Putin Targets US Monetary System: "Aims To Eliminate US Dollar From Trade"

Tyler Durden's picture

Something is afoot as de-dollarization escalates around the world. With CNY/RUB trading volumes up a stunning 400% year-over-year to record highs, and hot on the heels of China's (and much of EM Asia) dumping dollar assets, Russian President Vladimir Putin has just unleashed a new bill aiming to completely eliminate the US dollar from the trade of goods.

As Putin explained last year... trade in Rubles and Yuan will weaken the dollar's influence...

And it appears to be happening....

CNY/RUB volume rose 4 times y/y to 18.4b yuan (193.3b rubles), highest since trading started at end-2010, Moscow Exchange says in statement on website.

Record daily trading was on Aug. 24 at 1.95b yuan

As SHTFPlan.com's Mac Slavo details, last year Russia began unloading massive amounts of their US dollar reserves. In the month of December 2014 alone Putin sold some 20% of the country’s U.S. Treasurys, a move that further increased tensions surrounding what can only be described as economic warfare between East and West.

Then, as if part of a coordinated effort, this summer it was revealed that China had implemented a similar strategy, dumping half a trillion in dollar denominated assets.

But that’s just the beginning of the end for the US dollar. Amid a major meltdown in Chinese stock markets the People’s Republic sold off billions in dollar assets last week in what was reported to be an effort to stabilize their collapsing financial markets.

And now, as Russia’s economy collapses under the weight of American and European sanctions, including what many believe to be widespread downward manipulation of oil prices, Vladimir Putin is sending a clear signal to the central bank of the world’s reserve currency.

A new bill drafted by the President of the Russian Federation aims to completely eliminate the US dollar from the trade of goods:

Russian President Vladimir Putin has drafted a bill that aims to eliminate the US dollar and the euro from trade between CIS countries.

This means the creation of a single financial market between Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and other countries of the former Soviet Union.

“This would help expand the use of national currencies in foreign trade payments and financial services and thus create preconditions for greater liquidity of domestic currency markets”, said a statement from Kremlin.

The bill would also help to facilitate trade in the region and help to achieve macro-economic stability.

Source: RT

The implications for such a move, though not necessarily immediate, are serious over the long-term. That China and Russia are now overtly divesting themselves of U.S. dollar assets signals a significant paradigm shift in global trade.

The dollar may be strong today as panicked global investors rush to the perceived safety of the US Treasury assets. But as the Federal Reserve is left with no choice but to print trillions more to keep financial markets from ruin, the creditors who usually buy those assets are drying up.

There will come a breaking point in the near future, and when that day comes we will see the largest monetary collapse in the history of the world.

When the collapse of the dollar occurs, it will literally and figuratively come like a thief in the night, and I do mean overnight!

We are all familiar with the concept of inflation, which is the intentional byproduct of the Federal Reserve.  But I am not just talking inflation, I’m speaking about hyperinflation which is caused by the collapse of the value of the currency resulting in runaway prices. Here are three examples of how quickly a currency collapse can occur when a nation’s money when its money no longer holds it value:

1. In Weimar Germany, from 1922 – 1923, prices  doubled  every three days.

2. In the modern era, in Yugoslavia from 1992-94, witnessed prices doubling every 34 hours.

3. In Zimbabwe, in the two year period from 2007 – 2008, prices doubled  every 25 hours.

History is replete with examples of currency collapses and they typically follow very predictable patterns in which a nation unravels and social chaos, and many times, widespread violence and even genocide becomes part of the national landscape.

Source: What will happen when the dollar collapses?

And though such things could never happen in the “developed” world, we urge our readers to consider the reality of a scenario that involves a break down of the US dollar. We direct your attention to Venezuela, where we can see what a total system collapse looks like in real-time:

With 30% of Venzuelans eating two or fewer meals per day, social unrest is mounting rapidly in President Nicolas Maduro’s socialist utopia. As WSJ reports, soldiers have now been deployed to stem rampant food smuggling and price speculation, which Maduro blames for triple-digit inflation and scarcity. “Due to the shortage of food… the desperation is enormous,” local opposition politician Andres Camejo said, and nowhere is that more evident than the trampling death of an 80-year-old woman outside a state-subsidized supermarket.

In such a scenario we can fully expect that our regular systems of commerce will break down to the point that essential goods like food, gas and other critical supplies become unattainable to the masses at almost any price.

Tess Pennington, author of The Prepper’s Blueprint, explains what happens within three to five days of the reality of the monetary disaster setting in:

Have you ever heard the saying, “We’re three days away from anarchy?” In the wake of a disaster, that’s all you have is three days to turn the crazy train around before crime, looting and chaos ensue. In reports during the aftermath of hurricane Sandy, residents from Staten Island were pleading for help from elected officials, begging for gasoline, food and clothing.

...

Multiple factors contribute to societal breakdowns including failure of adequate government response, population density, citizens taking advantage of the grid being down and overwhelmed emergency response teams.

