What now backs the US Dollar?
Have you noticed that countries whose leaders have arranged different forms of settlement for oil sales end up dead?
If not dead, sanctioned and labeled a pariah.
US Military targets have been non BIS countries for some time. That agenda has not changed.
the only thing between those dollars and a few trillion of new supply conjured out of thin air is chinas decision to sell treasury paper. i would say its inflationary, but you destroy the value of the dollar thats deflationary to me

The US dollar started out backed by gold and silver, then replaced to one backed by oil (hence the concept of a reserve currency). Now that backing is in question since oil purchases can be settled in other currencies. So then what's left. Does is become a currency backed by military force? How does that work? In any event, a currency is either purely fiat or backed by something. I'm trying to figure out the most likely way the lifespan of the dollar ends.
In any event, there can be no question that the "value" of our dollar is on a downhill slide. Then that means that we'd be better off converting what excess dollars we hold into stuff. Is that "stuff" precious metals? Real estate? Guns and ammo? All of the above?
I'm a little frustrated because I'm tethered to a sinking ship...

Great comment, and you are on to something. I would add that since Zion and their banksters took over the DC US government in 1913, the dollar has been backed by Zion. This explains a great many things that you highlight.
Now, as for, "I'm trying to figure out the most likely way the lifespan of the dollar ends."
Zion and their grifting banksters know that the dollar will collapse sooner rather than later. Therefore they are engineering a collapse, like the stock market in '29, so as to benefit from it.
Phase one is to push up the dollar so as to pad the connected and "chosen" ones' "exit" to Europe. A higher dollar also makes it easier to mask price-inflation in the DC US as well. They don't have to worry that their liquidations will be noticed, as they control the noiZ-media and have the markets rigged to the up side. The rigged markets were evident this week.
Phase two is to further push up the dollar with FedRes rate hikes starting this Fall or Winter. That starts an invisible timer on the dollar-bomb.
Phase three is when the dollar is allowed to collapse, and like a neutron star, go supernova--supernova price-inflation, as all the sequestered dollars overseas, and under mattresses, coming flowing out, and back, in a desperate attempt to retain some value.
The American people will then be thrown out of work, find little to purchase at the stores, etc. Poverty. Massive poverty almost overnight.
Then starvation and misery will set in, as importers will not produce and sell to the American market in exchange for more worthless fiat, and the corporate farming enterprises, and their treasonous government partners, will cooperate in selling food crops to overseas buyers for "hard-currency." "No 'hard currency,' no food for you."
Phase four is when Zion, now safely ensconced in Europe, and their grifting banksters, will play their Zionist control of the courts. They will have dollar denominated debts revalued, and their court jesters make all "legal," in a new SDR backed fiat-currency. This will enable them to continue to bleed the stone, the destitute American people, for debt service or the taking of the underlying collateral.
Phase six will entail the breaking up of the country into various parts, the ultimate "division" ploy. A new nation centered on Texas will emerge. They will be tasked with controlling for Zion, and denying to the Chinese, the Oil Patch, and food-basket of the "heartland." The west coast will be ceded to the Chinese, who will then cede Alaska to the Russians in exchange for a freehand in the lower-48 and Hawaii. Much of the east coast will still be dominated by Zion, just more openly now. The fate of the missile fields of the upper mid-west are still to be determined, but there has been some intrigue in the command of the nukes in the last few years
This phase will also see the full flowering of their plans for the ReadyReserve and FEMA camps.
Phase seven is war, revolution, and rumors of war.

Noticed a disturbing trend lately. All the $20s that come out of the ATM are looking ratty. Ratty like maybe they should not be in circulation. But they are.
When I look at a ratty bill, it prompts me to think: this thing could fall apart soon. If it does, then it is worthless. Maybe I should spend it before it deteriorates further.

Have to admit have been ratholing $20, $50, and a few $100s for awhile now in case I can spend them instead of the real stuff. Made the same comment myself when I got $250 the other day. Looked like worn out stuff I would have thought would have been burned years ago. Youngest bill I had was 2008 and had a bunch of John Snows. Even one from the freaking 80's. Made me wonder if the rumors that they have been printing up the new bills of whatever name is true and thus why I keep seeing really old stuff. One of my like minded friends made the same comment along with saying he has been getting dirty looks when he asks for cash. Not seen that but have known almost all the staff at our bank for years....does make you wonder

Yup, even my dad noticed the hand color in a picture. I missed it, as I had tuned the whole thing out, as fake or not, we know what the agenda will be--"Get the guns!"
Now a funny thing: I clicked on your link and began watching. They had the reporter's colleagues reminiscing on-air with none appearing grief stricken, and even one smirking. Okay, maybe she and the dead cameraman weren't really liked, but there was no showing of horror or other emotions either--strange. Then the nearly joyful on-camera interview with the loving boyfriend who seemed to indicate they might be getting married, but he too showed no grief. Okay, maybe shock.
Then I thought, "If this is a real false-flag they will have someone close to one of the victims on C(ia)NN demanding gun control while not showing real grief or loss." Bada-Bingo!:
