Stop The "Bloodshed": Trump Calls Truce With Fox News

Tyler Durden's picture

As Hillary Clinton attempts to fend of a surging Bernie Sanders while addressing serious questions about her handling of sensitive government information during her tenure as the nation’s top diplomat, Donald Trump is busy trying to determine how best to handle a string of bad publicity which paradoxically has him well ahead of GOP rivals in the polls.

Trump, whose reputation for being "teflon" and "gaffe proof" has held up nicely since last Thursday’s first Republican primary debate, found himself out of favor with Fox News (an ardently GOP-friendly network) after suggesting that Megyn Kelly was menstruating when she asked him if he thought calling women “disgusting pigs” was behavior that was likely to hold up well with voters. Since then, Trump has refused to apologize, even as his comments appeared to have cost him a top advisor and a speaking slot at a GOP event.

Now, it looks as though obstinace has paid off because as FT reports, Fox’s President Roger Ailes has apparently decided that being boycotted by the Republican frontrunner isn’t an acceptable outcome for the network. Here’s more:

Friends again. Donald Trump and Fox News have agreed to a truce after four days of feuding that exposed Republican party weaknesses in the 2016 election.

The real estate mogul reappeared on Fox on Tuesday morning after talking the day before to Roger Ailes, president of the conservative-leaning network and a backroom influence in Republican politics.

Mr Trump, who is leading the polls for the Republican nomination, had threatened to boycott the network over what he claimed was harsh treatment in a debate last week between presidential candidates. At one stage, he even appeared to suggest that Fox presenter Megyn Kelly had asked him tough questions because she was menstruating.

“We are friends, Steve. We’ve always been friends,” Mr Trump told Steve Doocy, co-host of Fox & Friends, on Tuesday morning.

Speaking to CNN on Tuesday, Mr Trump said he had received a call from Mr Ailes on Monday to discuss the debate, although he said they did not mention Ms Kelly. “Roger Ailes, who is an amazing guy and an amazing executive, frankly, he called me yesterday and as far as I’m concerned, I’m fine with it,” he said.

Mr Ailes put out a statement saying the two men had a “blunt but cordial conversation and the air has been cleared”. He said he had expressed his confidence in Ms Kelly who was “a brilliant journalist”.

Yes, a “brilliant journalist”, but apparently not brilliant enough for Fox to risk sticking its neck out for if it means an ongoing feud with Trump, who isn’t exactly known for backing down.

Here’s an admittedly slanted, though useful take from New York Magazine

In the fallout since the first GOP debate, Fox News chairman Roger Ailes has found himself caught between Donald Trump, who has the full backing of Fox’s misogynist audience, and Megyn Kelly, the star anchor whom Ailes has nurtured and sees as the key to reaching younger viewers. For a few days, Ailes didn’t know how to handle Trump’s full-throated attack on Kelly, who accused Trump of sexism during the debate. Eventually, he made the same choice he always does: follow the ratings, and mend fences with Trump. But that process has meant that Fox has had to mute its defense of Kelly, who is now watching uneasily as the Fox audience turns on her.

Trump is now back in Fox’s fold, but the lengths that Ailes went to in order to win Trump back revealed a rare moment of weakness for the Fox chief. Since Trump’s “blood” comment on Friday, some Fox executives have wanted Ailes to personally call Trump and broker a truce. But, according to a Fox source, Ailes and his lawyer Peter Johnson Jr. felt that calling Trump was a risk they couldn’t take, given Trump's erratic behavior on the campaign trail. What if Trump leaked the conversation on Twitter like he did with Lindsey Graham’s cell-phone number? (When reached by email about this story, Johnson responded: “The reporting is false and obviously fabricated.”)

Ailes’s unwillingness to pick up the phone meant that Fox was flying blind. “They didn’t know what Trump was thinking,” one source explained. It was left to emissaries to try and discern Trump’s next move. But, after Trump told Sean Hannity in a weekend phone call that he was “never doing Fox again,” appeared on four non-Fox public-affairs shows on Sunday, and did interviews with Today and Morning Joe on Monday, Ailes raised the white flag and picked up the phone on Monday morning. “Roger wanted a friendly relationship,” the source explained.

And here it is straight from the horse's mouth (if you will):

Whatever one wants to say about the "Teflon Don," it appears that, for now anyway, all publicity is indeed good publicity, and you can rest assured that as long as Trump is ahead in the polls, he will indeed receive "fair" treatment on Fox - whether Megyn Kelly likes it or not.

