Carson Says "No Muslim Should Be In Charge Of America" As Fiorina Surges Into Second Place

Tyler Durden's picture

Going into last Wednesday’s second GOP primary debate hosted by CNN at the Reagan Library, all eyes were again on frontrunner Donald Trump, but this time around, he was forced to share the spotlight with former Hewlett-Packard chief Carly Fiorina, whose polished responses and straightforward demeanor during the second tier debate last month won her a spot on the main stage this time around.

Perhaps sensing that Fiorina was set to go from also-ran to contender, Trump let the following slip in the presence of Rolling Stone’s Paul Solotaroff: "Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president. I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not s'posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?”

Well, say what you will about Fiorina but if there’s anything she is it’s serious, and when asked point blank about Trump’s comment at the debate, she turned The Teflon Don's own attack on Jeb Bush against him:

Sadly (in terms of what this says about the state of American politics), that was just about the only notable thing to come out of what ultimately turned out to be a painful, hours-long circus but as you might have surmised from the post-debate punditry parroting, Fiorina managed to steal the show and now, according to the latest CNN/ORC poll released on Sunday, she's rocketed from 3% all the way into second place as Trump slides hard, polling at 24% from 32% (via Reuters):

Billionaire Donald Trump remains in first place in the race to win the Republican presidential nomination for 2016, but his support has fallen to 24 percent from 32 percent previously, a CNN/ORC poll released on Sunday shows.

Former Hewlett-Packard chief executive Carly Fiorina, considered to have performed well in a CNN-sponsored debate of Republican candidates on Wednesday, shot up to second place with 15 percent from only 3 percent in early September, the poll showed.

The poll was conducted among 1,006 Americans from Sept. 17 to 19, and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

As for the man who used to be in second place, neurosurgeon Ben Carson, well, he spoke to NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday and offered his take on Muslims in American politics. We present Carson's comments with no further comment.

Via WSJ:

The question was in the context of Donald Trump on Thursday not correcting a New Hampshire town hall questioner who asserted President Barack Obama is Muslim and proposed “getting rid” of purported Muslim “training camps” in the U.S.

“It depends on what that faith is,” replied Mr. Carson, a retired neurosurgeon who is a practicing Seventh-Day Adventist. “If it’s inconsistent with the values and principles of America, then of course it should matter. But if it fits within the realm of America and consistent with the Constitution, no problem.”

Mr. Todd asked if Mr. Carson believes Islam is “consistent with the Constitution.”

“No, I do not,” Mr. Carson answered. He then added: “I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation.  I absolutely would not agree with that.”

Mr. Carson did allow that he could envision backing a Muslim candidate for Congress.

“Congress is a different story,” he said. “But it depends on who that Muslim is and what their policies are, just as it depends on what anybody else says, you know. And, you know, if there’s somebody who’s of any faith, but they say things, and their life has been consistent with things that will elevate this nation and make it possible for everybody to succeed, and bring peace and harmony, then I’m with them.”

The docs comments above have sent the internet into an outrage tantrum but I don’t see what he’s saying that’s so offensive. Is islam compatible with constitution? No, and neither are any of those ancient religious books (or new ones).

He’s basically saying what everyone already agrees with to some extent, except they usually keep it exclusive to ‘the other guys.’

Reality is, christians believe in crazy shit, so do muslems, so do atheists so do whomever. His comments really say more about the office than who should be eligible. Just limit the power of the president, everyone is crazy to some degree, best to mitigate any individuals power.

I agree 100%. It's like she is trying to make up for not having a penis by being the biggest warmonger on stage.

And if you are going to run for president on your business record, it should probably be a hell of a lot better than losing 50% of your shareholders value during your time there. Unless you are campaigning on your proven ability to destroy wealth and suck at life, id shit up about my business acumen of I was her.

Although on second thought, sucking at life and destroying wealth are about the only things our past presidents have been good at, so on second thought, yes, she is qualified....

“I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation.  I absolutely would not agree with that.” — Ben Carson

Excuse me, Ben, but the President of the United States presides over the United States government — which is constituionally small — not the nation, aka the country.

Yes, I know, this is now antiquated thinking, but that doesn't make it wrong. As the great Randolph Bourne said:

In an essay titled “The State”, Randolph Bourne, an American writer, made a distinction between a country and a state that I find crucial. He described one’s country as “an inescapable group into which we are born”. In his view, a country is “a concept of peace, tolerance, of living and letting live. But the State is essentially a concept of power, of competition; it signifies a group in its aggressive aspects. And we have the misfortune of being born not only into a country but into a State, and as we grow up we learn to mingle the two feelings into a hopeless confusion." — https://www.lewrockwell.com/2015/09/no_author/theyre-bffs/

Is it not like that by the definition? Islam and Christianity are religions for the slaves and Judaism is a religion/instruction for the slavowners:

For Jehovah thy God will bless thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over thee.

