Stunning Video Emerges As 1000s Flee California Wildfires After Governor Calls 'State Of Emergency'

Tyler Durden's picture

As if the drought was not disheartening enough, wildfires are now raging across many parts of northen and southern California focing Governor Jerry Brown to call a state of emergency. Nowhere is the crisis more evident than in NorCal's Lake County where, as The LA Times reports, the untamed wildfire forced chaotic evacuations, is consuming hundreds of homes and businesses, and has outrun the efforts of a growing army of firefighters to corral it. However, as the following clip shows, one car-driver ran the gauntlet and managed to outrun "the worst tragedy Lake County has ever seen," in a scene right out of a disaster movie.

As Reuters reports,

A swiftly spreading wildfire destroyed hundreds of homes and forced thousands of residents to flee as it roared unchecked through the northern California village of Middletown and nearby communities, fire officials said on Sunday.

The so-called Valley Fire, now ranked as the most destructive among scores of blazes that have ravaged the drought-stricken Western United States this summer, came amid what California fire officials described as "unheard of fire behavior" this season.

A separate fire raging since Wednesday in the western Sierras has leveled more than 130 buildings and was threatening about 6,400 other structures, with thousands of residents under evacuation orders there, too, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) reported.

Governor Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency in both areas, and mandatory evacuations were expanded as shifting winds sent flames and ash from the Valley Fire toward a cluster of towns in the hills north of Napa Valley wine country.

As the following clip shows, locals had no time to prepare as they ran the gauntlet to survival...

"Middletown is basically gone," said one local evacuee.

"I saw flames all around ... The wind was insane. I have never been so scared," she said.

Mark Donpineo, 54, said he and two friends were trapped by the fire for four hours Saturday evening at a golf course in Hidden Valley Lake, taking cover in a culvert until the flames had passed.

"We got some towels, wetted them down and basically saw the fire coming. You could hear explosions of propane tanks, the ridge was totally on fire, trees were blowing up," he said.

Meanwhile, Cal Fire reported that 81 homes and 51 outbuildings had been lost in the four-day-old Butte Fire, which has charred more than 65,000 acres in the mountains east of Sacramento but was 20 percent contained.

As of Sunday, firefighters were battling nearly three dozen large blazes or clusters of fires in California and six other Western states, according to the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho.

Sheriff Brian Martin described the fire as “the worst tragedy Lake County has ever seen.”

I just hope our government has made the necessary preparations that I carefully outlined in my article exactly two years ago regarding a state of emergency:

http://accredited-times.com/2013/09/12/are-we-equipped-for-a-state-of-em...

It is essential that in time like these, our government has the tools, resources and protocols in place to swiftly declare martial law and escort us to safety. It is also vital that the use of dangerous firearms is restricted during such times to limit criminal activity such as looting and mugging.

Now that Obama has his Iran sellout taken care of he will use this as a backdrop for arguing that we need to do something about global warming/global climate change/global climate disruption.  He will use the suffering these people went through to succeed in implementing his government regulations as a part of fundamentally changing this country for the worse.  The whores in Congress, Republican and Democrat alike, will help him do it.

Anti-Geoengineering Attorneys Give Updated Statement On Preparations For Legal Action To Expose Global Climate Engineering

On August 14th, 2015, there was a major event in Northern California that was organized for the purpose of exposing and halting global climate engineering programs that are decimating our planet and the entire web of life. Numerous experts spoke out at this event including attorneys, former government scientists, a former defense industry technician, former military personnel, a prominent Northern California Neurologist, and a CEO for one of the largest environmental and engineering consulting firms in the world. Approximately 1000 people attended this event. A team of 7 attorneys (5 from the US and 2 from Canada) are working together with geoengineeringwatch.org in the effort to put forward a legal filing against the ongoing covert climate engineering crimes.

Well, those options don't include a third possibility that I was trying to include in my poll.  It's kind of tricky with only two buttons, isn't it.

My personal opinion is that climate conditions in California are returning to the mean after an abnormally wet period, but that in the interval we've put way too many people and agricultural interests out there, and built far too much in places not viable in the long term.  Whether or not people's production of huge amounts of CO2 has anything to do with it I don't know, and it's almost not relevant any more.  The changed conditions are what we have to start getting serious about dealing with.

Sort of like building a city where we have New Orleans now, and then not being serious about dikes, seawalls, and the actual function of the natural bayous.

From "Call it Conspiracy," by Larry Abraham, 1985. Page 286, 'Desperation moves:'

"The establishment conspirators will do their best to keep people calm with respect to the solvency of the big banks, and keep them worried about the solvency of the economy in general. They need more power. They need more control over the private decisions of individuals. They will try to scare the public into granting them what they want. We can expect to see a steady loss of confidence on the part of the public concerning political and economic leaders. We can also expect to see the imposition of emergency economic controls as the economy unravels. The dollar will eventually tumble, throwing the world trading economy into a crisis. The answer will be the same three-point program of Keynesians and liberals everywhere: taxation, regulation, and inflation.

They would like to get a new Constitution to accomplish their goals. If voters can be frightened into allowing a Constitutional convention or similar event, the Establishment will shove a new Constitution down our throats, One very possible excuse: A WAVE OF LATIN AMERICAN REFUGEES STREAMING ACROSS THE BORDER..."

These aims could also be achieved by simply increasing the number of overall refugees by means such as fire, disease, and drought. When one controls the food, the water, AND where you live, you have people by the balls. At that point, when people are desperate, they will take whatever lifeline you throw at them, even if it is tainted...like: GLOBALISM and a New World Order. THAT is the goal here, and based on what I see with all the refugee crises around the world occurring simultaneously - and with the Pope scheduled to give a speech on 'saving the planet' while we head towards a financial Armageddon...why, I think what we are witnessing is the movement towards the master stroke of the elite: make things so horrible, and destroy so much and so many, that whoever survives will be HAPPY to accept their new system, and live under THEIR rules.