So if a male takes issue with a female moderator trying to railroad a guy she doesn't like during a supposed fair and balanced debate, that male is considered a misogynist? Kelly needs to pull on her big boy pants and figure out how to moderate a fair debate and not interject her personal opinions onto the candidates. She is the problem, not trump. Just ask fair questions and shut the fuck up, how hard is this job anyway?

He didn't. It was verbal speech, not a written statement. I never would have interpreted the trailing wherever to mean menstruation. Trump has already labelled it somewhat deviant to do so.

The lead in to this article kinda sucks, too, just like the headline.  It states as fact Trump was talking about her being hormonal when he never said that at all.  Regarding Ailes, here is my post from yesterday morning:

"Ailes blinked first.  Trump won.  Ailes only survives if he gets ratings.  Trump boycotted Fox for one Sunday, and Ailes caved.  He saw his ratings tank as viewers watched all the other news (?) shows, and tuned Fox out.  Plus, the feedback he was getting from viewers were negative for the station and debate moderators, but positive towards Trump.  Triage was called for, so Ailes picked up the phone with his tail between his legs.  Trump knows what that means.  Ailes has strutted around the stage for years now, pushing & shoving others behind the scenes as he pursues a personal political agenda.  He is an arrogant bully who just ran into another arrogant bully who called him out, kicked sand in his face, and made him apologize for all the world to see.  Fox is a foreign owned criminal organization with worldwide media penetration.  Just look at what happened in England and the way his employees illegally inserted themselves at the highest level of government."

It's moronic. Just working with Mr on construction projects at home has proven time and time again I am a second rate man ( why God didn't you grant us at least one son??) Pushing up 20' Trex beams to our 2nd story porch project damn near killed me. Then the comment. " working with a woman is different. I must tell you to do every step. When men work together we inherently get the process as we do it with little verbal interaction." I stop and glare at him, saying nothing. " I am not sure what I said but it appears to have troubled you in some way." " I could explain but being a man makes you unable to comprehend it."

We are not equal, we are different. The problem is there is a schism between us because we are no longer honoring our differences but denigrating them.

It is different working with a woman unless the woman has been doing traditionally "mens work"  for a while.

A woman was working on a job site and hand signals were used because of the distance. The man above pointed to his eye then his knee then his head = I need my hard hat.  The woman signaled back , eye, grabs left tit, grabs crotch. = I left it in the tool box.

Many years ago my friend picked up a young African grey parrot whose owners were having trouble getting to talk. As she drove home, a car drifted into her lane. Screaming " aw fuck" she veered hard right, rolling the cage over several times. When she got the bird home he was trembling, scared out of his wits, so she covered him up and kept him quiet. A few minutes later " aw fuck" screeched out from the cage. Then " aw fuck, aw fuck aw fuck..." She called me and I heard the diatribe. It was now " awfuckawfuckawfuck..." Non stop. I told my friend, it's just some trauma. Play some music. Turn on the tv. He'll get distracted when he calms down and learn other words.

To this day the only thing that bird will say is " Aw fuck". He'd make a great mascot for ZH.

Point taken, actually. We were all humans until race disconnected us, religion seperated us, politics divided us, and wealth classified us.

But politics do matter, at some point or another. A shift from a progressive to a conservative government can leave many people out in the cold--typically the most vulnerable members of society.

Even the staunchest of free-market believers among you must have gotten a taste of how that works after the banks were bailed-out at the expense of the taxpayer - including the entrepreneurial middle-class - in 2008.

I haven't had a television since 1984 (about three decades). But I stay(ed) informed via reading (The National Review at first), talk radio (until Rush Limbaugh left for NYC and became a Republican shill and Michael Savage started thinking we cared about what he eats), and finally the internet (an early adopter, I built my own IP/TCP stack before it came bundled with Windows and used some weird Czech text browser).

Anyway, despite not having television, I had heard of this 'Fox News', supposedly a conservative outlet, and I was excited to see it.

When I went back to visit my mom, who does have television, I had her put it on. After watching for about an hour or two, I asked her, "Mom, is there another Fox News?"

