Virginia Reporter, Photographer Killed During Live TV Report; "Disgruntled Employee" Gunman Tweets Attack, Shoots Himself
Vester Lee Flanagan - aka Bryce Williams - the gunman who killed two journalists during a live broadcast in Virginia has attempted suicide and is "in a very critical condition", media report.
He was dismissed in 2013, after gaining a reputation for being "difficult to work with," according to the station's management.

As The Daily Beast reports,
In the tweets, Flanagan hinted at possible motives for the shooting. He tweeted about filing an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint and alleged that the reporter had made racist comments. “They hired her after that???” he tweeted. The slain producer, he claimed, complained to HR about him after working together one time. His final text tweet boasted about filming the attack.
ABC News said it recieved a 23-page fax from Flanagan and turned it over to authorities.

A gunman has opened fire on a TV news crew conducting a live broadcast from Virginia shopping center on Wednesday. Police are reporting three victims, though their conditions are currently unknown. The shooter is still on the loose.
Video from the scene appears to show a crew from local TV outlet WDBJ7 being attacked in the middle of a live report at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia.
A reporter was interviewing a woman at the shopping center when the gunman walked into view, firing what sounded to be at least six shots.
The station has confirmed the incident involved one of its crews.
Police are looking for the shooter and hope to soon release a description of the individual to the public.
Nearby Bedford County schools are currently on lockdown as police search for the shooter, ABC 13 reported. The Virginia Department of Transportation has reported a high-priority situation, announcing the closure of Route 122 in the area.

If you truly want to save lives, banning guns is a punt. Of est 300 million guns in private hands, 0.0037% are used in murders, and of those in excess of 80% are gang related, per the CDC.

SA, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a huge fan of most of your comments, but you and others are making some valid points. As someone with experience with discharging a handgun, I can attest to the deafening sound they make - even when wearing ear protection. Hollywood fails big time with that in virtually every instance of firearm use on film. Without ear protection, you will not be able to hear anything for several minutes, especially if the shot is that close. Here, the cameraman barely flinched, if at all. Another common visual fail, maybe not here, is the lack of recoil and/or slide movement. We saw this with the Walter Scott "shooting".
As for all the naysayers, telling SA to seek help, etc. - you are not countering his points with a valid argument, just an ad hominem attack - shame on you!

Almost everyone drives over the speed limit so I guess you would also blame the speed limit laws for accident deaths. It has been illegal to carry a knife in public for as long as I can remember. Every so often they have a "crackdown" and a "knife amnesty" for people to turn their knives in but it's all bullshit and they know it. A decent kitchen knife is just as deadly as any of the knives they're demonising and they're never going to get rid of those.

Hmm, this doesn't make sense... Bedford county is a sleepy little place and the location of the shooting is a small shopping center on Smith Mountain Lake... There is a marina, shopping, restaurants and not much else... Hardly any violence in the county other than the occassional moon shiner getting caught... I lived around this area for years and frequented this place often...

I have yet to see an "honest" question from you. We already have many "sensible" gun laws which, like immigration and other laws are enforced sporadically. As for a Hillary presidency meaning an immediate ban of semi automatic weapons, you are not well acquainted with the constitution or the separation of powers in the US form of government.
