Washington's "Fifth Columns" Inside Russia And China

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Paul Craig Roberts,

It took two decades for Russia and China to understand that “pro-democracy” and “human rights” organizations operating within their countries were subversive organizations funded by the US Department of State and a collection of private American foundations organized by Washington. The real purpose of these non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is to advance Washington’s hegemony by destabilizing the two countries capable of resisting US hegemony.

Washington’s Fifth Columns pulled off “color revolutions” in former Russian provinces, such as Georgia, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin and Ukraine, a Russian province for centuries.

When Putin was last elected, Washington was able to use its Fifth Columns to pour thousands of protesters into the streets of Russia claiming that Putin had “stolen the election.” This American propaganda had no effect on Russia, where the citizen back their president by 89%. The other 11% consists almost entirely of Russians who believe Putin is too soft toward the West’s aggression. This minority supports Putin as well. They only want him to be tougher. The actual percentage of the population that Washington has been able to turn into treasonous agents is only 2-3 percent of the population. These traitors are the “Westerners,” the “Atlantic integrationists,” who are willing for their country to be an American vassal state in exchange for money. Paid to them, of course.

But Washington’s ability to put its Fifth Columns into the streets of Moscow had an effect on insouciant Americans and Europeans. Many Westerners today believe that Putin stole his election and is intent on using his office to rebuild the Soviet Empire and to crush the West. Not that crushing the West would be a difficult thing to do. The West has pretty much already crushed itself.

China, obsessed with becoming rich, has been an easy mark for Washington. The Rockefeller Foundation is supporting pro-American Chinese professors in the universities. US corporations operating in China create superfluous “boards” to which the relatives of the ruling political class are appointed and paid high “directors’s fees.” This compromises the loyalty of the Chinese ruling class.

Hoping to have compromised the Chinese ruling class with money, Washington then launched its Hong Kong NGOs in protests, hoping that the protests would spread into China and that the ruling class, bought with American money, would be slow to see the danger.

Russia and China finally caught on. It is amazing that the governments of the two countries that Washington regards as “threats” were so tolerant of foreign-financed NGOs for so long. The Russian and Chinese toleration of Washington’s Fifth Columns must have greatly encouraged the American neoconservatives, thus pushing the world closer to conflict.

But as they say, all good things come to an end.

The Saker reports that China finally has acted to protect itself from Washington’s subversion: http://www.vineyardsaker.co.nz/2015/07/30/chinas-ngo-law-countering-western-soft-power-and-subversion-by-eric-draitser/

Russia, also, has acted in her defense: http://www.globalresearch.ca/kicked-out-of-russia-moscow-challenges-washingtons-orwellian-national-endowment-for-democracy/5466082

Also: http://www.globalresearch.ca/why-russia-shut-down-national-endowment-for-democracy-ned-fronts/5466119

We Americans need to be humble, not arrogant. We need to acknowledge that American living standards, except for the favored One Percent, are in long-term decline and have been for two decades. If life on earth is to continue, Americans need to understand that it is not Russia and China, any more than it was Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi, Assad, Yemen, Pakistan, and Somalia, that are threats to the US. The threat to the US resides entirely in the crazed neoconservative ideology of Washington’s hegemony over the world and over the American people.

This arrogant goal commits the US and its vassal states to nuclear war.

If Americans were to wake up, would they be able to do anything about their out-of-control-government? Are Europeans, having experienced the devastating results of World War I and World War II, capable of understanding that the incredible damage done to Europe in those wars is minuscule compared to the damage from nuclear war?

If the EU were an intelligent and independent government, the EU would absolutely forbid any member country from hosting a US anti-ballistic missile or any other military base anywhere close to Russia’s borders.

The Eastern European lobby groups in Washington want revenge on the Soviet Union, an entity that is no longer with us. The hatred transmits to Russia. Russia has done nothing except to have failed to read the Wolfowitz Doctrine and to realize that Washington intends to rule the world, which requires prevailing over Russia and China.

