Israeli Military Brass - And American Jews - Support Iran Deal

George Washington's picture

Haaretz reports that an impressive list of top Israeli military brass support the deal with Iran. These military leaders wrote a letter to Netanyahu urging him to support the Iran deal.

Because it’s hard to read names jammed together without any organization, here’s a list of some of the military bigwigs (all now retired) who signed the letter:

  • Shlomo Gaza, Chief of Intelligence, Major General
  • Carmi Gillon, Director of Israel Security Agency
  • Ami Ayalon, Vice Admiral, Director of Israel Security Agency
  • Itamar Yaar, Colonel Deputy Israeli National Security Council
  • Arie Pellman, Israeli Security Agency official
  • Amiram Levin, deputy of the Mossad director, Major General
  • Itzhak Barzilay, Mossad official
  • Nathan Sharony, Major General, head of planning for the armed forces

Numerous admirals and generals signed the letter as well:

  • David Ben Bashat, Vice Admiral
  • Micha Ram, Vice Admiral
  • Alex Tal, Vice Admiral
  • Amira Dotan, Brigadier General, member of Parliament
  • Uzi Eilam, Brigadier General, Director of Israel’s Atomic Energy Commission
  • Aviezer Yaari, Major General
  • Giora Romm, Major General
  • Moshe Lichtman, Major General
  • Amram Mitzna, Major General, member of Parliament
  • Abraham Almog, Brigadier General, Medal of Courage
  • Asher Levy, Brigadier General
  • Yossi Gonen, Brigadier General
  • Giora Inbar, Brigadier General
  • Arie Keren, Brigadier General
  • Yoram Cohen, Brigadier General
  • Shlomo Egozy. Brigadier General
  • Yosef Eyal, Brigadier General
  • Asaf Agmon, Brigadier General
  • Uriel Agmon, Brigadier General
  • Yoram Agmon, Brigadier General
  • Amos Amir Brigadier General
  • Mordechai ‘Motke’ Ben Porat, Brigadier General
  • Shaul Gavoli, Police Major Geneneral, LDF Brigadier General
  • Ilan Paz, Brigadier General
  • Yitzhak Rabin, Brigadier General
  • Giora Ram (Furman), PhD, Brigadier General
  • Yaron Ram, Brigadier General
  • Gilad Ramot, Brigadier General
  • Gilad Raz, Brigadier General
  • lftach Spector, Brigadier General
  • Benny Taran , Brigadier General
  • Aharon Vardi, Brigadier General
  • Shlomo Waxe. Brigadier General
  • Izak Zamir, Brigadier General
  • Gadi Zohar, Brigadier General
  • Amnon Reshef, General
  • Ran Ronen, General
  • Danny Rothschild, General

In addition, numerous top Israeli military brass have previously come out in favor of the Iran deal, including:

  • Efraim Halevy, Mossad Director; former head of National Security Council
  • Shlomo Ben-Ami, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Internal Security
  • Shlomo Brom, brigadier general; former director of IDF strategic planning division; former deputy national security advisor
  • Uzi Arad, national security advisor
  • Dov Tamari, military intelligence chief; former head of special operations
  • Chuck Freilich, deputy national security advisor
  • Yitzhak Ben-Yisrael, Chair of Israel’s space agency; former IDF general
  • Uzi Even, lead scientist at Israel’s Dimona nuclear reactor
  • Eran Etzion, Deputy Head of the Israeli National Security Council; former Head of Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Israel Ziv, major general
  • Eli Levite, deputy director general of Israel’s atomic energy commission

Polls show that American Jews overwhelmingly support the deal with Iran.

For example, the Christian Science Monitor noted last November:

84 percent of American Jews would favor either strongly or somewhat a deal with Iran that would alleviate tough sanctions on the Iranian economy in exchange for Iran’s agreement to limit its nuclear program to civilian purposes and accept inspectors at its nuclear facilities.

The pro-Israel group J Street noted in June:

American Jews express strong support for a final agreement with Iran that increases inspections in exchange for economic sanctions relief. Fifty-nine percent say they would support such a deal, compared to 53 percent of American adults in an April CNN poll that asked the same question.

J Street reported last month:

A new national survey of 1,000 American Jews, conducted by GBA Strategies for J Street, finds that a large majority of Jews support the agreement recently reached between the United States, world powers, and Iran. The 20-point margin (60 percent to 40 percent) in favor of the agreement is consistent with the 18-point margin found in the LA Jewish Journal’s survey released last week, as well as the 18-point margin in J Street’s survey conducted prior to the agreement. Multiple surveys have shown with resounding clarity that American Jews firmly back the agreement, and now want Congress to approve it.

