"The Top's In" David Stockman Warns Of "Epochal Deflation"

Tyler Durden's picture

The truth hurts... especially permabullish CNBC anchors. But when David Stockman explained why "the top is in," and warned that the world is overdue for an "epochal deflation, like nothing it has ever seen," one should listen. The "debt supernova" of the last decade or two has created massive over-capacity and this commodity deflation "is not temporary, it's the end of the central bank bubble." The catalyst has already happened -"It's China," Stockman exclaims, "China is the most lunatic pyramid of credit and speculation.. and capital is now fleeing the swaying towers of the China ponzi."

Well worth the price of admission...

The debt has to be restructured Govt and private then rates raised / budget balanced.

The problem is political in that the Gov would lose the power to wage wars ect in a balanced budget enviroment .

But thats the only way we can see the economy grow again is once the debt has been reduced Govt back to 20-40%.

private on case by case basis.

It will be inflationary as it can only be done via money expansion.

Or through default.

Printing would be useless. Money can only be lent into existance and who is going to do the borrowing? You have to pay the money back with interest. Or you should be in jail.

Inflation is running pretty rampantant, Stealth Inflation that is if you look at McDonalds.

The Buns have shrunk and so did the Ingredients  all to maintain the same price. What do you do when you run out bun to reduce, you reduce the pattie size. The Patties are now the thickness of 2 slices of Bacon !. Can that technically still be called a Beef Pattie.

How long before the pattie is as thick as piece of Paper to maintain the Illusion of Zero% Inflation.

Seems that all inflation is not equally dispersed across the commodity complex.  Soft asset inflation is still increasing, although at a lesser rate.

Where as, hard assets are coming off big time e.g.  industrial metals.  I figure the speculators know we have to eat and are hedging themselves accordingly.

Now if folks could eat aluminum and copper I'd be making a better living.

Of course, no one could have seen this coming.... ROFL.

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered..."

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

Thomas Jefferson.
