Paul Craig Roberts: "America Is A Gulag"

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Paul Craig Roberts,

America’s First Black President is a traitor to his race and also to justice.

Obama has permitted the corrupt US Department of Justice (sic), over which he wields authority, to overturn the ruling of a US Federal Court of Appeals that prisoners sentenced illegally to longer terms than the law permits must be released once the legal portion of their sentence is served. The DOJ, devoid of all integrity, compassion, and sense of justice, said that “finality” of conviction was more important than justice.

Indeed, the US Justice (sic) Department’s motto is: “Justice? We don’t need no stinkin’ justice!”

Alec Karakatsanis, a civil rights attorney and co-founder of Equal Justice Under Law, tells the story here: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/18/opinion/president-obamas-department-of-injustice.html?_r=1

See also here: http://www.opednews.com/articles/Obama-s-DOJ-Perpetrates-In-by-Rob-Kall-Dept-Of-Justice-DoJ_Dept-Of-Justice-DoJ-Failures_Eric-Holder_Injustice-150820-644.html

The concept of “finality” was an invention of a harebrained Republican conservative academic lionized by the Republican Federalist Society. In years past conservatives believed—indeed, still do—that the criminal justice system coddles criminals by allowing too many appeals against their unlawful convictions. The appeals were granted by judges who thought that the system was supposed to serve justice, but conservatives demonized justice as something that enabled criminals. A succession of Republican presidents turned the US Supreme Court into an organization that only serves the interests of private corporations. Justice is nowhere in the picture.

Appeals Court Judge, James Hill, a member of the court that ruled that prisoners did not have to serve the illegal portion of their sentences, when confronted with the Obama/DOJ deep-sixing of justice had this to say:

“A judicial system that values finality over justice is morally bankrupt.”

Obama’s DOJ says that there are too many black prisoners illegally sentenced to be released without upsetting the crime-fearful white population. According to Obama’s Justice (sic) Department, the fears of brainwashed whites take precedence over justice.

Judge Hill said that the DOJ “calls itself, without a trace of irony, the Department of Justice.”

Judge Hill added: We used to call such systems as people sitting in prison serving sentences that were illegally imposed “gulags.” “Now we call them the United States.”

America is a gulag. We are ruled by a government that is devoid of all morality, all integrity, all compassion, all justice. The government of the United States stands for one thing and one thing only: Evil.

It is just as Chavez told the United Nations in 2006 referring to President George W. Bush’s address to the assembly the day before: “Yesterday, at this very podium, Satan himself stood speaking as if he owned the world. You can still smell the sulfur.”

If you are an American and you cannot smell the sulfur, you are tightly locked down in The Matrix. God help you. There is no Neo to rescue you. And you are too brainwashed and ignorant to be rescued by me.

You are part of the new Captive Nation.

"As Far as my Feet Will Carry Me" is a non-fiction book about a German officer who escaped a Soviet POW camp and walked into Turkey and made it back to Germany.  A good look inside POW camps.

So are all the dudes in the action movies that mesmerize us and swell our chests with the pride of our innate masculine moral courage and natural drive to heroic sacrifice when required, over and over and over again.

LOL.  Good thing we got the movies.  Oh, and the Second Amendment, too, bitchez.  LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

What a waste we and our country have become.

Actually they were. The Civil War was not about slavery as is commonly believed and promoted by the government and media.  It was fundamentally about State's Rights - whether America was to be a federation of independent states or a union of states ruled by a central government.  Tragic that the unionists won.  So when you read the Constitution (those who can read and those who are actually interested in it), the country described in that document bears little semblance to the country currently in control and the Supreme Court has made certain that all traces of the original spirit of the Constitution have been wiped clean.

Look, once convicted and imprisoned, that's money in the bank for all invovled.  I'm sure that financing is based on those convictions and there are probably derivatives as well.  Letting them leave early? That'll bring the system crashing down.

USA used to be one of the freest, richest countries on earth.  Not today, deekras (dears).  Today in many ways it is no different from  any other developing country, not only in freedom but in police shootings searches, capital movement, infrastructure, public services, etc.

The trouble is that USA propaganda machine is still busy telling the whole world that America is "paradise" when in fact it is more like hell for those that are not rich.  After 20 years of struggling we were lucky to get the opportunity to leave.