The former was forced to come to some sense and reign in certain elements of the war mongering MIC after April 2008, and based on the latter's recent instructions to Secretariat of State and Dumb Fuck Chuck's replacement at DoD- it would appear that perhaps that some light, reason, or common sense has finally pierced the dense fog of his cranial cavity.

Now that's one hell of an idea as the Koran does not allow charging interest. All the commentators, star gazers, and tea leaf readers would be out of work and would have to do something productive.

But the candidates are a real vaudeville circus, with Trump saying that China has stolen America's jobs. As if all the corporations who shifted the jobs there and then bought the products had no say in the matter. He is lifting China to 'all powerful status', snatching industrial production without the will of the corporations. I hope someone is compiling a video 'Election Circus 2015/16'.

Atheists may believe in crazy shit, but at least they don't go for the invisible dude in the sky.

The concept that there are powers beyond our comprehension is not necessarily a negative one, maybe encourages some humility.

Atheists tend to fall down on the job most frequently in believing their own reference frame is one of objective calm rationality. Particularly among the more zealous atheists this gets stretched to absurd lengths. That faith in ones own rationality is just as bad as believing God is whispering in your ear (probably equivalent conceptually).

i find not much difference between 'religious' zealots and atheist zealots, similar to religious moderates / atheist moderates. Two sides of the same coin.

It's more about the particular person than what they happen to believe i'd say.

Forget the alleged Religious concepts under Islam for the moment.

Is there any person of sound mind, knowing Muslim History and behavior since the 7th century - and when they are in control, - would ever want to give them Political control in a Western Country? That would be insanity at it highest.

Islam at its core is fundamentally incompatible with Western ideas, concepts, beliefs and in general life as the the West wishes to live it. This is reality, this is fact. When in control Islam is either for the  full conversion of the unbeliever, second class status in Muslim Lands or death. End of story.

They don't think you should ask to rule, you should be chosen.

They don't believe in voting.

They don't believe in usary.

They don't believe in a separation between church and state.

Smoking has not been banned of course but the social collective and govt makes certain it isn't encouraged. Why? Because it's very harmful to health, just like texting when driving often goes badly. So don't do it, discourage it (keep in mind, I like a cigar).

So why in the hell are we not treating Islam, Judaism Christianity and Hinduism a similar way given it's observed to do so much relentless harm to so many people? Instead we do the exact opposite and encourage it to spread, we carry the water for the crazies to make it easier for them to proselytize and find a niche to implant into our culture their desperately mental bullcrap story!

Jews very strongly disagree BB. Remember Esau, Son of Issac and brother of Jacob from the Old Testament? Well Jacob was the father of the 12 tribes of Israel and Esau his estranged brother became the Patriarch of the tribe of the Edomites who inhabited the south western Saudi desert, and Mohamed was a descendant of Abraham, according to Islam, so Islam was from Abraham, Just as Jacob and Israel was. So Judaism came from the sons of Issac, and Islam from Ishmael.

At least that's the myth accepted by both sides to this day. Needless to say those descendants hated each other, as one brother was promised the land of Canaan by Issac, and Esau got a pot of meat, got a bit grumpy about it and pissed off into the deep desert. Hence the desert origins of Islamic fundamentalism to this day. Mohamed himself claimed to be a direct descendant of Ishmael who was an immediate son of Abraham and his first wife Hagar. Esau and Jacob came through the humping of Abraham and Sarah.

Not clear the connection from Ishmaelites and Edomites to modern day desert Arab fundamentalists, except they inhabit the exact same places and claim the founders of their religion came from the same people. Certainly Islam itself explicitly claims to come from the exact same ancestors that Judaism originated from.

I had Christianity shoved down my throat since I was three. I include it in the list simply because I know it so well. I also went to two christian schools when growing up amid about 10 State an Private schools (traveled lots when young) and was sent to a few Christian youth camps as well when a teen. I'm extremely familiar with Christianity and all its baloney and its 'scriptures', and that's why I have no hesitation putting it on the list with all the other ultra demented belief cults of this planet.

And if you were Islamic you would defend Islam in exactly the same way, or the book of Mormon, or the Abraham/Issac fables, or Scientology. They would all say their particular 'religion' should not be on the list.

I'm still confused how a Muslim can marry a tranny. It would seem to be something highly frowned upon. Maybe it's like bacha bazi (dancing boys dressed as girls). Sanctioned pedophilia for hundreds of years by Afganistan Muslims which is illegal under Sharia but ignored. So, if you dress a young boy as a girl, it technically isn't homosexuality? Fascinating logic.

So true. We had a Muslim woman at my work who told us that a camel from another village was forced to move to her village. That meant it had been violated and therefore banned. We all looked at each other and finally unable to contain ourselves burst out laughing. Slut camels was the topic of the day. Was it the " Come hither" eyelashes? Would Gene Wilder do a scene with a camel wearing leather lingerie? We could barely contain ourselves. The Muslim woman was very distressed and could not understand why we found it so funny. To her, it clearly was the camels fault. The idea the guy should have some responsibility for banging the camel just wasn't on her radar. Just nuts.

