China Tests Most Dangerous Nuclear Weapon of All Time

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Zachary Zeck via The National Interest,

China conducted a flight test of its new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) this month.

This week, Bill Gertz reported that earlier this month, China conducted the fourth flight test of its DF-41 road-mobile ICBM.

“The DF-41, with a range of between 6,835 miles and 7,456 miles, is viewed by the Pentagon as Beijing’s most potent nuclear missile and one of several new long-range missiles in development or being deployed,” Gertz reports.

He goes on to note that this is the fourth time in the past three years that China has tested the DF-41, indicating that the missile is nearing deployment. Notably, according to Gertz, in the latest test China shot two independently targetable warheads from the DF-41, further confirming that the DF-41 will hold multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRV).

As I’ve noted before, China’s acquisition of a MIRVed capability is one of the most dangerous nuclear weapons developments that no one is talking about.

MIRVed missiles carry payloads of several nuclear warheads each capable of being directed at a different set of targets. They are considered extremely destabilizing to the strategic balance primarily because they place a premium on striking first and create a “use em or lose em” nuclear mentality.

Along with being less vulnerable to anti-ballistic missile systems, this is true for two primary reasons. First, and most obviously, a single MIRVed missile can be used to eliminate numerous enemy nuclear sites simultaneously. Thus, theoretically at least, only a small portion of an adversary’s missile force would be necessary to completely eliminate one’s strategic deterrent. Secondly, MIRVed missiles enable countries to use cross-targeting techniques of employing two or more missiles against a single target, which increases the kill probability.

In other words, MIRVs are extremely destabilizing because they make adversary’s nuclear arsenals vulnerable to being wiped out in a surprise first strike. In the case of China, Beijing’s acquisition of a MIRVed capability is likely to force India to greatly increase the size of its nuclear arsenal, as well as force it to disperse its nuclear weapons across a greater sway of land to prevent China from being able to conduct a successful decapitation strike. Such a development in Delhi would upset the Indo-Pakistani nuclear balance, likely prompting Islamabad to take corresponding actions of its own.

China’s acquisition of a MIRVed capability is also likely to upset the strategic balance with Russia. As Moscow’s conventional military capabilities have eroded since the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia has leaned more heavily on nuclear weapons for its national defense. It therefore seeks to maintain a clear nuclear advantage over potential adversaries like China. Beijing’s acquisition of MIRVed missiles threatens to erode this advantage.

As Gertz’s notes, the U.S. intelligence community believes that the DF-41 will ultimately be able to carry up to 10 nuclear warheads. Such a development would likely force China to increase the size of its nuclear arsenal. To date, China and India (as well as the world’s other nuclear powers) have maintained relatively small nuclear arsenals compared with Russia and the United States.

The introduction of MIRVed technologies into the Asian nuclear balance may render this no longer true. For this reason— along with its long-range and solid fuel—the DF-41 is the most dangerous nuclear weapon in China’s arsenal.

And they got the MIRV technology from Loral Space Systems sold it to them once they got an export license for the technology following a sizable donation by Bernie Schwartz to the Clinton crime family.

And they are currently involved in 14 territorial disputes:

Well, let's see here.

China has missles only a select few in the West have, so what?  You can bet your sweet ass that those ICBMs the US has stashed in Germany can reach China too.

It does change the table because now you can't bully China, that's what this fear is about.

India is not interested in enlarging it's nuclear arsenal.  Make it more advanced yes, more of'em? No. China knows they can punk India, they do it on a regular basis, they have been doing the "Isreal Creep" too ya know.

Odd article.  With already the amount of Nukes in China's inventory, it already poses a "threat" to Russia, USA and everyone else.  MIRV just makes it more efficient and well, no more dangerous than before.  While Russia/Soviet Union and US has been experimenting and building MIRV's for so long, China is really just getting into it, and thus slow to catch up.  Russia is no more afraid of it now than it was before, and Russia's armed forces have developed farther and better in the last couple of years compared to most.  What Russia does have, and US have over China is tactical nukes, something that can be deployed without reverting to nearly every ICBM country to launching their arsenal at each other.  China on the other hand relies it as purely a deterrent.