If you are planning to move there, DON'T!

True but USA was never THIS bad.   Now it is a shit hole,  pure and simple, with a few nice neighborhoods.  And it is getting worse. We are still in touch with friends there, and they ALL say the samething - that it is awful.  Andnow the USA government out-right LIES about their economic statistics and therefore is no different than China. Terrible!

"Dreary" is putting it mildly. We left in 2011.  My husband recently went back for a week on business. He said it was even worse than when we were there!  It is a really frightening place. So many of the restaurants we used to go to are closed and most do not have replacement restaurants.  We have both given up our green cards. Our sons,  when they are 21, will renounce their citizenships (although I told them that it was totally their call to do so or not).  We also have NO desire to return.  YUCK!  A totally over-rated nation if ever there was one.

I believe PCR uses the word Zionists, but he has certainly said that the Lobby basically controls US foreign policy in the Middle East.  Openly making such a statement is still not good for a career in US Public Life (as Pat Buchanan might say), but the facts are pretty much beyond dispute.

Okay, PCR, Stockman, et al all talk a good game. Brilliant about describing the problem. But when it comes to solutions, why are they clueless?

http://eagleonetowanta.com/

Perhaps they didn't get quite close enough to Colby, Casey, French, and Walters. Now Wanta was the super spook. He had backdoor access to the Oval Office. He counted tritium in the PRC. I'm sure neither Roberts or Stockman had in any way shape and/or form clearance at first to dealings of taking down the USSR, etc.

However, at least beginning in 2010, every swinging penis (and vagina) was informed. And I'm sure both Roberts and Stockman, et al got a whiff of this ..

That's a great idea because the only people who pay that fee are the rich folks who change their citizenship for tax reasons.  Well, sort of.

I'm not for taxes, but if they're gonna lay a heavy tax, lay it on the rich.  The US demands income tax of its citizens no matter where they live and no matter where they earned that income, more or less.  And if you're a rich celebrity, they can and will go after you for tax evasion, and they'll seize your bank accounts no matter where.

What is with the Paul Craig bandwagon anyway. You are running off readers with and I.Q. over room temperature. He is a career bureacrat, helped reagan kill over 60,0000 Mayan indians with the help of Israeli general Rios Montt, who by the way is being tried for war crimes in Guatemala. Can we pick it up around here? Worked in the treasury and thinks washington is printing the money. Why not reproduce Larry the cable guy articles or Joe the plumber?

Crippling court costs force poverty-stricken people to 'plead guilty to crimes they didn't commit' By: malterwitty
Tags:

Poverty-stricken people are being encouraged to plead guilty to crimes they did not commit out of fear they will face crippling costs imposed by new financial penalties, leading lawyers, magistrates and campaigners have warned.

Legal experts have called for an urgent review of the criminal courts charge, which has been compared to “18th-century” forms of justice after being implemented earlier this year.

The new levy was introduced by the former Justice Secretary, Chris Grayling, to make criminals pay for the upkeep of the courts. Because the charge can be up to 10 times higher if someone is found guilty after pleading innocence, critics say it is undermining the justice system by encouraging impoverished defendants to plead guilty even if they have done nothing wrong.

The sheep category I smile amusingly when they complain and as they ask why I am smiling at their hardship I just say "tough being a sheep ain't it"! Baaaaaa, baaaaaaaaaa.

Then you walk away leaving them to sort themselves out and you know full well they can't because the system they rely on so heavily was only ever built to incarcerate them not support them.

Bit like a FEMA camp realy, just add a couple of gas chambers and old Hitler is back if he ever actually left.

I have no knowledge of a country where justice still deserves that name. "Justice" does no longer exist - he/she who has the money rules. Judges are sold, politicians are even more sold and bankers rule. Live with it, be your own judge and executioner or start a revolution, there are no other options.