When it comes to "illegal immigration" most blame the victim (which is most often the immigrant), rather than the multinational corporate interests that are a: often the source behind the troubles of which people are migrating/fleeing, b: profiting handsomely from the quasi-criminalization of undocumented immigration, and c: benefiting from a workforce that has absolutely no rights while leveraging this to depress the wages of legal workers.

How to end illegal immigration? End the (no-longer named) War on Drugs, negotiate honest fair-trade agreements than corporate-giveaways disguised as "free trade" and quit arming and bombing half of the world-- that'd be a hell of a start!

Interesting thought process.  I am a techie and have recently been working alot with Healthcare professionals and DRs in particular.
They are definitely bright and trained.

It pays to analyse the type of knowledge that they use.

They use a sort of pattern recognition in their thinking.  Analyzing facts and matching them to the symptoms known for illnesses.  One thing I am very, very surprised about is their lack of process knowledge.

That would explain why healthcare is such a hard place to automate.  They have created such an industry built around the pillar thought of not creating conflict with other Drs who want to do their own way.  I would hate to be a "Best Practices" Dr in Industry, yet that is what the industry needs.

Given that, I know nothing about this Dr, but I would really be hesitant to deal with the god complex ego and lack of real world knowledge and ability to follow process that the real world requires.

Of course many don't like the idea of a Supreme Being (God) telling them how to act but have no problem with a dictatorial regime on planet earth doing the same. Of course, the earthly regimes gives them 501c3, EBT and Section 8 along with a myriad of other 'freebies' whereas the other requires them to toil the land. The earthly regimes bails out the thieves whereas the other condemns them to Hell.

One can immediately see which might be more popular.

Fiorina's surge has nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with her calling on Hillary and Obama to view the Planned Parenthood videos.

In that regard, she is taking pages out of Trump's playbook.

She is confronting the oligarchy directly and displaying her willingness to say what everyone on her side is actually thinking.

What does the right wing want? Someone who will not only promise to fight, but will actually do it. Whoever wins will not be a person who promises to fight now but has no track record of previous fighting in their resume. It could be a person who has no record whatsoever, but will not be someone who has played nicely in the big comradely orchestra of the Establishment.

Carly showed fight on all fronts and seemed polished and sensible while doing it. I see her as a virtual lock for the VP spot, no matter her poor record in corporate-land. People want fight, not competence.

For the top, don't know-- except that it won't be Jeb, George Fucking Patootie, or Lindsay Groom. Good with Ben, Trump, Rand, or Walker.

On the left, the same dynamics are happening. They want a fighter, not someone with a "For Sale" sign dangling from their nosering. With Joke Biden being prettied up by the media as an alter-Hillary, they could split delegates three ways and end up with a smoke-filled room candidacy. Which I think is their intent at this point. Stopping Bernie is becoming an urgent consideration for them.

If you reached back into your memory and tried to recall what it meant to be an American when you were young, what does it make you feel?  When you compare that memory to these people, or to the government they want to control, how do you feel about that?

Nobody seems like an American anymore.  This so called government tortures people and maintains concentration camps.  There are "Federal Work Camps" for prisoners too, echoing the term Arbietslager exactly.  There is a vast penal colony in Arizona that exploits the slave labor of people formerly known as citizens, people who have now and forevermore been stripped of their citizenship, often because of imagined slights against the State.  US States ship their captives to this concentration camp and pay private interests to imprison people and force them to labor.

Does any of this sound American?  Do we believe that these old assholes running for office to control this monstrosity actually want to do away with it?

Based on the behaviour of most 'leaders' most of them must favour the red guy with a tail and fork.

For a long time now, US media has been consistantly conditioning us for a female president. Notice all the sitcoms and TV ads relegating men to mere wusses or treating them like moronic dogs by their strong, powerful, authoritarian wives? This is not accidental or just fashionable. It's another deliberate attempt to divide the public along frivolous lines, just like the gay army secretary, whist the shadow gov. (read NEOCON) continues with their agenda unabated. If it's not this election, it will definitely be the next.

This is just part of the broader Cultural Marxist Long March Through The Institutions.  The primary target is the White male and his role in the traditional family. If they succeed with this all else follows.

Fiorina is a fucking incompetent bitch who has ruined every company she's ever worked for.  Fuck her, she's worse than Hildebeast.

You should do some research.

You'd have a hard time finding many that are worse than the Hildebeast.

Have you seen the Fiorina going full retard about Putin? She is a psycho slut.

We shouldn't talk to Putin at all and should just send troops to Europe

Suppose. Just suppose Trump is trying to get pulled out of the race by being offensive. But the more offensive he gets, the more his popularity increases. It's just a thought.

I'm not convinced he's a serious candidate unless he gets the nomination. In politics, what we see is not what is. I think his goal is to wreck the Republican party and soften the way for Hillary. The rewards would be enormous.
