Dow Gives Up Post-QE3 Gains, S&P Breaks Below Key Technical Support
The S&P 500 has once again broken, rather aggressively, below its 200-day moving average and is headed close to unchanged for 2015. The Dow has tumbled 1200 points from its highs and has now broken below the level at the end of QE3... we are gonna need a bigger Fed Balance Sheet...

I like these days...sit at home...keep hitting refresh to watch all of the disaster stories. Thanks Tylers. So glad I don't play these markets any more. Lost my ass in the Dot.com crap. Never again.
Turn out the lights, the party's over....
trend is down
the great southern trendkill
THE FUN REALLY STARTS NOW!
PS: Beware of falling banksters.
Where is PPT when you need one?
Yep, now all we need are gladiators and muppets fed to the lions......
I follow Edison International as my indicator for when that mysterious 'someone' is buying large amounts of SPY. As a low liquidity S&P component it gets bounced around agressively by the interventions. Today it's up over 3% (after a downgrade) yet the S&P is still falling. They may be losing control. About time.
Excellent read, Fred...
Lights been out for a long while..........................but the party is in full swing
HURRY.... Start QE 4!!! Print you Fuckers!!!!!!
Any of you ZH-ers that have a zero position in physical gold and/or silver/other PM (that you can actually hold)?
If so, how would you respond to these:
With QE4 from the FED on the horizon, Draghi already doing QE in the EU, and the fact that: "Gold always eventually accounts for an expansion the currency supply" - Mike Maloney

I can't understand why anyone paying attention would not have at least some physical gold/other PM.
I regularly check my local go-to bullion dealer (here in London) and their supply of various physical PMs, while still quite a few types "in-stock", I've noticed a lot of bullion coins are now "unavailable"...
Sadly I have no physical gold because mine was lost in a boating incident. :(
I buried mine in the woods and forgot where. Maybe when the time comes I'll remember.
Yeah me too. Why didn't THEY tell me never take your stash on a canoe trip? Why????
I was told PM's love an open-air boating experience....little did I know.....
I have zero gold. I also have very little capital. I would have to cash my stocks. I am young and I am holding them for the long-term.
I would love to have gold, but my entire net worth (not including my -debt) is worth a piece of gold smaller than my finger. Even if gold were to skyrocket I stand to make very little and risk all.
I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not. Get the fuck out of the market...cash it all in and buy silver. Haven't you learned son? And if you have no assets....do what the Fed told you...GET SOME.
I'm seriously considering getting into debt to buy physical.
If you were in the US I'd say go for it, but where you are? Don't they throw people in jail for that?
Not here in the UK... at least, not yet...
Get it while you can.
Its assurance(not insurance) against the inevitable fiat death thats culminating/in progress
right now.
Tick tock.

I love seeing ZH coming up in places I least expect. Yesterday I saw ZH mentioned in an article on Engineering.com of all places.
ZH is either a sanctuary for the crazies or the only voice of reason. Time will tell, if it hasnt already.
The BULLS have lived by the sword (U.S. Fed) and will die by the sword (PBOC)
<running for open gate>
Baaaaaah. Baaaaaahhhhh!
You got it!
More buybacks is the answer as Apple is finding out. How many billions did it spend buying shares above $110?
Markets waiting for old Yeller's put to kick in?
Since 2004, companies have spent nearly $7 trillion purchasing their own stock — often at inflated prices, according to data from Mustafa Erdem Sakinc of the Academic-Industry Research Network.
That amounts to about 54 percent of all profits from Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index companies between 2003 and 2012, according to William Lazonick, a professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

@JO
46% proffits on buybacks to go............................. then
Watch out for a bounce...maybe around IWM 117.50 ish level...
plunge protection usually kicks in around 13:00 (eastern) will be interesting to see if they wait or if the "v" starts early today - if they let nature take its course 13:00 may be on the wrong side of the event horizon...
[edit] WHOOP! there it is! WHOOP! there it is!
how many more stair steps today & where's the close? getting seriously f_____g tired of seeing daily 5-fig swings in my accounts!
Perfect time for a rate hike.

Smells like time to buy some stawks.
What's the matter? YELLEN will save the world with helicopter money.
But CNBS said the market rally had nothing to do with QE, it was all based on fundermentals. I'm so confused. Help me Jim Cramer.
market rally down
And yet my gold miner is up 11.5% today. 19% since I bought it 2 weeks ago.
I guess you downvoters don't believe me? Check MUX.
Get your DJ 16k hat on.
:)
It's almost funny.
Yeah, when one can do no more, laugh.
Simon Hobbs is going full retard with Cashin on CNBS...Hobbs is another one that needs a good pimp slap.
luv it
how big was QE3 again?
Technically QE3 ended December 19, due to the delay from settlement on MBS purchases. The million dollar question is when do we get QE4?
Dammit! Fed obviously can't hike in this environment. This should be a deficit spend moment with rates this low ( how about another payroll tax holiday), but there's no will for that in Congress. Protectionism is on its way.
This is gonna end badly.
euope needs to take a sledge hammer to their circuit breakers, now
You've got your classic Head and shoulders patterns, and you've got your Contratiff Waves, as well as others, i'm sure.
But I'm going to call this one the "Curl up and Dye" topping pattern. This one looks like she's rolled over and is heading into that long good night. Oh, and it's a long ways down. see you all at the bottom.
Nasdaq is only 5% below its high. S&P not even 4%.... Wake me up when we drop at least 10%. sheesh
The usdx is trying to grind through the 50% FIBI of the 93.68-98.43 move. Just a tad above 96.00 here.
Buy and park your gold by the grams and in the vault/country of your choice: Bitgold.com
Its a no brainer on how to fix it. You print.
I'd say we are overdue for another Federal Reserve monkey taking to the stage with the "Recovery" sham!
Time for more of that reviled Durdenesque humor to calm the frightened barnyard critters down.
