I can see debt and credit as a wonderful tool .. .IE $6 million to be used to fund the building of the Erie Canel so that instead of taking 31 days to move a ton of goods from bufflalo to NYC in 1810 via horse and wagaon, and costing $100, the canal made it so you could move a ton of goods from buffalo to NYC in 6 days at a cost of just $5 per ton .. the loans were paid back in just 15 years from tolls!
