Neocon 'Godfather' Warns Against "Too Much Transparency" In Government
Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,
Although he’s attempted to distance himself from it in recent years, there is little doubt about the role American political scientist, Francis Fukuyama, has played in popularizing the cancerous ideology know as neo-conservatism.
In case you harbor any doubts, he was one of the signatories to Bill Kristol’s infamous open letter to George W. Bush on September 20, 2001, which amongst other things, argued for military involvement in Iraq. A move that ultimately manifested in 2003, and represents one of the greatest foreign policy blunders in U.S. history. Here’s the Iraq section from that letter, signed by Mr. Fukuyama:
We agree with Secretary of State Powell’s recent statement that Saddam Hussein “is one of the leading terrorists on the face of the Earth….” It may be that the Iraqi government provided assistance in some form to the recent attack on the United States. But even if evidence does not link Iraq directly to the attack, any strategy aiming at the eradication of terrorism and its sponsors must include a determined effort to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq. Failure to undertake such an effort will constitute an early and perhaps decisive surrender in the war on international terrorism. The United States must therefore provide full military and financial support to the Iraqi opposition. American military force should be used to provide a “safe zone” in Iraq from which the opposition can operate. And American forces must be prepared to back up our commitment to the Iraqi opposition by all necessary means.
Of course, what Mr. Fukuyama is most famous for, is the ridiculous assertion in his book, The End of History and the Last Man, that the worldwide spread of liberal democracies and free market capitalism of the West and its lifestyle may signal the end point of humanity’s sociocultural evolution and become the final form of human government.
Not only is such a concept infantile on it’s face, but it has already been proven completely wrong. Not only have all Western liberal democracies morphed into grotesque neo-feudal, surveillance state panopticon oligarchies since he wrote the book, but we are seeing a dramatic spread of ISIS throughout the Middle East, ironically birthed from the unnecessary war he encouraged.
I still don’t know why Mr. Fukuyama is celebrated, other than perhaps to serve as some flimsy celebrity-intellectual backing for the status quo’s favorite pastimes — war mongering and authoritarianism.
In case you still harbor any doubts about who this guy is, and where he is coming from, he recently wrote an Op-ed in the Financial Times arguing that too much government transparency is a bad thing.
It is clear that there are vast areas in which modern governments should reveal more. Edward Snowden’s revelations of eavesdropping by the National Security Agency has encouraged belief that the US government has been not nearly transparent enough. But is it possible to have too much transparency? The answer is clearly yes: demands for certain kinds of transparency have hurt government effectiveness, particularly with regard to its ability to deliberate.
The problem with the Freedom of Information Act is different. It was meant to serve investigative journalists looking into abuses of power. But today a large number of FOIA requests are filed by corporate sleuths trying to ferret out secrets for competitive advantage, or simply by individuals curious to find out what the government knows about them. The FOIA can be “weaponised”, as when the activist group Judicial Watch used it to obtain email documents on the Obama administration’s response to the 2012 attack on the US compound in Benghazi.
In Europe, where there is no equivalent to the FACA or the Sunshine Act, governments can consult citizens’ groups more flexibly. There is, of course, a large and growing distrust of European institutions by citizens. But America’s experience suggests that greater transparency requirements do not necessarily lead to more trust in government.
Oh yes Francis, and look how well Europe has turned out.

..better not run into me in a dark alley.
er, I mean I heartily disagree.
FU Kristol... and the Yellen you rode in on!
This is exactly what an asshole who worships Satan is supposed to say.
< Foreign policy blunder
< Business opportunity of a lifetime
As a result of the War on Iraq the Iraqi Central Bank was handed over to J.P. Morgan to run and the vast majority of the Iraqi oil feilds are now operated or owned (Kurdistan) by foreign corporations. Ironically for some reason the citizens of Iran themselves were against their 'elected' leaders original neoliberal plans to sell it all off.