The 3-5 days following a disaster is the bewitching hour. During this short amount of time, the population slowly becomes a powder keg full of angry, desperate citizens. A good example is the chaos that ensued in New Orleans following the absence of action from the local government or a timely effective federal response in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In such troubled times, people were forced to fend for themselves and their families, by any means necessary. This timeline of Hurricane Katrina effectively illustrates “the breakdown,” and within three days, the citizens of New Orleans descended into anarchy, looting and murder .

Source: Anatomy of a Breakdown

It’s difficult to imagine a sustained breakdown across America. But make no mistake, should the US dollar every come under attack, and it appears that the opening salvos have already been fired by Russia and China, then life as we have come to know it in America will come to a drastic and near immediate halt.

Putin is rowing with the wind.....

The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, better known as FATCA, was passed in 2010 as part of the HIRE act.  Starting July 1, 2014 Foreign Financial Institutions (FFI) are required by the US government, under FATCA, to report information regarding accounts of all US citizens (living in the US and abroad), US "persons," green card holders and individuals holding certain US investments to the IRS. FATCA requires foreign financial institutions such as local banks, stock brokers, hedge funds, insurance companies, trusts, etc. to report accounts of US persons directly to the United States, or to the government of the bank’s country for further transmission to the US through Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs) or be subject to a 30% withholding on their US investments.

FATCA also requires US citizens who have foreign financial assets in excess of $50,000 (higher for bona fide residents overseas – $200,000 for single filers and $400,000 for joint filers – see the IRS website for more details) to report those assets every year on a new Form 8938 to be filed with the 1040 tax return. Instructions for form 8938 were published in December 2011 and can be found on the IRS website.

Many Americans residing overseas are reporting banking lock-out. Many foreign financial institutions have chosen to eliminate their US citizens and US person client basis in order to minimize their exposure to FATCA reporting requirements,

As a result of FATCA, European banks such as Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, HSBC, and Credit Suisse have been closing brokerage accounts for all US customers since early 2011 citing "onerous" US regulations, which FATCA will make more complex.

I don't know that we will see a collapse in the traditional sense (US dollars rendered worthless), however, a revaluation of around 5x current levels (ie., $1 today being worth $.20 in the near future) seems pretty likely (essentially the scenario where the roughly 5x increase in the Fed Reserve Balance since the start of QE "comes home to roost").  This would be a tremendously shitty situation in it's own right, even if it doesn't mean a total collapse of the dollar.

Oh, bullshit. Good luck with that Pootie.

Russian's GDP is #10, less than India's and only slightly more than Canada's. How hard would people laugh if either India or Canada said they were going to form the world's reserve currency. Plus, Ruskie GDP is mostly in one sector, oil, and they don't have even remotely what could be called a consumer-driven IMPORT economy, something ESSENTIAL to being the owner of the world's reserve currency (see "The Impossibility of China Issuing a Reserve Currency"). Same for China, for now. They have failed to start up in any significant way a consumer based economy to replace their EXPORT one and the COLOSSAL debt-based malinvestment binge post-2008 they used to prevent total collapse there due to plummeting exports is going to be hell to pay.

Here's what's going to happen: when the SHTF, everyone will come flocking to the least dirty shirt in the hamper, the US dollar AS USUAL.

The Impossibility of China Issuing a Reserve Currency

Any nation running a $285 billion net annual trade surplus cannot possibly export enough of its currency to act as a reserve currency.

What are the main contributors? US financial institutions that make billions moving paper, US hospitals with super-inflated prices, US colleges and universities with super-high tuition fees.

They have virtually no consumer market and thus are totally dependent upon exporting goods to other nations. They need to keep a cheap currency so as to ensure they can export and transport their products to consumer markets willing to buy. Its not like Chinese goods have any quality aside of being cheap.

I'm aware that the UE buys a lot of their crap, for now until that misguided, highly flawed effort to herd cats goes down in flames during the next crash, but the loss of the US market alone would be enough to destroy their economy and this time they don't have the resources to build trillion of dollars of mostly unused infrastructure to soften the blow like they did after the 2008 crash.

On the US dollar, this isn't going to change overnight and during the next crash everyone will flee to the US$ like they always have:

The post WW1 German population didn't understand money. They thought their currency was "as good as gold." It had always been as good as gold so why would they think anything changed?

Most of the population was not even aware of war reparations through the Versailles Treaty.

They didn't realize that bread, beer and coal cost more the following day because their fiat was being diluted and worth less, they thought it was being manipulated by the English and Americans. Pound sterling and US dollars could buy more and more German services and goods in relevant terms. It's easier to blame your adversary. (Had France backed off reparations WW2 may have never occured, so some truth in it)

The Germans never looked inward. Instead they literally turned on every printing press to create tomorrows inflated fiat while throwing away yesterdays worthless fiat. Private banks were contracted by the central bank to print currency. Large corporations were contracted by banks to print their own date sensitive currency.

Literally every printing press was printing money.  Wage earners were least effected because their unions were quick to negotiate a wage increase. Salaried workers were slower to negotiate and inflation+velocity hit them harder. Worse were all pensioners and war vets on fixed incomes. There was no penioners union to lobby a daily cost of living increase. Heck, even the printers union went of stike... for only 3 days... and shit hit the fan. Money ran out. Not only was it worthless, but it was unobtainable.

