be so chuffed.
Putting on my Swami nmewn turban and peering into the future, ya know it's gonna really suck for the yankees and Canucks on those cold, overcast, windless days & nights (weeks really) in the dead of winter. Too bad .gov made it "a crime" to have a fireplace in the house, "regulated" it right out of existence for new homes, fining the builder and/or threatening him with his license always works.
Fucking Forward!...lmao!
Thank you captain obvious for telling us the sun doesn't always shine. My god, why did you populate the earth with fuck tards?
I know it would never occur to your pea-sized brain, but a network of power plants can fill in gaps, while renewables replaces a good portion (not all) of daily use. That's right, Einstein -- while the sun is down you aren't using much.
If you think carbon dioxide is "unclean", you'd better stop breathing instead of polluting the world, since the concentration of CO2 in what you exhale is 100 times higher than in what you inhale, you bloody polluter.
100 year old technology
RealTime-HYDROGEN: —True Hydrogen Conversion:
United Nuclear Scientific kits in development to convert existing vehicles to run on Hydrogen instead of Gasoline. These are not bogus ‘add-on’ mileage boosters (which are complete scams).
This is a true Hydrogen Conversion System which eliminates using Gasoline entirely.
The Hydrogen Generator (about the size of a dishwasher) is installed in the garage and is powered by a solar array on the roof, or a wind turbine to provide power to produce Hydrogen gas from water at near zero cost.
The car is plugged into the generator overnight and refills the on-board tanks. Hydrogen is safely stored in a high capacity solid (Metal Hydride) material which cannot explode or burn in the event of a crash. The Hydrogen is chemically locked in this material and is not stored as a dangerously flammable gas or a liquid as other experimental Hydrogen conversions do. Range is in the area of 300 to 400 miles…

Look, we can all appreciate what you are saying here, but we are really not looking to a solution. What we are looking for is an opportunity, even if we must manufacture a crisis to create one. Just as we saw with healthcare reform, there was a claim of imminant crisis that only the power and scope of big government could solve. So now we DO have a healthcare crisis THANKS to Obamacare, which is creating infinitely more opportunities. We can expect something equally disastrous coming from this debacle. Look back when climatologists were predicting an ice age (one we likely will see with the coming solar minimum) and how they wanted to disperse carbon black on ice fields to absorb solar heat to stave off the next ice age. These people are nuts and they are nuts with power. We have idiots for leaders that want nothing more than power who will sign onto any scientific theory if it directs more power into their hands.
It's not a crisis, but for 50 FUCKING YEARS we've been grousing about being dependent on maniac muslims for our primary energy source. How many times a day do ZH readers belly ache about wars in the middle east, or about being screwed by the oil MIC?
I'm sorry if your electric bill might go up, but it's about god dammed time renewables get a chance to succeed. The only way that happens is if conventional energy gets AND STAYS more expensive. That way long term investments become predictable.
You've seen how the saudi's have lowered prices to bankrupt our fracking industry. The've done the same to renewables, again and again. Playing us like a cat with a toy.
Awww, forget it. You are hopeless. Stupid young people grow up into stupid old people.
As a now former renewables scientist, one thing I like to point out is that global warming, while a real problem, is not the worst environmental issue facing us today.
Two much bigger and immediate threats are the replacement of ecosystems with monocultures, and nitrogen pollution leading to hypoxic zones in the oceans. These are disrupting a very subtle and powerful equilibrium that, once broken, will kick off what I would compare to the Book of Revelation, i.e. 1/3 of all fish in the ocean dying, seas turning to 'blood' (red tide) and so on. Colony collapse disorder is another manifestation.
But these get no press and no legislation. Why?
Because most of the N pollution comes from ag states, who are making money from ag subsidies.
Because most of the dead ecosystem is due to widespread use of agrochemicals that permit nothing but corn to live.
Because 40% of the corn grown in 'the first state of the nation' goes to ethanol and no politician will question it. or the 10% that goes to HFCS... IOW half of corn grown at minimum is not necessary. Alothough, I wouldn't care if a farmer made ethanol for his own tractor (and for a few friends!)
Imagine the environmental impact if we gave up ethanol, quit subsidizing GM, quit paying farmers to till under crops, etc.? If large sections of farmland could be released for other pusposes?
"Is Barack Obama trying to kill the economy on purpose?"