Altho there is DMT, but its illegal in the U.S. have to go to mexico...what gives the fuckers the right to ban shit such as marijuana, LSD, DMT, Ibogaine etc...but force vaccines and pharma drugs that make people crazy and kill people...I mean truly, WTF? Time to drink lots of water so the flouride will calm and dumb me down and sterilize me....the only thing good about flouride in the water is I can fuck a girl and not have to worry about getting her pregnant. Sorry for the rant, havnt taken my flouride and anti depressants today.
Your cynical sarcasm isn't well executed, but You're entitled to rant as uncoordinated as you'd like until the local swat kicks your door down for being beligerant on an anti-government website. :p
The boy would be hawking flawed diamonds at a third rate store if he weren't an I.Q. 95 shill for the Kleptoligarchy.
Written by Kristol just a week after 9/11. Transparency would have revealed the clear neocon involvement in 9/11, so naturally they are going to caution against too much openness, too much truth.
Those neocons warmongers are behind all these troubles in the Middle East and in the process are ruining America>>

When your country is a fascist, police state masquerading as a democracy. transparency is not recommended.
The Deep State runs everything in America since at least Nov 22, 1963. The NSA spies on the Supreme Court, Congress and the White House and you.
The most extraordinary passage in the memo requires that the Israeli spooks “destroy upon recognition” any communication provided by the NSA “that is either to or from an official of the US government.” It goes on to spell out that this includes “officials of the Executive Branch (including the White House, Cabinet Departments, and independent agencies); the US House of Representatives and Senate (members and staff); and the US Federal Court System (including, but not limited to, the Supreme Court).”
The stunning implication of this passage is that NSA spying targets not only ordinary American citizens, but also Supreme Court justices, members of Congress and the White House itself. One could hardly ask for a more naked exposure of a police state.

Essay: Anatomy of the Deep State
There is the visible government situated around the Mall in Washington, and then there is another, more shadowy, more indefinable government that is not explained in Civics 101 or observable to tourists at the White House or the Capitol. The former is traditional Washington partisan politics: the tip of the iceberg that a public watching C-SPAN sees daily and which is theoretically controllable via elections. The subsurface part of the iceberg I shall call the Deep State, which operates according to its own compass heading regardless of who is formally in power.
http://billmoyers.com/2014/02/21/anatomy-of-the-deep-state/
Who rules America? The secret collaboration of the military, the intelligence and national security agencies, and gigantic corporations in the systematic and illegal surveillance of the American people reveals the true wielders of power in the United States. Telecommunications giants such as AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, and Internet companies such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter, provide the military and the FBI and CIA with access to data on hundreds of millions of people that these state agencies have no legal right to possess.
Congress and both of the major political parties serve as rubber stamps for the confluence of the military, the intelligence apparatus and Wall Street that really runs the country. The so-called “Fourth Estate”—the mass media—functions shamelessly as an arm of this ruling troika.

