Is This Where VIX Is Going Next?
Once again the HFTs appear to be signaling market direction, this time in VIX. The earlier flash-smash perfectly signaled where VIX would top in the short-term, so did today's VIX flash crash signal traders to sell vol.
As we noted previously, the odd after-hours spikes (and troughs) in AAPL
that appeared to act as strange attractors for the market during the day
and sure enough, today's high (for now) appears to correspond almost
perfectly with last Monday's after-hours spike highs... Signals? or just pure coincidence (5 times in 5 days)....

@This is it
How do you vote on both?
Wrong questions
I don't Know
I do Know
or
I do care
I don't care
+1 you have to select the one most meaingful! lol
And if the both are meaningful in the same measure?
It doesn't matter, if an HFT can trade it, it ain't a market, it's a rigged roulette wheel.....
<-- Don't know; don't care
<-- Don't know; do care
@Pool Shark
ROTFLMAO
+100
<-- Don't Gamble in the Rigged Stock Market
<-- I'm an Algo, so I do care
<-- I love women
<-- I hate vegetables
WTF
Women & vegetables???
I voted Women..........................but I like my vegies too.
LOL
Would you love to your women with veggies? With some mayo perhaps...if she doesnt mind.
Just saying you could suggest.
I like my women..........................RAW and no dressings that cannot be taken off.
When it comes to dressings, vegetables and sex share one similarity with pizza. If you're going to use barbecue sauce, you'd better know what the fuck you're doing.
<-- I love melons
<-- I love tuna
The VIX is the most manipulated index out there. Of course it will crash to the end of the arrow.
Notice the giant cup-and-handle formation?
Coinciding with Dudster's no-rate-hike = more QE speech, a big lift off could be seen soon.
A lot of algos key off the vix, just manipulate that and you get the algos to do your manipulative bidding. more bang fer yor buck
55
Why should a completely manipulated market have any volatility? As the Fed regains control of the markets, VIX will tend towards zero.
@ Just,
They're aren't any free markets. Both you & I and any verteran poster here knows all the Global Markets are rigged right along with their Crimianl Fraud CORPORATE GOVENRMENTS. Run out of The City of London & Vatican. It's The Global Criminal Oligarch Cabal Bankster Intelligence Crime Syndicate. AKA The Criminal Fraud UNITED STATES, CORP. INC.
The triad of Wall Street, MIC and spooks from NSA/CIA runs the land of the free. No markets left in USA
The land of the free is a fascist, police state masquerading as a democracy. And the press, completely owned by the CIA, does a fine job of covering that up:
Who rules America?
The secret collaboration of the military, the intelligence and national security agencies, and gigantic corporations in the systematic and illegal surveillance of the American people reveals the true wielders of power in the United States. Telecommunications giants such as AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, and Internet companies such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter, provide the military and the FBI and CIA with access to data on hundreds of millions of people that these state agencies have no legal right to possess.
Congress and both of the major political parties serve as rubber stamps for the confluence of the military, the intelligence apparatus and Wall Street that really runs the country. The so-called “Fourth Estate”—the mass media—functions shamelessly as an arm of this ruling troika.

"The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major media." -- William Colby, former CIA Director
It's hard to decipher if these companies are purely CIA front corporations or collaborators but I guess it doesn't matter.
Who run Barter-town?
Violets Ibises Xylophones - makes perfect sense now.
Personally, I don't know why I continue to waste my time posting here. Based on the followimg post I posted yesterday.
The vast majority of ZH's especially the veterans here understand fully that there are no more "Bear or Bullish" markets. There's only Fascism & Ponzi.
"If central banks purchase stocks in order to support equity prices, what is the point of having a stock market? The central bank’s ability to create money to support stock prices negates the price discovery function of the stock market."
-Dr. Paul Criag Roberts
"These questions came to mind when we learned that the central bank of Switzerland, the Swiss National Bank, purchased 3,300,000 shares of Apple stock in the first quarter of this year, adding 500,000 shares in the second quarter. Smart money would have been selling, not buying.
It turns out that the Swiss central bank, in addition to its Apple stock, holds very large equity positions, ranging from $250,000,000 to $637,000,000, in numerous US corporations — Exxon Mobil, Microsoft, Google, Johnson & Johnson, General Electric, Procter & Gamble, Verizon, AT&T, Pfizer, Chevron, Merck, Facebook, Pepsico, Coca Cola, Disney, Valeant, IBM, Gilead, Amazon."
-Dr. Paul Craig Roberts
Thanks for the info Chupacabra
New about Swiss and Apple............but not the others
Good info.
Keep posting, the game has to be played until the end.
you're PCR?
(Actually, that’s CRAMER posting!)
Those of us who understand political thought and theory agree with you, C-322.
Fascism and Ponzi: A marriage made in hell. Or America, if you will. Same difference.
keep posting, even if you only reach 1 new mind a day it's worth it
Funny to use "strange attractors", a quantum mechanical term.
I guess it's just as confusing, or is it?
Is suspected signaling the reason why all the traders in the pits start cooing in unison when there are repeating numbers? Or is this a cocaine safety meeting thing?
Heavy Volume is Red, and Low Volume is Green or what??
Looks like candlesticks.
Edit: This link doesn't look the same, so could be something to learn about the data feed delay.

Wonder how VIX Opions work. 100 Shares of VIX Index Fund per Options Contract?
Was that 100 shares of 650 Contracts Last Friday with 2400% Gain...
Not sure how the .10 Call to rise over Price $50 pays out exactly...
If rose to $2.50 price, then maybe it is 650 X $2.40 (- $.10). = $1560.00
Which doesn't look like much money...
(And you have to subtract transaction fee of $15 or more and the Contract Cost $.10 X $650 = $6.50)
Anyone know?