A very odd article!

The last I heard - like yesterday and every day going back at least five years - Russia, China, India, etc. have been drawing closer.  Has the author never heard of BRICS?

I've also reliably heard that the Russian military is no longer run down

In my youth I had a plan for world peace. Give everyone their own nuclear missile. At the appointed time we could fire them at the part of the world we hated most. I always figured to use mine on Paris, France.

When we were done the world would finally be at peace...

This is the trashiest propaganda I've yet seen in ZH.  The article says nothing about:

1. MIRV's were first introduced by the USA, which has plenty of them.

2. China is not primarily worried about Russia or India.  China knows its real enemy is the USA.  It's the USA that is trying to undermine the Chinese State in any way it can.  It's the USA that contemplated at least twice nuclear strikes against China.  It's the USA that is circling China now.  China wants to be free and left alone, and American policies are forcing it, not to acquire a first-strike capability, but to acquire meaningful detterrence.

I know nothing about the author nor about the publication that miscalls itself "The National Interest."  Here is a little exercise for truth-seekers of ZH:  Find out the source of funding of that publication.  If you look closely enough (I predict) you will find that the banking-military complex is behind it.

The U.S. Considered An "Accidental" Bombing Of China's Nuke Facilities

Recently declassified documents obtained by the National Security Archive reveal that the Kennedy and Johnson Administrations were considering military action to prevent or delay China from building nuclear weapons — even if that meant working with Moscow to stage an accidental bombing.

if history is any indication we have no idea how the big powers are really aligned. for example, take nazi germany, soviet union and great britain. while the former had molotov-ribbentrop pact, the latter was considering nazi germany as the front-line bulwark against the spread of communism in europe. so until germany was not using force, nazis had british government's full indulgence (7 points) regarding austria, czechoslovakia, poland, and danzig. of course the public had no idea about this pact or the 7 terms until few decades later, except for the few trial-balloons in the media, in the house of commons, or in the chatham house. of course nazis had no idea what democratic government, free press or public opinion meant, so they just went on to show the world they didn't have to ask anyone's permission. that was the reason chamberlain had to change his stance towards nazis.

when the US has been dealt with, china will take a serious look around who its neighbors are. allies don't tend to remain allies after the common enemy has been eliminated, i.e. cold war.

Arrogant Chinese despots still hold the record for numbers of their own citizens murdered. Does not matter what anybody does, Murdering Chinese criminals will continue to add to their mass death tolls by any means available. And the means are growing. These are not your regular tyrannical criminals, the Chinese are mass murderers on a scale that boggles the mind.

I'm not trying to absolve the progressive murderers currently usurping the government of the USA by any means, But it just does not matter what the USA does, Chinese criminals kill millions, it is what they do. It is what they have always done, one despotic regime after another, for thousands of years.

So why would they develop a MIRV if they was all friendly and shit?

Please take the Chinese cock out of your mouth, it is quite disgusting.

Touched a nerve? You will be interested in some numbers then. Let's look, ok? Gee, where is the USA on the list that has China's bloody despots at the top?

Check out the chart here, war dead compared to Chinese despot murder, wow man the Chinese despots are some sick motherfuckers man. And you don't like that shit exposed, do ya?

http://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/SOD.FIG23.2.GIF

The Chinese despot stupid, it burns and kills ten of millions of Chinese citizens. Nobody murders moar of their own people than the Chinese government. And now they want to murder internationally. Check here for the Chinese plan to nuke the USA, several large Chinese despot controlled media outlets simultaneously published long, identical articles about Chinese nuclear strikes on the U.S. West Coast.

http://dailyreckoning.com/what-to-do-when-china-nukes-the-u-s/

I am hoping the the good people of China can overthrow the murdering Chinese despots and stop the killing. But as you can see the murdering chinese despots will kill as many as it takes to stay on top their piles of money. Americans face the same murder on a smaller scale, with murdering progressive despots killing American citizens with an illegal alien invasion. I hope these murdering progressive despots will be overthrown too. Pray they do not massacre like the Chinese did.