Consider the printing press a spigot, whomever was closest to the spigot was least effected by hyperinflation. This is how monetary dilution has always worked. Its the delta, the relivant change, the time delay, between a loss of purchasing power and wage adjustment. This is why bankers and war profiteers always win.

This is why governments and banks want to eliminate cash and use only digital currency. Its easier to disguise currency manipulation, purchasing power and wages at the push of a button. Electronic price controls vs printing press. Stupid Americans will take forever to figure it out.

Joe the plumber will be pissed when his 12 pack of Miller High Life doubles in price from $8 to $16. But he won't realize what happened when his union wages are doubled 2 months later from $20/hr to $40/hr.   Soon afterwards the beer doubles again $16 to $32. Wages follow suite two months later $40/hr to $80/hr.

Its not the re-valuation of currency that maters, its the delay in re-valution between purchasing price and wages. Closer to the spigot, quicker the revaluation. All this can be controlled electronically if cash is eliminated.

Russia and China are trying to get as much as they can out of their USD reserves while they can. They know the only buyers of US treasuries are now the Federal Reserve. They also recognize the FR cannot stop buying as this will be a red flag to rest of the world  that there are no buyers for Treasuries. We are not pleased about this at all.  I heard war comes in 3 stages. Currency war then trade war then shooting war. We are well into the first 2 and just starting on the last. A possible twist would be for Russia and China to announce some type of gold backing to their currencies. Prior to this they do their best to rid themselves of all USD they can. Bad things happen to leaders that try to subvert the dollar. This will continue to get worse. A couple chemical plant explosions is only a warning.

putin regime economy is in no position to attack US or EU economy. It has only a shape to collapse

The reason why putin regime is suffering economic recession is not only because of low oil prices (look at Norway who also is oil exporting country) and EU & US sanctions on putin regime – problem roots goes much deeper than that. It goes back into 2001 – 2003 when oil prices where booming and Russia economy just started to get on it’s feet from crisis that hit 1998.

Cash from oil was flowing in Russia economy and it kept that way for next 10 years which was a chance for putin regime to make decision what way will Russia develop. One option was to invest in developing: industrial complex, agriculture, science, democracy, free market, free media, civil rights, free elections, fight with corruption – that all would bring to Russia more foreign investment, differentiate economy structure, stabilize social structure, etc. But instead putin regime choose different path: create regime control over media, attack opposition till their leaders jailed, killed, silenced, etc. Court system works for regime, but regarding economy  putin regime didn’t invest in: industrial complex, agriculture, science, etc. – because it was easier to earn money now from oil export and buy everything needed as import from EU, US, China etc. So year by year more Russian manufacturing companies closed because could not compete with EU, US, China import. In order to stop unemployment level from rising in Russia – putin regime made different steps, like increased bureaucrats, created different kind ofprojects that had nothing to do with economic reason. Of course all those projects where created in order to steal more and more Russian nation money that was coming in from oil.

So more cash to elite, more simple jobs to people of Russia and everyone put on blind eye on corruption and economic reason and that could work for 10 years. Because oil export was booming, price of oil was high and everyone get his share of a pie. If something was necessary – it was simply imported. So In result today Russia manufacturing industry can’t work without importing many parts that are produced in EU, US. Now what that means for Russia economy in future? It means that as RUB continues to collapse it’s more and more expensive for manufacturing industry to produce anything as they need to import parts from EU, US but they must pay more and more RUB. In result their products get’s more and more expensive and they loose the market share. So they have to lay off more workers and this problem only will increase.

There is no way out of this. RUB will crash because of low oil prices and because Russia economy structure is not differentiated (as for example Norway has) and linked to oil export. Problem with Russia economy started before putin regime invaded Ukraine. It goes back into 2013. So only way for putin regime to stay in power is to create artificial outside enemy in order to mobilize Russian patriotism so that Russian do not to attack putin regime who makes him self as only savior. This can be done only if putin regime controls main stream media – which is what putin regime does. Putin regime and it’s elite knows that there is no way out of this situation. They know Russia is heading for a collapse. But they have no options to solve this. They know they have been stealing oil money for more than 10 years, they know they have been breaking international law by invading other countries like Georgia and Ukraine. They know they can’t simply leave their positions. Because than they will be hanged. And they know they can’t escape Russia economy collapse.

They know they can’t start full open war with Ukraine or worse with NATO – that would only make Russia collapse faster. They are stuck. And have no way out of this situation. Of course China know that, US knows that, EU knows that. So everyone will take their actions to get more benefit out of this and to protect it’s interests. Time is not on putin regime side.

My prediction is that putin regime will collapse in time frame something around October 2015 – June 2016. It will get ugly and bloody.

Life under criminal putin regime can get absurd. But in same time it’s an example how North Korea get to it’s absurd regime. Where everything is upside down and hate propaganda rules the day. I guess Russians are going that direction.

Look, putin regime with it’s propaganda announcing that Western products are banned and should be replaced with local products or imported from other countries. Those Western products that are found in shops are destroyed on site in most bizarre situation – like running over 3 packages of ducks meat and burning 50 ducklings.

https://youtu.be/S4uVcptN1Lo

And that Russia will survive all sanction even if that means to live without food.

