Is This Where VIX Is Going Next?

Tyler Durden's picture

Once again the HFTs appear to be signaling market direction, this time in VIX. The earlier flash-smash perfectly signaled where VIX would top in the short-term, so did today's VIX flash crash signal traders to sell vol.

As we noted previously, the odd after-hours spikes (and troughs) in AAPL
that appeared to act as strange attractors for the market during the day
and sure enough, today's high (for now) appears to correspond almost
perfectly with last Monday's after-hours spike highs... Signals? or just pure coincidence  (5 times in 5 days)....

The VIX is the most manipulated index out there. Of course it will crash to the end of the arrow.

Why should a completely manipulated market have any volatility? As the Fed regains control of the markets, VIX will tend towards zero.

The triad of Wall Street, MIC and spooks from NSA/CIA runs the land of the free.  No markets left in USA

The land of the free is a fascist, police state masquerading as a democracy.  And the press, completely owned by the CIA, does a fine job of covering that up:

Who rules America?

The secret collaboration of the military, the intelligence and national security agencies, and gigantic corporations in the systematic and illegal surveillance of the American people reveals the true wielders of power in the United States. Telecommunications giants such as AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, and Internet companies such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter, provide the military and the FBI and CIA with access to data on hundreds of millions of people that these state agencies have no legal right to possess.

Congress and both of the major political parties serve as rubber stamps for the confluence of the military, the intelligence apparatus and Wall Street that really runs the country. The so-called “Fourth Estate”—the mass media—functions shamelessly as an arm of this ruling troika.

It's hard to decipher if these companies are purely CIA front corporations or collaborators but I guess it doesn't matter.

Personally, I don't know why I continue to waste my time posting here. Based on the followimg post I posted yesterday.

The vast majority of ZH's especially the veterans here understand fully that there are no more "Bear or Bullish" markets. There's only Fascism & Ponzi.

"If central banks purchase stocks in order to support equity prices, what is the point of having a stock market? The central bank’s ability to create money to support stock prices negates the price discovery function of the stock market."
-Dr. Paul Criag Roberts

"These questions came to mind when we learned that the central bank of Switzerland, the Swiss National Bank, purchased 3,300,000 shares of Apple stock in the first quarter of this year, adding 500,000 shares in the second quarter. Smart money would have been selling, not buying.

It turns out that the Swiss central bank, in addition to its Apple stock, holds very large equity positions, ranging from $250,000,000 to $637,000,000, in numerous US corporations — Exxon Mobil, Microsoft, Google, Johnson & Johnson, General Electric, Procter & Gamble, Verizon, AT&T, Pfizer, Chevron, Merck, Facebook, Pepsico, Coca Cola, Disney, Valeant, IBM, Gilead, Amazon."

-Dr. Paul Craig Roberts

Wonder how VIX Opions work. 100 Shares of VIX Index Fund per Options Contract?

Was that 100 shares of 650 Contracts Last Friday with 2400% Gain...

Not sure how the .10 Call to rise over Price $50 pays out exactly...

If rose to $2.50 price, then maybe it is 650 X $2.40 (- $.10). = $1560.00

Which doesn't look like much money...

(And you have to subtract transaction fee of $15 or more and the Contract Cost $.10 X $650 = $6.50)

Anyone know?
