#Wynn-ing? Casino Magnate Joins Trump Campaign

Tyler Durden's picture

In yet another somewhat surreal twist in The Donald's path to The White House, Fox Business reports the long, sometimes contentious relationship between Donald Trump and Steve Wynn has taken another turn, with the Las Vegas casino magnate serving as an unofficial adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign. Having known each other for 30 years, Fox's Gasparino notes that they have clashed in the past (Wynn on Turmp in 1998 "He's a fool," and Trump on Wynn "he's a very strange guy.") but in recent years both have been critical of the leftward tilt of the Democratic Party and president Obama.

As Fox Business reports,

People close to both men say Trump has been in constant contact with Wynn in recent weeks as his insurgent campaign to win the Republican 2016 presidential nomination continues to pick up steam—something press officials representing Trump and Wynn would not deny. These people say Wynn has offered advice and counsel to Trump on various issues, including whether Trump would rule out a third-party run, as he is expected to do later this afternoon.

“They are talking regularly,” said one GOP operative with first-hand knowledge of the conversations. “Trump calls and asks Steve ‘how am I doing,” and then Steve tells him.”

Michael Weaver, a spokesman for Wynn, told FOX Business that Wynn “speaks regularly to many of the candidates and whenever possible gives his best thoughts and ideas to them.  He and Mr. Trump have known each other socially for many years.   His conversations with Mr. Trump have not been much different than his conversations with the other candidates.”

Weaver added: “I’m aware that he suggested to Mr. Trump that a third-party run would be unwise.”

Likewise, Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks also would not deny the discussions. “They have been friends for 30 years and they have always had a great relationship,” she told FOX Business.

Despite some tensions over the 30 years they have known each other, Gasparino reports, the two have more recently patched up their relationship.

According to one published report, Trump attended Wynn’s wedding, and according to people who know both men, the relationship has flourished to the point that Trump is now in nearly constant contact with Wynn about his presidential campaign.

Trump’s choice of Wynn, the head of Wynn Resorts, as an unofficial political adviser seems odd since the casino tycoon isn’t known for his political acumen, but according to GOP operatives, it fits in with the temperament of Trump’s campaign. At least so far, Trump has eschewed the normal trappings of a major presidential campaign. He hasn’t hired top political advisers, and according to one GOP operative, he hasn’t commissioned one private poll to weigh voter sentiment.

*  *  *

Of course, if you believe Paull Farrel, none of this matters - the market is done no matter what...

A mega crash is coming, dropping half off its peak, down below Dow 5,000. Not just another 1,000-point correction like last month. But a heart-stopping collapse coinciding with the 2016 elections ... then a long systemic recession ... probably lasting till the 2020 presidential election, maybe longer ... no matter who’s in the White House, Doanld Trump, Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton.

Trump surrounds himself with business winners, who like young pretty women. Wait we should pick our leaders who never have accomplished anything and surround themselves with ugly hateful bitches, like Obama. And if you down vote me, I am sorry, I am not the one who gave you your genes and I can't stop time

Who better than a bankrupt casino owner to run a bankrupt casino:

Discipline, Not Belief

Knowledge is not power. It is nothing more than belief, superstition waiting to be replaced by the next superstition. Saying so was what got Jesus in so much trouble, and what the drive-by Christian empire has been so feverishly trying to overturn ever since, temporarily turning back the clock, like all empires. The one and only path forward is discipline.

They don’t say come to the coast for vacation and stay for probation by accident. Embed skills in your body and talent in your mind, and keep your spirit still, at the perception multiplexer. Let only your mind and body travel, to their purpose, recognition and execution.

Oops! Marvin the Martian thought he was going to eliminate cash, and control the world with credit, employing public education to slot children into efficient social classes, impoverished for the purpose. Now, one after the other, those social class event horizons are crashing into reality, and all the cheaters feel cheated, surprise. “I played by the rules…”

Tell that to the folks being hunted for a lifetime, by Family Law.

One thing you learn quite quickly, in a world of suits, paper, and expert opinion, is that whatever you tell the robots they will expend all their time, energy and resources to dispel, because after all, the intelligent individual investor cannot hope to exceed the irrational market of the majority. On every job there is an informal authority, without which the formal authority may only implode.