Kremlin hard-liner: Russians would ‘rather starve’ than surrender Putin to Western aggressors

That is what putin regime elite & it’s controlled propaganda telling to Russians.

Now, in same time putin regime elite is buying Western Luxus products

In normal country this would not be possible as people would protest against stealing their money and for these double standards putin regime lives in. But under putin regime rule – there isn’t such problem for elite because criminal putin regime just like hitler is in control over mass media in Russia:

And putin regime propaganda even attacks Western world:

So here you go – people in Russia is living in crazy world under putin regime hate and lies propaganda. I just hope they will wake up before they are not led to North Korea style regime. But for one thing I am sure – there will be revolution in Russia. I just hope people of Russia will win it – not the corrupt elite.

putin regime army is falling apart

putin regime is corrupt till it’s core and from all sides, but it is only way for criminal putin regime to stay at power. In result whole system is corrupt and not healthy at all.  Let’s look ar putin regime army – in what shape it is. Here are some articles that should help you understand and draw conclusion about putin regime army:

1.) Bombers, fighters, strike jets, fighter-bombers drops from the sky like flies. Just in 7 weeks putin regime had 7 crashes – and that is not during a war time, but during training.

“Since early June the air force has lost two Tu-95 “Bear” strategic bombers, two MiG-29 fighters, an older Su-24 strike jet, a newer Su-34 fighter-bomber, and most recently an Antonov An-12 military transport.”

2.) Missiles go wild during a Navy Day parade at occupied and illegally annexed Crimea, Sevastopol, putting in real life threat danger civilians who were watching parade

“..in the country on Sunday to celebrate Navy Day and the might of the Russian forces. Yet one rogue missile ruined the display: launched by the Russian frigate Ladny, the missile can be seen wildly spinning round and round before plummeting into the sea.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Qyz_pHUnkg

3.) During a Victory parade rehearsal broke down so called “super tank” of putin regime that was supposed to threat NATO and it’s allies. In result – full embracement for putin regime:

“A new Russian tank touted by military analysts as a fearsome, ultra-advanced machine  broke down during Victory Day parade rehearsals in Moscow on Thursday, leaving puzzled engineers red-faced.

According to Russian newspaper Moskovskiy Komsomolets, the tank came to a full halt and appeared to be experiencing difficulties even though the engine was still running. Other tanks trundled past as army officers approached the crew of the T-14 to discuss the situation. A military towing vehicle was dispatched to salvage the tank, but was unable to pull it away.  ”

https://youtu.be/A-tghr4OTZg

4.) just when russian soldiers think they are safe because are not in one of those “super thanks” or fighter jets that drop from the sky or in one of those frigates which missiles goes wild, they got attacked at sleep… by a building where they are.

“Twenty-three Russian soldiers were crushed to death by rubble after their military barracks collapsed in Siberia, the Russian defence ministry said on Monday.

All four floors collapsed in one section of the building in the Siberian city of Omsk on Sunday evening as 42 Russian paratroopers were resting.

"All 42 soldiers who were under the rubble have been found. Twenty-three of them are dead," said defence ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.”

5.) Russians who are not brainwashed by putin regime massive propaganda are not willing to fight for putin criminal plans and are leave unit fearing Ukraine deployment.

“Dozens of professional Russian soldiers are facing trial after abandoning a training base, according to media reports. The soldiers were allegedly pressured to "volunteer" for fighting in Ukraine. The troops were reportedly offered money and benefits from people in uniforms without insignia. The people then tried to motivate them to join the war in Ukraine, according to an article published Saturday on well-known news site Gazeta.ru.”

6.) Of course soldiers will more and more leave criminal putin regime, especially seeing how they are treated by putin regime when their captured by Ukraine army.

No honor from putin regime – no honor at all. No respect.

“Russia's Defense Ministry has formally disowned two soldiers captured in eastern Ukraine, saying the men had resigned from the army before crossing the border and their mission had "no connection" with Moscow's armed forces.

Colonel General Leonid Ivashov, head of the Russian think tank Academy of Geopolitical Problems, said that if the men were on active duty, Moscow should have done a better job standing behind them, Gazeta.ru reported.

"When we disown our soldiers, if they were indeed ours, that's not good," Ivashov was quoted as saying.

Instead, he suggested, the Defense Ministry "should have said that we are conducting intelligence operations, because there is a civil war going on and military action continues near Russia's borders," Gazeta.ru reported.”

7.) Again and again Russian soldiers “get lost” in Ukraine full of ammo and weapons:

“Ukrainian border guards detained a soldier suspected of being a Russian army officer who was picked up while riding in a military truck packed with ammunition at the Berezove checkpoint, about 28 miles southwest of the militant-held city of Donetsk.

Guards found nearly 200 cases containing grenades and ammunition, including rocket-propelled shells, inside the military truck.

"He (the Russian officer) had no documents. But he admitted that he was a chief of an RAO (rocket-artillery weapons unit). He is responsible for ammunition supply. He said that while delivering the ammunition they had got lost," Oleksandr Tomchyshyn, a border-guards spokesman said. Another man who was detained identified himself as a pro-Russian separatist fighter.”