Obama is an American Gorbachev. They both are POS. The oligarchy that put them both in power intended for some changes to enrich themselves. However, the oligarchy is always arrogant and always miscalculates the consequences of their "progressive" changes.

Obama promised us "Change and Hope". Unfortunately, he has delivered only Change and killed any Hope we might have!

Nudelman's bungling of the Ukraine file gave Moscow and Beijing the perfect excuse to eliminate the 5th column CIA controlled NGO's  Seeing the economic black hole created by the  USSA state department Ukie coup, the usual corrupt comprador elites in Russia and China want no part of this.  It is well known that with the exception of Porkyschenko, every other Oligarch in the Ukraine lost huge amounts of wealth via currency depreciation, expropriation and other forms of asset impairments.

Without a criminal capitalist class covertly backing color revolutions, the process is doomed to fail, hence China and Russia's ability to put paid to NED and other CIA fronts.

On a final note, as a reward for gross incompetence, arrogance and indirect murder of tens of thousands,  Nudelman will be appointed the next secretary of state.

I can't help but think of the "Paulistinians" (Neocon term for Ron Paul people) who were actively pointing out how a tiny neocon minority was playing the majority for fools. This was 2012-2014 when they took over the Iowa GOP. AJ Spiker was the one leading it. Once the word just started to get around that the Christians were waking up to the US-caused slaughter of their Middle Eastern brethren (Egyptian Copts for example), GOP National couldn't move hard enough or fast enough to get him out of power, or to get the Liberty conservatives out of the state house.

IOW, without the 90+% of Americans blaming each other and foreigners, the tree of liberty would be pretty well watered, indeed.

I think PCR is one of the more cogent thinkers of our time, but he fails to call out clearly the fact that "Washington hegemony" has nothing to do with Washington, DC, and everything to do with the oligarchs, bankers, etc who have no national borders or loyalty.   Yes, they use DC and its power, but it has little to do with America as a country.  And it would be useful to mention Isreal and its role in the analysis as well.

Most folks do not realize how terribly close to the edge we have come.

I lost a friendship awhile back with a fellow... bright, successful... all because I raised this subject. That, and I happened to mention that when a society openly embraces homosexuality it is a sure sign of impending doom. Turns out his daughter was a lesbian... according to my daughters. The fact is I have no feelings regarding what folks do in their own homes... well, within reason... I would object if they were burying bodies in the basement for example.

But the point is, and this gentleman is not alone. People have come to believe they can make the world whatever they want it to be. This is always the case when a society is on the verge of self destructing.

The big difference this time... and this time is different in many ways... is that we will take the rest of the world with us...

Homosexuality is the contemporary, obvious sin. However, there is no shortage of non-obvious sins.

I've been giving this some thought in terms of "If I wanted to build a museum of the Decline, where would I start?"

On marriage, it would most likely start with the idea of putting on a good face even as there's trouble at home. For a while I was mentored by a leader of the anti-marriage movement (which I later left), but he explained to me his #1 motivation was his brother's divorce. I know of a few LGBTs who did not have great home lives, even though their parents put on great smiles. No-fault divorce and 'free love' were heralded as solutions, and this was the State's foot in the door to redefine marriage as it sees fit. Taking away all fatherly authority by incentivizing children to cry abuse (when I was a kid my friends threatened to call DFACS on their parents to avoid spankings) was another step. Each redefinition since is just a doubling down on the same wrong response to the real problem.

Fundamentally, the single basic problem is that man is not God, but instead of accepting this, he tries to become a god. IOW, the power to get one's way all the time, no exceptions. CS Lewis accurately predicted the impossibility of such an outcome, and that in reality, an elite would get to 'play god' while the masses were helpless against their whims. In the 21st century we have gone backwards ~4,000 years to the Pharaoah god-kings.

Anyway, until it finally collapses, the next wedge issue is non-sexual third genders. If you have young kids, before they graduate high school they will be instructed to start using 'zir' or 'xer' instead of him or her. Even basic language will come under attack and be a yardstick for allegiance. It's almost like they see kids as carnival balloons and want to see what shapes they can be twisted into.