Because Fox News is not conservative in any sense of the word. Sure, it pushes (establishment) Republicans instead of Democrats and acts slightly less enthusiastic about some of the paradigm shifts destroying Western Civilization, but "... just 'cause you hate ***** and paying taxes, that doesn't make you a conservative."

end of the day IMO they need each other: trump needs fox to help him get the nomination & possibly elected president & fox can't do without trump's ratings bonanza. i think i heard the forecast was 2-3 million watching this debate; it came in at 22-23 million. thats trump. conversly, if he is serious about the white house, he's going to need them to help bridge the gap once he gets the nomination (if he gets it). the country is gonna vote 45 repub, 45 dem to start. its all about getting 6 of the middle 10% undecided/independants.

given the wonks outside of trump in the republican field, the fact that bernie sanders is starting to cruise past hillary, its only a matter of time before warren, biden, kerry get in this thing. if sanders & warren are both in at the same time, they may flatten hillary out. trump is gonna be the only guy IMO with the balls & brains to crush the socialist sell. if either of those 2 are elected, im leaving the fucking country.

on a side note, its beyond sad that a declared socialist is leading in several democratic polls. really tells me that people in this country FULLY EXPECT shit to be given/provided for them off the back of someone else.

But Fox is still bringing out waves of Republican establishment cronies to Bash Trump every night.  Recent bashing has been on forcing Trump to reveal details on policies -- then bashing those policies (while offering none of their own).  The easiest way to shut these clowns up is to ask them "Well, if you don't like Trump's plan, then what would you do about _____?" -- followed by "If you think your propsoal is the best plan, then why aren't you pushing Boehner and McConnell to pass your plan or criticing them not even trying to?"

But you won't hear those asked on Fox, or CNN, or anywhere else

Why We Need a Troll as President

Since Donald Trump entered the race, the Overton Window has shifted so that there is serious discussion of banning sanctuary cities, putting America first when it comes to trade, and, while we’re at it, discussing the open secret that John McCain may have been a collaborator in Vietnam. And Trump accomplished this not by “playing the game” but by treating the press and other Republicans with open contempt, performing an end run around the “Cathedral” (or the Synagogue, if you prefer) of interlocking institutions that manage acceptable opinion.

More importantly, only Donald Trump could have done this. Only someone with outrageous wealth, direct access to the “megaphone,” and utter contempt for the governing consensus could even achieve the modest level of support Trump has been able to garner. There is no other figure in America other than Donald Trump who meets those characteristics.

For a moment, consider the hysterical economic retribution directed against Trump by both private and public institutions for the obviously true comment that Mexico is not sending its best people to the United States. And then consider that even now, figures such as Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn calmly collect massive salaries from prominent and respected institutions without so much as an inconvenience. The double standard and the redefinition of “extremism” is breathtaking. Like Trump, one literally has to be a billionaire to point it out and not face personal destruction.

The survival of the current political, economic, and cultural system is a death sentence for the European-American population. A government that goes out of its way to import populations because they will dispossess and harm the European-American population of this government is evil. Call it nihilism or call it cynicism, but anything that keeps the system functioning as it is constitutes complicity with evil and just about anything that disrupts it should be supported.

Trump creates an opening to disrupt that system. He’s already opened up debate. And if you are going to bother with electoral politics at all, he’s the only one who even has the potential to create a positive change.

Ultimately, of course, this is a sideshow. Real change will occur by building our own institutions, markets, and tribes, and fomenting revolutionary consciousness among the forgotten men of our Hollow Empire. But electoral politics will affect us, even if we try our best to ignore it and remain independent of it. It doesn’t change the nature of the struggle, but it affects our actions depending on whether Trump, Clinton, Bush, Walker, or Sanders is President.

...while we’re at it, discussing the open secret that John McCain may have been a collaborator in Vietnam.

Well his old man the Admiral sold out the AMERICAN sailors of the USS Liberty.

Oddly, a slightly more junior admiral named Morrison saw his career destroyed because he asked serious questions about the USS Liberty.  Around the same time, his son started getting arrested at his band's concerts.  One was a felony in Miami Beach for doing nothing.  His son was looking at jail time.  Miami Beach was very tribe connected.

The son, Jim,  then took a vacation to a certain quarter in Paris and mysteriously ended up dead.  He was buried quickly and was claimed he OD'ed even though he was not a drug addict. The only possible witness, his girlfriend, ended up dead not long after that.

He was part of the MIC children pop stars of Laurel Canyon who ended up dead.  At the top of the canyon was a huge film facility run by MIC and theintel agencies.