“Ten Russian soldiers captured in eastern Ukraine crossed the border "by accident", Russian military sources are quoted as saying.

A Russian defence ministry source was quoted by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti as saying: "The soldiers really did participate in a patrol of a section of the Russian-Ukrainian border, crossed it by accident on an unmarked section, and as far as we understand showed no resistance to the armed forces of Ukraine when they were detained."”

So as you can see putin regime has no honor to Russians soldiers and because of huge corruption at all levels it’s army is falling apart.

Here is a bonus track for that – enjoy:

As you can see Putin is simply pathetic liar . . .

Actually from what I read in your post YOU are the pathetic liar - not Putin!

#1 - In 2004, despite the warnings from Russia not to do so, Georgia attacked and tried to occupy Russian aligned, separatist, South Ossettia, which then was the equivalent of the Donbass region of Ukraine today.  It was only when Russian aligned citizens of South Ossettia were basically murdered by the Georgian troops that Russia decided to intervene and intervene they did.  Russia basically kicked Georgia's ass . . . and by the way the President of Georgia at that time, Mikheil Saakashvili, is today a wanted criminal and a fugitive from Georgian justice.  Ukraine has appointed him as "Governor" of Odessa which just emphasizes the criminal nature of the fascist government of Ukraine.

#2 - In Crimea, by a treaty that existed in 2014 between Russia and Ukraine, Russia was allowed to have about 25,000 troops at their base at Sevastopol. When the western backed (fascist/neo-Nazi) coup occurred in Ukraine in February of 2014 the people in Crimea basically freaked out as they DID NOT want to come under the control of the new fascist regime in Kiev.  A referendum was organized by the people of Crimea to vote on the issue of re-uniting with Russia (BTW - Crimea was part of Russia from the mid-1700's to 1954 when Nikita Khrushchev "gave" Crimea to Ukraine).  The turn out for the re-unification vote in Crimea was around 85% of the total voting population and of the people that voted approximately 90% were in favor of rejoining the Russian Federation.  Any suggestion that Russia coerced Crimea or that Russian soldiers in Crimea intimidated voters to vote in favor of the referendum is complete, western generated, BULLSHIT!

Please go back to your cave troll-man. . . .

You're right . . . the incident I am referring to was in 2008 not 2004  I got my years mixed up.  It's pretty easy to do on that subject since they've had flare ups and mini-wars there on and off since the late 1990's.

Thanks for the heads up . . . .

putin regime scared of truth

Criminal putin regime can only be at power if people are brainwashed by putin regime lies propaganda spell. So this mean putin regime must attack truth and stop it in any possible way. So it can get ugly & funny in same time.

Here are some examples to start with - but I'll add some others in time - putin regime won't let us down ;)

The moment Valentina Lisitsa says she supported Euromaidan Russia's RT immediately "loses" her signal:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6ZiFErxRMg&feature=youtu.be&t=8m39s

“Stranger things have happened” Journalists literally cut an article out of their newspaper about a Russian soldier fighting in Ukraine

But censorship goes further - even though is censored. You can't express your self as an artist if it's against putin regime brainwashing program:

Thousands protest in Novosibirsk for artistic freedom

In TV shows controlled by putin regime - if you manage to get there to speak your mind against putin regime - you will be over run by screams so that your voice won't be heard.

https://youtu.be/sbHh6GBM6AM?t=6m41s

And putin regime not only censors truth but creates lies after lies after lies to brainwash people minds - both in west and at home.

Under putin regime - russians brainwashed to support USSR / Stalin crimes against humanity

This is USSR / Stalin crimes to humanity:

https://youtu.be/oVZjyyAE-78

And these are polls showing what is Russian attitude (under putin regime propaganda) to these war crimes:

45% - crimes of Stalin can be justified, but 3 years before on 2012 only 21 % thought so.
Now 57% - object calling Stalin a criminal.
2010 there where 18 - 19% of Russians who called Stalin's death as "great leader and scholar loss" now this number has increased to 24%.

putin - czar

Is it normal if people can’t imagine their country without current president? I think not. President should not become czar / emperor / dictator. But this is what has happened in Russia Federation. Putin has became a czar and people has been brainwashed by putin regime propaganda so far – that they can’t imagine world without putin. Putin from KGB to president of Russia Federation has been for 15 years. Whole generation has been raised by knowing only putin.

There are no real opposition for putin regime. If some political opposition appears than he get's arrested and jailed:

There is no freedom of speech under putin regime – because it’s one of most dangerous country in the world for journalists. You get killed if you speak against putin regime. All main stream media brainwashes people minds 24/7 just like Hitler did:

All three TV channels are controlled by the state: the majority share of Channel One belongs to Rosimuschestvo (the Federal Agency for State Property Management). Other shareholders include National Media Group (controlled by the structures of Yuri Kovalchuk, Chairman of the Board of Rossiya Bank, one of the largest banks in Russia, and Vladimir Putin’s personal friend; and Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea football club and Putin’s ally). Rossiya 2 is a part of VGTRK (All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company) which is owned by Rosimushchestvo. NTV is also controlled by the state through Gazprom Media. TNT and Pyatiy Kanal that come respectively fourth and fifth in the top TV channels by audience reach, are also controlled by the state. TNT belongs to Gazprom Media, while Channel 5 is controlled by National Media Group.