I don't think I'm a homophobe.  I got mixed up in a gay wedding and wound up the maid of honor for a former employee.  All in good fun, I don't care what consenting adults do to each other.

BUT, that attitude, as I examine it, is the reason we've launched our decline.  I DON'T CARE.

Decent peole got rubbed and chaffed over the last thirty years and it got to the point that I DON"T CARE.

Porn invaded our lives on the internet, and is rapidly gaining acceptance on television, and I DON"T CARE.

The Pope is a communist, pedophilia apologist...and I DON"T CARE.

Our government devolved into a putrid mix of oligarchs and psychopaths, and while I care, I DON'T CARE enough to do anything about it.

I learned that our money system is a complete fraud and I DON'T CARE.  I just try to offset it, instead of insisting on it being fixed.

I know that banks are the supreme thieves of the ages, and I DON'T CARE...I minimize my exposure to them.

Millions of americans are homeless and destitute, and I DON'T CARE.  Though I will always feed anyone in front of me that is hungry and make donations to local charities.  But I'm not going out of my way to fix their condition.

We have national elections and I look at the psychopathic assholes involved and I DON'T CARE.

I've watched as schools have dumbed down our kids to mindless drones and, other than my grandson, I DON'T CARE.

For 56+ years I've watched and listened as politicians lied to me and I DON'T CARE enough to eliminate them.

I've had the NSA and FBI on my front porch for making statements like the one above and I DON'T CARE,

I think I know the problem.  We need to elect a Libertarian.

The internationalist/global elite may be more united as a class (particularly in their basic political and economic beliefs)  than PCR sometimes seems to recognize.

However, he does appear to recognize the economic underpinnings of their alliances and ostensible servility. As with any group, not all within the global oligarchy have equal power or influence. In particular, many local oligarchs only hold their status dependent on economic/military support from the empire (NATO,IMF, etc.).

Thanks to Hollywood and American TV programming, the average Chinese middle class member believes the US is the most benevolent country with its glorified concepts,  such as freedom,  democracy,  and shop-till-you-drop consumerism, and above all the most democratic corruption-free national government in the world.  In China anyone who dares to argue otherwise is considered a financial underachiever in America. Victor999 - I agree but beyond individuals the monetary model needs to evolve.

It is annoying to be labeled a Putin lover as an American if like Paul Roberts I agree we as a nation have overstepped our bounds into Russia's backyard. I think we missed a historic opportunity with Russia. Of course, nations will compete for energy resources and sales of such so I don't wan to act like its a complete black or white issue but it seems our nation didn't learn much from the Soviets. We are now behaving newrly as badly.

I think Russia is attempting to meet the world half way but foreign policy here is pushing it into an all or nothing proposition. Based on Russia's cultural history, our politicians had best learn a healthier fear and respect.

PCR is right to be highly concerned about nuclear war. He isn't some political hack, he as part of the Reagan administration is very familiar with Russia. This all said I reiterate it doesnt mean we are not patriotic or 'Putin' lovers. I do have to admit his restraint and performance based on the cards dealt is respectable. I thought it disrespectful when our media put down the facilities of the Sochi Olympics. Some things in striving for better channing of our competitive nature should stay sacred.

"What is it?" I replied.

He responds with, "nothing is safe anymore. What's happened to the world?"

I was absolutely gobsmacked. I was amazed by his words but at the same time saddened that this child will probably inherit a world almost not worth inheriting.

The truth is that not just America but the whole world is more or less in decline and this makes it harder to actually notice the true rate of decline wherever you are.

The future is hard to predict because there are obviously competing agendas that are vying for supremacy and to top it all off, all agendas might be made redundant by a single miscalculation or accident that then unleashes Armageddon.