Go back a few years and you will find articles by Zachary Zeck or Keck appearing regularly at ZH via a site ironically named, "The Diplomat". I traced the outfit to a room in a Japanese city (Tokyo or Kyoto, I can't remember) where "The Diplomat" constantly churned out articles that were laughably designed to stir up animosity between almost everyone. Seriously, they just post articles to incite hate and mistrust between nations every time with the flimsiest crap you can imagine.

It's an obvious propaganda outfit probably funded by the neocons/zionists to foment war as the opportunities present themselves. I call this guy, "Zippity Zionist Zachary Zeck", simply because I like the alliteration and he's a psychopath. You really ought to read some of the shit he has written. He has been exposed to death at ZH already, but it's always good to see what the psychos are selling to determine where they might take us next. Before you balk at the Zionist label for "The Diplomat" and "The National Interest", have a good look at its owners and editors like Jacob Heilbrunn. Then read an analysis of how neoconservatism is a zionist construct (featuring Victoria Nuland's family ties).

As for this article, redundant superlatives about nukes in the headline aside, the bloke conveniently forgets to mention that just 3 days ago, Barkdale AFB and Vandenburg AFB fired off an ICBM (Minuteman III) towards China in a 4200 mile trajectory that impacted near the Marshall Islands in the Pacific.

I haven't seen a Zionist Zachary article for ages and it's good to see that he hasn't lost his touch. What I find amusing are the people who are enticed by these glossy sites and taken in by the warmongering bastards who waste their lives inciting hate between nations and individuals. In this nutjob's head, acquiring the old MIRV technology equates to enmity between China and Russia, as well as the US. Because you know, having nukes in the world by dozens of countries that could destroy all life on earth is not enough of a problem, we should have hysterics over the different flavours of these evil weapons of mass destruction.

BS zio article... as if USSA doesn't have nukes.... I am sure China is happy about their new weapon

O_M

It is BS because the place where a nuclear war is about to start will be by the same folks who tried it out 70 years ago and  forced the Russians, Chinese, Indians and everyone else for that matter through it's actions into an arms race that hasn't stopped since.

Nobody who reads this with half a brain is worried about what the Russians or Chinese might do.

It's the "white chimp" in the oval office who is alone isolated and a delusional psychopath who will start it before anyone does.  And Ukraine is the "lit fuse" courtesy of Saudi Arabia and Israel!

Very good chance that the U.S. will attempt something perhaps conventional which will inevitably escalate for obvious reasons, or we'll have an MH-17 event only this time with a small nuclear warhead in Western Ukraine that will be blamed on the Russians (of course again).

Between Soros foundation(s) and the Nuland/Kagan project too much money has been invested and lost.

And with the announcement made by Kerry about the U.S. losing it's "reserve currency" dominance what we're witnessing  with the market(s) this week is all the shit that falls into place before they take you to war!

Let's hope and pray that that those Air Force and Navy boyz and girlz with the key(s) pull a Stanislav Petrov when they are given the "green light" by the new hire that replaced 25 and 30 year career strategic command personnel and the monkey in the oval office that has been instrumental in greasing the skids to make that "green light" possible!

"MIRVs are extremely destabilizing because they make adversary's nuclear arsenals vulnerable to being wiped out in a surprise first strike.

A SURPRISE FIRST STRIKE

The only excuse for a first strike is to be sure the weaker adversary gets some missiles off before the other delivers a first strike on you.

If Russia were to deliver a first strike on America, it would not deceive itself into thinking that it could eliminate all of America's response.  And that Russia would escape without damage

That's what MAD was all about.  The anti-ballistic missile treaty of 1972 guaranteed a nuclear holocaust.

Then Bush came to office and the neocons developed their first strike plan.  A plan which they believed would destroy so much of Russia's nuclear response that the Homeland had nothing to fear.  The plan began with the US withdrawal from the ABM treaty in 2002.  This allowed the crazies who were in charge of the asylum to begin the missile defense shield and Patriot missiles went up along Russia's western border from Poland on the Baltic to Romania on the Black Sea.

