I find it amazing that so many people get together to protest all the time everywhere, but no discussion ever comes out of it. Is that really it? Two modes of operation: obey and protest.
Do so many dissatisfied people do not want to dream up new ways to make their world better - take it into their hands? Everyone's already out there for fuck's sake - that's the hard part, getting everyone together.
At some point, you gotta imagine - the people don't want to work that hard, be responsible for each other and for their own welfare. If they did, they would already be talking. Or do these protest crowds really need an actual voice to physically tell them to start valuing communities and discuss the forming of local governments that actually work? It takes hard work to have a functioning society where everyone's relatively happy and well off. Everyone's gotta participate and work hard though - you can't just expect free shit while being a low-life dildo.
You can't beat the centralization or its force, but you can work alongside it and make something that eventually renders the centralization useless, by compassion or by force.

I keep a couple dozen of a mixed breed that I've been working on for quite some time. Hearty, great foragers, great layers, get up to 5 pounds in 8 weeks. Can put about 5 dozen eggs in the incubator in the spring and eat one a week.

Those buffs and reds and barred rock type get too big, sometimes 10lb, largish for eating and they eat you out of house and home. Good for cages I guess. Awesome layers of big brown eggs though, second to none.
You want a real chicken for free range at least, get the original Danish brown leghorns. The one where the rooster looks like the one on the corn flake box and the chicks are camo chipmuck colored and can blend into the grass so the hawks/owls ect can't see so good.. Now those little hustlers will be out in the pasture a quarter mile making their own living catching grasshoppers and worms while most of the rest will just hang around the yard under your feet waiting for the next handout. 5-6 pound bird but still large white egg.

I live in the city so having chickens is not practical. I have to buy my eggs.
I will only buy pasture raised organic. When I switched from the factory eggs I noticed the difference. The yokes were deep yellow and had awesome taste. That regulrar suff, or as I call them "factory eggs" has no taste and I am pretty sure not much for nutreants.

A story down here you may find funny. I eat at KFC twice a year. Love it but can't do it often can feel arteries clogging up. Anyways, I went to there and this one has a buffet. So I sit down and it is literally 100 degrees in there. So I take my plate of food up to the counter and ask for a to go box. The manager rushes up and says "you cant take that home siiiiirrrr" in a real bitchy like I was some criminal.

So I said "Ok now I will call corporate and explain how you decided to put all your employees behind the counter at risk because your AC is broken and you decided to keep the store open anyways."
