Ashley Madison CEO Quits
A few months ago, Ashley Madison was the most anticipated upcoming adultery social network IPO. Then it was hacked, and all 34 million member accounts were exposed (with some amusing results and even more amusing explanations), leading to questions how long can the company exist in its current iteration, if at all.
Moments ago we got the first answer, when the Daily Beast first reported that Avid Life Media, Noel Biderman, is stepping down.
From the Beast:
Noel Biderman stepped down as chief executive officer of Ashley Madison's parent company on Friday, they mutually announced. "This change is in the best interest of the company.... We are actively adjusting to the attack on our business and members' privacy by criminals," Avid Life Media said in a statement. The hack exposed 34 million accounts and emails from Biderman showing he had extramartial affairs despite the self-proclaimed "King of infidelity" publicly saying he never cheated on his wife.
And just like that Ashley Madison got adultfriendfindered, even before it went public. The biggest losers: the underwriters, who would have collected a few million on what is now a dead and buried $200MM IPO.

Gizmodo has taken a look at some of the leaked data about the website and has found that the reality is it’s “like a science fictional future where every woman on Earth is dead, and some Dilbert-like engineer has replaced them with badly-designed robots.”
The site was a complete scam, as well as charging $19 to remove personal data and then not doing it, and not keeping users' personal data secure.
No IPO ever; tar and feathers maybe.

You could try suing but in most states it won't go. However, I read in North Carolina the law called, "criminal conversation" (aka, adultery) is something you can sue for if you can prove your spouse cheated. Places like Texas, NM, Arizonia and other community property states, the husband might as well write a Big Check b/c you will lose ALOT + tons of both your lawyers' fees. I've seen it happen to several people at work. Very sad. Even the dog gets kicked out usually.

One critical piece of information captured in the leak was the last date a user had checked their messages. If a user never checked their inbox, the field was completely blank. If they logged in even once, that information was recorded. Ashley Madison also records the last time a user answered messages; this can be handled in a separate field without actually clicking on the inbox, which is why the data logs show different numbers for the women who checked mail versus replying to a message.
In both cases, however, the numbers are staggeringly low.

All I can say is the people who used the site are really naive to think that any of their information would be "confidential" in the first place. Second, who the hell would sign up for a site where you have to PAY for someone to "supposedly" delete your information!? People who walked into this trap had it coming. It's just sad that many marriages will now be affected because of one man's greed.
