"Teflon" Trump Remains Double-Digit Leader In Post-Debate Poll

Tyler Durden's picture

Despite rumors, spin, Koch Brothers' spending, and FOX News' efforts, "Teflon" Donald Trump remains the clear leader in the first post-debate poll.

As NBC News reports,

According to the latest NBC News Online Poll conducted by SurveyMonkey, Trump is at the top of the list of GOP candidates that Republican primary voters would cast a ballot for if the primary were being held right now.

The overnight poll was conducted for 24 hours from Friday evening into Saturday. During that period, Donald Trump stayed in the headlines due to his negative comments about Kelly and was dis-invited from a major conservative gathering in Atlanta.

None of that stopped Trump from coming in at the top of the poll with 23 percent.

* * *

Carly Fiorina has surged into 4th place after her undercard victory this week and perhaps most stunningly for the 'establishment', Jeb Bush has dropped out of the Top 5.

My previous comment on Carly ...

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-08-06/gop-debates-post-mortem-fiorina...

That gal screwed HP over ... here is one (old) example ...

Compaq was at a desperate dead end, and Carly Fiorina of HP wants to keep her job. Buying Compaq effectively resets the shot clock, buying her another 18 to 24 months before the HP board gives her the boot. This whole $25 billion deal is about executive ego. No other explanation comes even close to making sense.

(source) http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/2001/pulpit_20010906_000704.html

Making a big business deal to buy time because one has otherwise screwed things up. Leadership!

She is being fluffed in the press (I scanned a lot of headlines) while they are simultaneously bashing The Don as a misogynist as almost all his debate coverage is the Rosie O'Donnel bit, particularly in the left leaning press.

I actually read through a transcript of the whole debate and it does NOT match any of the coverage I am seeing at the major outlets AT ALL. Let's face it ... I said mean shit about my ex-wife and I am not a misogynist. This is just taking shit out of context and framing it to produce an emotion/opinion in a reader. They have no coverage on his immigration stance and other stuff, because people might actually want to know more about that! But, based on The Don's poll numbers the strategy to drive him under isn't working ... so expect them to really crank up the heat as this debate theater moves forward.

Cooter

+1 Totally agree with absolutely everything Denninger said.

So glad Trump is still on top.  What's disappointing is that

none of the other Republicans went out of their way to defend

Trump based on the same analytical logic as KD.  In fact they

further disparaged them.   Too bad, because I had high hopes

for Carson, Cruz or Fiorina as VP.  Fuck those three stooges.  I'm

in  the same camp that the more the paid media denigrates

DT -- the more I love and support him.  Go Trump -- who always

No surprise to see it take this long for the MSM to do a poll.

Highest rated non-sporting cable event ever and the MSM wanted a few days of relentlessly negative coverage of Trump before they took a poll.

Ron Paul got 3rd place: it was 22% Romney, 21% Santorum, and 20% Paul IIRC. Paul's campaign (I was part) also got everyone into a vote-counting position (votes are done on paper in caucuses), and we independently confirmed the vote.

From what we could see, Santorum bet the bank at the last minute, touring all 99 counties in Iowa, and this was enough to get him to steal the necessary number of votes from Paul so that both would lose. Even still, it was clear that no one liked Romney from the beginning, and the few who did vote for him told me it was b/c the media said he could win, even as the polls said otherwise.

Nobody seems to have anything good to say about the Yenta Nudelman.  Well, nothing is all black or all white.

For example, when she helped nazis overthrow a democratically elected government in Ukraine, she didn't just stand around distributing cookies to the nazis while US snipers killed people in Maiden Square.  Oh No!  That would be all black, no white.

But it didn't happen that way.  She distributed "Gluten-Free" cookies to the nazis.  It shows that she is deeply concerned about other people's well being.  Big difference.

O'Reilly made a comment last week about the planned parenthood stuff "If there is a creator, he's not going to like this" They have day time panel/magazine shows that are trashier than the non-news-network day time stuff. The "more outgoing" "jornalists" talking about their pre-marital sexual advertures in completely random moments. Then in the next segments talking about the importance of being good married people and loving their children, and the american values that make us all execptional. (the right to kill brown people on the otherside of the world) then you got the old "alpha" dudes threatening to kick other news peoples asses, and lately their fellow fox reporters. Chaptered by the "seeeerious" news programs.

I dislike O'Riley and his partner in crime dennis miller very much. Especially when they get into their "kill the brown people schticks." I don't know those people over there enough to like or dislike like them. I just know I can't afford to pay for it, especially after the 6 trillion we already spent and hundreds of thousands of innocent lives.

I saw the same thing you saw WRT hannity and all the similar on all the other networks including this morning. I really think they did not want this trump thing to go as far as it has. They are trying to get the other candidates in peoples minds but it isn't working.

What is really pathetic is they keep going to Kasic with deer in the headlight eyes, trying to get him to be a Regan type figure to jab/joke/make Trump heel. He is either incapable, unwilling, or enjoying toying with them. The big 3 (Chuck Todd, Stephanoplis, and the fox news sunday dudes) are genuinely anxious.