Stawks are up! Bin Hidens dead! GM's alive! If I had a son he would look like Cecil!
From his dad's dreams book, we learn that the Masai tribesmen he visited long ago had to kill a lion to become men...
Oh. Guess #LionsLivesMatter now.
Spoiler Alert: We will pay more for energy and the power companies will rake in more money to provide less power.
yes but sometimes good things like clean air/water cost money and are not FREE or CHEAP, would you rather inhale pollution and die early or live longer and pay a little more?
I don't think you understand TPTB's master plan. They don't want you to have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. They want it all.
We already are increasing the amount of natural gas in use. We already are increasing the amount of green energy. This is not about clearn air, or a reduction of polution.
See, if we could just print money and give it to our cronies as a subsidy, so they can give some of it back to us in the form of campaign donations it would be a Win-Win!
The air I breath is already clean you stupid son of a bitch
You just don't get it. No one here is advocating dirty air and water. We watch China shit their nest and certainly don't advocate our country follow this path. I even had the personal foresight to have my well thousands of feet away from my septic system.
What we dislike it the fascistic implementation of policies couched in "Saving the Planet" propaganda based on shaky scientific analysis. What we see is a grab for power not a true desire to clean up anything. Sorry, but the skepticism is deserved.
Miffed
Miffed, please girl quit arguing with totalitarians... Gets you nowhere and the fascist likes it.. In the immortal words of Ann Barnhardt; you don't have enough ammo....
Ok, you caught me! ;-) this is what I've become as a post surgical bedridden woman. Tilting windmills for entertainment.
Actually I miss Flak. Her data sources were good but she came to conclusions improperly applying them. Conclusions based on way too many assumptions and packaged up as legitimate.
I've promised myself to catch up on some heavy reading soon when my meds are decreased, trying to focus to no avail at this point. I pity those who must take them daily for chronic pain. How do they deal with the brain fog?
Miffed;-)
Miffed, sorry to hear you are layed up. As for reading material, might I suggest "The Bowyers Bible" vol. 1? I know that you are scientifically minded, and an out doors type human.
Mr would love this book. When I first met him he had build with no outside help his own bow from local wood ( I think it was one of his wood shop projects). I could barely pull it back and he alluded to the fact I should have to do as the Amazon women did to use it effectively! ;-) He loved archery so, I guess that was his way to fully appreciate it.
Funny, when he went into computers, he made his own computer from scratch to run his little Z scale set. I hated that thing! Invariably I would step on some memory chip using the bathroom at night! I named it Porcupine. He had me terrified of the large capacitor. Probably to keep me away from it.
Miffed;-)
The anthropogenic global warming issue is a leftist wet dream. It is the ultimate power grab without responsibility.
You can do anything, ANYTHINGi, in the name of saving the planet. This can be all the way up to eliminating people for the good of the planet.
There is no definitive way of proving or disproving warming until a hundred years from now. If the earth is warming naturally, you can still blame mankind. If the earth stops warming you claim success. Short of a new sudden onset ice age, you cannot be thoroughly refuted.
Even if your ideas do not work you can do the standard leftist play: All government failures are due to lack of funds and control. You double down on the (bad) bet.
To the leftist, there is nothing in life that cannot be solved with higher taxes, more rules and a million new fully funded, full noncontributory pensioned bureaucrats.
The key question to ask a lefty-enviro is "Okay, tell me exactly what temperature we will get for ten trillion, 50 trillion or a hundred trillion dollars." Since you know how to control the earth's temperature from your secret government thermostat, let's choose what temperature we want. After all, it is a single variable problem, right?"
Then ask them if three new U.N. agencies will get a better temperature than say, just one. Will one million bureaucrats give us a better climate than two million? Does a tax rate of 100% guarantee the same temperature for all of history?
Lol beautifully stated
Yup. Obamacare was so successful that he's gotten the bribes and is going to do it again with energy. Let's call it Obenergy
You have to read the classified documents to know how badly you are about to get fucked with higher energy prices.
What difference does it make?
Obamassfuck
No No No. Aidedded and Abetted by Fox News/Zio News. Suckers.
I believe the site you're looking for is called the Huffington post.
I hope Obamacare covers at least half of that burn!
Is Barack Obama trying to kill the economy on purpose?
Duh?!