putin lies in Ukraine

If we look at war in Ukraine and who is liying than look at these facts not some pathetic unproven putin regime propaganda:

1.) putin told that there are no russian army active in Crimea, that they are only sitting in their bases - truned out that was a lie:

http://youtu.be/x6HpySKFpiU

Remember these "locals" aka "little green man" that admits they are from russia:

http://youtu.be/wMJwdX5IHm8

2.) Russian propaganda spread info that referendum in Crimea was legit and supported by it's people and members of parliament - but it turned out to be lies - russian terrorist ex-leader Girkin admits there where no support for them in Crimea and that they forced parliament members to vote as terrorists wanted:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcCqrzctxH4
Igor Girkin, ex-minister of defense of the so-called Donetsk Republic:
“Have you actually been to Crimea during the referendum? Well, I have. I have been there since February the 21th. What you are describing here is absolute rubbish. There were no policemen who supported our side at that time. The only law-enforcement subdivision that has joined our ranks back then was the Berkut. The rest of the law-enforcement agencies remained under control of Ukrainian Ministry of Internal, and kept carrying out the MIA’s orders. Yes, sometimes they were sabotaging these orders, but all in all they were under Ukrainian control. I haven’t seen any support from official governmental representatives in Simferopol. Our troops had to force the deputies into the Oblast Council hall so that these representatives would vote in favor of our initiatives. I know this because I have been at the time commandeering one of such militant teams and I’ve seen it all from the inside. We had absolutely no support from the people, not to mention the army. The Ukrainian army units remained loyal to Kyiv as they were. Furthermore, most of the army remained that way. The only thing that made what we have accomplished in Crimea possible was the presence of Russian army.”

http://euromaidanpress.com/2015/01/24/ex-terrorist-leader-referendum-in-crimea-was-a-farce/

3.) putin denies any military help to so called "rebels" in Ukraine - but it failed in Minsk 2 agreement - where he actualy has admited in supporting them with Tordnado-S which is only operated by Russian Federation and has never been exported out side it to other countries.

Minsk 2 agreement say:

"2. Withdrawal of all heavy weapons by both sides to equal distances in order to create a security zone with a width of at least 50 km between them for artillery systems with a calibre of 100 mm and more, and a security zone with a width of 70 km for MLRS and with a width of 140 km for MLRS “Tornado-S” “Uragan,” “Smerch” and tactical missile systems “Tochka” (“Tochka-U”):

- for the Ukrainian troops: from the actual line of contact;

- for the armed formations of certain areas of the Donetsk and the Lugansk regions of Ukraine: from the line of contact in accordance with the Minsk Memorandum of September 19, 2014.

The withdrawal of heavy weapons set out above shall begin no later than the second day after the cease-fire and end within 14 days.

This process will be assisted by the OSCE, with the support of the Trilateral Contact Group."

Russia: 56 units in service

The improved Tornado-S is being upgraded with the special GLONASS satellite navigation system used in the Smerch missile system. The Tornado-S will have guided rocket rounds enabling it to fire out to 72 miles (120 km). The Tornado-S will have a longer range and increased effectiveness, due to the use of new warhead payloads and a reduced launch readiness time of just three minutes. The Tornado-G entered series production in 2013.[2] The system entered service with the Russian armed forces in 2014.[3]

Russia’s elite loves the West

One of the most infuriating thing about the foodstuffs import ban, is that submissive vatniks love to make posts, videos, etc. attacking their fellow citizens, laughing at them and saying: “You’ll just have to do without your jamon, Camembert, and Parmesan!” The implication is that the only people who buy these things are liberals and “creative class types” who have a better life than the salt-of-the-earth, working class Russian. Russia was actually importing something like 40% of its food when these idiotic “counter-sanctions” were announced, meaning that a lot of the banned imports were more or less ordinary goods, not expensive cheese, jamon, etc.

The other thing that makes this so infuriating, however, is that these submissive dipshits are attacking their own fellow citizens while the masters they support do not abide by their asceticism. Rest assured, Russia’s elite has plenty of access to the products they so gleefully order to be destroyed at the border. If they don’t have their channels to import it, they simply go there.

What better recent example than the honeymoon of Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov? After receiving a watch worth over half a million dollars, Peskov rented an incredibly expensive yacht to travel along the coast of “degenerate gayropa.” Not the Crimea, which needs tourism, not Sochi, which is practically abandoned, no- Europe.

And that’s what this all comes down to really. Whenever you hear a Russian politician or their cowardly, submissive supporters babbling on about “sovereignty,” understand that it doesn’t mean the same thing that it does for the rest of the world. Sovereignty in Russian parlance means that the elite should have a blank check to continually and constantly rob their own people, siphoning off money from vast natural resources, so that they can go ahead and turn it over to the West which they love so much.

Yes, the Russian elite loves the West.  They love it so much they’d steal from their nation, leaving millions impoverished and deprived of basic civil rights just to make sure that they and only they are allowed to taste the finest the West has to offer. If you are an ordinary Russian, you should shut up and be happy with austerity, import bans, censorship, and churches, lots of churches. But for the elite? Never!