The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it

I like it, & I'm gonna use it
Panipticon, "The concept of the design is to allow a single watchman to observe (-opticon) all (pan-) inmates of an institution without the inmates being able to tell whether or not they are being watched. Although it is physically impossible for the single watchman to observe all cells at once, the fact that the inmates cannot know when they are being watched means that all inmates must act as though they are watched at all times, effectively controlling their own behaviour constantly."
Just as the fake bullshit hysteria and fake leaks that big brother is watching ALL of your keystrokes (as if they have the man power to do fuck all about it and they know it and No I don't condone governments spying on their own citizens) we are led to believe that they are and we self police.
Brilliant
I think may go out and shoot a street camera just to prove the point.
Best to keep it under tight wraps. Good point.
All these pigs should be flown to Bagdad and released on to the streets. We will of course give ample advance notice. Let's see how many Iraqi's will embrace them and how many will tear them to shreds. This should include all the architects of this collosal war crime.
Still can't get over Krauthammer, Kristoll et al spouting off about this or that on TV on a almost daily basis. They were completely wrong. Fuck these Zionists.
The FOIA can be “weaponised”, as when the activist group Judicial Watch used it to obtain email documents on the Obama administration’s response to the 2012 attack on the US compound in Benghazi.
That is a bad thing?
But America’s experience suggests that greater transparency requirements do not necessarily lead to more trust in government.
Whaaaaat? we have little or no transparency in government. Wow, we have FOIA - great, but if it's denied or takes years to get the information - then its worthless.
Governments only real fear i being caught.
'If you've done nothing wrong, you've nothing to fear' etc.
i see your avatar from the "Russian Sleep Experiments" I viewed on youtube -
that was probably the most horrific, gruesome & terrifying writing I have ever listened to....
and it's a true story. 1949 The Russians were experimenting with an amphetamine gas, and offered two prisoners freedom if they would just live for 30 days in a locked cell while breathing this air mixed with the amphetamine gas. I'll leave it there.... they didn't make it to anywhere near 30 days, iirc....eating each others faces off!
But America’s experience suggests that greater transparency requirements do not necessarily lead to more trust in government.
And could that be because of what that transparency revealed?
I dunno "Mr. Fukuyama" the internal offhand babblings of Ginsberg, Kagan and Roberts might be very enlightening.
ZWO swine.
We developed an on-line gamma monitoring technique that we put around our nuclear stations in Canada and wanted to let the public view the data in real time. Transparancy times 10!! The asshole americans hired to help run the the company nicked it due to their secret military mindset. Not on their watch. Heavens if Canada did it then their anti-nukes back home would be clamouring for the same thing. Horrors!!
You damned war mongering Canadian soot coverd pots, need not besmirch our 'Merikan kettle.
Fuku-yuma? Fuku-jitsu? What the hell kind of non-gentile name is that?*
*Props to Gen. 'Buck' Turgidson.
You would think that after all the human suffering caused by the neocons' paranoid fantasies, Kristol & Co. would express some sort of remorse, or contrition, or even a simple apology, but no. With the possible exception of Colin Powell, not one of the architects of the disaster has manned up and admitted the obvious. On the contrary, most of them say they would do it all again in just the same way---as if that proved that they couldn't have been wrong.
And now they're banging the drum for war against Iran. These people should be under a doctor's care, not anywhere near the levers of power.
im pretty sure they are all candidates for Lobotomies-or preferably the Guilotine
They do not apologise because it did not go wrong. Everything worked out well for Israel.
the elite are always selling some form of propaganda to brainwashed americans....right now it is low-interest economic propaganda...12 years ago it was war propaganda....and of there we have now had decades of anti-white/pro-nonwhite/pro-immigration multiculturalism propaganda..
education IS propaganda.
I was in favor of invading and throwing out the Baathists on a strictly geostrategic premise . What was the gross failure of leadership was GW's bipartisan submission to the Dems insisting nation building was a moral responsibility after reports of museum thefts and zoo animals starving. It was that easy to change from military mission accomplishment to VietNam styled nation building and the resultant political defeat so often cited as proof of the original sin. Bases along the Iranian border was what was planned...I know massive down votes, but consider the Slav...CAIR sources...
If you challenge me on the perversion of Republicanism, I'll rather quickly concede the fig leaf isn't even worth donning.
Occupation was not an afterthought. The second targets (after C&C infrastructure) in Iraq were the oil fields - not to disable, but to occupy and exploit. Not an accident, not an afterthought, but executed with considerable malice aforethought (though with fatal flaws in execution).
SCOTUS is so drugged-up it would be laughable to watch their catnaping-drooling-feebleness sessions! re