The Street Gangs More Vicious Than ISIS

One of El Salvador’s former guerrilla leaders, who years ago traded olive drab for Irish tweeds and took up residence at Oxford University, can tell you exactly why his homeland is being torn apart right now by gang violence.

He can also tell you what that means to those of us who live under the delusion that the carnage in the streets of San Salvador this month—expected to get much worse this weekend—is not just a local problem in a faraway land.
Central America’s savagery is terrorism, pure and simple, says Joaquín Villalobos, and in many respects it is more horrible than the Middle Eastern brand. “Islamic terrorism decapitates and crucifies in its territories,” says Villalobos in a column for the Madrid daily El País. “In Latin America the criminals hang, decapitate, burn, chop up, and play soccer with the heads of their victims. In both cases terrorism is the method used to maintain authority.”

And Central America’s brand of terror is just around the corner from communities all over the United States, whether in the barrios of Los Angeles or at a derelict shopping mall next to a posh neighborhood on Long Island, as chronicled by Sarah Garland in her 2009 book The Gangs in Garden City.

The Salvadoran pandillas or maras, as the gangs are called, are in Washington State and in suburban Maryland on the fringes of Washington, D.C. Indeed, the FBI’s “National Gang Report—2013” (PDF), the most recent that’s been published, shows the two main Salvadoran groups, MS-13 and Barrio 18, are in just about every corner of this country. And, like other gangs, according to the FBI, they have infiltrated the U.S. military to get training and expand their influence. The feds also say that gang members show up on college campuses.

In fact, the Salvadoran gangs have roots almost as deep in the United States as they do in El Salvador itself. They started to grow in the 1980s, as hundreds of thousands of Salvadorans fled the civil war there, arriving in the U.S. to live, often without documents, on the margins of society. An estimated 40 percent of the population eventually “went north,” legally or illegally, to live and work. Central America’s brand of terror is just around the corner from communities all over the United States.

Back in the early 1980s ABC News Radio Broadcaster Paul Harvey warned America about the resurgence of diseases that we had long ago eradicated and of NEW diseases from the 3rd World, he said immigrants were bringing them in.
Apparently Mr Harvey's brave attempts went unheeded as the masses kept watching the Televitz just as in Fahrenheit 451. And note yet ANOTHER 3rd world MD. Good Lord WHEN will Whites WAKE UP?!!!

RESURGENCE OF TROPICAL DISEASE IN AMERICA...Increasingly found in southern states

One rainy Friday morning in March 2015, Dr Laila Woc-Colburn saw two patients with neurocysticercosis (a parasitic infection of the brain) and one with Chagas disease, which is transmitted by insects nicknamed 'kissing bugs'. Having attended medical school in her native Guatemala, she was used to treating these kinds of diseases. But she was not in Guatemala any more – this was Houston, Texas.

For half a day each week, one wing of the Smith Clinic's third floor in Houston is transformed into a tropical medicine clinic, treating all manner of infectious diseases for anyone who walks through the door. Since it opened in 2011, Woc-Colburn and her colleagues have treated everything from dengue and chikungunya to river blindness and cutaneous leishmaniasis. Their patients are not globetrotting travellers, bringing exotic diseases back home. The Smith Clinic is a safety net provider, the last resort for healthcare for people on low incomes and without insurance. Many of their patients haven't left the Houston area for years.

This suggests that what Woc-Colburn sees in the clinic may be just the leading edge of a gathering crisis. Diseases once associated with 'elsewhere' are increasingly being found in the southern states of the USA. Infectious disease physician Peter Hotez was so concerned that he founded a school of tropical medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, well within the territory that Hotez argues is one of the world's ten hotspots for so-called neglected tropical diseases.

4) “Bush is probably the worst president in the history of the United States.”

5) “I’m totally pro-choice.”

6) “I want to see the abortion issue removed from politics. I believe it is a personal decision that should be left to the women and their doctors.”

7) “I’m very liberal when it comes to health care. I believe in universal health care.”

8) “The Canadian plan also helps Canadians live longer and healthier than Americans… We need, as a nation, to reexamine the single-payer plan.”

9) “By imposing a one-time 14.25 percent net-worth tax on the richest individuals and trusts, we can put America on sound financial footing for the next century.”

10) “I think he [Obama] has a chance to go down as a great president.”