These were the candidates who did well in the debate -- Bush and Walker dropped back after lackluster debate performances.  From the list, I would say NONE of the above are approved by the Republican establishment.

The Trumpster did achieve one huge thing with this comments on Megyn Kelly - along with help from RedState, Trump took ALL the other candidates off the front page and slowed any post-debate momentum they may have had.

And while RedState invited Megyn Kelly to speak -- I doubt she showed up.  If Fox lets her in front of any public forum over the next few months she will get a very LOUD chorus of BOOs!

Americans are sick of the same old bullshit candidates saying the same bullshit lies they have always said. People know the lies are for the election and nothing they claim to do will be done. It will be more Banker power, more imperial wars, mosre government spending on useless shit, more open borders, more war.

Look, a candidate like Trump is off the wall, but people want to take Trump and his refusal to kiss media ass, and stick it right in the liar media's faces. If Trump starts calling the media women, who wear all the makeup and tight dresses to ask questions, a bunch of whores, I too might vote Trump! Just to piss off media.

Knockout? No it won't. There's a lot of Democrats that will vote for Hillary just because she in the party, she was fucked over by her hubby, she's got ".gov" leadership qualifications (to them) and because she's a white woman.

MANY older Americans will vote for her, especially in the Dem states.

Trump still requires a running mate that has at least some vague clue as to how foreign policy is managed.

Fiorina is just another 1% corporatist dunce with a resume of failure.  She can't balance the ticket.  Americans are not gonna vote for a blatantly corporatist ticket.  I'm not surprised that She polled well after the debates as she is the only women in the Republican field atm and the Fem vote is hungry to have it's 'Our turn' moment on both sides of the isle.

Trump won't bother with Palin's idiocy.  She has already said enough patently brainless things.  She abandoned her seat in Alaska.  Trump is not foolish enough to give the MSM any more ammo by allowing Palin and her handlers to latch on.

IMHO, Trump won't bother to court the fem vote now that he's been slugged by the first women to ask him a question at a debate.  The Fems blew any chance of fillng the ticket with this FOX debacle.

Trump needs foreign policy/MIC cred badly.

I still think Buchannan is about as good as it gets and I'd favor him over Trump; but, Donald has the money and is gonna call the shots...

IMHO, they are both too tempramental for one another so discussion of the pairing is moot really.

It would amount to proposing the marriage of an alligator and a tasmanian devil.

I think that Trump will pick a big strong MIC/security apparatus type to mollify the Fem and on-board the praetorian class.

Who has eyes on Tom Ridge?

If he  does get the republican nomination. He will pick one of the existing youngsters for VP Cruz, Rubio, but most likely Rand Paul or Fiorino.

America is mob rule. Trumps brand is "mentoring" apprentices. There are over 100,000 poople who work in the state department, 200,000 DOD. a million one step removed policy wonks and think tank beta fish to do the "foriegn policy/MIC" stuff. The modern preatorian class just wants to get paid. They don't need an old battle axe to call sentimental  nick names out of nostalgia. Trump is not going to waste the VP slot on somebody who can not work congress, setting up deals and favors that will last beyond his presidency.

That is correct, and if you were paying close attention to what he was saying during his much publicised "How is Hillary going to lecture me about living from pay check to pay check" tirade, he let something slip:" Until just four years ago, I had over $100k in student loans". Must be nice to be able to pay off that kind of debt in just four years. Don't suppose he had any help do you?

Rubio is not an eligible natural born Citizen, since neither of his parents were US citizens at the time Marco was born.

The Constitution does not in words say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners. Minor v. Happersett, 88 US 162, 167 (1875)

Not that anyone is going to read this, but Trump is playing "the woman card" perfectly in that (like a script) he is sucking up the oxygen of any "bad economy" campaign for any other contender and replacing it with this fake snarky "anti-woman" perception which is EXACTLY what the Democrats in Chicago and Google have in store for the Clinton Campaign.

This is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Again.  Maybe Trump is just a flash in the pan and it will be all over by January.

But. You can raise a lot of money running for President and even a billionaire "independent" like Trump is Hillary's Pepsi to her Coke.

The election must be framed by something nonsensical - like gender - rather than on facts of corporate control and endless wars.

So far all this "press" about "trump degrades women" plays into Democrat hands so beautifully it must have been planned years in advance.

The "election" must be framed by gender as anything else has no rational basis for support (for either party).

G_d help us all.

Ben Carson & Donald Trump are the only 2 in the field who are NOT members of the bureaucratic establishment. The other candidates talk BORING BUREAUCRAT talk. Fiorina talks it better than the others. Carson & Trump don't speak it at all. When either of those men talk they tell how the vast bureaucratic state effects lives of people oppressed by bureaucrats. Trump & Carson tell how corrupt & self-serving the rotten U.S. government bureaucracy has become--all of it--federal-state-county-city. Tear it all out. Reform. Rebuild.