Reconnaissance, your primary occupation, is building blinds, from which your children may learn, to identify the gravity epicenter, from further and further distance, beginning at the epicenter, which means that you must be able to exist both inside and outside the empire simultaneously, relative to it. Given a choice between Clinton, Bush or Trump, the choice is Trump, because at least he’s entertaining.

Make no mistake, however; their positions all depend entirely upon hunting you down and destroying your family, as an example to others. That’s the job. The US Constitution is just the latest bait and swap, in a very long line, promising due process only to change the rules to ensure the outcome. “I pledge allegiance to the empire for which it stands…”

As the majority crashes into the wall of reality, layer by layer, it finds itself helpless, voting again, expecting a different outcome. Don’t assign intelligence and emotion to a robot and expect anything other than to short yourself. Those dc computers are just stupid machines, telling humans with no experience in faith what to do, and as you can see, the planet is overwhelming the empire’s infrastructure, a positive credit feedback loop for stupid, as it always does.

Seems like wherever I go, there’s a kid with enough instinct to get on the road, but not enough instinct to listen, telling me what is and what isn’t, like it’s a debate or a negotiation for gang leadership, without enough sense to stay out of the way of an empire steamroller. Funny, the robots find me cruel and unfeeling, when I tell them no, after beginning with yes.

You are in outlier territory now, so throw away the retro-statistics. The further you look in a telescope, the further behind in time you get, so why would you accept the assumption of a speed limit, beyond the empire.

I found this site as all hell was breaking loose in late summer 2008.  After a couple of years I finally opened an account.  I kept my mouth shut most of the time because I was learning so much from the old-timers who are mostly gone now.  In recent years, I have to skip certain stories, or at least avoid posting comments on certain threads, because there's so much FreeRepublic type "Reggie Love / Gay Muslim Kenyan" haw-haw stuff going on here.  At least the original members who were racist fanatics had an ethos that went with it and had some interest to it.

I'm not much into Liberals either.  They seem to think the inevitable decline of Empire can deterioration of a debt-based economy can be fixed if we'd just all be nicer to each other and trust Authority.  Anybody still tied into the Red/Blue false dichotomy has exposed themselves as not having much of interest to add to a conversation.  That includes the louder-than-thou Righties as well. They can't even spell for the most part.  What a bunch of loosers.  (My little meta-joke there amuses me greatly, I'll admit).

Fri, 09/04/2015 - 15:54 | 6510872 swmnguy
swmnguy's picture

I don't get it either.  "Left" and "Right" have no meaning in America anymore.  If you look at policy and strip off the names, Ronald Fucking Reagan couldn't get nominated today...as a Democrat.

A long time ago I think it was George F. Will who described American politics as "a game played between the 40-yard lines."  Today it's played between the 40 and the 20, on the right side of the field.

Our political vocabulary has been meticulously drained of meaning over the past 40 years.  That's intentional.   Soon enough, maybe even now, Americans will be incapable of having a meaningful conversation about politics because we won't have the words to describe things.

Oh, and yes, they do want "full-on Mussolini."  Watch Trump's body language.  Trump himself seems to be a political cipher.  Impossible to tell what he actually stands for.  He doesn't even complete sentences.  We have to watch to whom he panders, from whom he looks for support.  That's an ugly cross-section of America right there.

Trump himself is very clever and cunning.  He's following a path I've speculated on over the years, but was hoping would be taken by someone from whatever we want to consider "The Left."  That is, adopting the mantle and paraphrenelia of patriotism, using modern media manipulation techniques, and trying to get Americans to vote for their real interests, instead of the pop-culture shibboleths that dominate American sensibilities these days.  Instead, we get Trump, and he's claiming every single shibboleth he can; so many at once he can't possibly make sense.  And if he wants to take America to the Right, but without any of the social graces of the Established GOP, things are going to get mighty weird.  There's a lot to be scraped from the bottom of our barrel.

Thanks.

I just turned 49 years old.  Each President in my lifetime (LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, Obama) has been further to the Right than the one before.

Again, I said "Look at policy and strip off the names." And of course correct for which group which President considered his base to pander to.

Reagan couldn't even propose the Welfare and Death Penalty bills Clinton got passed.  The GW Bush nor Nixon Administrations couldn't have attacked civil liberties or government transparency with the gusto Obama has brought to the task.