An unimpeachable Middle East source sends the following intelligence estimate:

“The delivery of six MIG 31 combat aircraft to the Syrian government in Damascus corresponds to the withdrawal by Germany, Spain, [and the US] of Patriot missile batteries from Turkey within the framework of NATO.[1] On this subject, there is a kind of cooperation between Moscow and Washington. The idea is to give the Syrian Arab Army the equipment required for a bombing campaign in northern Syria. Up until the present moment, the Syrian Arab Army’s aviation has been deterred from doing this by the Patriot missiles stationed in southern Turkey, and did not possess a sufficient number of combat aircraft able to operate at altitudes low enough to evade the surface to air missiles now in the possession of the jihadis. It is for this reason that the Syrian Air Force has not been capable of defending the Kurds in a city like Kobane.

This is the response of Putin and of Obama to the maneuvers carried out by General John Allen, who had gone off the reservation to stipulate an accord with Erdogan for a safe zone for rebels in Syria.

Obama is attempting to push ISIS [aka Daesh, ISIL, etc.] out of Syria and to use some of its components against Russia in Ukraine. Putin and Assad are attempting to liquidate the jihadis on Syrian territory.

The delivery of the MIG-31s comes against the backdrop of the creation of a Russian-Syrian military commission. Numerous Russian military advisers have been arriving in Damascus over recent days. For the first time in five years, they have been sharing their satellite imagery with their Syrian counterparts.

This is the first time since the beginning of the Syrian conflict that the Russian Army has been directly involved in military operations in Syria. In addition, the Russian military advisers have been becoming familiar with the situation on the ground so as to evaluate the options for the deployment of a peacekeeping force under the aegis of the United Nations.

I like PCR but I would also like a little finality in our justice system so that criminals don't get to appeal 10 times on the public's dime over stupid shit.

Something is out of place here because right now Obama wants to make public schools punish white kids at the same statistical rate as black kids regardless of what they do. Eg., A school that has 25% black kids will, by law, not be allowed to suspend more than 25% of black kids even if the black kids are responsible for 85% of the problems that require suspensions. So schools will be forced to make stuff up to suspend more whites or turn a blind eye to black kids with weapon and violent assault violations to balance the statistics. That's how they want it to be done, all enforced by the DOJ. Period. Even the teachers unions think this is nuts.

But this is just a foreshadow of what they also want to bring to the prison system where they would argue that the black 13% of the population couldn't possibly be guilty enough to make up 58% of the prison population -- ie., "They're not guilty, they're there because of institutional racism."

Maybe I'm 'insouciant', or maybe it's still a little too early in the morning, but I'd like a few more details on what PCR is referring to here before I could possibly agree with what he is talking about because I haven't heard this described this way before. Something is dissonant.

Yeah.  You're right for retirement benefits.  100% right.

The only area where non-citizens suffer at Social Security is SSDI recipients living abroad, where as a practical matter the only two places you can be an ex-pat and collect SSDI are border zones of Mexico and Canada.  It's from the need to periodically return to the U.S. for 30 consecutive days during each six-month period in order to continue to draw benefits.

See http://www.disabilitysecrets.com/get-disability-if-not-citizen.html

Can You Receive Benefits While Living Outside the United States?

If you are a U.S. citizen and receive SSDI, you can continue to receive payments even if you are outside of the United States, as long as you are eligible for them, without having to return to the United States periodically.

Noncitizen residents or permanent residents of the United States who are entitled to SSDI can often be paid benefits while they reside abroad, depending upon their citizenship status and the countries in which they live. However, with some exceptions, an alien beneficiary who leaves the United States must either return to the U.S. at least every 30 days or for 30 consecutive days during each six-month period in order to continue to draw benefits.

One exception is made for alien beneficiaries who are on active military duty for the United States. Another exception exists for alien beneficiaries who live in and are citizens of Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, or Japan. (The United States has treaty obligations with these nations to continue paying benefits regardless of how long beneficiaries are outside the United States.) Citizens of the Netherlands may receive partial benefits.

the problem, i'm now, very very recently seeing in democracy, is that it is a veritable dictatorship of the mob.

Hitler made Germany into a a mob.  but the mob of today is all hooked up and is waiting stupidly for a leader to come and lead them.

today's world is more mob-like than ever.

i've read Wifred Trotter's "Instinct of the Herd in Peace and in War"

E.A. Ross "Social Control"

and just yesterday have started reading "Crowd Psycholgy" by Gustave Le Bon.

But I don't know anythiing about the "neo-Nazis" of today BECAUSE they sure as hell are not the same as the original.