DO not be deceived: this drought was geoengineered, and these fires are NO ACCIDENT. The aluminum that has been sprayed all over the west to keep the rain away has entered the root systems of these trees, making them especially explosive when burned.

Just look around the world at this time, at the masses of humanity on the move: all over Europe; in Japan with the recent typhoon; in Russia; in Libya and other African countries; here in the US with our porous borders (and now, fire-stricken families - including my BEST FRIENDS, who will be staying with me). THIS IS *PLANNED*, and it is meant to overwhelm the system and create chaos and even, the elite hopes, skirmishes amongst us as we fight for space and food. Divide and conquer, all over again.

What is going on now with these fires in the west is the PLANNED burning of the woods and other areas where most self-sufficient people have set up, hoping to ride out the storm. These areas are also where the most awakened of us would head for, once the SHTF in the cities. Now, those roads are being closed, and we are being herded into cities, soon to be packed in like sardines. Many will actually WANT to head for FEMA camps to be taken care of. THAT IS THE GOAL. And it won't stop there: the cities will become 'The Hunger Games', FOR REAL. Just as the elites prepared us for, with their movie PROGRAMMING.

We need to see this bullshit for what it is, and rise as one against those who CREATED this entire mess: the bankers, and the politicians, and their lackeys who keep them in power. Regardless of what you might think of what I just wrote, at least BELIEVE THIS. There is a common denominator in all of this, and let that be remembered when the SHTF hits YOUR fan. It has already hit mine.

AIG was much larger, but same idea. No insurance company can bear these types of claims and payout and still exist. The taxpayer (via the FED) is ALWAYS THE BACKSTOP! ALWAYS (or as we say in our upstate NY accent - "ooies")

I have close friends who still have not found their home and never got 1 penny from their insurance company. They had to borrow from their 401k when congress and Bush signed an emergency HR bill into law allowing people to use 401k money to start rebuilding their homes. They did not have no choice but to allow 401k because they were protecting insurance companies from crashing the economy. This was in 2005 and the world got a glimpse of exactly what happens to insurance companies when the hen came home to roost in 2008 with AIG and all its CDS.

This is exactly right. As a 16 yr veteran of the wildland fire service, I'm here to tell you that Smokey Bear lied to you. You can't suppress all wildfires for 100 yrs and not expect this. Proper forest management includes letting some fires burn, thinning timber stands and prescribed fire.

California is worst than most western States as they restrict the amount of acres that can be burned at one time due to air quality regulations. In some places, a controlled burn can't be more than one acre in size. I'm sure there are wonks out there that will try to blame the larger, more extreme fires on "climate change", but it is mostly caused by forest mismanagement.

Take the Southeast for example, there are very large forests down there but do you ever hear of catastrophic wildfires there? Very rarely. Why? Because the burn about a million acres or more annually. Fire is a great tool to manage the land. I actually just got in from burning over 100 acres today. Burning on our terms reduces episodes like those described in this article.

No, the insurance company will pay for it, which is what insurance companies are handsomely paid to do and the very reason for their existence.
What would be the point of paying insurance otherwise, just fatten up insurance companies?

Mon, 09/14/2015 - 11:34 | 6546274 centerline

Funny.  Reality is that after a disaster, insurance companies send goons out to look at a pile of ashes and say that it just needs some paint.  Then, when the tide turns on them they rush to the state for a bailout on the threat of failure.  AND then, they skyrocket rates.

Ask me how I know?  lol.

just fatten up insurance companies?...

Surely you jest.  Even Uncle Warren's insurance concerns are backstopped by the USG.  Eric Holder has made sure there will never be another failure due to derivitive exposure and besides, much of the actual land that's burning is "public" meaning this is precisely the kind of natural management those we placed in charge of it use to prove their worth as guardians.

By the way, being ~50 miles SW from the Butte fire, we've woken up the past couple days to fine white ash which I've had to rinse off my car and onto my green lawn.

I figure I'd rather use the water here than ship it to LA.  But then again, I don't owe any favors to my money base for letting me live in Sacramento.

We were evacuated Thursday night, got the guns and ammo, pictures and a few other things. I know most people think all of California is all old hippies and liberal, let me tell you, this area is not one of them. One of my friends lost over 50 guns and ammo, including two AR's behind his couch because the fire changed direction and covered the area so quickly they had to virtually run out the door. Our small church has 9 families that have lost their homes, firebreaks and clear space are worthless in this type of fire. We have confirmation that my son's cottage, a little way from the main house is leveled, we don't know about ours yet. However, people here are coming together like I've never seen, gives me a little more hope for when TSHTF.  Nobody could see this coming.

Building houses along beach fronts exposed to the open sea,

subdivisions in swamps and flood plains,

real estate development in forested areas.

Most of the emergency costs, fire-fighting costs, and Forest Service budget is to

try to protect such optional housing, not protect forests, never mind public access to

beaches, or natural preserves.

Your either/or portrayal of choices is ridiculous.

Too much leeway has been allowed to real estate developers to build and rebuild

on marginal lands in forests, swamps, and beachfronts, in the process destroying

farmlands, natural preserves, beach access and creating "emergencies" for others to deal with.

If some like to argue "extremes",

should there be no regulation of what can be built anywhere,

and no limits on public expense to protect and rebuild properties

located without regard to hazard?
