Self-Immolation Comes To Ohio
While we have grown used to reading of Asian citizens setting themselves on fire in protest (most recently here), news that a 58-year-old man lit himself on fire in front of Ohio City Hall in Columbus is shocking. There are no details as to the reason for this sad act, but as ABC6 reports, the man has been transported to OSU Medical Center in critical condition.
Police are investigating the incident as a possible suicide attempt, according to local TV-station WSYX.

The bridge of choice for this in San Diego is over a major freeway. Bodies have crashed through windows and run over by numerous cars. Some just poise themselves on the fence, debating the idea, closing the freeway for hours. I've been 6 hours late getting home. It's frustrating and sad at the same time.

I've always found it disturbing that attempting suicide is against the law. It's yet another law whereby the State lays claim to each individual as property.

Once you have the IDGAF attitude in its purest form, there are too many things you can get done with it besides lighting yourself on fire.

Those who likely dismiss such an ultimate act of public protest of a human being, forced to act when everything else failed, should know that this is most horrifying death that you can imagine. Even beheading is no that horrible mostly since it is swift if done right.
Problem is that if you light yourself on fire in the public place there is 90% chance that somebody will put the fire out. If you burned less the 50% of your body (and your immune system with it) you are cripple, legal drug addict, dealing with pain that never stops for those few years you may have left.
If you burned between than 50%-70% you die in the mater of weeks, if 90%, in days all in awful agonizing pain felt even under heavy sedation, watching and smelling your body decayed and ultimately you are put in coma since body immune system can't fight infection that eats you alive.
And do not give me the nutcase shit propaganda since such horrifying decision could be very rational one and it is always very convenient to call somebody crazy just not to think about why? Just to refuse to deal with the traumatic situation.
