Remembering 9/11: The Wolf In 'Patriot Act' Sheep's Clothing

This is a piece I wrote last year for Ron Paul’s Voices of Liberty. Now although mainstream media has all but put a gag order on 9/11 memorial coverage, I believe this article’s message has never been more relevant and so I’m posting again at what is obviously poignant time. I find it odd that we have 10 Hollywood blockbusters made each year about the holocaust 75 years on, but only 14 years after the event American media will no longer discuss 9/11, even upon the anniversary. It is perhaps the most telling phenomenon about the secretiveness and mystery surrounding the horrific tragedy.
It was the sixth week of my first job fresh out of college. I was still eagerly excited for each new day. Having moved stateside from a small town in Canada to finish up university and then on to the big city of Chicago, I was still in awe of America. I was working in the north building of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange on the corner of Madison and Wacker. It was early morning and I was on the phone with Paul Salvio from our New York office when...
...the phone went dead.
The day was September 11, 2001. Our New York office was on the 92nd floor of the World Trade Center Tower 1. None of the employees who had arrived to work that day survived. It is a moment that elicits strong emotions within me to this day and I know I’m not alone.
In the days and weeks that followed, while the world came together to mourn those lost and to condemn those responsible, our policymakers in Washington were working feverishly to find opportunity in this tragedy. Forty-five days after 9/11, President Bush signed into law the U.S. Patriot Act.
The implication of the ironically titled bill is well described by a report published in March 2009 by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The report, called “Reclaiming Patriotism,” suggests that the Patriot Act “fundamentally altered the relationship Americans share with their Government.”
Politicians took advantage of a moment of extreme duress for the American people to push through a bill that not only breached the spirit of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights but also directly contradicts the rights guaranteed under the 1st and 4th Amendments. The Patriot Act gave powers to the executive branch of our government it was never meant to have. Such restriction of powers was mandated by the founding fathers through the legal framework of which this nation is governed; a legal framework of which each legislator is sworn to uphold upon taking office.
The ACLU’s 2009 report provides an interesting and unintended perspective on the fundamental dangers of the Patriot Act because it was published prior to revelations made by National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. Note the following excerpt from the ACLU 2009 report:
“Worse, it authorizes the government to engage in this expanded domestic spying in secret, with few, if any, protections built in to ensure these powers are not abused, and little opportunity for Congress to review whether the authorities it granted the government actually made Americans any safer.” ?
But such fears were repeatedly calmed by those who were handed the authority over and entrusted with such powers.
And so, we see, concerns about Patriot Act abuses at the time of the ACLU report were only hypothetical and thus easily and reassuringly refuted by those in charge of the surveillances being done under the authority of the Patriot Act.
And then Edward Snowden entered the room...
Snowden revealed that not only were the very abuses predicted by the ACLU taking place but they were part of a larger and well defined strategy that had been intentionally hidden from the American people.
Many of the surveillance programs revealed by Snowden are part of subsequent legislative bills that fall under the umbrella and authority of rights granted by the Patriot Act. In a sense it has become the “Pandora’s box” against the rights and freedoms of the American people. Since the Patriot Act opened the floodgates, we’ve had a steady stream of bills further expanding the (illegal) powers to those in charge.
The claims that these programs are unlawful are not simply laymen opinion. Several courts across the nation have heard various cases and determined that many aspects of the programs are in breach of the U.S. Constitution. ? Yet, no one has been prosecuted and the programs under the Patriot Act not only continue but are expanding.
History and common sense tell us that those in power will always attempt to beget more power. Several independent studies prove that these programs have very little impact on protecting Americans from terrorism while the Snowden leaks evidence the wide abuses taking place for political motivations. The Patriot Act has become the enemy it claims necessitates its existence. It is the most prolific form of terrorism against the American citizenry (and many of our allies) today.
The argument so often touted by beneficiaries of the Patriot Act is that trading freedom for safety is an acceptable trade. That argument is not only invalid it is unsound. Freedom and safety are not mutually exclusive and even if they were the slippery slope aspect of such way of thinking makes it a false proposition. If you haven’t done so, you must fully examine the Snowden revelations to comprehend the extent of the tyranny authorized and enacted by the Patriot Act and its subsidiary Acts.
Let me bring this to a sharp point for any who have yet to feel it—a terrible thing happened to this nation on 9/11 that none of us expected ever would. We felt vulnerable for maybe the first time within the borders of our nation, the strongest nation on this earth. It changed many of us in very profound ways. At that point, in that moment, all we wanted to feel is that it would and that it could never happen again. And so we entrusted our leaders to work together on implementing policies that would ensure our freedom be safe from those who want to take it from us.
The Patriot Act was sold to Americans as a shield to defend our freedom, that it was to ensure our rights as guaranteed by our constitution and the Bill of Rights would be safe from evildoers. However, the sad reality is that our leaders took our moment of need as an opportunity to further enhance the powers of the state over the power of the people. We know this now thanks to some incredibly brave and heroic Americans like Snowden who gave up their individual freedom to defend the freedom of a nation. It is on the rest of us now to stand up to the tyranny of those whose interests are narrow and selfish and whose lies and deceit represent the most monumental and immediate threat to our freedom.