Truly a descpicable man. If he wants to see Pakistanis get killed, as he so clearly does, he should grow a pair, fly over there, and do it himself. He's an armchair warrior...the worst kind of coward.
The war on Iraq has cost US taxpayers circa $ 2 trillion; long term costs are estimated to be $6 trillion. One of the first things President Bush did following his invasion and occupation of Iraq was to dismantle the Iraqi military. A decade later we see the consequence of this- a large contingent of ISIS/ISIL/Daesh forces are former members of the Iraqi military. Francis Fukuyama, along with his neoconservative colleagues in the Bush II administration were major proponents of the war on Iraq, entirely based on lies and fabrications. The 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq may well be the biggest military/ economic disaster in world history. Despite this, Francis Fukuyama is still invited to contribute op-ed pieces for major media outlets. Is something wrong with the picture?
Don't forget about the rather large surge promoted by the current TOTUS in Afghanistan, not only costing as much on a monthly basis for months on end as Iraqi operations, but the thousands of KIA/WIA.
That can't be true as we heard nothing on the evening news about casualties in the Afghan war, our soldiers or collaterals! Nor did we hear of any collateral damage in Libya, or even Syria where we have been supplying "moderate" rebels for a number of years now.
Obama truly is a champion of peace as I have heard nothing at all on the evening news that would make me believe anything less.
When ISIS/ISIL/Daesh have the same strategic goals as US foreign policy, one can assume only one thing...
Stupid is ubiquitously pervasive these days: Economics - Economic Theory(s) is nothing but a primitive superstition Dogma of a politicalized Medeival Cult and equates precisiely with the Hero of the "neocons" Ivan Trotsky's Bolshevik pseudo-ideological nonsense and illiterate clap-trap and foul tripe.
It is clear that such Collectives as the "neocons" and all that they are attached to and of, breeds nothing but emotional instability and irrationality as they live in a constant state of fear and fear making and hence cannot grow and evolve ie mature from the proto-Human stage to the Human Being promise of Life Principle. Scientifically this state is well established by Wilhem Reich and in recent times by Bruce Lipton in his Spontaneous Evolution.
Ignorant we are born, BUT staying ignorant all your life is hard work - BUT that work in which the "neocons" excel.
Is it not clear that there is - this very day - a global collapse upon the face of the Earth? Is it not clear that Economic Theory(s) is invalid? and clearly has failed miserably? Is it not clear that the Central Banker Economists are favouring only the Banker community at the cost to everybody else apart from the cronies? And indeed it is blatantly clear that incompetence and dishonesty and sociopathic behaviours are the prime skill sets of those that would rule - hence, with the tiniest elements of humananity that has emerged, secrecy - as matters of national security - nought but covers their shame.

MANHOOD of HUMANITY
BY
ALFRED KORZYBSKI
AUTHOR OF SCIENCE AND SANITY
An Introduction to Non-aristotelian Systems
Humanity cannot afford to follow the crazed and insane peddlers of fear, genocide and priests of nuclear war; any war - reason, ethics and science must take precedence to emotional irrationalities which the "neocons" and their ilk represent.
Hence, the crisis and devastations upon our planet today represent a "leadership" failure where "leadership" and their irrational dogma has wrought them not irrelevant, but a lesson to be learnt - but learnt quickly - as nuclear war is being considered under their fear of being replaced and made redundant.
Secrecy in government is unecessary, if that government is being carried out on behalf of the whole of Humanity and not just a few highly influencial groups of self-interests.Secrecy is the tool of self-interests.
Hasn't the World had enough of these "neocons" and their wars, genocide, murder? You Americans live in fear - and that "fear" that you should "fear" is nothing but the "neocons" within.
The "neocons" are your enemy. They are the enemy of Humanity as a whole
Let Humanity Rise to Reason, and Peace in Respect.

