I laugh at these "green" solar plants. They tear up dozens of square miles of pristine desert to add millions of solar panels. Then they run hundreds of miles of high tension lines across the landscape, just to power homes from 10am to 2pm. It's just a giant con game.
If they cared about "being green" (which they don't), they would simply put the solar panels directly on the roofs of the buildings that are being serviced. It would eliminate the power lines, and the large tracts of land being wasted. Besides, most of the energy gets "lost" along the power line route.
The only green that green means is the color of federal reserve notes for crony insiders.
Not to mention all of the mining to get the materials and all of the Chinese coal that was burned during the manufacturing process and all of the mining that entails. Renewable energy is only as renewable as the equipment that is used to harvest it, which is to say that the name 'renewable' is itself a lie.

Not to be Socialist or anything, but so long as any economic analysis considers environmental concerns as "externalities", then "clean power" will never be cost competitive (i.e. Government subsidies are necessary). And I doubt that very many people would argue that something has to be done to reduce damage to the environment. Unfortunately when the Government gets involved...feck it. Call me when NY gets washed out again or the Outer Banks vanishes.

Presumably your reference to carbon emissions is actually meant to refer to the gas CO2 rather than the element C which is a solid at normal temperatures. Whenever we hear someone refer to carbon dioxide as "carbon" we know that person is a scientific ignoramous or a liar or both, usually the latter.
If one had to contract a reference to CO2 to a single element, then you'd contract it to oxygen, since in atomic terms oxygen constitutes 2/3 of a CO2 molecule and in atomic weight 72% of a CO2 molecule.

1. Buy a chunk of land. Use your own money. If you don't have any then convince Bill Gates, Elon Musk, etc. etc. to buy the land and deed it to you.
2. Build your fairy tale "energy system" and start it up.
3. Be completely un-connected from any other energy system.
4. For a period of 4 years live on only your own fairy tale system. Convince 100 other fairy tale dwellers to join you.
5. By real world example show the rest of us how wonderful your system is.
6. When you have compiled a working track record then show it to the rest of us. We will then decide, for ourselves, if we want to live in fairy tale land.

The FIRST thing that we should do with respect to developing any alternative energy systems is evaluate HOW human beings and civilizations operate as general energy systems. HOWEVER, attempting to do that runs into politically impossible obstructions that civilization acts an entropic pump of energy flow, in ways which are deliberately misunderstood in the maximum possible, absurdly backwards ways, because the ways that civilization works most closely match the principles and methods of organized crime, with governments being the biggest forms of organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals, (who are currently the banksters.)
ANY ALTERNATIVES WHICH ARE ATTEMPTING TO BE DEVELOPED MUST DO SO THROUGH FUNDAMENTALLY FRAUDULENT FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING SYSTEMS!
Pretty well ALL of the phrases like "sustainable" and "renewable" are uttered by immaculate hypocrites, who almost NEVER address the basic issues of the general death control systems, or the human murder systems in particular. I have no doubt that there are an abundance of Alternative Energies, And Ways Society Adapts to Them. However, each and every such alternative either must fit inside of the established systems of legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, or transform those to become some different kinds of systems of lies backed by violence. At the present time, every economic decision is made inside of the context whereby governments ENFORCE FRAUDS by privately controlled banks, creating the public "money" supply out of nothing as debts. That "money" then "pays" to strip-mine the planet's natural resources, while the same fundamentally fraudulent financial accounting systems then tend to deliberately ignore the accumulating pollution and garbage, due the cliche ways that ENFORCED FRAUDS privatize the profits, while socializing the losses.
Of course, at the present time, we are headed toward runaway debt insanities provoking death insanities. I REPEAT, the basic problems with attempting to evaluate alternative energy systems is that must be done inside the context of better understanding human beings and civilizations as general energy systems. Nothing could possibly make more sense unless the human murder systems made more sense. HOWEVER, doing that necessarily reveals that the existing death control systems were developed through the history of warfare to become based upon the maximum possible deceits, which then became the foundation for the debt control systems to be developed on the basis of the maximum possible ENFORCED FRAUDS.