People try to call Nancy Pelosi a Socialist?  Christ on a Stick, might as well call her a Denny's Grand Slam Breakfast; makes just as much sense.

That's NOT what right wing is supposed to be.  I had always hoped Republicans would embrace capitalism and end crony capitalism, but it looks like crony capitalism is supported by BOTH sides.  Republicans not only dropped the ball, they strapped rocket packs on it.  What we have is a congress full of armchair experts and career criminals.  Right now you can do no worse flipping a coin. But you certainly should understand the difference between Democrats and Marxists.  Haven't you seen that?  If John F. Kennedy were alive today, he would be treated by the mainstream press as a right wing radical.

Fri, 09/04/2015 - 18:35 | 6511538 swmnguy

There actually are a few Marxists in America today.   You can find them in coffeeshops just off college campuses.  And that is the only place you will find them.

Our vocabulary is so vandalized we can't even use the same words to mean the same things.  What people are calling "Marxist" is actually Corporatist.  There's no mainstream figure advocating the banning of private ownership of the means of production.  All of them favor some degree of consolidation of Government and Corporate power.  They differ somewhat as to which entity should have more control, and some of the cosmetic features.  But they're all Fascists, as Mussolini defined the term.  And the definition of "Fascism" is about all I'd take Mussolini's word for.

Nobody on the Republican roster will shrink government power one iota.  They might refocus it in different directions from Democrats, but that's about it.  John F. Kennedy was actually somewhat to the left of Reagan.  Reagan couldn't get interviewed on Fox News today, or nominated for office as a Democrat, because he was too far to the Left.  Heck, Bernie Sanders is way to the Right of most Socialists, or he would be if we had any Socialists.

I don't disagree with your points, however.  I just think we need new terminology, because the words we have don't mean anything anymore.  On this process, George Orwell had many very salient observations.

It's right wing to me too, but Wall Street and Hollywood have gotten themselves branded as  champagne do-gooder socialists. Sorry Don but I read you like a book and it's a short story. You are nothing more than a continuation of the fraud against the american people. A real man w/a conscience would'nt do that - once more - to a already beat down nation. Intentialy I would add.

Steve Wynn? That's the same asshole who threw how much cash to elect Obama? Glad you got your financial ass handed to you Steve.

Superman where are you now?

When eveythings gone wrong somehow

Men of steel men of power

Are losing control by the hour

Too many men,Too many people, making too many problems.

If I have time later I'll come back and tell you what I really think.

Trump, Zion's neocons' trojan horse.

Watching it all just makes me all schadenfreude for the American people.

Think people: If the noiZ-media is promoting it, and power is permitting it, it's bad for you.

Zion is a scheme, not an ethnicity..

Even poisoned Kool-Aid tastes nice.

"Ney, ney," says Fey.

They hated Ron Paul, which is why they IGNORED and marginalized him.

They love Trump because he is an instrument of power and tyranny; A false-candidate inculcating the American people with Zion's neocons' updated messages of hate, dictatorship, and societal self-immolation.

Trump will leave the scene down the road and the right will then adopt his message, really their message, with some supposedly more compassionate changes.

Yup, even poisoned Kool-Aid tastes nice; Even has a wonderful almond after taste.

Zion is a scheme, not an ethnicity..

Two of Trump's are married into the tribe. Trump loves Bibi. Steve Weinberg joins Trump's campaign. Trump is a quick learner. He knows who's dick he's gotta suck if he wants to be president.

What is this is joke or something? A President who's accomplished something in life, who's built and run a company? Who's intelligent and thoughtful? This is preposterous. What are people thinking, Trump for President.

Wynn has connections to China. Might be useful voiding war.

Obama's cult of personality has undergone attrition. Except for Valerie Jarrett, Muslim Brotherhood, and John Brennan at CIA, it seems that Obama has alienated himself from everybody else in the world including our former allies. That's not good.

LVS is WYNN's rivial or competitor and for some CRAAAAZZZZYYYYYYY reason LVS has barely been taken down throughout the last year and a half despite the MASSIVE crash in Macau and China, whereas WYNN crashed from $240 to $71. And LVS has WAY more exposure in Macau than WYNN does. Lets see how many smart ones can figure out what's going on here. I'll give you a hint. LVS is run by the same kind of people as AMZN and FB. Two stocks that refuse to drop.