Additional details emerged Friday about the effect of the collapse of 7 World Trade Center on investigations being conducted by the New York offices of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, both of which were housed in the building.
The SEC has not quantified the number of active cases in which substantial files were destroyed. Reuters news service and the Los Angeles Times published reports estimating them at 3,000 to 4,000. They include the agency's major inquiry into the manner in which investment banks divvied up hot shares of initial public offerings during the high-tech boom.
The EEOC said documents from about 45 active cases were missing and could not be easily retrieved from any backup system. One of these cases was a sexual harassment charge filed on Sept. 10 against Morgan Stanley, one of the prime corporate victims of the World Trade Center disaster.
What gives me hope on 9-11 anniversaries is that ...

... the likes of Cheney, Bush and Rumsfeld are reviled both in the US and around the world.

The propaganda and lies spouted on media outlets is hard to take, and what's worse, is that these untruths are broadcast using the identities of those who died at the hands of criminals who have never been brought to justice.
But what America has shown in the fourteen years since, is that we are stronger than those who would try to oppress us, and we will not succumb to the distortion of the truth to sacrifice who we are as a people.
What those who orchestrated these attacks failed to realize, is that over time their intentions will be revealed. They will serve as a necessary catalyst for current and future generations to wake up to larger truths about society, economy, and life. And they can do nothing to change that.
But what America has shown in the fourteen years since, is that we are stronger than those who would try to oppress us, and we will not succumb to the distortion of the truth to sacrifice who we are as a people.
Not by my survey. Now, out of 185 people surveyed I've found 14 (less than 8%) who know what they're looking at when shown a video of WTC7 collapsing. "All" have seen WTC1&2 collapse hundreds of times.
And how do they react?
A few ask me if I think we actually landed on the moon. Most say they don't trust our government. Some just cover their eyes and say they don't want to know.
In every case where I've followed up on a person I have enlightened I have found they have not done anything. They haven't brought the information to the attention of "their" acquaintances. They have not asked "their" representatives about it. They still talk about the fake horse race between the two parties to be our president as if it was democracy in action.
Well, actually, it is democracy in action. People thoroughly indoctrinated, brain washed, dis-informed, mis-informed, mal-informed and not-informed, deciding who should be king of the hill for the next four years.

Of course. Accepting any version of an inside job story on 9/11 is like admitting that your father is a serial killer or a pedophile. It means reviewing everything you've ever been told. Accepting the embarrassment of having defended him (AS Mark Twain said, "It's easier to fool people than to prove to them that they've been fooled"). Most people around the world can't bring themselves to even consider "what really happened" and it's sad because on 9/11 we were not attacked by a handful of muslms with box cutters. I met a pilot who was in the air on Sept 11 and he described the chaos of that day. He said that it was such an incredibly clear day that there were students up everywhere and it was super spooky for them when they had to try and land in unplanned airports. He said he rufused to do what they told him because he had no reason to believe their demands to land were authentic (he chose to take that stance to find out WTF was going on), finally they told him that there had been a terrorist attack. He was in Nam so he wasn't going to be run around by some young punk.
He quit his job after the hellish TSA came to power because flying "was no longer fun" anymore. He sells cars now and he didn't believe any of the MSM story.