Western house-of-cards economies vs rising Eastern powerhouses (they still have potent financial/economic options and resources in spite of also having distinct vulnerabilities). Paul Craig Roberts: "If the EU were an intelligent and independent government, the EU would absolutely forbid any member country from hosting a US anti-ballistic missile or any other military base anywhere close to Russia’s borders."

intelligent government? sounds like a good idea that someone ought to try, sometimes

an independent EU government? first, I don't even want the EU commission to become a true government. second, it should never be independent from the sovereign members, but always a servantof them

the EU is still an economic alliance, with a regulatory org on top. period

don't ask for a superstate. I'm sick of non-europeans either asking for a superstate, like Paul Craig Roberts, here, or presuming that a superstate is already in place, like many commenters, here

we do not need a superstate. and we do not need a military union. (as much as we don't need a fiscal union, or a common debt) don't tie the question of the remaining American bases on that, because there is no need for that

thanks, but no thanks. I vastly prefer the member sovereigns to stay sovereign, even if we vastly differ on the definition of sovereign, across the pond. and so the question of US bases has to stay a national question, to be answered by each nation on it's own

the last thing we need is an EU that forbids members to do what they think is necessary in the matter of national defense, and that includes foreign bases or not

yes, somewhat true. but this has in part it's roots in history, and the fact that the Soviet Union was a harsh hegemon, and partly because there is so much lobbying going on in Washington

we want to trade with Russia, we want to trade with China

the US MIC wants to sell more, as well as the Russian and the Chinese. it's trade, too, but a bit sterile, imho. and way out of proportion, which then leads to "extreme marketing measures"

It would be nice if Europe could create a Federation of soverign states different than any that has been before, but history shows us that once a central organizing body is in place, that eventually it will draw more power and control to itself at the expense of it's members states autonomy.

It seems to be an immutable law of human nature to consolidate power to exert control much the same as gravity defines and limits our physical world.

The intent may be an altruistic desire for cooperation and order, but eventually, any system of checks and balances of executive overreach will be minimized in favor of 'efficiency'.

The 225 year history of the US shows us that the States powers have become subsumed under Federal laws by direct force and the more current method of 'granting' or witholding tax dollars collected back to the States to insure Federal mandates are followed.

Tue, 08/04/2015 - 10:30 | 6389201 Ghordius

shovelhead, it would also be nice if the current model for federalization as applied in the US and UK would not be taken as the only existing one

in fact, it starts with words. federalization means actually decentralization, in most european cases, most of the time

further, there is the difference in history. a king is not the same thing as an emperor, for example, and empire does not necessarily mean centralization

the turning point for the US was 1913, with the constitutional amendment that diminuished the power of the state legislatures by stripping their senate seats from them

all the rest followed suit (though you could still just repeal that amendment, you know?)

in the case of Europe, I see the armed forces as the key national "point". which means national taxes and national debt. those three are actually one

Chinese students studying in the US are the future seed for a "fifth column."

Following the Boxer Rebellion (1899), heavy reparation were imposed on the Qing Dynasty by the Europeans.

The defeated Qing Empire were to pay the 8 nations, under the exchange rates at the time, US$ 335 million gold dollars or £67 million. The U.S. share was 7.32%.

The US used its share to set up scholarships for Chinese students. This was called the Boxer Indemnity Scholarship Program that provided for Chinese students to study in the U.S.

It has been called "the most important scheme for educating Chinese students in America and arguably the most consequential and successful in the entire foreign-study movement of twentieth century China."

With three hundred thousand Chinese students currently studying in the US, the US is again using the "foreign-study movement" as foreign policy.

and another scheme was

not really returning to the Chinese treasury and Chinese taxpayer the money that was stolen from them by the Eight Nation Gonifs. The Boxer Protocol was signed in September 1901. And as you point out:

450 million taels of fine silver (~US$333 million or£67 million at the exchange rates of the time) were to be paid as indemnity over a course of 39 years to the eight nations involved.[3]

The Chinese paid the indemnity in gold on a rising scale with a 4% interest charge until the debt was amortized on December 31, 1940. After 39 years, the amount was almost 1 billion taels (precisely 982,238,150),[3] or ~1,180,000,000 troy ounces (37,000 tonnes) @ 1.2 ozt/tael.