"The Republicans in Congress hate this plan, state governments across the country hate this plan, and thousands of business owners hate this plan. But since Barack Obama has decided that this is a good idea, he is imposing it on all of us anyway."
The Republicans will repeal like they appealled Obamacare! Oh wait, they discovered healthcare companies like their higher profits, nevermind.
Fuck-N-A.
He shoots, he scores!...plus one gallon of 99 cent gas ;-)
Promise us the world and deliver this rubbish.
Coal provides 39% of US electricity needs. That's a huge amount of production that he thinks he can convert to what? The devil is in the details and a large portion of that replacement would be NUCLEAR. Not so good for babies and puppy dogs huh?
I hear TEPCO could use the contracts to provide us with nuclear waste for the next hundred years.
I have heard very little from the Obama Administration for these nearly seven years that shows any competency in science. Or even the economy.
They're all lawyers & academics I guess.
We already got "soft" rationing with PG&E out here abouts. They call and ask to cut usage between say 2 and 8 pm, etc. Just charge more to big consumers at at peak period, FFS.
But Oh Fucking No, gotta have a Nanny State Managed Economy.
How's that workin' out down there abouts Venezuela way, fellas?
The Obama/Maduro plan: Population reduction is key to energy conservation.
Their ideal plan is for us to kill ourselves. Much more efficient than coming up with some killer virus and such. Just keep fucking us and blaming one side or the other until we are in the streets killing each other. It looks to be working perfectly.
Actually, I've read that burning coal puts a greater amount of radioactive substances in the air than does a nuke plant. As many others have pointed out on ZH previously, changing from U-235 to Thorium/U-233 would make safer power plants.
I encourage you to take up farming in Fukushima prefecture.
We need to start by taking as much dogma out back and shoot it in the head as we can. Dbl tap.
Fuck Obama, Fuck the EPA, Fuck Hillary and fuck these climate alarmist cunts. I would love to punch one of the faggots in the face.
No one could have ever dreamt just 20 years ago that the greatest threat to the American way of life would one day come from a sitting US president.
No one could have evert dreamt just 20 years ago that the greatest threat to the American way of life would one day be an electorate too stupid to realize they are electing people from a two party system to continually fuck us over. /Fixed.
It would not surprise my father born in 1919, if he were still alive. He saw it in the great depression and WWII and ever after. He was shocked that it was all still standing when he died. I thought him a crank with a seventh grade education, who worked and saved and owed no one.
Time does illuminate.
Sounds like a great man.
we have reached the tipping point where the people just vote for free shit. THis will somehow get packaged with energy subsidies for the poor, and its through. THe repubs wont stop it.
The corpse is in the coffin, at this point what's another nail?
I SUPPORT the efforts to clean up the environment. I haven't looked at the details of Obama's proposal, but I'm good with his goals. It's an essential at this stage, it's not a "nice to have". We have GOT to switch to sustainable technologies on the planet.
THE USA is missing the boat. We need to "get out front" with new techologies that improve environmental quality WHILE producing energy. We need some revolutionary thinking. We need to become leaders in Clean Technology, and then we'd have a sector of the economy that's competitive for the future!!
It is a choice between sunset industries vs. sunrise industries. I will invest in renewable energy and look forward. I don't give a shit about climate deniers because the science seems good. You only have to visit a few glaciers in the Rockies and Alaska and see it for yourself. Even if the climate science is wrong (which I doubt it is), oil and gas are finite, they are not long term investments today, imho. 20 years ago fossil fule was still a good investment but today solar power and wind power generation are now profitable. Most important, the pope can kiss my ass, and agenda 21'ers.... what can you say. Yes we live in a corptocracy inverted fascist/police state with the NSA hoovering every bit, f'them the horse they rode in on. bye bye coal, enjoy the hydro carbon twilight, I am looking forward to the sunrise.
Please send us letters from Utopia.
my mom called it the "funny farm"
"I SUPPORT the efforts to clean up the environment. It's an essential at this stage, it's not a "nice to have"."
Damn right. Who among you wants this shit?

What part of fundamentally changing America do people not understand? Of course he's trying to destroy the eCONomy. He made a promise and he's keeping it.
Moccacho told us this back in 2007, and nobody listened.