With potential missiles in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey perhaps Ukraine and Kazakhstan, one day the US could order a first strike and when Russia struggled to launch its response, NATO's Patriots ringing Russia would knock down any ICBM Russia might launch. The submarine and aircraft launched missiles could easily be hit by air, sea, and ground defenses.

Or so the neocons like Paul Wolfowitz thought.

And if they were wrong, so what, they'd be underneath a mountain in Colorado.

Milton Freidman's profit motive in action:

If I manufacture my product in China I can gain a competitive advantage.

I am losing profits as that firm manufacturing stuff in China is under-cutting our prices.

I must move my manufacturing to China.

Sometime later.

Everyone is manufacturing stuff in China and there is no competitive advantage.

China has become a new super-power.

There are no decent jobs left in the US, UK or Western Europe.

Domestic consumption and GDP fall.

The balance of power shifts from West to East through one businessman's short term increase in profit.

Not to mention decades of product development and manufacturing expertise handed to China on a plate.

The businessmen never did take into account China's lax attitude to intellectual property rights.

A statue of Milton Freidman is being erected in Tiananmen Square, one of the founding fathers of modern China.

I am sure the US did this in the 1970s/1980s with the Pershing II.

It all started here: IMF Extends SDR Valuation; Prolongs China’s Wait For Yuan Inclusion http://www.rttnews.com/2543123/imf-extends-sdr-valuation-prolongs-china-...

This pissed off China who showed who’s boss in currency land which absolutely freaked out the Yanks who used one of their tungsten space sabre’s to re-act in brute force with what they call ‘asymmetrical warfare’ creating an chemical disaster.

This then pissed off China even more which shows it’s ‘nuclear football’ in Cheney terms.

And to be honest, like Jim Rickards mentioned also ‘the chemical attack’ under the Headline: ‘Asymmetrical warfare’, it does look a bit like that here:

Rickards Financial Warfare is evident today in the Price of Oil, and Economic Sanctions in Europe against Russia.

Of course it doesn't apply to NASA space Contracts.

Oh, you mean the Cyanide at Tianjin is much too massive for Steel Manufacturing... coincidence that China is preparing for war against a superpower.

"... used to prepare acrylonitrile, which is used in the production of acrylic fibers, synthetic rubber, and plastics. Cyanides are employed in a number of chemical processes, including fumigation, case hardening of iron and steel, electroplating, and the concentration of ores."

"mining, Cyanide is mainly produced for the mining of gold and silver: It helps dissolve these metals and their ores."

As long as there are subs no first strike from ICBM´s is to be feared. No matter how you slice and dice it in case of a nucular war the world is gone...

Exactly. That's why this theory of 'use em or lose em' is so incredibly stupid. Nuclear subs alone have the capability to pulverize the world several times over and you can't target those, because they're ghosts. But, that's the thinking of the sociopaths that run things. God helps us.

For those that are interested in seeing what the destructive effects of nuclear weapons really are, the link below is to a site called nuclearsecrecy.com and their nuke simulation tool called "nukemap".

When you go to the link below you can set the location to be nuked along with things like the yield of the weapon, whether it is an air burst or ground burst, etc. and see what the results are.  Very interesting . . . and depressing.

I am by no means an expert in these matters, so correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a so called nuclear "first strike", for purposes of destroying your opponents nuclear arsenal, imposssible. If China, or Russia, launched a first strike, it would take the missiles anywhere from 15-30 minutes to reach most of their targets. That's more than enough time for the U.S. (or vise versa if the U.S. first strikes) to launch most or all of its missiles before they're destroyed. There is also the subs carrying nukes. Let's say 10 subs carrying 10 missiles with 10 warheads, that's 1,000 nukes right there. That alone is enough to wipe out every city of significant size on planet Earth. Where's the advantage? We all die regardless. MAD indeed.

Have you seen pics of Hindu gods & godesses , these generally have 4 arms or 4 heads.

After the global nuclear war , the surviving (if any) would produce people like that.

Imagine planet earth being inhabited by new races of such people we normal ppl will be called old fashioned and racists.