You see, when they send their children to live abroad in those degenerate countries, and when they spend Russian taxpayer money on Western luxury, it’s to protect the masses from the dangers of consumerism. These brave  souls are essentially sacrificing for the sake of others! They are the patriots!

Shifting the blame

So…looks like Mark Ames has hit a new low recently.

First of all, let me just say that I don’t follow the news about the subject of the article, eBay founder Pierre Omidyar. I don’t doubt that the guy is an asshole- billionaires tend to be that way. I’m bringing this article up for something else. While he somehow managed to avoid another rant about the “Wild 90’s,” which he clearly enjoyed very much and made a career off of, yet try to read this passage and not want to put your first through your screen.

In the 18 months since we broke the story, Ukraine has collapsed into war and despair, with up to 10,000 people killed and one and a half million internally-displaced refugees — and top US brass talk openly of a new Cold War with nuclear-armed Russia, while US military advisors train and arm Ukrainians to wage war on Russian-backed separatists.

Here that? Ukraine just “collapsed” into war and despair. That’s weird because to me and most of the sane world, it looks more like Russia invaded and annexed part of a sovereign nation, and then financed, armed, and supported an armed insurgency to potentially partition the country further.

But to Ames, the aggressor is the US, which after about a year of war and concrete proof of Russian involvement, finally decided to send a modest contingent of airborne troops to train the Ukrainian army and national guard. This is unbridled neocon aggression, whereas sending tanks, weapons, ammunition, UAVs, money, and soldiers to actually fight and take or attempt to take territory is apparently just fine- so long as it’s Russia that’s doing it.

Meanwhile the US government still isn’t sending offensive weapons to Ukraine, and most of the punditry I’ve seen on the topic seems dead set against the prospect. But you know how clever those lying neocons are. I’m sure their mantras about “no military solution” that they’ve been repeating since the conflict’s beginning are nothing but a clever ruse, just like their continued downsizing of the US military and reduction of deployments and bases in Europe. Who knows- maybe Ames will don a Fedora with a little “PRESS” card stuck in the band, and go off to locate the secret NATO bases circling Russia, thus revealing that the supposedly downsized or demobilized forces are in fact merely waiting in their secret underground staging areas for Operation Barbarossa II: The Revenge.

And what’s this about people talking about a Cold War with nuclear armed Russia? Bullshit. If anyone is constantly talking about nuclear war, relishing the thought with glee, it’s Russia’s leaders and media personalities. Let’s start with Putin, who made the claim that he’d put his nuclear forces on alert during the Crimean operation.

https://youtu.be/ZTqvzOBwO24

As Russian Avos points out, this was probably a lie, but even worse because it was said just to appeal to the vatnik demographic- those who, knowing full well they can never achieve the standards of living of the hated US, instead masturbate furiously to the thought of ruining it with nukes.

Need more examples? How about Dmitry Kiselyov’s famous TV moment, during which he assured the vatnik demographic that Russia can reduce America to “radioactive ash.”

https://youtu.be/k_kBxyX2Whw

And here’s an “advertisement” from a comely young future victim of human trafficking Novorossiya supporter, in which she reassures viewers that “If we lose, we will destroy the whole world.”

https://youtu.be/17HMqkM7br0

Add to this the fact that VK is full of pro-government groups circulating all kinds of nuking DC/New York porn.

Putin started this war, Putin wants this “Cold War” (which is destined to be as short and sad as the president himself) , he straight up needs it to stay in power- and yet according to Ames, Ukraine just “collapsed” into war and it’s the US that deserves scorn. Neocons! Neocons everywhere!

Honestly I have no idea just what the hell he’s trying to do. It almost looks as if he’s groveling out of some futile hope of being allowed to return to Russia.

Jesus, dude- go after Omidyar all you want but maybe it’s time to stop talking about Russia and Ukraine. You’ve really lost touch with reality on this side of the world.

William Butler Yeats (1865-1939)

THE SECOND COMING

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

The darkness drops again but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Peskov’s watch as a wake-up call

Import replacement. Self-sufficiency. The classical Russian endurance to hardship. Spiritual values. Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov doesn’t have time for any of these things. See all that patriotic bullshit is for ordinary Russians, not the elite. The elite gets to have weddings in an elite hotel where rooms start at $580 a night. The elite gets to wear watches worth over half a million dollars, in spite of their far lower official salary. The children of the elite, like Peskov’s daughter, prefer to live abroad, in the decadent West. It matches their lifestyle, after all.

In my early years in Russia this kind of thing wasn’t too shocking. I mean sure, the idea of a watch whose value could buy several decent houses in the US is by itself shocking, but in the glory days of Putin’s Russia, or better said the Golden Age of Medvedev the Great, such a watch would simply be a drop in a vast sea of conspicuous, dick-waving opulence. At the time I used to find the flaunting of such staggering income inequality to be highly offensive. If only I could have known what was coming.