You have to admit it's a pretty god damn accurate description of what Bill Kristol's corpus is probably made of and ALL those who work for him!
Papa Irving must be so very proud!!!
What amazes me is just how readily the financial sociopaths can find these sociopathic agents to do their bidding.
Probably more than you want to know but there is a reason for that. Not having to bother with human empathy frees up a lot of brain capacity for other things. Psychopaths are experts and picking out their own kind as well as victims, they measure you up as predator or prey very quickly.
I had an excellent and rare research video on my last computer that I lost but basically what they did in this study was have a group verified psychopaths and a group of normal men try to determine things about people. They hid an item on a guy and instructed him to lie about having the item, they aslo had numerous men claim the same. Then they had countless women walk infront of the men individually and asked them to pick out which ones had a history of being sexually abused.
Most of the psychpaths scored 100%, the normal men did terrible in comparison. Psychopaths also tend to surround themselves with narcissists because they are easy to manipulate. Long story short, they should be able to identify eachother very easily.
Ordinary psychopaths and sociopaths exploit ordinary people. Top grade psychopaths exploit lower level psychopaths and sociopaths.
True, and the more human empathy an individual has the more likely they will be seen as prey.
Everyone is a whore at the right price.
Kristols runs these dopey Cruises were you can interact with the Weekly Standard Staff - was thinking about showing up for one and just flat out knocking the Mfucker out when i ran into him!
Neocon Godfather?
Francis Fucktard?
Is that sort of like Tea Party Rock Star?
I thought Norman Podhoretz was the neocon "Godfather".
Not that it would make much difference. The message is the same.
Francis Fukuyama is not jewish -
how do all you blindly fanatical jew haters explain this ????
Fukuyama is a Senior Fellow at the Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law.
The director of this center is Larry Diamond, a well known Zionist.
http://cddrl.fsi.stanford.edu/people/leadership
From jweekly (from an article describing the unsuccessful attempt to block the Israeli divestment movment at Stanford)
http://www.jweekly.com/article/full/74143/stanford-professors-take-stand-against-divestment/
"Four Jewish faculty members worked together to draft the statement: Zipperstein, Avner Greif, an economics professor, Larry Marshall, a law professor, and Larry Diamond, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution". Why would Fukuyama want to piss his boss off?
The Stanford student movement to boycott Israel passed:
http://www.timesofisrael.com/stanford-senate-passes-israel-divestment-measure/
The neocon/Fukuyama 'end of history' fantasy future for the globe is over. At least for now. Fukuyama and his supporters in the banking world have pushed the notion that 'democracy' implies that the rich must be able to influence the politicans in proportion to their wealth. I have no truck with the rich, but I do have against the bankers who essentially completely OWN our money. It is OUR money, not their money, as it is OUR future labor not their own labor or that of their depositiors, that we get as a 'loan' from them.
The Rothschilds financed and created Israel. They have allowed Israel to have hundreds of nuclear weapons and to attack it's neighbors with impunity. They have been able to silence all dissent in the MSM and in our body politic.
I don't care what religion anyone in, or what fantasy figure they want to worship. But no one has a right to create OUR money and the fact that a clique of bankers has had this right for centuries in the West has resulted in endless wars all for the extension of the power and influence of this despicable clique.
Um,
They? allowed?
Are you serious?
You mean those Rennaisance Italian bankers?
Fukuyama will write only that which will keep him in the good graces of his Zionist boss Larry Diamond. I doubt Fukuyama feels any affinity with the common man. He is a vapid and unoriginal pro-oligarch apologist who will be consigned to the dustbin of history along with his 'famous' book.
THOSE Italian bankers you refer to Shovelhead, whether Jewish or not, lent out real money, i.e. GOLD and if they weren't paid back, they lost their gold, i.e., their actual wealth. So they thought up a better scheme for themselves by which to not only pilfer the gold, but control all the levers of political power.
Zionist bankers such as the Rothschilds, stateless by choice for centuries for they refused to consider themselves to be patriots of the countries they were born in, decided to carve out Israel which they have gifted with hundreds of nukes. These bankers have never had any intention of lending out real money so they bribed our politicians to exchange OUR real money for THEIR paper money which they lend out at interest, as if they had to actually work for it!. They pilfered our gold in the process and bankrupted industry after industry so that they could take over complete control of the economy. Zionists stole nearly 800 lbs of 80% enriched uranium from the US:
http://www.lobelog.com/israels-stolen-nuclear-materials-why-it-still-matters/
But Israel is being isolated and will end up in the dustbin of history as another failed religious state. Israel has no regional allies other than the corrupt Saudi regime and the shaky Turkish government. Saudi Arabia is toast in Yemen. Turkey is going nuts over the Kurds. Syria has survived. Iran has won recognition. Netanyahu is angry, very angry. As a sop, Obama gave Netanyahu Pollard who backstabbed his country of birth, gave all of our top military secrets and spy networks to the Israel government who in turn exchanged them for Soviet jews. Netanyanhu doesn't realize even, or perhaps even care to realize, just how angry and betrayed the US military feels about this turn of events.
The boycott and divest movement is gaining traction all over the US. Israel, is just another anti-western, anti-modern, religious state, and it will not be able to resist the tide of history
Explain the Chesed Gomel incident shovelhead if you care to respond to this shovelhead. What level of despicable treason does this amount to between so called allies?