Who is mocccacho? All I know is that I was yelling it from the rooftops on this site and basically was told by many how crazy I was for calling him a Marxist con man. Who's your daddy now?
Climate fascim! Or ... wait here's a thought ... or maybe the climate really is changing and your motherfucking economy is just toast no matter what you think! But you know what it doesn't even matter. You can think anything you want now, nobody cares. Voice in the wilderness now, fucker. It's on. It's go'n down. The bitch is squared up against mankind and we are going down in the first round, KO. Just KO and you can kiss your candy capitalist gold-bricking Citizen-United corporatist-welfare sorry ass goodbye!
Forever is gonna eat you alive. She if she don't.
The most important thing is to impose ever higher costs on those who can least afford it at a time when we face a nearly apocalyptic economic upheaval. At a time when China is destroying their ecology, we are going to make dramatic sacrifices to our economy and our quality of life...just in case.
Our government has zero credibility in economic or environmental sciences and it apparent above all other things that their primary motivations all revolve around control, and the elimination of freedom and anything that would smell of individual choice.
Who cares. US has become country of homos and parasites.
Speak for yourself. Yell it loud so your gay friends hear you!
"Congress is increasingly becoming irrelevant as federal agencies issue thousands of new rules and regulations each and every year. The IRS, for example, issues countless numbers of new rules and regulations each year..."
This may be a relatively new phenomena in the US under Obola (and maybe under GW Bush) but the British .gov has been doing this same thing for decades and especially since HRH Tony Blair was on the throne.
Most important legislation in the UK is "framework" legislation where only the bare bones of the law get discussed & approved by parliament. The new law provides for the detailed rules/regulations applicable to the new law to be drafted and implemented after parliament has approved it.
But as we know, "the devil is in the detail" and this is where the draconian aspects of the new law become known, by which time it's too late to stop it. And whenever any incumbent .gov or agency of the state wants to change the rules, well, they just do it.
Ahem, that's how it goes in many other places too. Where I live Congress passes a "law project" through both houses, but the law isn't active until the "regulatory" (I don't remember if that's the correct term) part (the fine print, the real rules) are redacted. That's just modern legislative work. And there are certain checks and balances against writing something completely different from the original project.
"And there are certain checks and balances against writing something completely different from the original project."
Yes, it is called a lawsuit and even if the government loses the case, they simply ignore the judgement and dare them to sue again. There are no restraints on our bureaucracy unless the president chooses to restrain it. They do his bidding or nothing at all. 90% of all government employees are liberal or at least support the growth of government jobs, and as such will do nothing to restrain it, even if passed into law.
I dare you to contest ANYTHING a bureaucrat places upon your back.Exactly who will you complain to? Who will hear your protests and act in other other way than to silence or punish you?
Well, there are in principle constitutional claims that can be levied on the regulation of the law. I know there are some other judicial provisions in that case, but hell, 'ts been over 10 years since I studied that.
And listen, I'm here referring to the "should be" (or how legislative processes are regulated by law) , and it all depends on the level of institution strength on each country, state, municipality, etc... I care little about ideological claims of the grandiose magnitude, as they're generally nothing more than sentimentalities. And law is reason without passion, for starters. And second, if you approach politics through sentimentalities you're gonna get carried by the nose.
Yes, what you say doesn't surprise me one jot.
There are rare examples in the UK of regulations being challenged and they end up in the courts. On one occasion an immigration regulation ended up in the Supreme Court because the British Home Office appealed and appealed an initial ruling that the regs were unlawful. The Home Office lost. The huge legal costs all borne by taxpayers of course.
The only safeguard in the UK is a legal challenge, there are no other checks and balances except during the initial drafting.
I hope Obama and Co. put every American into FEMA camps and gas them to death.
Thats the problem with you little foreign dickweeds, you're too scared to try & do it yourself, like the little ObamaBots running around here.
I would drink a Margarita out of your skull before nightfall ;-)
CO2 is shown to follow global temp curves, not lead them. [see ice-core evidence].
This is all mis-direction. CO2 is not the enemy ffs.
Insanity that he said we are the 1st gen to experience climate change when humans have lived through at least one ice age, and warm period....and this planet cycles in millions of yrs through all stages, [even once being ice-bound], as do all planets in all galaxies - all planets have 'climate change'.
