Pentagon Admits Russian Spy Ship Discovered Near US Submarine Base, Heading For Cuba

Tyler Durden's picture

On the heels of the unprecedented proximity of 5 Chinese naval ships in the Bering Sea, U.S. military satellites have been tracking a Russian spy ship - capable of cutting undersea communications cables and other sensors - since it was spotted in the north Atlantic last month off the coast of Kings Bay, Ga., home to the U.S. Navy’s East Coast ballistic missile submarine fleet. As FOX News reports, The Pentagon says the ship is transiting toward its next destination - Cuba.

At the U.S. sub base in Georgia, there are six Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines, known as “boomers,” each capable of firing 24 Trident intercontinental ballistic missiles. Each missile holds up to 10 independent nuclear warheads. In addition to the ballistic missile subs, there are two other guided-missile subs capable of firing hundreds of Tomahawk cruise missiles.

As FOX News reports, a Russian intelligence ship, capable of cutting undersea communications cables and other sensors, has been spotted by the U.S. military off the coast of Kings Bay, Ga., home to the U.S. Navy’s East Coast ballistic missile submarine fleet.

U.S. military satellites have been tracking the Russian spy ship since it was spotted in the north Atlantic last month and slowly began transiting toward its next destination -- Cuba.  A senior military official said the ship is now about 300 miles off the coast of the U.S., as it heads toward the island.

Another senior defense official told Fox News that while the Pentagon is tracking the Russian intel ship, the Russian ship “remains in international waters.”

This news comes on the heels of Chin'as unprecedented proimity to the US coastline, and is not the first time for Russia...

In January, another Russian spy ship was spotted moored in Havana harbor in Cuba.  Russian intel ships have been spotted in Cuba on a number of occasions in the past year.

The Washington Free Beacon was first to report the most recent sighting of the Russian spy ship.

In April, the head of the U.S. military’s Northern Command, Adm. Bill Gortney, confirmed the presence of two other Russian military ships operating near the United States at the time.

“They were the same ships that took part in the Russian-Chinese naval exercises which recently concluded in the Sea of Japan,” the official said.

*  *  *

Of course, this is no surprise to US military...

When asked if the U.S. had similar spy ships off the coast of Russia, he answered, “Of course we do, what do you think all those ‘oceanographic ships’ are doing, studying whales?”

Don't people realize what we are talking about? Six submarines doesn't sound like much, does it? Until you do some primary school math: 6 submarines. times 24 Tridents, times 10 warheads = 1440 nuclear bombs.

Imagine: 1440 cities whiped off the face of the earth within half an hour.

Humans should not have this kind of power, because they have a track record of behaving as irresponsible as monkeys.

Sounds good. You know what's even better?

There is no rule in war saying you can't nuke yourself, and one of the benefits is that no other country can physically stop you from doing it. There's not a single missile defense shield that can protect you from a self inflicted head shot.

America is called the breadbasket of the world, it'd be a shame if the top 12 inches of topsoil had to be carted off as nuclear waste, and all of the chemical fertilizer plants suddenly went 'Poof'...

The war of the future won't take more than 5 minutes to ensure everyone dies the same.

So you know who to hate. To get a war started you need a LOT of hate. Only the military does this sort of thing cold blooded. But they need white hot hate in order to get civilian support.

It works the same everywhere. I think Goering pointed it out.

And about half the dupes posting here fall for some brand of hate. It is ALL useful.

To THEM. Who ever they are. It is of no use to you. In fact it will hurt you. But you love your hate. It FEELs so good. Roll in it. Revel in it. Delicious hate.

It is a deadly sin for a reason. Not because of what it does to THEM. Because of what it does to you. It clouds the mind and corrodes the soul.

Questions for the more intelligent and well-hung droogs...

Who's watching the old barge stacked with coal, or the crude oil container ship wander around the Gulf of Mexico with an EMP capable missile waiting below deck and enough explosives on board to sink the evidence?

Then KAPOW!! right through the eye of a nasty gulf hurricane, detonating 200 miles above fucking Dorthy and Toto's farm in Kansas. Say "buh-bye" to all electrical systems in North America.

Who would we blame then? The Russians, the North Koreans, the Chinese, or the bored Pentagon fucks?

Who's watching the crusie ship, or the container ship pass through the Panama Canal with enough explosives to blow the Panama canal back into the 17th Century and stop all equitorial shipping between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans?

Now, THAT would be real 'quantitative tightening' of world trade. Don't ya think?

Who is watching the old fishing trallers accidently dragging their anchors over undersea fiber optic cables on both side of the U.S.? Or the fleet of nuclear submarines that can tap into those fiber optic cables and send a bolt of love amperage to the land based receiving stations, frying them into molten plastic and copper?

Either way we can say "buh-bye" to our Internet dependency and lame (and good) jokes here in ZH land.

As to tapping into undersea fibre cables, and somehow zapping the shore infrastructure, you would certainly be able to degrade (probably destroy) the repeater modules, but that's about all.  Of course, that in itself would be sufficient to stop signal traffic, and so render the cable at least temporarily useless.

The shore power supplies are pretty tough, HV systems, with all the associated HV protection, so the energy pulse delivered to the cable (inner and outer conductors) would have to be very substantial, especially in view of transmission losses / wavefront degradation over a line optimised for HV dc rather than HF propagation.

There was a very good article linked by ZH some years ago running a possible scenario where the US really overstepped the mark, and the Chinese (with Russian "help") were able to stop the US dead in their tracks (and "reclaim" Diego Garcia as part of reparations). Very credible, very covert operation using Sunburn type missiles carried (and launched) from standard, completely anonymous shipping containers - a technology which we KNOW Russia AND China have developed for purely logistics reasons.  With annual Global container movements in the order of 135 million units, detection of "unconventional payloads" without disruption of World trade, might be challenging. http://www.lcfd.co.uk/knowledge-bank/freight-movement-stats/global-conta...

As to "Middle East Terrorists" and their "Dirty Bomb" popular scaremongering - why would they bother with a primitive (so ineffective) weapon when there's the Black Market. Everyone from the top down "has their price", and the ME has their fair share of very smart strategic thinkers, despite the US mindset that they are all as think as the brick.

I'm hoping this is a hoax /spoof. The possibility that this is even partially true is very unsettling, - http://documentarystorm.com/how-buy-nukes-black-market/

Really, a non-story and smoke screen/disinfo campaign of some type. No sense worrying about some 'hypothetical' russian/chinese invasion; c'est la vie. First of all, it would not take both countries to overrun the USSA; China could do it all by themsleves, and they would not even need weapons. Demographically speaking, there are nearly twice as many of them, and they are a lot younger than we are. They could just come over here and trample us to death, while we were otherwise occupied watching the latest 'reality' offering also known as pablum for the brain dead, stuffing pork rinds into our mouths and wondering if our welfare check has arrived yet. I am not sure what it will take for America to wake the fuck up, but it may already be too late.

U.S. military satellites have been tracking the Russian spy ship since it was spotted in the north Atlantic last month and slowly began transiting toward its next destination -- Cuba.

So how do we KNOW the destination of a Russian spy ship?  Are we guessing, and watching the face of Putin as he reads this for the first time?