Speaking of NeoCons that serpent Rumsfeld has a history that never ceases to amaze. When he was the CEO of Searle between 1977-85 they manufactured Aspertame, once studies began to show that Aspertame was some seriously lethal shit they changed the name to Nutrasweet and kept rolling. Searle also produced the first birthcontrol pill. Rumsfeld cashed out and sold Searle to Monsanto. He is also tied into the manufacture of a wide variety of vaccines.
So my question is, how much money did this bastard make off of the anthrax vaccines and swine flu panics that resulted in the government purchasing tons of vaccine? While he had been the former Secretary of Defense no less!
By the way, if you take fiber use a brand other then Metamucil those bastards made that too.
And I say Treason.
I say Sedition.
I say having no term limits, and having gift-giving, campaign contributions over $1 dollar and having Soft Money is Oppression, Sedition, and Treason.
These things we hold as "Teeth's Truths"!!

Money is speech. If you believe that limiting campaign "contributions" to $1, then by definition you believe in the government control of political speech, plain and simple.
And they need to be able to do so without donning a straitjacket of rules specifying how they must talk to each other, and to citizens.
Wait I thought legistators create nothing but a straitjacket of rules for citiizens to specify how to talk to each other and to unelected/elected officials .

Hey, I'm with ol' Franky on this one.
I mean, who would hire a babysitter to watch your kids and then want to know the kids tried to burn down the house while you were gone.
It would just upset you.
Better you did not know.
In a normal "society" that wasn't in the last gangrenous stages of bloated gaseous corruption a fool like Franky Fukyoushima would be a circus clown and not a raving loony darling of the gone-to-seed mutts that ordinary "folks" have to listen to.
It's very arguable that "transparency" in government is in fact the CAUSE of corruption. The crux of that argument is that the average citizen isn't going to keep a record of every single public statement and vote made by their elected officials, but the lobbyists who pay generous kickbacks to them DEFINITELY are paying attention. If you have a politician bought and paid for, you want to make sure they're parroting the proper talking points. Take away that window into government, and legislators might actually be able to govern on principle, and not on bribes and kickbacks.
Or so the argument goes...
https://youtu.be/6l5SVpFPxDY
Real transparency comes when recordings and transcripts of conversations among politicians, which they expected not to be released, become available. With Johnson, Nixon, and others after what they reveal is immensely shallow egomaniacs with the basest of motivations. The only active variable was intelligence combined with a sociopathic drive for power. Our leaders are smarter than the average bear to be sure but all to often they are much worse human beings whose failings are hidden by handlers and PR specialist combined with the willful ignorance of a public hopeful that their betters have their interests at heart.
So the government of the people, by the people, and for the people don't believe the people should know what the government is doing.
Yet, these same people believe the government of the people, by the people, and for the people need to know what each individual person is doing in order to maintain security.
Transparency of individuals - good.
Transparency of government - bad.
Thanks, got it. Have a great weekend everybody.