Wtf ? ..everyone believes CO2 is more important than toxic gasses/radiation pollution/mining & fracking contaminants/deforestation/etc? the list of 'more important than CO2' is a big one.
I call bullshit to this whole scam.
Absolutely. Using CO2 as a monitoring marker has been unpleasant for the AGW crowd so they have stooped to fudge their numbers in recent years. There are many factors in play, few within our control.

As a person whose job it was for five years to analyze ice cores, just a point of clarification.
The trouble is that the resolution of the core data is inadequate to the task. It's an active debate among the community which comes first. Basically, all the cores can really tell us is that the CO2 and temperature records are closely related. Your point of view is possible - i.e. temperature leads CO2 - but I don't believe the evidence is any more overwhelming to your side than to the CO2 leads temperature side.
That said, I agree with the basic point you are making that the "science" being used to force radical societal change down our throats is nothing more than a thin cover provided to sell what they are doing. Having a detailed knowledge of what the data do and do not say, the portrayal of manmade climate change overstates what scientifically is a far more debatable case than has been presented (and equally important, funded from a research standpoint) by the borg. Public knowledge of climate change is pathetically oversimplified (thank you Al Gore!!!) and is simply another aspect of the story peddled each day on MSM to make people behave as our lords want us to.
What's especially sad is that so much money and effort has now been spent on a questionable hypothesis when there are plenty of easily proven harms being committed daily to our environment which could be addressed. But imagine! Those would actually get in the way of our overlords raping the wealth of our planet. Can't have that! This one is much more useful in their march to - correctly labeled - fascism.
agreed ; +1 sofapapa & miffed.
Obola went wrong in his sermon when he aligned himself with the climate change faithful brigade who blame it all on mankind. Exactly the same as the British socialist Labour Party.
Many people accept that some climate change is happening but are far from being convinced that it's caused by mankind. The likes of Obola should recognise this. Planning to deal with it's consequences is the way forward not going off half-cock as he is.
All the bitching and moaning about global warming and climate change is just cover for the real agenda, which is controlling and eventually strangling most of mankind. Obola did not align himself with the "climate change global brigade"; rather, it is just one of the tactics employed by him and his puppet nasters.
"Obola did not align himself with the "climate change global brigade" "
I'm surprised you say that. His comments in the first few minutes did exactly that. And all the climatologists and "weather experts" in the audience clapped him. These are people who believe that climate change is being caused by mankind, not by mother nature.
Dreams of my father. Says it all.
Dreams of a multi-party system with at least one not controlled by the fuckers controlling everything. I can dream, can't I?
"What in the world will it take for this country to finally wake up?"
A lot more than you are offering Mr Snyder.
I noted on phone bill that the Federal tax was almost 100% of the service charged by the phone company!!! How on earth can that be so I dutifully called the phone company and the INDIAN "customer service" sic said everything was in order. His name was "Mike". Must be a common name in Bangalore.
The female serpent took ZUCKERBERG money, lots of it and stabbed her White voting base in the back. Just as Sen Gillibrand of NY who represented upstate won with her support of the 2nd Amendment. Well Chuck THE SCHMUCK Schumer offered her the Senate seat if she would STAB her constituents and America in the back and she LEAPED at the opportunity. We have NO FRIENDS.
No Congressional GOP Leaders Will Support Reducing Immigration
Mr Snyder do you see anyone doing ANYTHING or even SAYING anything about this? I don't see YOU saying anything about it either and this is just one example:
Murder, in Black and White

We have to face realities, not Liberal pipe-dreams...We have to face the fact that the world is a bloody battleground, not a children's playground; and that our enemies are devils, not angels. A war is being waged, a war to the death, and it is being waged against us -- not against anybody else, but against us!
WHITE MAN, THINK AGAIN! by Anthony Jacob, Johannesburg 1965
Sorry. I've been to many countries and lived and worked. I'm not afraid.
Not a matter of fear. It is a matter of awareness.....and a willingness to respond to threat. Hesitation is the biggest killer.
We're awake. We just don't have nuclear weapons.
Prometheus stole fire from the known gods. Barack returns that fire to the his gods. Morons believe carbon dioxide, the basic substance of all life, is poison.
Tha basic equation of plant life is
carbon dioxide + water + sunlight = carbohydrates + oxygen.
The basic equation for animated life, animals, is carbohydrates + oxygen = animation + carbon dioxide + growth.