Today's Fascists are the people who see nothing wrong with Obamacare, which uses the enforcement power of the IRS to force people to purchase a commercial product that is the cornerstone of our disease-industrial system.

I was saddened this week to hear Jimmy Carter announce that the tiny "2 cm" melanoma lesions in his brain were being so very quickly treated with radiation.  Jeez, he's 90 years old and they "found" these lesions with some kind of imaging which had to be from some kind of tumor-seeking radioactive tracer.  No time to think.  Just rush in the heavy cannons and blast his brain with gamma radiation for some tiny blips on a heavily processed image.  From the sound of it he had no SYMPTOMS of harm from what could very well be artifacts.  It sends a terrible message to people getting similar "diagnoses" from our disease system, which favors expensive treatments above everything else, especially the interests of the patient.

The smear of Jimmy Carter's character we political, but I think also fascist. Maybe I'll get down votes for this.

Intelligence, wisdom, kind rule, equality, brotherhood, liberty should be some of the highest values in politics. NOT black and white thinking, cognitive distortions, cognitive errors, bias, ad hominem attacks...

Carter was attacked for his budget and prisoners in Iran. Today we have budgets and debt on steroids as well as 100-220 Billion in liability... plus prisoners in Iran.

$T Debt Added
J. Carter, ,$0.37 T (4 yrs)
R. Reagan, $1.69 T
G. H Bush, $1.4 T (4 yrs)
W. Clinton, $1.627 T
G. W. Bush, $4.357 T
B. Obama, $6.365 T (4 yrs)
B. Obama, $8 T (6 yrs est.)

Federal Spending is partly for corporate superpowers, partly military powers, partly economic & financial superpowers,... partly FISCAL Stimulus to get Velocity of Money Stock higher... and partly fascist MIC spending.

writing in 1895, Gustave Le Bon said that his day was the "age of the crowd" and he wrote a most excellent book about crowd psychology.

he wrote about the fact that a crowd of people is inevitably reduced in intelligence to that of its most stupid constituent.  makes me think of the thought police on college campuses.  we are clearly now living in the age of the stupid it's no lunatic fringe saying that--it's full issues of The Atlantic and cover story of Esquire to name just two I know of, because i stopped reading generally.

Le Bon said that it was a good thing that the steam engine and other technology that created the Industrial Revolution had already been made because he said that the mob stupidly suppresses new ideas and he was doubtful those inventions could have been popularized in his time of 1895.    he was clearly a man of great sensitivity and maybe "way ahead of his time" but maybe not.  social changes are slow by nature and they go steps like two steps forward, one step back.

fifty years after he saw the end of science, we created two different atom bombs that both worked the very first try.

but for the social sciences he was right on 1000%.   the social scientists of 1900 represent the best source of knowledge about crowd psychology that i can find.

does anyone know different ????????????????????????

I have nothing to offer in regards to this article but to agree with PCR. Gulag may be hyperbole but the real American rulers have lulled the public with bread and circuses to the point they no longer have to hide the true nature of their mission; establish an unchallenged Empire.

The problem I forsee is that in their quest to formulate this Empire they have begun to destroy the very systems that established their wealth and power. They are destroying the vehicle that brought them to the pinnacle of world domination. Their hubris will be their downfall. Perhaps the sheep will not awaken and take them down but their own actions will. As anyone who has reached the pinnacle in any endeavor knows, getting there is half the battle, the other half is staying there. When the system crashes, and it will, they will come down too. Power is shifting east, they can start war after war but they are done, the Western elites have shot themselves in the foot and it is infected. They are too blind by power lust to notice and it will take them down.

You are part of the new Captive Nation.

PCR: It's not a "new" captive nation. This nation was captured before 9/11/2001 (more than 14 years ago). It was likely captured before the JFK assassination. But the fact became obvious on 9/11/01 with the collapse of WTC7. It was hit by nothing. It was covered up by both the media and the government. This proves an obvious inside job and government and media are equally culpable.

We were a captured nation before that.

But PCR, you have been appearing on shows and writing articles this whole time and I have never heard you open with the obvious:

"People, what I write and say here is irrelevant, because we are a captive nation ... as evidenced by the collapse of WTC7".

If you had, you articles would never see the light of day and you would never be invited on any media show.