***

Given the massive campaigns against the agreement that has been launched by AIPAC and the Republican Jewish Coalition, it is very clear that these high profile campaigns do not reflect the views of the majority of American Jews.

***

Seventy percent [of American Jews] would support US engagement even if it meant stating US disagreements with both the Israelis and Arabs and 69 percent would support the US pressuring both parties to make the compromises.

And see this, this, this, this, this, this and this.

The head of the CIA also supports the deal.

Everyone - including the Iranian public - knows that the Mullahs of Iran are complete A$$H@les.

So why would Israeli military brass and American Jews support a deal with Iran?  Perhaps because:

  • Contrary to widespread claims, there is that Iran is building a nuclear weapon.  Even that Iran has not decided to build a nuclear bomb (If you've heard otherwise, HERE'S WHY)
  • that Iran poses very little threat to the West or Israel . Top American and Israeli military and intelligence officials say that – even if Iran did build a nuclear bomb – it would not be that dangerous, because Israel and America have so many more nukes. And see this
  • The people pushing for war against Iran are the same people who pushed for war against Iraq, and said it would be a “cakewalk”. See this and this
  • They've been pushing for another round of regime change in Iran for decades
  • The CIA admits that the U.S. overthrew the moderate, suit-and-tie-wearing, Democratically-elected prime minister of Iran in 1953. He was overthrown because he had nationalized Iran’s oil, which had previously been controlled by BP and other Western oil companies. As part of that action, the CIA admits that it hired Iranians to pose as Communists and stage bombings in Iran in order to turn the country against its prime minister
  • If the U.S. hadn’t overthrown the moderate Iranian government, the fundamentalist Mullahs would have never taken over. (Moreover, the U.S. has had a large hand in strengthening radical Islam in the Middle East by supporting radicals to fight the Soviets and others)

Here's MORE PROOF OF RELIGIOUS PROPHECY COMING TRUE, since we're on the subject. And HERE'S ANOTHER, while we're at is. AND ANOTHER. We could go on all day doing this... man, the evidence just keeps piling up and piling up.

One might wonder why any religious person would need proof to validate his or her founding life philosophy, since faith should be all that's ever needed (Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.") In what could one possibly be faithful if "evidence" is there for all to see? I have faith that gravity exists... how come no one will debate me on that one?

At any rate, for millennia the various divergent and conflicting biblical and quranic canons have been cherrypicked and mistranslated for narrative preference and political convenience, and all so-called "prophecies" are absurdly reliant on vagueness to make possible all manner of inference and interpretation in any day and age. It's ridiculous, and only the thoroughly subdued and psychologically conquered could possibly be satisfied with such juvenile nonsense.

How can you support that which you have no details?  See what the problem is?  We believe logic and reason comes from our moral values mixed with emotional bias.

It dose not matter what Haaretz writes. They are Leftest Erev Rav ready to flee Israel at the sign of any trouble. They don't have to deal with the daily terror attacks in Jerusalem on the Tram, the daily fire bombings attacks on cars, and the fireworks attacks at night. Jerusalem is the best place to live in the world and I would not move anywhere else. You just have to adjust to the situation and have Emuna(Faith) that Hashem (God) is running the world and will protect Israel.

How about the internet, eh champ?

Jerusalem post, INN (arutz sheva) and Ynet are israeli media sources with english versions. Are you aware every time an arab smashes someone's windshield, on a road, with a rock, it does not automatically makes it to the US but still gets published in israeli media?

George George George.  I hope this is not what you consider "reasoned analysis". There isn't one piece of information that has any import in your treatise.

The question is: Do you want Iran to have The Bomb or not? If the answer is No then the "treaty" is a meaningless bunch of scribbles on paper.  It does nothing but fool the ignorant.

A Uranium bomb is extraordinary simple to make. The only challenge is getting the U235. After that a reasonably clever high school student could design and build one. Getting the U235 is mostly time consuming.  That step is also not terribly difficult. It does get "difficult" if you are in a hurry or you want to build many in a short time. If you have say 5 years for one bomb you could do it in your basement.

Which brings us to the point. It is easy to hide a small U235 enrichment facility. It is going to consume some electricity but other than that there is not much to "detect".  Oh yes, what is all that "dirt" you are dragging into and out of your basement? Nothing. I'm growing mushrooms down there.

