Dow Gives Up Post-QE3 Gains, S&P Breaks Below Key Technical Support

Tyler Durden's picture

The S&P 500 has once again broken, rather aggressively, below its 200-day moving average and is headed close to unchanged for 2015. The Dow has tumbled 1200 points from its highs and has now broken below the level at the end of QE3... we are gonna need a bigger Fed Balance Sheet...

I like these days...sit at home...keep hitting refresh to watch all of the disaster stories.  Thanks Tylers.  So glad I don't play these markets any more.  Lost my ass in the Dot.com crap.  Never again.

I follow Edison International as my indicator for when that mysterious 'someone' is buying large amounts of SPY. As a low liquidity S&P component it gets bounced around agressively by the interventions. Today it's up over 3% (after a downgrade) yet the S&P is still falling. They may be losing control. About time.

Any of you ZH-ers that have a zero position in physical gold and/or silver/other PM (that you can actually hold)?

If so, how would you respond to these:

With QE4 from the FED on the horizon, Draghi already doing QE in the EU, and the fact that: "Gold always eventually accounts for an expansion the currency supply" - Mike Maloney

Aug 6th 2015 Goldman Sachs And HSBC Buy 7.1 Tons Of Physical Gold "Yet, even as the firm builds its stockpile, Goldman tells clients not to do it." - http://seekingalpha.com/article/3421396-the-big-long-goldman-sachs-and-h...

Finite amount of PMs available on the planet, but paper receipts are doing a Buzz Lightyear: Paper Gold "Dilution" Hits A Record 124 For Every Ounce Of Physical - http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-08-03/comex-edge-deliverable-gold-dro...

I can't understand why anyone paying attention would not have at least some physical gold/other PM.

I regularly check my local go-to bullion dealer (here in London) and their supply of various physical PMs, while still quite a few types "in-stock", I've noticed a lot of bullion coins are now "unavailable"...

I have zero gold. I also have very little capital. I would have to cash my stocks. I am young and I am holding them for the long-term.

I would love to have gold, but my entire net worth (not including my -debt) is worth a piece of gold smaller than my finger. Even if gold were to skyrocket I stand to make very little and risk all.

I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not.  Get the fuck out of the market...cash it all in and buy silver.  Haven't you learned son?  And if you have no assets....do what the Fed told you...GET SOME.

More buybacks is the answer as Apple is finding out.  How many billions did it spend buying shares above $110?

Markets waiting for old Yeller's put to kick in?

Since 2004, companies have spent nearly $7 trillion purchasing their own stock — often at inflated prices, according to data from Mustafa Erdem Sakinc of the Academic-Industry Research Network.

That amounts to about 54 percent of all profits from Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index companies between 2003 and 2012, according to William Lazonick, a professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Dammit! Fed obviously can't hike in this environment. This should be a deficit spend moment with rates this low ( how about another payroll tax holiday), but there's no will for that in Congress. Protectionism is on its way.

This is gonna end badly.