I have been running an on-going poll of people who want to engage me in a discussion of current events. To check if they're paying attention (and thus have a clue why they believe what they say), I show them a video of WTC7 collapsing. I ask them if they know what they are looking at. As of last night, 13 out of 173 knew. And last night I found number 13. Yet this guy was praising his military buddy going to his 4th tour in Afghanistan.

I asked him who he thought his buddy was fighting for. The line went dead.

I encourage everyone to begin running this poll yourselves. You will be astonished by what you find. And you will be more astonished at the reaction (or more correctly, absense of it). It's just amazing!

"America Is A Gulag"

IF America has become a "gulag"

THEN the people to blame are the proletariat hordes

AND the system of "universal suffrage" whereby any person in the country can vote - as often as desired !

REGARDLESS of that person's intelligence, education, accomplishments, success, etc

BECAUSE

elections determine who gets into the offices of power in government

and elections are determined ONLY by number of votes

and politicians will pander to the weaknesses, whims, desires, laziness, incompetence and stupidity of the proletariat hordes

THEREFORE

EVERY political system that is based upon "universal suffrage"will decay and end in ruin.

America is well on the way to that end.

Democracy is flawed on it's face. It should be replaced by a true representative form of government.

In such a form:

  • Every person knows their representative personally
  • Every representative knows the people they represent personally
  • Every representative is trusted to study the issues and decide for those he represents
  • The system is an inverted triangle acting like a sieve
  • Issues that can be resolved at a given level are resolved at that level
  • Issues that cannot be resolved at a given level are handed down to the next level
  • Each level is a collection of representatives selected from the level above
  • Almost no issues should ever reach the bottom level
  • Issues reaching the bottom level should be decided unanimously or not decided at all
  • With 6 levels of cells with 50 individuals each, all people on Earth can be represented.

ALL representative forms of government are nothing more than varying formulas for megalomaniacs (eg clintons),  incompetents (eg gw bush) and sociopath-parasites (eg obomination) to get, exercise and abuse power WITHOUT ANY LIMITS OR CONTROLS BY THE PEOPLE, IE VICTIMS. Modern day politicians are NOTHING MORE than elected versions of the arrogant egotistical maniacs of the thousands of years of various forms of nobility and monarchy.

The ONLY form of government that has any possible chance of

1. actually representing the true will of the people in policies and actions

2. actually being under the control of the people rather than elected lords

is DIRECT democracy, ie the people will vote on not just the holders of office

BUT ALSO on ALL the policies, actions and court interpretations of constitutional issues.

Under this system, NO politician, whether in legislative, executive or judicial office, will have the power to implement ANY policy or action ALONE - EVERY issue MUST be submitted to DIRECT vote by the people.

We live in the era when the technology for accomplishing this is readily available - we can vote over the web, frequently and securely, the same way that people ROUTINELY and SECURELY perform TRILLIONS of transactions with their banks and brokerages over the web.

In this system, the politicians will have power ONLY to propose policies, actions, constitutional decisions, etc to the people,

and ONLY the people will have the power to decide them.

By my personal poll, only 13 out of 174 people polled know about WTC7 falling down. That means 93% of the people who would participate in the democracy you describe (with all its technology) are "not" paying enough attention to vote intelligently. That's why the representative form of government I described (which you ignored but replied to) is superior to the democracy you describe.

You missed my point:

The ONLY people who would be eligible for voting, ie making decisions on how to structure and operate society, government, markets, economy, monetary system, constitutionality of laws, etc

are the people who have the intelligence, knowledge and competence, who have created something, built something, accomplished something, earned and saved something, who have achieved full financial self-sufficiency (ie NO entitlement parasites allowed), in short,

the ONLY people who would be allowed to make such important decisions are those who have demonstrated through the conduct of their own lives that they have the competence and have earned the privilege.

That leaves out all the dumb-as-wood proletariat masses.

You miss your own point. Who's to decide who is one of the "dumb-as-wood proletariat masses"?

The only system that can work is where representatives (1) are chosen by people who actually know them and (2) who actually know the people who choose them.

This does not eliminate the possibility that an imbecile might be chosen (especially by a collection of imbeciles), but the system we currently have "assures it". Propaganda works on masses. It doesn't work on small groups.
