Americans Have Never Been Dumber
Three years ago, we noted the dumbification of America was accelerating as SAT scores hit record lows. It appears the need for the Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too has never been greater as Bloomberg reports that students in the high school class of 2015 turned in the lowest critical reading score on the SAT college entrance exam in more than 40 years, with all three sections declining from the previous year.
The mean score on the math portion of the SAT, 511, is the lowest since 1999. The highest possible score on each section is 800.
The reading score of 495 is the worst since 1972, according to data provided by the College Board.
The test administrator reported the lowest score for the SAT's writing section since it began in 2005.

I was reading about how applicants to the Bar exam who failed jumped double digits from last year. Even the sharks are getting dumber. Our feeling good school system is failing society in a horrible way.

It's sad and tragic, that while Public School years have lengthened over the last 20 years, the students are dumber than ever.
Prior to 1995 the maximum score on the SAT was 1600. After 1995 the maximum score is 2400. The math and reading scores were "recentered" to allow comparison of average scores over time but its all just mental masturbation now to compare scores over time.
Understood, but do a little research and you'll find that the test isn't as difficult as it used to be.
There was huge political pressure on the College Board folks to make the test easier, so that academia could show progress (or slow the decline) in test scores.

Public schools spend the most on the least likely to succeed. Got a kid that has a medical brain malfunction and he gets a full school time minder or gets shipped to a high cost intensive training school. It seems that higher education rewards the gifted hard workers with scholarships. Just the opposite in the K-12 government schools.

I was horrified to find out that only 15% of kids were using cursive in 2006 on the writing portion of their SATs. Cursive is being phased out to make room for all of the new BS tests and many kids can no longer read it which means they won't even be able to read the Constitution. Isn't being able to write a cursive personal signature among the most basic of skills? It has been proven that writing cursive activates different portions of the brain than typing or print and it seems they are screwing kids out of this so make sure you teach them yourselves.
A while back I found a plain paper card where my grandmother and another girl were writing beautiful and eloquent calligraphy notes to one another. I enquired about these notes to my Uncle and he told me they from her 5th grade class graduation! I was absolutely shocked at the vocabulary and skill contained in those letters. We are already retarded and are kids are going to be worse.

We had a presentation from a man who was advocating teaching children cursive in preschool. At first many were reticent but he said " give your child a crayon and a piece of paper and what does he do? Draws circles in a continuous loop. Myself and wife are both young members of upper management for large firms I got my directorship at age 33 she got hers senior position at 29. For both of us moving up was very easy not because we are geniuses but simply because you only have to think critically, be solution orientated and have a no problem attitude. People are so F'ing lazy that there wasn't really any competition. She has a BA in Biology from Stony Brook and was a honor roll student in HS. Studied her ass off. I am a college dropout who left to start my own business to make some real money and sold out when a customer said "You want to make more money with less head aches?" I said sure show me the money and never looked back. Both of us are Libertarian leaning.

There are actually about a dozen states where you can join the bar without a JD/LLB, if you have "friends" at a local law firm and can squeeze through the law office experience/study program (a practice which dates back to before law schools even existed). But you do have to be smart and well read (in laws) to pass the bar exam without going to law school.
I had a life long friend who became a terrible pothead, he went from QLD to LA while a mid-teen to study lead guitar at GIT and he came back with a heavy pothead habit. And a heavy beer habit soon after and he used to go through phases where he was lucid and intelligent. Then he would spend two to three weeks solid on an epic bender, I'd see him at the start and at the end, and I swear he would lose 50 IQ points after 2 to 3 weeks, and could not longer follow a conversation or muster a thought. Plastique brain atrophy from chemical abuse.
So I would tell him he was a complete idiot, and behavior unacceptable, which he was at that point, and straiten himself up, etc. But he got sectioned three times while in that state, before he got to 25. After the third time the state declared him mentally disabled and put him on a pension for life and his parent bought him a home and car. He ruined both of course. So I would tell him to clean his shit up, and he would, his unit, himself. he's ring me and I'd visit and find he's drinking coffee and his unit is spotless and he's clean shaved, eating actual food. And after about three weeks he would always be back sharp and intelligent once again - the friend I liked. Almost no impairment, at all.
So I suspect a lot of the above graph trends are just recording chronic substance and booze abuse and not much else that's more fundamental than that.

Without fail, in every school district, the Hyphenated-Americans scored at the bottom, every time.