But what , my friend, does that mean in today's dollars?

If a 2015 dollar is only worth a penny of a 1913 dollar and a few mills less than that of a 1901 dollar, how much did the Eight Nations rip China off for?

Many Pu Pu Platters

And the Eight Nations intended to keep sucking money from the Chinese for 39 years or 1940, the year Karma crawled up their butts.

Then there were the generous remittances of the Eight Nations

In the aftermath of the Boxer Rebellion, American Secretary of State John Hay suggested that the US $30 million plus Boxer indemnity paid to the United States was excessive. After several negotiations, President Theodore Roosevelt obtained congressional approval in 1909 to reduce the Qing Dynasty indemnity payment by US$10.8 million, on the condition that the said fund was to be used as scholarship for Chinese students to study in the United States.

In 1925, 24 after the great rip off began, Great Britain completed arrangements to use its share of the Boxer Indemnity to support railway construction in China. France asked that its indemnity be used to reopen a defunct Sino-French Bank. Italy signed an agreement  to spend its share on the construction of steel bridges. The Netherlands' share paid for harbor and land reclamation and the Belgian funds were to be spent on railway material in Belgium. Japan's indemnity was transferred to develop aviation in China under Japanese oversight[21]

Neocon is a clinical mental disorder i.e. suicidal tendencies by proxy of millions ordinary people.

CIA mostly operate by recruiting young students on US scholarships or by using so-called Returning Expats (REXs) often born in US of foreign parents that are being sent as a controllers of US capital invested in given country to be infiltrated. Those people are talking like natives, walking like natives but in fact they have allegiance to CIA only with no cultural or emotional connection to the country they operate in.

Many governments all over the world, Europe, Asia etc., are pack by those CIA REX operatives that have multiple passports often in top political and economic or banking positions betraying their nations.

So French politicians are not French in a sense of French national identity and independent interests. British politicians are not British in a sense of British national identity and independent interests. German politicians are not German in a sense of German national identity and independent interests etc., they all serve extremely radical ideology of globalism, that would not hesitate to sacrifice billions for their sick utopia.

US citizens elect to feed their extorting of the weak, farming of the poor scheme. This is how you get elected and re elected in a US citizen nation.

This explains the re election of US citizen Cameron and US citizen Merkel.

That is what US citizens do. That is the way of their manners.

But what? US citizenism is what has led the world where it is. And admitting this for US citizens would be self indiction, a big problem in US citizenism.

Hard for them to admit anything self indicting. Much better to mediate to reality through fantasy.

Stooge, you let him off easy. He's not American. He doesn't want you to say the 'z' word. Yes all these places are basicly run as Ametican colonies but who runs America?

"Germany are US citizen nation"

What do you mean by that? That there are no Germans in Germany - majority are US citizens?

"US citizen Merkel"

Merkel has US citizenship?

That doesn't correspond to reality.  The whole text is complete rubbish from the start that doesn't have anything common with world we are living in.

Hey, made me laugh.

US citizenship? Where is that? I speak about US citizenism, what US citizens call unproperly 'americanism'.

It has nothing to do with US citizenship or the US nationality. One could be born in the US, possess US citizenship and not be a US 'american' in the way they have not adopted US 'americanism'/citizenism.

You can hold US citizenship and not a proponent of US citizenism.

Feel relieved though, no matter your nationality, your state of mind is definitively of US citizenism.

newsoutlet, TheFourthStooge.. is just still celebrating some remembrance of a famous trollish chinese (?) commentator on ZH that repeated ad nauseam things like:

"US citizenship? Where is that? I speak about US citizenism, what US citizens call unproperly 'americanism'."

imho he was calling a consumeristic lifestyle "us citizenism". I forgot his nick, though

Stooge,

Well done. After all this time, you still have the An Anonymous touch. Almost makes me miss the roadside shitter.
