Initial Jobless Claims Jumps Most In 2 Months - Unchanged Since End Of QE3

Tyler Durden's picture

Initial jobless claims have risen for 5 of the last 6 weeks with the last week showing a 12k rise to 282k. This is the biggest weekly rise in 2 months and raises the claims print overall to 2-month highs. Perhaps most remarkable is that initial jobless claims are now back up to unchanged since the end of QE3.

Clearly it is people who do not want to work. 190,000 jobs were added in August. /sarcasm.

Now that we "know" 190,000 jobs were added in August and we also know unemployment applications rose by 12,000, clearly the labor participation rate would have risen, right?

Noise. with all the retiring going on, the real employment rate is less than 50%.

More takers than makers is a recipe for disaster.

hedge accordingly.

I don't think that ratio matters any more, LOP.  How many ranchers does it take to tend to 1000 head of cattle?

This just in, the 4 week average initial unemployment claims number is still the lowest it's been in 15 years and just about the lowest it's been in 40 years. That 12k rise is probably the canary in the coal mine. Buy, Buy, Buy more gold. But ZH said all the statistics are made up? what to do.

Job situation is terrible in this country. And you know review of resume services are on the rise. Job market is really competitive, so I understand that people are desperate. To be honest, it is has been a while since jobless rate was high even though there was supposed to a lot of summer jobs (or it does not count, I am just not fully sure). Anyways, I am still looking forward to changes. But if our government has to understand that people need jobs and they have to give it!