There is a very recent suggestion that groups like Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth are making the government very nervous. This past Sunday, the Smithsonian cable channel ran a strange "documentary" that admitted the government theory about the collapse of the Twin Towers was wrong.

The theory the documentary now advances is that residual aluminum from the crashed planes caused the fires to burn hot enough to weaken the steel. The fuel from the planes wasn't enough.
A very lame theory, one already dismissed by others (the molten metal seemed dripping from the towers was not aluminum), but the documentary provides some evidence that the contra research into the real cause of 911 is having a substantial effect.
Of course, the documentary did not address the fact that WTC 7 and the smaller Custom House building fell.
You have to powder aluminum for it to be an effective accelerant (actually, an oxidizing agent). Solid hunks or sheets of it will not burn (try burning shredded piece of a coke can for your own proof).

I don't go around talking about this all the time but for when it does come up I found a way to get people to look at the towers collapse a tad more skeptically. You discuss building a 8' (or bigger) recreation of a tower including steel, concrete, rebar, glass, thoroughly moored into solid bedrock, furniture, hell you can even add M80s if you want. Then you imagine launching projectiles of kerosene at the building. Now do you think that model is going to implode on itself and end up a neat pile of concrete, dust and mangled metal? Nope, you could do this all day and it would still be there. You could burn the thing for a week and you would still have a metal cage standing at the very least. When you finally did get the building to fall it would keel over in one direction or another and will not end up a neat pile of rubble.
It's not perfect and of course a recreation of the original would be a nearly impossible task but you get the idea.
I suppose when you have a Historic General called "The Father of a Nation," it's reasonable to believe you're children, and you'll listen to anything.

There you have it. That says it all really. The Patriot Act was introduced and used by the US gov exactly as Hitler used his Enabling Act after the Reichstag fire...to carry out a coup d'état against democratic governance and accountability and turn America into a fascist police state, using the step-by-step method.
Everything that's happened since then provides the evidence. Even the march to war matches what Hitler did.
It will only get worse unless and until American people wake up, rise up and take back their country.

Do not die in your sin, be reconciled to your creator; you know that your life does not end with your physical death because God has put that knowledge into the heart of every person. As we took off I glanced at the phone. lost signal going thru 3000 feet. I had to pull back throttles so didn't have much time to look furthur . BTW, on DC-8 aircraft the flight engineer sets power for takeoff and handles the throttles. after a certain altitude have to pull back power so engines don't overheat.
The USA at that time didn't have the GSM cell phone system we had in Europe. IMpossible to make phone call at 33,000 feet. UNLESS you have a SAT phone.
Our aircraft had SATPHONE in cockpit and the Presidents bedroom and the conference room. WE hauled heads of state by contract.

You would have been over the Atlantic and out of coverage pretty quickly, then. Not so much altitude as being 20 miles from the nearest tower.
Just for reference: the "Digital AMPS" system in use at the time in the USA had spotty coverage at that altitude. There were instances of phones ringing in carry-on luggage, for example.The antenna pattern for that technology was not as precise as for GSM.
But it was spotty. Probably wouldn't support any lengthy conversations. For one thing, handovers wouldn't work very well and you'd fly out of a tower's coverage in a matter of a few minutes. Or more likely, a few seconds.

I didn't mention the "fly by wire" scenario though I believe that's exactly what happened. The "planes" made maneuvers with very high g-forces that experienced airline pilots said were beyond the stress levels of commercial aircraft. Most people don't realize it but all modern airliners can be remote controlled. The Airbus allows pilot over-ride of remote control but on newer Boeing planes the pilots can be locked out of ALL the controls - effectively in the cockpit but not able to control the aircraft. The 767 didn't have that oem "feature" but could be retrofitted.

We Muricans have been conditioned well to expect TSA like treatment (metal detectors, pat-downs and bag searches) when attending leisure events such as movies and sporting contests.