The essential political problem that we face is how to channel progress in physical science through the human murder systems. So far, that has only been done through the MAD Mutual Assured Destruction precarious dynamic equilibria, while almost everyone who is working on the various creative alternatives with respect to energy supplies tend to be both taking for granted, and/or deliberately ignoring, the bigger context that the debt controls are backed by the death controls, and therefore, any more creation of the "money" as debts, inside the MAD Money As Debt systems, to "pay" for developing any alternative energy supplies, must still be backed by the death control systems, in order for that to actually exist. ALWAYS, the essential political problems continue to be the history of successful warfare based on backing up deceits with destruction, morphing to become successful finance based upon ENFORCING FRAUDS. The degree to which that exists is both overwhelming, as well as overwhelmingly ignored, and therefore, all of supposedly "economic" calculations regarding energy supplies, and so too, any alternative energy supplies, tend to be based upon deliberately disregarding the death control systems which are necessarily the central core to everything else.
It is extremely difficult to do saner social engineering when the previously most successful forms of social engineering were based on the maximum possible deceits and frauds. Rather, the established systems are headed towards series of psychotic breakdowns, due to the growing Grand Canyon Chasms between progress in physical science, without surpassing progress in political science. The reasons for that are OBVIOUS: there must be human death controls, with human murder systems central to those. NOTHING ELSE can be sanely engineered while THAT is deliberately ignored and disregarded. However, for thousands of years, social pyramid systems developed on the basis of being able to back up lies with violence. Progress in physical science was primarily applied to become better at backing up lies with violence. Therefore, we now have globalized electronic frauds, backed by atomic bombs. It is inside of that context that ANY & ALL ALTERNATIVES MUST BE OPERATING (although, in consistently paradoxical ways, the most apparently successfully developed of those ALTERNATIVES are being developed with the maximum possible deliberate ignorance towards the bigger picture that they actually fit within.)
It is theoretically possible that there could be developed better human ecologies, which were better integrated with industrial and natural ecologies. It is theoretically possible that the abundance of creative alternatives could be assembled into better overall systems. However, NONE of that is possible without first and foremost the development of better human murder systems, within the context of better human death control systems. OF COURSE, that is why we are instead headed towards crazy collapses into chaos, since the established debt slavery systems have already generated numbers which are debt insanities, which are headed towards provoking death insanities, which is the real political context in which realistic alternatives will have to be developed. There are NO genuine solutions which are possible that do not have better human murder systems as their central feature, since money is measurement backed by murder. However, that is now being done through the maximum possible frauds and deceits, which is why all of the supposedly "renewable" and "sustainable" developments tend to be absurdly backward bullshit, when considered in that bigger picture.
Obama is stuck inside of a political economy system which demands that it continues to DOUBLE DOWN ON ITS DEBTS. The next President would also still be stuck inside of that absolutely necessary "dirty business," which is behind any possible "Clean Power Plan." While a cartoon can easily poke fun at the ways that Obama appears to be presenting plans which depend upon "magic," behind the scenes is the "magical mathematics," whereby governments ENFORCE FRAUDS by privately controlled banks, who are allowed to make the public "money" supply out of nothing as debts. The apparent ability to make "money" ex nihilo superficially seems to be the most extreme form of "magic," which far exceeds merely pulling a rabbit out of a hat!
That ex nihilo public "money" supply, at first glance, looks like it violates the basic laws of nature, such as the conservation of energy and matter. However, upon deeper analysis it becomes clearer that the laws of nature are NOT being violated, because that kind of public "money" is based upon ENFORCING FRAUDS, where the FORCE to back up the FRAUDS has to be considered in order to understand that the ONLY connection between human laws and natural laws is the ability to back up lies with violence.
Obama appears to be proposing absurd, "magical" solutions to various problems, because it is politically impossible for him to speak more honestly about anything. Indeed, he is President because he was the best available professional liar and immaculate hypocrite that could be selected to fill that role. It is politically impossible for Obama to ever speak more realistically about human energy systems. Rather, he, as well as all of the rest of the globalized Neolithic style of civilization, is trapped inside of the increasingly vicious spirals of social successes based upon being able to back up lies with violence, as ENFORCED FRAUDS.