Morons want to diminish carbon dioxide, or all plant and animal life. Prometheus and life destroyed
Why is everybody so mad? Allowing all of our necessities of survival to become centralized and controlled by a foreign banking puppet government is obviously in all of our best interest.
In between screwing little kids and mass murder these people have learned a great deal about the value of things and know exactly how much and who should be able to use what products at what price. They're qualified by there lengthy experience, duh...moneychangers. Stop getting in the way of people trying to save the world, it's getting really hot. Go outside and look around it is really hot today and it stormed somewhere.
That was sarcasm right?
I mean the bit about saving the world, and getting hotter.
8.8 billion : 320 million people is 27 dollar per person per year by 2030.
That will destroy the economy? jobs? think again, it just means that companies will shift to new methods to provide cleaner energy.
$27/year? How much did your healthcare costs go down after Obamacare? Why are you trusting Obama again?
"8.8 billion : 320 million people is 27 dollar per person per year by 2030.
That will destroy the economy?"
A large percentage of the population doesn't have 400 dollars for a major car repair. Where are they supposed to get another 27 dollars from?
LOL, just turning off lights when you leave the room saves more than that. People waste a great deal.
Those so-called poor people all have late model SUVs, big screen TVs, expensive cable packages and apple products. They'll do fine.
Cleaner like Fukushima?
I suspect it's all no more complicated than Obama sacrificing the U.S. coal industry to China just as Clinton gave away our space and rocket technology to China. In the end both will have been rewarded handsomely.
Well... that and getting even with western civilization.
if, as the author says "That is why I call it “climate fascism”"
Then I guess mercury emissions (among other harmful ones) from coal, plus mountains blown apart, is what he would call Democratic Republic...
Oh the BS, ZH, the BS is so strong nowadays here...
Plus 1, the world is very Gray not black and white.
A Strategic Plan would layout each of the different sources of electric power, list the liabilities, civil case issues, hazardous waste issue, federal & state subsidies (few jobs by the way in utilities), the background of past legislation and management as utilities, problem and issues in the past, issues going forward, interest groups involved, power players, conflicts of interest, how the courts handled issues, and on and on.
But we never get to see the process or the analysis.
All we get is speeches from Politicians... and in the last 20 years you get Executive Orders.
All we get is a cover up, just like the run up to the Iraqi War, and just like the cover up and bailout of the 2008 Financial Crisis/Multiple Sector Fraud/Securitize your Grandmother Banking.
All we get are distractions from the facts that they changed the US Economic Model, the Trade Model, the Value US Workers & Middle Class Consumer Model, and the we want our people to have pensions and retirement security model.
All we get is some Nazi Take over through Banking, Finance and Lobbying using our US Corporations and Foundations and PACs.
Don't Piss on the Middle Class and tell me it's Raining!
OK ya wanker. First build the excess generation capacity and then retire coal. But no. The idea is to totally fuck up coal power production, create a crisis and then some big corps make a windfall profit while building insufficient alternatives.
It is normal application of power.
Sometimes I pull my head out the dark place and starting thinking about Institutions of Power, Rome, Catholic Church, Monarchies and King Makers, Mayor de Palace, Lobbyist, PACs, Interest Groups, and how Royalty now operates behind the scene, Banks have Front Men, Big Money Has Front Men and Foundations and personal assistants/consultants to do their bidding without ties, links, and knowledge.
In the USA we have Merged Corporations into our Spy Agencies and Military(hidden power).
Coal Industry just doesn't have power at this time. But like a King or Queen they might find allies and acquire power... after all it is the Oil and Gas Industry with all the power today.
Hell it takes like 15 years to build a Nuke Reactor, they have a set life time, and estimates are what $20-$40 Billion Dollars?
But we have to subsidize the clean up of Nuke Waste. And each Nuke Plant is at risk after 20 years, and we are running them for 40-50 years now... while the concrete dissolves in like 20-30 years.
I have no idea how Nuke Industry still has power... oh yes, it is GE that has the power along with the others Dominion, Duke, I don't know. Funny think Propaganda has disguised the fact that many Nuke Reactors are build on Fault Lines/earthquake zones but no ones cares and no ones wants the waste.
Hm... Clearly it is about power. Only Power. Capitalism is about Power too, clearly.
