TSA Agent Caught Stealing From Passenger's Wallet At NYC Airport Checkpoint

TSA agents don’t get enough credit. They aren’t just experts at sexually molesting airport passengers, although they are very good at that. They have also become well known for outright theft.
Here’s the latest from the New York Post:
A TSA agent at JFK Airport was busted when he was caught stealing money out of a passenger’s wallet at a security checkpoint, authorities said.
Joe Bangay, 37, was processing passengers at Terminal 1 around 10:30 p.m. Saturday when he swiped $61 in cash out of the passenger’s wallet, according to police.
PAPD officers reviewed security footage and watched as the victim placed the wallet in a basket and laid it on the conveyor belt of the X-ray machine.
The cops then witnessed Bangay allegedly pick up the wallet and pocket the money.
The theft comes on the heels of several other crimes involving TSA agents.
Agent Margo Lauree-Grant was arrested earlier this month for allegedly stealing a Canadian passenger’s diamond-encrusted watch at JFK.
Don’t worry, they’re just keeping us safe.

On a related note, I have found that if one has "injured their shoulder" to the point where they can't raise their hands over their head in the "freeze" mode for the nake scanners then they are medically exempted from having to go through the naked scanner and can also skip the Freddom touching patdown. One proceeds through the medical detector and then has their hand swabbed for explosives and on their way the passanger goes. I keep my cash in my hands through the entire process.

Waiting for a flight in Lima, Peru we had a security agent trying to take our carry on bags even though they were well within size and weight requirements. Found out later thats it's a common robbery in that airport. Also had things stolen from checked luggage either in Miami or Bogota on a different trip.

TSA agents caught stealing should be subject to immediate execution.
What they should do is terminate their employment immediately, and NOT refill the position. And they should conduct investigations of ALL departments and agencies on the public payroll and do the same...if you are committing crime in your position, immediate termination, and the position goes away.
If this was done properly, it would accomplish the desired reduction of government employees that so many want to see. But it would do it in a way that opponents of government downsizing would have a tough argument against. Since you'd only be firing the ones actually guilty of something, few would feel sorry for them for losing their jobs.
The agencies would shrink over time to the level where they start having problems functioning, and we'd have an idea of what the basic costs of a government ARE.
The whole 'issue' with the public unions is ridiculous. I am VERY pro-union in the private sector, but the model does NOT translate to civil service. You don't hear various groups within the military screaming for their own representation...they obey the chain of command and do as they are directed, whether it is in their interests or not. That is because the military could never function if it allowed individual interests to trump loyalty and obedience. No central governing authority can.
As a federal employee, THAT should be your official job title...Federal Employee. You can follow that with "assigned to the CIA, FBI, TSA"...the whole alphabet-soup. But no agency should have its own little in-house pool of unionized employees with their own by-laws and secret handshakes, so to speak.

I once saw an airpost worker come into the waiting area, hand someone a package and walk back out. My wife went to the desk to report that suspicious behaviior and was told to mind her own business. They delayed the flight while they ran me thru all sorts of searches of myslelf and my carry on. They didn't like me laughing while they were doing it but I thought it was petty and pretty funny. The only thing I didn't like were the looks the passengers gave me when I finally was allowed to board.
The only way to stop these clowns is to prosecute - same thing with bad cops!
You should ALWAYS completely check ANY bags or items that have been out of your sight even for a second. And do it IMMEDIATELY after getting the bag back, right in front of the TSA goon. If ANYTHING is missing, start yelling right there and then.
It'll be easier to get the stuff back if the agent doesn't have time to go stash it in his locker or something...it'll still be ON him when others come over to see what's wrong.
If you are 100% certain TSA stole it, you just have to get them to check the agent you are accusing. Your stuff will still be on him, or nearby. If you are loud and persistant, they WILL have to conduct an investigation, and probably won't let the agent leave the area.
You'll miss your flight, but you WILL nail a TSA thief's ass. They count on people being in a hurry to get where they're going, and to choose to file complaints afterwards. You HAVE to act immediately, on the spot.
If I had some free time, and money, maybe I'd check through some of these problem airports with some 'bait' in my bag and do this...
I'd also send small packages through the mail with gps devices and see how honest the Post Office is...

Flying out of the US next month and this has been one of my main concerns. Dealing with government sychophants who weild their power over the prisoners.
Last time I was in the USA was 2002 and I already could smell the fascism. Couldn't wait to get on the plane out of there. Haven't been back since and renounced last year. There is NOTHING I miss about the USA.

Keep your wallet, passport in the computer bag. Store your boarding pass within passport. Buy a passport leather case that jams RFID chip. Never a problem going through TSA. I don't use fast track lane or IRIS Bullshit.
Lastly, be nice and cordial. It makes a difference. They have a shity job, make them feel respected. You'll never have a issue.
At least in my case, I do get security love letters in my luggage. No one has stolen anything as of date.

About 2 years ago I was in that same terminal waiting for my flight, when I noticed a small group of TSA agents conversing near me. I instantly noticed ow out of place they looked. Such lower blue-collar/white trash are never seen in an airport as passengers. They have nowhere to go.