In those days, the elite might have flaunted their power via yachts or diamond-encrusted skis, but they were so secure in their positions at the national trough that they didn’t care as to ordinary people’s reactions. Though the media was still largely controlled by Putin, the internet was practically liberated territory, and people spoke openly and freely about corruption. They didn’t necessarily do anything about it, but they at least felt totally free to express their opinions. To be honest they had good reasons- the glut of wealth from high oil prices and foreign investment meant that they too enjoyed a higher standard of living than they were used to, and thus it seemed like there was a sort of unspoken social contract between the government and the Russian people: “Don’t actually bother us or stand in our way, and you can do whatever you want, or whatever you can get away with.”

Now that situation has changed. While Putin displays a stunning lack of foresight and is clearly oblivious to material reality, his fire-from-the-hip actions in Ukraine have given him something he sorely needed- a seemingly real conflict with the West on which he can offload all the problems for which he or his system bear responsibility. Suddenly people who should know better have started mouthing the regime’s talking points, though they may be 180 degrees the opposite of what they said before. People started pretending like the things they constantly complained about every day for years just stopped. Patriotic propaganda, backed by threats both concrete and implicit, replaced the conspicuous consumerism of the previous years.

Peskov’s watch, at least for a moment, seemed like a dose of cold reality. Not only was it the talk of the Russian internet, but my students spontaneously brought it up in class yesterday evening. It’s really hard to pretend that Russia’s tormentor is the United States when the president’s personal secretary inexplicably possesses so much money to burn. It’s hard to pretend you’re happy limiting your vacations to Russia while the sons and daughters of the elite actually live in New York, Paris, London, or Brussels. Hypocrisy is tolerable when the hypocrites don’t demand your loyalty or submission, but now that’s exactly what’s happening.

None of this should be taken as a sign that mass unrest is spreading in Russia. For one thing, the country has a large elderly population, as well as a large population of middle-aged people who don’t see any change as possible and/or depend entirely on the state for their meager subsistence. These are the types of people who enthusiastically voice their support for Putin, shake their fist at the United States, fervently wish to see Russian armies openly invade Ukraine to drive out the “fascist junta” from Kyiv. They do not have male children of military age, they are ineligible to serve themselves, and they depend on the state, hence they are seemingly insulated from the consequences of these policies.

As a morbid consolation, these people are starting to feel the effect of inflation and cutbacks in medical care, meaning that privation, suffering, and even death might be the steep penalties these folks will have to pay for their refusal to stand up for their rights. Tragic, yes, but the price of such politics must ever be high, lest more people believe they can afford to indulge in them. So while these generations that support the status quo may be more numerous in number, they’re also the type of people most likely to drop like flies as the elite turn the screws of austerity ever tighter.

Where you might see a change is when the younger, internet savvy, more worldly generation starts watching their older relatives suffer and die due to healthcare cutbacks and low pensions unable to keep pace with the rate of inflation. These males are usually able to escape military service themselves, and I doubt that Russia will get so involved in Ukraine as to have dozens of dead and wounded streaming back into the country to create an Iraq War-style spectacle. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that the barracks collapse in Omsk killed more Russian soldiers than a week’s worth of combat in the Donbas. On the other hand, virtually all of these younger people have older relatives.

It’s only a matter of time before people start making connections between the money that’s missing from healthcare, education, and infrastructure on one hand, and the massive in-your-face opulence of the elite. How much medicine could Peskov’s watch buy? How many apartments? How many hospitals could be built or at least upgraded for the cost of Yakunin’s massive palatial compound? What could Russia’s citizens have got for the $1.8 billion embezzled from Russia’s space program? And all the while, the recipients of these ill-gotten gains will be lecturing the people on patriotism, enforcing it with the power of the state.

These days anti-Americanism and anti-Westernism is like a veil that gives the appearance of some sort of national unity, but it is a thin veil nonetheless. I’ve seen that by spending a few minutes talking to the most vehement vatniks, they eventually drop the whole act and start complaining about the injustice and corruption they see in their country. Those who weren’t vatniks but adopted the lingo in 2014 do so even more readily. Whether they say it out loud or not, they know. Everyone knows. Russia’s bane isn’t the United States or NATO bases around its periphery. It’s what’s around Peskov’s wrist.

The only people who have time to write this much shite about Russia are GCHQ and NSA arse-lickers, who have a vested interest in spreading propaganda to try and stem the pro-Russian tide that has been sweeping the western hemisphere in recent years.

All that wasted effort for nothing.

I resent that. Speaking as an NSA troll personally (although today's my day off or else I would be sending you some kiddie porn and tipping off Scotland Yard) I fail to detect any pro-Russian tide that is sweeping anything other than the community of angry basement dwellers.

As for spreading propaganda, our job is to simply passively monitor the kooks and log them as possible winners in the FEMA Rodeo Roundup events in their area. We leave the propaganda to mass media outlets, same as Putin does with his outlets such as RT.

Red team, blue team. Shirts and skins.

I don't really care if the Russians are engaging in propaganda. I'm just delighted the huge support for Russia in the western hemisphere is pissing the Americans and British off so much that they have resorted to an all-out propaganda campaign to counter it.

Good luck with that. We've had a hundred years of lies and bullshit from the Anglo-American mainstream media. Seeing through their every move and strategy is a walk in the park by now.