Every day, the contradictions between progress in physical science, without any surpassing progress in political science, continue to automatically get bigger and BIGGER. The primary reasons for that are such genuine progress in political science would require assimilating the paradigm shifts that have already been achieved in physical science, in ways that resulted in paradigm shifts in political science that surpassed those which previously were achieved in physical science. Every day, the contradictions between physical science better understanding general energy systems, while political science dismally and deliberately fails to better understand human general energy systems get bigger and BIGGER. Hence, the existing situation of globalized electronic monkey money frauds, backed by the threat of force from apes with atomic bombs.
The cartoon above illustrated that, in the sense that Obama's plans appear to rely upon "magic" to work. The deeper reasons for that are the all around "magical thinking" that our entire civilization is based upon, in order to be able to continue to operate within fundamentally fraudulent financial accounting systems, where the public "money" supply can be created out of nothing, and disappear back to nothing, in what seems at first glance to be the most "magical" ways. Being able to make the "money" out of nothing in those ways to pay for energy supplies results in the physical development of energy supplies being done in absurdly backward ways, due to all of those developments occurring within the context of ENFORCED FRAUDS, whose continued social successfulness depends upon the social pyramid systems continuing to have small minorities back up their lies with violence, while the larger majorities accept that, no matter how absurdly backwards the consequences of believing in that kind of of "magical" bullshit becomes.
OBVIOUSLY, President Obama actually is a political puppet for the international banksters, and therefore, all of his plans are actually the banksters' plans, which require that their "magical" ability to make the public "money" supply out of nothing as debts for everyone else continues to be respected by almost everyone else. What that cartoon is actually poking fun at is the "magical thinking" which results from taking for granted that being able to make "money" out of nothing works ... Of course, that only "works" to the degree that money is measurement backed by murder.
Human beings are NOT actually violating the laws of nature, when human laws become based on backing up lies with violence. However, the longer term consequences of civilization being controlled in those ways necessarily results in society as a whole becoming more psychotic and criminally insane. At no time does that actually violate the basic laws of nature. However, at the same time, each short to medium term increment of social successfulness based upon being able to operate through integrated systems of legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, as ENFORCED FRAUDS, drives that society as a whole to become sicker and more insane. Of course, that enables editorial cartoons to poke fun at that situation, where it is the case that the public "money" supply is being created out of nothing to "pay" for developing alternative energy supplies, in ways which therefore are based upon supremely "magical thinking."
Of course, that kind of "magical thinking" is redundantly reinforced by people generally NOT wanting to think more realistically about the human murder systems that back up the money systems. At the present time, the established social pyramid systems are based upon almost nothing else than the core of organized crime, run by the banksters and their buddies, which are surrounded by layers of controlled opposition, which are also effectively dominated by the banksters as well, (especially since the now dominate natural languages and philosophy science have the biggest bullies' bullshit world view built into them.) Therefore, the generally common forms of "magical thinking" includes not only that the established systems are based upon ENFORCED FRAUDS, but also, the bogus "solutions" for those problems tend to similarly be based on "magical thinking" too.
While the cartoon appears to be poking fun at President Obama, it is also simultaneously poking fun at the currently existing, globalized political economy, all of which is almost totally dominated by the "magical mathematics" of being able to make the public "money" out of nothing. The established political economy is based upon ENFORCING FRAUDS, in ways that "work!" At the present time, the ways that those debt slavery systems will stop "working" appear to necessarily be that they will generate numbers which become debt insanities, that then provoke death insanities. It is in that context that the only genuine solutions for the longer term consequences of so much "magical thinking," for so long, must necessarily become some series of psychotic breakdowns, which will include various ways that the previous established energy supply systems, and their bogus "alternatives," will go through various sorts of psychotic breakdowns, due to those being engineered with the use of ENFORCED FRAUDS, as the "magical mathematics" which calculated what was supposed to be worthwhile to do.
Of course, the background, basic laws of nature will continue to exist and operate. However, the human abilities to operate by deliberately misunderstanding those, in the maximum possible, absurdly backward ways, are headed for some "corrections" of those ENORMOUS ERRORS due to everything becoming based upon the "magical thinking" advanced by ENFORCING FRAUDS. By and large, there are no good grounds to believe that human civilization is willing and able to overcome its penchant for "magical thinking," due to the ways that there have been ENFORCED FRAUDS for generation after generation.