The "Agreement" is there to sucker people who worship rainbows. It will do absolutely nothing to slow down anybody from building U-Bombs. Not to mention, the people involved in the negotiations have absolutely no knowledge of what the agreement is about.  Would you have an infant negotiate your next employment contract?  Good luck.

agree that despite it's rhetoric iran's actions are a lot more rational than they're given credit.  I remember not too long after 9/11 seeing an interview w/colin powell (what's he up to nowadays btw?) where he he claims in the minutes after the attack saying:  "al quaeda did this" & the person to whom he said it (forget who) replied asking why he so confident to which he replied that only they and iran have had the resources & motive but the iranians had a country & knew what our response would be...

What seems to be clear and hasn't been denied by either this administration or any others, is that Iran is a large sponsor of terrorism and has been directly linked to the killing of at least 500 US soldiers (this was admitted by the DoD in congressional hearings).  To the logical thinker, putting more money and firepower in the hands of Iran will only increase one if not both of these.  IMO, until there is a regeime change in Iran the sanctions and all nuke activity should be prohibited.

Should American's support the deal has been kept secret from the American people?  Hell no!  Are we surprised that the rest of the world supports this deal even though they don't know what's in it? Hell no! The rest of the world would love to see traditional American interests 'changed' (read: destroyed), such as Israel, world supremecy, etc.

It's hard to conclude a deal is good when their rhetoric never changes.

I wish there was a way to be sure they were on the level.

Exactly, So much for "good faith"....

WASHINGTON—Iran so far has refused to allow United Nations inspectors to interview key scientists and military officers to investigate allegations that Tehran maintained a covert nuclear-weapons program, the head of the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog said in an interview Wednesday.

Iran’s stance complicates the International Atomic Energy Agency’s probe into Tehran’s suspected nuclear-military program—a study that is slated to be completed by mid-December, as required by the landmark nuclear agreementforged between world powers and Iran on July 14 in Vienna.

Let's keep it simple Georgie Boy -- OBAMA SUPPORTS THE DEAL! And that's a deal breaker for me. Don't give me this shit they are a rational player that hasn't invaded another country for 200 years -- they haven't had the current leadership nor have they had an atom bomb coming to a middle east Iranian neighbrhood near you! By the way American Jews are the most progessive liberal democrat statist idiots around so I am going to need a better reference than that

"Jews are fundamentaly liars. They lie mercilessly even to themselves. Jews lie about everything. Meaning by everything literally “every single thing”. You can’t have a simple truth from a Jew. Even or the most insignificant thing. I guess there must be some psychiatric, anthropological and sociological explanations for that lying compulsive behavior. There’s no more racist and disgusting slogan than “the chosen people.” It looks like derived from that slogan, they are taught and trained in the synagogues not to try and do anything but oppress peoples. For that purpose they lie again and again. Jews give God a bad name"

Remember Sandy Berger, and what he did and really got away with it in order to smear the true history of his and his President's and Party's actions (BTW, years later)?

Remember all the highest level gov't officials (CIA, Director of National Intelligence ect.) signing off on President Obama's Benghazi 'it was a ugly hateful video' meme?  The dead to them were only a political inconvenience.  I'm tempted to call it human nature, but that would be unfair to those that really try to comport themselves to faithful honest actions.

Yes, I do.  Anyone who even marginally follows Israeli politics is quite aware that the Left there is just as contemptuous of national sovereignty in the pursuit of party/Marxist international solidarity.  The loser in the last election (Zionist something), openly called for the Arab voters and Arab Members of the Kennesit (sp) to form a block against Lukud.  Just like the "Progressives" (DemPublicans) here support open borders, TPP, NAFTA, and are against every benchmark of national sovereignty here.  All of these marxists-socialists-fascists-progs  believe they can manage our ride on the staircase banister to hell.  Shorthand: World governance.

They all might be a part of the ZOG, but they care not one wit about how it effects the average Jew in Israel or anyone anywhere else in the world as long as it doesn't stifle their power.

This all makes sense to me. I've read articles about the details of the agreement and it limits development of enriched Uranium necessary for a bomb, imposes conditions and inspections on Iran and makes sanctions automatic if they breach the terms.

We've been fed such a line by the hardline militarists in this country that the average person really doesn't know much of the truth and doesn't bother to study issues like this and make up their own damn mind.

Thank you Fox News.