So far, our social pyramid styles of civilization depend upon BOTH that money is measurement backed by murder, AND that almost nobody wants to understand that. Therefore, the "magical thinking" that pertains to the monetary systems also embraces the military systems within which that monetary system actually existed. Although, of course, human "magical thinking" does NOT change the underlying laws of nature, social successfulness based upon lying about the laws of nature is ubiquitous and pervasive. The cartoon above illustrates the meeting point between the ways that politics actually operates, as personified by President Obama, and the physical world, i.e., the physics of electrical power transmission. That cartoon illustrates Obama connecting the "magic of money made out of nothing" to the realities of deteriorating electrical power transmission. Overall, that illustrates the almost universal attitudes that exist which are based upon deliberately misunderstanding the laws of nature, in the most absurdly backward ways possible, because those are the ways that the biggest bullies' bullshit world views almost totally dominate how almost everyone thinks, which they continue to take almost totally for granted when they communicate with each other.
There continue to be growing and GROWING profound contradictions between progress in physical science, versus nothing remotely like that in political science. In my view, that is the root reason for why such a cartoon could be drawn, and its message appear both funny because it is true, as well as terrible because it is true. Political science continues to almost totally stay within taking for granted the biggest bullies' bullshit world view, regardless of the degree to which that requires deliberately ignoring, as much as possible, how human beings and civilizations operate as general energy systems. While it is theoretically possible to go through profound paradigm shifts in the ways that we perceive politics, that requires recognizing extremely radical truths, that pretty well totally reverse the biggest bullies' bullshit world views, although, of course, those radical truths also can still embrace how and why the biggest bullies were able to develop their kinds of bullshit social stories.
At the present time, that cartoon illustrates the degree to which there are ridiculous disconnections between the "magical thinking" common throughout politics, that takes ENFORCED FRAUDS almost completely for granted, without recognizing that those actually ARE ENFORCED FRAUDS. That cartoon illustrated the apparent absurdities that exist whenever one attempts to connect the world of physics with the world of politics.
Of course, those are connected, but the ways that they are actually connected are through ENFORCING FRAUDS TO THE DEGREE THAT ALMOST NOBODY IS WILLING AND ABLE TO ADMIT AND ADDRESS THAT BEING THE SITUATION. While it is theoretically possible to understand human beings and civilizations are manifestations of general energy systems, in order to do that one has to appreciate the radical truths regarding how the currently dominate globalized civilization is based upon the biggest bullies' bullshit world views presenting everything in the most absurdly backward ways possible. Ironically, while human beings have made prodigious progress in physical science, that kind of profound paradigm changing progress has not been allowed to happen in political science. Rather, the trends have been more the opposite, so far, that the philosophy of science has more been corrupted and become crazier, in order to compromise with the dominance of the biggest bullies' bullshit world views, rather than the bullies' bullshit has been corrected by progress in physical science.
Therefore, what that cartoon was illustrating was the ways that the kinds of "magical thinking" in the political world encounters the deteriorating situation in the physical world. "Magical thinking" almost totally dominates the combined money/murder systems operated through the political processes. That those systems are, and must necessarily be, ENFORCED FRAUDS is deliberately ignored and denied, while, the few that do notice and comment upon that still tend to stay within the biggest bullies' world views, by promoting bogus "solutions" which continue to be based upon basically the same old-fashioned "magical thinking" with respect to political problems.
Therefore, every day, the absurd contradictions between progress in physical science, without surpassing progress in political science, continue to get bigger and BIGGER, which was what a cartoon like the one above was illustrating. The world of politics may as well be the American Dollar, as a flying unicorn, backed up by the American Military, as a flying dragon. The overall social systems thereby based upon FRAUDS ENFORCED are the ways that the world of politics are connected to the physical world. Those kinds of connections are currently done and dominated by the biggest bullies, including that their controlled opposition also spouts the same basic bullshit world views. While it gets easier and easier for editorial cartoons to poke fun at that situation, at the same time those problem continue to get more serious, at exponentially accelerating rates!
